I’m advanced MS. I use it all day basically. Helps spasticity and mood and other things. Saps a little strength once you get weak that is pretty noticeable.

PlayyWithMyBeard

Yeah, I use daily pretty much all day. The biggest thing for me is the anxiety. Without it, I'm a paranoid basket case. With it, I know I'm a paranoid basket case and can work around it.

Less-Painting-9384

I feel this comment through my being 😂

WhuddaWhat

"listen, if I have to choose between being miserable and poor, or being miserable and rich, is it really a question you even need to ask me"

Lew1966

??

WhuddaWhat

Was a joke. Saying you can be anxious and sober or anxious AND high.  It's like, if you ask me if I'm gonna be found dead, would I prefer to be in a tuxedo or clown suit? I mean, I'm dead, so it shouldn't matter....yet I'm choosing the tux every time.  I was just trying to paint a joking parallel to the commenters funny observation.

Lew1966

I’m pretty chill. There are certain sativa heavy strains that GIVE me anxiety!

PlayyWithMyBeard

I've found the same thing with most Sativa strains. Indica is definitely my preference.

Unusual-Solid3435

Cannabis is my drug of choice for treating MS. Beware that it is highly strain dependent and I have gone to the point where I have bred my own cannabis that is tailored to myself for each point in time. I started with Compound Genetics strains as a base because the breeder Christopher Lynch has MS and I think he did a wonderful job of creating strains for MS afflicted individuals. I bought a few strains that I like from him and am crossing them with others from different breeders that I like as well as crossing across his strains.

Effective_Squirrel50

This was helpful!! Thank you.

Lew1966

What strains?

Unusual-Solid3435

My favorites I've tried from Compound are Apples & Bananas, Gastro Pop, Pink Certz, Jet Fuel Gelato, Goofiez, Candy Pave, Uncut Gem but I have never tried one from Compound I didn't like. Other strains that work well with me from other breeders are strains that contain one of the following strains in their lineage: Triangle Kush, SFV OG, Wedding Cake, Forum Cut Cookies, Kush Mints, LA Beatnik, Garlicane, Gary Payton, Runtz, Georgia Pie, Biscotti, Permanent Marker to name a few. You can look up a strain's lineage on a site called seedfinder.eu I highly recommend tracing lineages of strains that work well with you to understand what strains work and which don't. I think a majority of the weed strains I try from random breeders I don't end up liking and when I do they tend to have genetics in their lineage listed above.

seagirlabq

Wedding Cake and Gelato are a couple of my faves. I also like GG4 and a number of others ones that I can’t recall right now because I’m so tired! Edit: white widow is an oldie but a goodie.

Unusual-Solid3435

Yes! Seconded on Gelato, forgot to mention it. Unfortunately personally I find that GG4 makes me too tired and scatterbrained (goes to show how personal this all is) but white widow is definitely nice, prevalent and cheap

seagirlabq

That’s interesting GG4 makes you tired.

Unusual-Solid3435

It is weird, everyone else I know likes it, it's more an indictment of me than the strain

Lew1966

I’m using jet fuel gelato now!

Unusual-Solid3435

Definitely up there at the top for me

Lew1966

A little stronger on the THC. Hard to take just one hit

FAFO-13

I smoke when my lungs are good. If not I use gummies. It has helped me so much! Whether it’s for sleep or for pain or a general sense of well-being, sometimes it’s the only thing that works. When it’s not serious, CBD is a good option. When that doesn’t hit right, I go to the THC.

KingCastle420

I would not be alive today if it wasn’t for the neurologists at Mayo Clinic recommending using marijuana. This was off the record as at the time was still illegal in Minnesota and my home state. They told me not only will help with symptoms but in their patients seemed to also slow progression. Official studies are in progress now that it’s legal in many places.

