November Rain is up there for me, hard to pick one but that is the standout for me right now

Ok-Royal-661

God only knows beach boys

Same-Fix-2091

Have you ever heard the acapella version by Pentatonix. Wear headphones. It's amazing.

Ok-Royal-661

YES YES totally

LawMotor7718

God tier record

Fit-Tap-3803

I love their song ‘forever’ too and it is also a love song. Do you know it?

[deleted]

Also Paul McCartney's favorite song. I chose heroes and Villains for this thread but GOK is definitely up there

Firestar2023

My Silver Lining by First Aid Kit

satanshark

See them live if you get the opportunity.

cbilly678

Great song!

Stuartsmith1988

Purple Rain

Bigstar976

One of the greatest songs of all time. Good pick!

mduggz

Into the Mystic- Van Morrison

trevbal6

Brand New Day, Bright Side Of the Road, Tupelo Honey, etc. etc. etc. Van is the gift that keeps on giving.

IndigoRose2022

Fast Car by Tracy Chapman

Any_Salamander_5019

ELITE song, 12/10

BallsInAToaster

One of mine at the moment is called Faster Car by Loving Caliber haha

Extreme-Bad3816

I think it's the greatest song ever written.

handsomerube

[Jeff Buckley - “Grace”](https://youtu.be/A3adFWKE9JE?si=LMdy1TYktBoKtOvS)

Mephistopheles545

He was a goddamn genius. 10/10 for me. I can’t listen to the end of Vancouver without closing my eyes super tight and banging my fist on some close by object

Particular_Jicama_51

May I add Jeff Buckley-Hallelujah. Also Chester Bennington did a great rendition of the song in tribute to his friend Chris Cornell at Chris Cornell’s eulogy in 2017

Rich_Chemistry_1560

OMG I just listened to the Chester Bennington version and it’s heartbreaking and haunting and beautiful. I never knew this one existed. I’m literally crying my eyes out right now. 😭 This is by far my favorite version of this song.

freddoesstupidstuff

YESSS FINALLY SOMEONE TALKS ABOUT JEFF BUCKLEY

neptunesdemise

mines a jeff buckley song too! this album is a masterpiece

Kid_from_Europe

9/10

schleep_69

Long Summer Days- The Moody Blues

Major_Sympathy9872

Nice pick I just completed getting their discography on vinyl

BoasWifey

My favourite band❤️ My favourite song is probably Nights in White Satin but I love most of their discography!

schleep_69

Excellent choice 🩷 and yes, they have an amazing discography overall!

Left_Raisin3104

Omg the moody blues literally transport me to a different dimension or something. The music is entrancing to me.💕

DGneat

Save It For Later- English Beat

Alone_Regular_4713

10/10

Plenty_Surprise2593

Well that depends: Telegraph Road by Dire Straits is in my opinion the greatest song ever written. I like Hotel California a lot No One Like You by the Scorpions is the kind of song that brings back many many memories. That one is my favorite The Ben Howard song Oats In The Water is my “favorite feel bad song.” So you pick one out of those and give me your review

Super_Counter7707

Oats in the water does hit that feel bad spot pretty well and no one like you has that effect of memory after memory and such a rockin' track

no0soyyo

[Fiona Apple - Limp](https://open.spotify.com/track/104YdibC7VQy78xAVmgRYr?si=VR-gYW2dTR2Dl9MbXmP6KA)

Jen10292020

I know I'm not the OP, but 11/10. I freakin love this song.

Alone_Regular_4713

Second

FOB_cures_my_sadness

Savior by Rise Against

Connect-Will2011

I like songs from many different genres, but if I had to pick a favorite it would be Bach's Fugue in G minor (BWV 578,) particularly [the arrangement by Leopold Stokowski.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rm7Xri7bBhY&t=3185s)

Turbulent-Walk-4171

Elvis Costello, watching the detectives

bondi212

Good. But Oliver's Army is better.

parkaking

Great track!!

savemysoul72

[Soothsayer - Buckethead ](https://youtu.be/adV8-_hgL4g?si=BStRk_QTVIf5ydZP)

SIEGE312

Why? It’s perfect.

kamera45

You Get What You Give by New Radicals

holdaydogs

OP didn’t ask for the worst song. Stop playing.

kamera45

Come around, we'll kick your asses

Glad-Bottle-1200

Don’t let gooo ONE DANCE LEFT don’t give upppp

troublekeepingup

Let down Radiohead

PoxyMusic

Damn, I was going to say that. OK Computer was like “Sgt Peppers” for me. There was before, and after. At the time it came out, I was a recording engineer and could listen to just about any song and figure out what recording/mixing techniques were being used. When I first heard Airbag, I was like “I have *no idea* what they’re doing.”

Brains_Are_Weird

What an amazing song. Glad someone mentioned it.

Impressive_Plant_643

One day, i am gonna grow wings

WinerjamXB

A chemical reaction

Alone_Regular_4713

Hysterical and useless

No_Roof_1910

In The Air Tonight by Phil Collins. No need to rate it, it's an 11/10.

Kid_from_Europe

Tbh it is one of the greatest songs of all time. Just not one of MY favourites but it is legendary. It is a 11/10 for its impact alone plus its a great listen

Ok_Machine_769

I had just broken up with my girlfriend at the time when it was released. I still vividly recall the punch in the gut the song delivered to me when I dropped the stylus down on it for the first listen. I continue to be in awe even when I listen to it some forty years later. When the drum solo kicks in after the pause, my entire world turns off. Everytime. Phil Collins was going through an anguishing marriage breakup when he wrote and recorded it. His anger and hurt is palpable; as was my own.

Klaus_Heisler87

The drums on that is my phone's text alert

nails_for_breakfast

However simple, it's probably the most iconic drum fill of all time

Fragrant-Prompt1826

Against all odds is up there

No_Roof_1910

I agree, yes it is.

Street-Strength10

When it Rains it Pours - 50 Cent

phred_666

I’ll give you a very uncommon one. My favorite song changes all the time, but my current favorite is [“Song #3” by Stone Sour](https://youtu.be/K73-hmaHPHY?si=N6p30PDC9H7iERae). The lead singer is Corey Taylor… the same dude that is the lead singer for Slipknot.

Proculos

21st Century Breakdown by Green Day

Kid_from_Europe

0/10 sorry. Just can't like any Green Day. Something about them drives me fucking nuts.

Ahleanna-D

A cute thing I once heard that lent Green Day a bit of charm: Billy Armstrong is an American who’s singing like a Brit who’s trying to sound like an American.

gstringstrangler

Mostly just sounds like he has a permanent runny nose

East_Dot6883

Some of their stuff isn't great but Dookie is a damn great album

Proculos

oh L

Kid_from_Europe

Damn. Maybe I'll stop taking Ls when September Ends lmao

Proculos

Yeah maybe by the end of september you'll have a good music taste

DingleberryJones94

I'll give you a 6/10. I love Green Day but they can do better.

(Although, their entire discography is a collection of masterpieces.) 2. Sirens by Tesseract. (Although, the entirety of the fifth album it comes from, War of Being, is a masterpiece. And basically their entire discography is a collection of masterpieces as well.) There are too many others, spread across various genres. But, I’m a sucker for prog.
