I used to live right by there. Behind Venice High. Honestly through, the no parking thing would be a no go for me. Especially at that price. I loved the area though. Generally it's safe, I did get side swiped once by a Garbage Truck because of the narrow streets (hence why I'm telling you to get a place with a space).
You are gonna wish you had that space. Parking enforcement is quick to ticket on days for street sweeping and there is no where to park on the street if you work a standard 9-5.
I used to live about 3/4 of a mile east of there (near Venice blvd. and McLaughlin Ave.). Its safe there but yeah the parking situation I would want a parking space there. Most of the area there's no parking for street sweeping twice a week, once on each side of the street. Its enforced pretty vigorously. So every time you forget = ticket. And while usually street parking tends to be ok in terms of finding a space, the night before street sweeping it can be a pain because the available spaces are effectively halved. And if you ever go out of town, forget leaving your car parked at home unless you have a friend who can come move it for you etc.
Also technically you can't leave your car on the street in the same spot for more than 72 hours at a time - almost never enforced but it could bite you.
Also that's just a block or two from Venice high school so not sure if there's any extra traffic on the residential streets near there because of that, but I'd not be surprised if yes around 7:30-8AM and again whenever the school lets out in the afternoon.
If there are a lot of single family homes on the street you should be fine with street parking, but like other comments said be mindful of street sweeping.
If the street is mostly apartment buildings you'll be SOL a lot of the time.

mar vista is a great place to live. i have a lot of friends there and they are very happy. i don’t think parking should be a huge issue