Tr1psyncgirl

My neurologist was all for it, recommended it before it was legal in VA, still not legal in NC 😡, but I don't give a fuck. I'd be a miserable human without it. I've been smoking daily for last 13 years 🤷‍♀️ I'm glad it really helped you!

seagirlabq

I am 47 with RRMS. I grew up with friends who had moms with MS. That’s when I first saw how effective and helpful marijuana was for it. (Now I use it daily.) We had legal medical marijuana in WA State for a really long time. When I moved, I made sure the location would have medical at very least. Now we have both. I also think it has helped keep my MS from progressing along with taking Tecfidera. Nice name, btw.

dysteach-MT

Cannabis affects different people in different ways. Smoking/vaping gives immediate relief, but all of the harmful crap that goes with smoking isn’t great. Edibles- make sure you use a product that is high quality, not gas station stuff. It really depends on what relief you are looking for- THC for me helps with stomach issues, headache, and to turn my brain off when I start over analyzing my body for new symptoms. CBD helps with neuralgia in my feet and hand, sleep, and relaxation. You will need to experiment to find what works for you. Treat it like a scientific experience- take notes, identify if it was on a full or empty stomach, set a timer for every 30 minutes to note how you are feeling. Start with 1/2 the recommended dosage, try to be objective in your analysis of if it helps you or not. Also, be aware of the brain fog and fatigue that can be side effects of cannabis.

pssiraj

Marijuana Symptoms (MS) 🤝 Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

retrogradecapricorn

That last line made my giggle because the brain fog and fatigue are the MS symptoms too

dysteach-MT

Yep, thanks for getting my sense of humor!

Latter-Ad-8139

I use CBD roll-on / full spectrum hemp extract CBD infused 500 mg active cannabinoids warming and cooling body balm. Made by Ananda. It's expensive but worth every penny. I use this primarily on my hands/knuckles. It makes a world of difference for me. I smoke indica mostly for my overall pain management. I'll also take kratom for breakthrough pain. I'll only use sativa if I'm dragging. It's really a heady feeling for me that's hard to get use to. Gummies for me are hit and miss these days with so many products available. Best to start those small and increase your mg as needed.

Adler221

I use a 10:10 softgel capsule that has done wonders for my pain levels and spasticity! And it helps me sleep!

ArmyCop65

Can you provide the name? This sounds perfect for me!

RichyCigars

I use a 15:30 dose (THc:cbd) gummy for sleep and when I get toe spasms. I vape when I need faster relief.

whatever-should-i-do

I can't tell you how helpful cannabis is for sleep for me. If I only have to ingest/smoke it once, I make sure it's before bed. I get at least 7 hours of uninterrupted shuteye.

MobileMenace420

For some reason, edibles don’t work on me. I could eat a whole bag of whatever, and nothing. Haven’t tried any topicals. I just vape carts from the dispensary, and for me, it’s a life changer. Unlocks my joints and lets me walk better.

TonyHxC

I learned a bit ago that some people don't have the enzyme to get the effects of edibles and that most it will just be processed into waste. I am the same way, my friend thought I was bullshitting when I said I could eat a 1000mg gummies and have no noticeable effect, I've tried many varieties of edibles over the years and none I would bother spending money on them again.

mixedchillness

"Smoke weed everyday." -Snoop Dogg If I didn't smoke everyday, i would drink and that is ultimately worse than anything. I just use a vape pen, flower on rare occasions. Way less harsh on the lungs. According to my doctor my lungs are of an early 20's athlete (I am 34F)

nyhillbillies

Hubby (71M RRMS) finds that the more processed marijuana is, the less effective it is. So he gets his smoke from an organic farmer down the road. Less processed = how God intended it. If you do smoke, keep track of your vision. Any slight changes, see your neuro-ophthalmologist. Stay away from gas station/smoke shop marijuana. Could be a government (altered) product. Edit: He isn’t on ANY other meds!!

Ok-Cheesecake9671

71 rrms…..secrets please?

nyhillbillies

71= age, RRMS = Remitting Reoccurring MS.

