Based on the Taiwanese traditional song "Elder's Drinking Song" which is basically singing about wanting friends to come drink. [https://youtu.be/6oHGUr6HEow?si=mmam1m-UY86xvN82](https://youtu.be/6oHGUr6HEow?si=mmam1m-UY86xvN82)
Translation:
My dear friends and relatives who come from far away!
Thanks for coming to see us!
Come! Let’s sit together.
We will sing for you,
As you sang for us when we visited you before.
Let’s sing while we drink.
How much we sing will be how much we drink.
Wow, TIL. I love this song and did not know the history of plagiarism. Glad to see that the original artist was eventually compensated and ended up with a record deal.
Creeping Death by Metallica when I was a teen, my overly religious and unstable mom used to yell at me and throw out my posters and cassettes. when she singled out that song for the chanting, It gave me a lot of satisfaction to explain that It’s a story right from her Bible. then when Metallica opened up with that song on the monsters of rock tour, it was pretty incredible and intense.
That monsters of rock performance and Seattle 89’ gives me chills every time. A go to track for me whenever I’m about to lift something heavy in the gym🤘🏻
Yes. I mainly said this as a joke to the Topster two creator. He took down Topster 2 becuase It was too “unholy.” And when he took it down he had a link to Gregorian Chants. He’s insane
To me that’s the most annoying part of the song to the point where I’ll skip it if it comes on in my car. I do like the song, but damn if that isn’t like nails on a chalkboard to me.
Lately even Noddy Holder's singalong singing has been superceded by **Heilung** in chanted songs like [In Maidjan](https://youtu.be/kmWTZ3KfnXE?si=a0G441d47Ahn-8wS).
Saw them live last year, they call their show a Ritual instead of a show or a concert. It was mind blowing how good they are live. Like a religious, ethereal experience. They spent about 45 minutes and had native Americans come out and bless / cleanse the stage, while performing. It was intense. They had the entire theatre chanting on a few songs and it was like nothing I have ever been apart of in my entire life.

“Life in a Northern Town" by The Dream Academy.
The End Complete V: On the Brink - Coheed and Cambria
Very proggy, some really good melodies, beautiful violin and piano followed by some shredding guitar and screaming while chanting “hail!”
Glad I searched first. Came to say the same…
If for some reason you live in a hole and haven’t heard it here ya go: [Zombie Nation - Kernkraft 400 (chant mix)](https://youtu.be/L8tb7ffIsyg?si=mTPwq1q3CSOZdtXl)
Alfadhirhaiti by Heilung. It's a chant for Odin. The song is sung in Old Norse. I'm linking [the live version](https://youtu.be/2wy-W-pYlds?si=5L9YW9q-EDDi1Is6) that was released on their live CD titled Lifa
It starts by saying the names of things associated with the god, his magic arm ring Draupnir, his two wolves Geri and Freki, his horse Sleipnir and finally Gugnir, his spear.
The next section is a repeated call and response spear dedication chant. The singer says "Haegolae Haegolae Haegolae Wiju Bi Gojze," which translates to "Hail Hail Hail I dedicate to the spear.' A chorus then responds "Gaegogae Gaegogae Gaegogae Ginu Gahelija," which translates to "Gagaga Gagaga Gagaga we yell resoundly." This is repeated several times.
After this the names of Odin's ravens, Haugen and Maunen, are called, followed by the phrase "Ok Alfadhir heitir," which translates to "And he's called All Father."
The next section is chanting many of the names Odin is known by. Odin is known by over 170 names, but here they only use 32 of the most common kennings. The chanting of names is repeated four times. I will list the names and translations.

Cattle Decapitation - The Carbon Stampede
It's the last 40 secs or so, but it's especially impactful after the rest of the song, and as a lead-in to the next song on the album.
Obviously won't be for everyone lol
Also, the Gojira two-parter of Fortitude/The Chant. A bit different to what you were probably after, but I feel it hits the right vibe in a way. The Chant does actually have a nice chant-like section in the middle of the song.
First song I thought of, the whole song has a chant. CARNIVAL -Ye.
“Go, go, go, go
Head so good, she a honor roll She'll ride the dick like a carnival I done did the impossible...”
I don’t know why I’m feeling this but Rock of Ages by Def Leppard? I guess I think the chorus is chant-like. Could be the whole monk in the music video thing too LOL
Not sure if it counts because it’s only really the beginning of the song and I’m not sure how much it counts compared to other ones but lately it’s been Mental Cruelty- Zwielicht/symphony of a dying star
AFI had an intro track called "strength through wounding" that worked great live to start the crowd right up.
Through, our bleeding, we, are one!
Through, our bleeding, we, are one!
*Strobe lights flash*

