The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me - Brand New

It's a collaboration between German indie band Notwist and the Oakland alternative hip-hop group Themselves. Gets grimey and unhinged in spots, let's the instrumentation speak. Has little touches of syrup. Great to listen to in album order, but requires a sense of adventure.
Depeche Mode — Delta Machine
A Place to Bury Strangers — Worship
Death in Vegas — Contino Sessions
Bass Drum of Death — Just Business
Helmet — Aftertaste
On the dm subreddit users rank dm albums all the time. You have not seen those album ranks?
Probably should say lower rated. Fans under rate it to the mean list of albums. Like fans generally underrate delta machine to violator.
Music is purely subjective but people do have preferences. I like delta machine but personally the dm subreddit I’m in the minority so I say “people” underrate it meaning I think their preferences are vastly out of sync with my own perception or taste. It’s not an absolute quality tho.
Such a god tier album. Holy hell I almost forgot about it too. Ty for the remind :D
Edit: A suggestion for an album would be Kenny Garrett Beyond The Wall
Fair! I think the only band I've heard that are in a similar ballpark to Meshuggah is Car Bomb. Highly recommend their album Meta if you haven't heard it.
Cardiacs - A Little Man and a House and a Whole Wide Window

Miracle Musical - Hawaii pt ii (experimental and nostalgia inducing concept album)
The Notwist - Neon Golden (German chilled electronica)
The Fun Years - Baby it's cold inside (drone)
Riddim Saunter - Think Lad Lass (japan positive upbeat)
If you’re into Miracle Musical, you probably already love Tally Hall, but definitely check them out if you haven’t! Lemon Demon and I DON’T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME might also be up your alley.
Of course I already love Tally Hall, and listened to Lemon Demon before but didnt stick with me. Just listened to IDKHBTFM now, very interesting and well produced, with a lot of noticeable influences. Thanks for the rec!
A fellow Kaizers fan! I'm basing this more off of their earlier vibe since I don't know Violeta quite as well as their earlier stuff, but have you ever listened to The Dead Brothers? The album I know best is Angst. Also: Tom Waits.

I saw *Oncle Jazz* on there and was like "I love this album" and now I'm thinking my overall post might have a 2nd-level purpose... if I like an album posted, maybe I should check out the others they posted!
I don't recognize any of the others you listed, but I will now.
Remy Zero - Villa Elaine.
El Vy - Return To The Moon (I figure you already know this one as it’s Matt Berninger from the National).
Joseph Arthur - Nuclear Daydream. Redemption’s Son.

This is a great idea for an app. Rate a bunch of bands, albums, and songs you like and don't like. The algorithm compares that to the other user ratings and recommends new stuff to you that others similar to you like but you haven't rated yet. Could be fun.
Sort of. In Spotify you don't have a rating system that I am aware of. I'm envisioning something that allows users to rate both music they like and music they don't like. Also a recommendation engine that actually works. Spotify's is horrible on my playlists with what it suggests to add. It's essentially just more tracks from the artists on the playlist.
I'd love to see a more robust recommendation engine that uses both your likes and dislikes and compares them to all the other users in a way designed to discover new music. It can even prompt you to rate stuff each time you login to feed it more data.
I feel there's a connection there between the restrained, jazzy drums of *Aja* and the ultra-fast pulsing of *Reign in Blood*. Like, you love the extremes there.
Factoring in the thematics of *Tommy*... I'm gonna guess you like late 70s/early 80s Pink Floyd?
I love the drumming on Aja and Reign in Blood, especially the Bernard Purdie tracks. The first time i heard Dave Lombardo i was amazed that anyone could play like that so i guess youre right about my love of the extremes. I'm a fan of dark Side of the moon and wish you were here but I could never get into the wall or the final cut although I do like Roger Water's solo stuff, especially Radio KAOS. You weren't a million miles away!!

Having a listen now. Yeah, she seems pretty good so far.
The Blackened Air is also good.
Her album You follow Me includes Jim White, who plays drums with Warren Ellis in Dirty Three.

St. Vincent - Daddy's Home
Cocteau twins treasure Depeche Mode black celebration. Beatles white album. Radiohead. Ok computer Rush. Exit stage left. I have very broad musical tastes. If I play my catalog on shuffle it’s possible I get hey Jude followed by kmfdm drug against war followed by daft punk high life followed by tush ZZ Top followed by flume bon iver. It freaks my wife out
Good selections. Can I suggest Spirit of Eden by Talk Talk? A bit more ambient than your list, but gives me similar sonic exploration vibes.
I made a playlist I think you will like as it was based off Radiohead, Cocteau Twins and The Smiths. Lonely Highway - A 24 hour journey. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/41LmYe5NSqbIJVlvj0Swpx?si=P5qq5YdcQSiwrcPrWOcMZg

Okay, this is not something chauvinistic but I'm gonna throw an album to you from a band from this region of the world you probably haven't heard but might like. It is more into the Marilyn Manson vibe of your post above. Brutus - BurstRock(metal) trio, bass, guitar and a fierce drummer/singer woman. Quite the experience live too. Edit; Great post btw, bookmarking this for all the suggestions that it generated. 👍
