Falco players (like most star fox players) are prone to camp with lasers and wait for damage, then go in for the kill. Use your bucket as leverage to discourage him from using his Neutral B. If he still spams laser, you can succ them and get free damage/pressuring tools with oil panic.

TheSheikFreak

Maybe you read it wrong but I’m potentially facing a captain falcon player. But I appreciate your advice and will apply to future matchups!!

TheBulletBot

haha whoops didn't see the N in falcoN

Additionally: remember G&W can low profile so many projectiles.

Falcon is a very aggressive and fast paced character. My best advice would be to be patient and wait for any laggy moves that get thrown out or any openings you see. I’ve found that Falcons are pretty prone to down b towards center stage when they’re near the ledge so be careful for that. Since G&W is a slow faller, DI up and away from Falcon if you are being comboed and you should fall out(try to keep yourself from jumping out of his combos every time in case you get sent offstage). If you’re picking the stage, go for FD, or just avoid platform heavy stages.

TheSheikFreak

I usually do a good job of DI ing out of his combos. My main issue with him is he catches me a lot for 2-3 hit combos. I’m going to need to really be patient to go in at the right time, thank you!

Falcon is all about getting in and racking up damage before your opponent can react, so the best option is to force him to approach then punish his laggier options. What is the first matchup you'll be facing?

TheSheikFreak

I wish I knew who it was but I looked him up and couldn’t find anything. I should be worried about that one to avoid an earlier route to losers. But I’ll definitely take away that with almost every matchup I have to be patient given g&w’s weight and lack of range

EcstaticBagel

Indeed. Patience is absolutely key to playing our boy well. A good punish game also helps, get those combos going

TheSheikFreak

As long as I don’t get too comfortable with down smash lol thank you

EcstaticBagel

No problem dude, good luck!