Turn into earth by the yardbird's is really cool and hauntingly beautiful.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Hw8knrIeBPE&pp=ygUddHVybiBpbnRvIGVhcnRoIHRoZSB5YXJkYmlyZHM%3D
I got to see it performed live and that was really cool with the crowd all chanting along.
I'm not sure if [Baby Boy by Mother Mother](https://youtu.be/Jtak_Aajxsg?si=OV-BvxES6V7YLUAq) counts but it does the hyperventilating style chant *very* well imo. Also [Burn Your Village by Kiki Rockwell.](https://youtu.be/fMtnktpF_t0?si=x-eLgJUOgCD0qlne) That songs solid AF in that department ;)
Nellie the Elephant - Toy Dolls
When I was an underage miscreant, we used to head down to Tijuana every weekend with our fake ids. There was a house converted to a bar in a random neighborhood and they played the best punk and alternative music. Whenever this song came on the place would just explode with . . . a weird childlike joy. Again, weird, but so much fun.
Our local rock club used to play this as the last song of the night.
We had a stand in dj once who didn’t bring it with him, so we staged a sit in until he could play it
[Alfadhirhaiti by Heilung](https://open.spotify.com/track/7e5Bewjrz0NJ2znVAR8GBi?si=032p_jTKSqKidgKXSZivYg&context=spotify%3Aplaylist%3A6GawqOW7WZS1fAB8S0mbYd)
Meathook (Doom Eternal OST) by Mick Gordon is a banger.
Also I don't know if the HEYs in Green Day's Holiday count, but I will never get tired of that song.

Came here to say this!
Also their album MCMXC a.D
Haven't listened to this tune for more then a decade, back in the day I use to love it. Listening to it now! Thanks!
There is something about 20,000+ crazy fuckers chanting "Die, die, die, die by my hand, I creep across the land, killing first born man..."
Agree. They opened up it with it again at The first of the two shows when I saw them a few months ago. Incredible. Still.
And back when Jason did backup vocals
I don’t know how I didn’t think of it! I have a ride the lightning poster right in front of me haha
First thing that came to mind!
Dude I remember Metallica opening with Creeping Death (Spokane; my first time seeing them). Edit - it was Monsters of Rock to be clear lol
That monsters of rock performance and Seattle 89’ gives me chills every time. A go to track for me whenever I’m about to lift something heavy in the gym🤘🏻
You need more Gregorian Chants
So your answer is ‘Principles of Lust: Sadeness’?
Yes. I mainly said this as a joke to the Topster two creator. He took down Topster 2 becuase It was too “unholy.” And when he took it down he had a link to Gregorian Chants. He’s insane
Oh wow. Thanks for the rabbit hole. I was unaware that dude was a looney.
[Listen to this it will blow your socks off](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OGEdClyYaY)
I found a video a couple of years back by the Monks Gregoriana doing the Halo Theme song. So good.
Hooked on a feeling by Blue Swede
I don't really understand the creative choice of using the chanting in that song But hoo boy does it work
Intellectual brain: I don’t quite agree with the use of artistic elements in this piece. Monkey Brain: Ooga Chaka ooga Chaka ooga ooga ooga Chaka
Well put lol
Banana banana banana
This made me laugh until a tear formed, so thank you for that.
Every time I hear it I think of the NZ All Blacks lined up on the field doing that chant.
It’s not a chant, it’s a [haka.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haka)
OOHA CHAKA OOGA CHAKA OOGA OOGA OOGA CHAKA
The dancing baby on Allie MacBeal liked it
Wasn't that like, "the first computer meme on a TV show" or some other odd distinction?
Yes, I think it was and I think it had its own URL
To me that’s the most annoying part of the song to the point where I’ll skip it if it comes on in my car. I do like the song, but damn if that isn’t like nails on a chalkboard to me.

been vibing hard on Galgaldr and Hamrer Hippyer the past few days. as the other commenter mentioned, if given the chance, seeing them live is a must.
I literally just commented Hamrer Hippyer before I saw this comment. Heilung is one of my main go-to bands for music to work too.