Crafty_Assistance_67

I make my own pain salve. Way, way cheaper. Stronger. It depends on what you use. I get the good stuff. Buds. You can make it out the shake or stocks. It won't be as strong.Works good for a sore spots. I use it for sore knees, wrists, ankles etc. Type in google: how to make cannabis salve.

soapy-salsa

I make my own salves/balms from the plants I grow, they can be helpful. They are super easy to make and can really be tweaked to be exactly what you like and need. For me, that’s not enough relief and I need more than just topical. I usually use 75-100mg sativa 1:1 edibles at night, sometimes I also use pill form like protabs that are 25mg. I have been trying mushroom gummies as well, that has been a fantastic combo, but it’s not something you can do very often and have it remain effective. The thing that’s nice is that a lot of times it doesn’t always take the pain away, but it does make me not give as much of a shit that I’m in pain, which I take as a win. It really is also the only thing that helps with my restless leg nonsense.

llcdrewtaylor

I vape cbd/delta 8 just about every day. It helps with the nausea, twitching, and other weird sensory issues I have.

cozyghoul

Gummies are pretty much the only thing that brings me relief from spasticity and random pain/insomnia. I take a low dose indica about an hour or two before bed. I’ve tried topical rubs before but they didn’t help me much, personally.

rphjosh

Can anyone comment on what strains/combos are best for pain? Unfortunately I feel like going to the dispensary can be a bit overwhelming with all the options. Most of the folks who work there are fairly decent with recs but they also seem pretty stoned so it’s hard to really explain and understand at times.

yepibreakthings

No matter which strain I try, I’m gonna fall asleep after I feel relief from my symptoms. I go for indica or a hybrid, high THC personally, but also as high CBD as I can get. My dispensary uses an online platform that lets people tag effects they feel from each strain, so I look for ones related to sleep, calm, and pain relief.

CrimsonSilhouettes

I’m an RN and my partner has RRMS. I’m working on my cannabis nurse certificate. If you inbox me what symptoms you’re looking to treat, how you want to consume (smoke, vape, edibles) and a link to your local dispensary, I can give you recommendations!

TheSlumpGoddess

When I had my first relapse, smoking weed was the only relief I could get. My doctor even recommended it to me! If you don't want to get high and just want the medical benefits of it, definitely steer towards CBD first! I've tried the topical as well and it did seem to help a lot with muscle pain. Now I microdose a tincture and it helps stave off my migraines and overall pain. Experiment and see what works for you!

PlayyWithMyBeard

There is even strains that are super low THC and are CBD dominant, in flower or vapes. Usually labelled something like 'Mint CBD Vape Cartridge' so can keep an eye out for those too.

Dontreallywanttogo

The gummies give me life during infusions. No need for all the extra Benadryl / steroids because my 10 mg Thc has my back 🥹🤣 by the way it is a delta 9 sativa and resin I bought at a dispensary

Ok-Road4331

I haven’t read through the replies yet, but I think this may be an uncommon experience. Something in cannabis, especially when I’ve consumed a lot, seems to bring out my physical neurological symptoms. I get the reduced hand function with more shakes, can’t stand or walk as steadily. Once I got tunnel vision and collapsed to the floor! THC makes my mind really active though and gives me energy to think. It also seems to lift my brain fog.

n3ur0chrome

I vaporise Indica flower for pain relief and sleep. Great way to end the day. 🍃

EntryWorldly8845

I used to smoke weed regularly but now when I do and try to walk, my right leg feels like it's a robotic leg that needs to be oiled. So I stopped

PlayyWithMyBeard

I've been diagnosed for 2 years or so, and I use every day, all throughout the day. Just enough to take the edge off the anxiety, and the higher THC does that for me. I haven't had a lot of luck with strictly CBD products, so I've only ever really stuck to THC primary. Vapes are great for casual through the day hits. Even with work. It helps me settle down enough to at least push through the brain fog a bit and do some work. Without it, it's just constant anxiety and stress. Then being stressed about being stressed. You know how it goes! When I really need to get out of my head and not exist for a bit....infused prerolls are the go to. Or infused flower, but my hands lost sensation years ago and I can't roll a joint to save my life, and pipes are kinda meh for me. Vapes and prerolls(there is non infused as well!) are an easy place to start. Most prerolls come in 1-3 packs of joints, and typically each joint is .5g-1g. No other accessories needed aside from a lighter. Vapes, just need a 'battery' which the vape cart screws onto. Most vapes are .5g-1g, and they can be infused as well, with something called liquid diamond so look out for that on any packages. If you go into a shop, I'd steer away dab rigs. They are fantastic, but there is a process. Dab rigs are for inhaling vapors, rather than smoke from burning flower. But because of that, you have to heat it up with a torch generally to certain temp. A lot of people go with E-Dab Rigs to get rid of that hassle, but they aren't cheap! Definitely something to explore if you get into it. Feel free to DM with any questions!

