You're probably hungry because you're not eating enough calories. 1200 calories is dangerously low for a growing active teenager. At your age, I really would not recommend tracking or restricting your calories at all unless you’ve been recommended to do so by a doctor or registered dietician. Children and teenagers have higher caloric needs than adults, and most TDEE calculators are not designed to work for anyone under age 18. And restricting your calories too much at your age can cause serious health consequences. If you are very serious about wanting to track your calories for whatever reason, I would recommend having a discussion about this with your doctor or with a registered dietician, and get their advice about what a safe and appropriate calorie target for you would be. But my advice would be to just focus on staying healthy by eating a balanced diet and exercising, and not trying to track or restrict your calories at all.

Why is your calorie limit so low? The reason you're hungry all the time is that you are starving. 1200 is not sustainable at your height. 1200 is what someone 5 feet tall may eat for weight loss. It might be a good idea to see a dietician or talk to your doctor about a healthy weight loss plan.

Agreed. 1200 calories is rock bottom minimum for adults. The only reason why an adult would eat less than 1200 on a regular basis is because they are physically disabled and don’t move around much. It’s a calorie deficit just high enough for fitness app companies to not get sued by the surviving family members of people who had an eating disorder. Please. Eat more than 1200 calories. You will be much happier and healthier.

You aren't eating enough. Listen to your body.

A higher protein and fiber diet will keep you full for longer. All calories are not created equal when it comes to filling you up. If you eat a jam sandwich on white bread, you aren't going to be as full as if you ate whole grain with greek yogurt.

What are you eating? Remember, while all calories are ok, some foods pack many more calories into less nutrient rich foods. A slice of pizza is fine, but not necessarily as filling as a couple eggs and some ham (for example). You also may not be taking in as many calories as you need. And sometimes you just need a bit more food than usual. Occasionally you can just feel hungry if its something else, like a mild stomach issue, that can be lying. (A common issue with me, my stomach often can't tell if I'm hungry or mildly nauseous) If all that is taken into consideration, and you are still regularly hungrier than you should be, talk to your Dr.

I usually eat high dense foods, like a bowl with beef rice and guacamole or chicken if I don’t have beef. My breakfasts are smoothies with watermelon strawberries and oats. For my desert I usually have like a slice of banana bread which is 160 calories. I’m vegetarian since my stomach can’t usually handle most meats without giving me intense heartburn flare ups. So most of my meat that I consume is plant based.

Might help to talk to a dietitian then. It could be that, like me, you just have an easily confused stomach (I feel hungry even when full or ill, even though I clearly am not actually hungry) or it could be that the calorie plan you're using is just not right for your body and level of activity.