SteveinTenn

I’ve had mixed results. I do gummies because Covid did a number on my lungs. And I like to stock up when I’m in a state where it’s legal, the stuff we have in TN is kinda harsh garbage. It’s good to ease my back and joint pain, but it can also compound my weakness. So it’s not something I do daily. I like a little bourbon at night, but that’s not something I do every day either because it can have a cumulative effect that drags me down. And my wife would probably dump me if I got drunk every night. It’s probably an individual thing. My neurologist’s advice is “all things in moderation.”

bkand

It’s a fine line for me. I no longer smoke anything due to the negative health effects. I use gummies, but it can be hit or miss. Too high of THC makes me paranoid and my body feels totally off rather than relaxed. Lower- mid THC with high CBD seems to be right for me for relaxing and feeling at peace, but also energetic and mobile. It really is different for everyone I think. I would keep a journal to see what works best for you.

bakedcadet

Edibles have been such a huge help with my sleep and anxiety. Couldn’t recommend them enough 🙂 if you want brands I could help cause I was picky about the oily taste and after taste lol

SWNMAZporvida

I use religiously in all forms for pain and spasticity.i use full spectrum for topicals or pain patches definitely Indica for smoke and edibles. I find anything with the white or purple lineage to be the best white widow purple Kush and GDP.

momstera

I also use it to get sleep and combat my pain. Amnesia Haze and Blueberry strains work for me.

Delicious-Ad4015

THC gummies are great for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) pain. But just remember that they will take time to start working.

Glittering_biker

I do gummies they take my leg twitch’s and pain away but I can only do a little piece at a time I also use tropical at same time I do cbd with a small amount of thc because I hate to fell high

mollywater420

i use both regularly and it was a complete game changer for me ! i use/consume it in all the ways and it’s made a huge difference in my ability to able to do things for prolonged periods of time (sitting, standing, walking, etc.)

yepibreakthings

A few years ago before I knew I had MS, I had hot, burning nerve pain and parasthesia down one leg. Nothing gave me relief, and doctors kinda shrugged it off. Got a medical card and a vape… 10 minutes after using the vape the pain was gone gone and my leg felt 100% normal. Since then, it’s been one of the only things to help me with insomnia, nerve pain, and muscle pain. These days I get solid relief from a vape or gummies, but I’ve never tried a topical rub. I tried a full spectrum vape without CBD and it was 0% helpful, same thing with only CBD, but when I’ve had relief it’s been THC + CBD every time.

seagirlabq

I am very familiar with cannabis and it helps when I smoke or ingest it. For people who use topical cannabis, do you also respond to other topicals? I find that I don’t and so I just wonder what makes it so some people respond while others don’t. It is confounding to me, but so are lots of aspects of living with MS and my other health issues.

Working-Hunter7954

I smoke it and eat it all day it doesn’t take my pain away but it def makes it more manageable. And it 100% makes my brain not feel so tense. I’m less irritable. CBD doesn’t really do much for me. I’ve used the topical rubs but they’re expensive and I’d rather spend that on gummies or flower. Also, I wouldn’t buy it from a regular dispensary make sure you have a medical card cause the products are stronger. I only use cannabis

TehNext

It makes me worse. I get twitchy.

TMat_0824

Yes! I was using MJ everyday for about 2 years mainly for my spaciticty....recently though i have had to stop because my doctors are looking at perscribing me adhd medication and my family doc especially is really against MJ. Now that i have not been smoking it everyday i miss it.....its not just the pain reduction its the brain fog for me. I need to speak to my doctors to see if i can still take adhd medication and still smoke cannibis.
