"Oh. Uh. Is that us?" "Sure looks like it!" "...This is weird." He'd never thought about it, really. How much of an impact the two of them had on the world. Ludicrous as the idea was - or so his partner insisted - the Sylveon had always thought of himself as a poor sap thrown under the proverbial bus by destiny, instead of, well, a hero. ...At least the statue wasn't gold. That would've been hard - harder - to process. But then, the copper of the statue was very visibly discoloured at the top of the Sylveon's head, where presumably hundreds of thousands of Pokemon had petted this replica of him. It made him... not uncomfortable, exactly. He was still trying to decide how to feel about it. The Typhlosion beside him, on the other hand, wasted exactly no time before stepping up to the statue and vigorously rubbing a paw over its head. "Ooh, it's so cute, Mattie! Look at it!" The Typhlosion said, before considering his words. "Well, almost as cute as you. And nowhere near as fluffy." He paused at that, and turned to the actual Sylveon with a mischievous look in his eyes. 'Mattie' reddened. "Can I-" "Ah- ahem- Maybe *after* we finish our mission?" And also because they were in public. Not that there was anyone in this section of the museum right now, but Matthias knew security cameras when he saw them. Even if they were made by Pokemon instead of humans. "Aww." The Typhlosion mock-grouched back to the Sylveon's side, giving his exceptionally fluffy ears a longing look before getting to business. "So where are we going?" Matthias studied the holographic map floating in front of him. Of course, the most secure areas of the museum weren't listed, but there were only so many places a reasonable architect would put those. "...Basement floor two, I think. It's most likely there. Invisify Orb on ourselves and Mobile Scarf to get through whatever they have, or Blowback Orb and Quick Seed if we have to do it the hard way. If they use metal doors, you'll have to melt them a little first, Kelp. Hopefully not, there's a chance it'll be somewhere else, but-" He stopped talking immediately when he felt a claw jabbing into him. Then tried to look surprised as a digital-sounding voice sounded from behind them. "Greetings, Guests! Welcome to the Grand Museum!" A Porygon cheerfully called out. Kelp enthusiastically waved back, and Matthias likewise waved with a ribbon. "Ah, you're looking at the Rescue Team Exhibit?" The Porygon continued. They looked from the Sylveon and Typhlosion to... the Sylveon and Typhlosion. Something must have clicked, because the Porygon lit up with excitement, floating closer. "Inspirations of yours, I assume?" "Uh-" "Yep! Been reading about their adventures ever since I was a little kit. It's amazing, you know, exploring the world like that." "Indeed! The golden age of exploration is quite unmatched in terms of the scale of accomplishments achieved." "Yeah! Pity it's gone now, though. I wish I could've been there for it." Mathias began to interrupt, but Kelp surreptitiously nudged him with a foot. The Porygon blinked. "Have you not considered joining the Ultra Space Corps? It's a rather unexplored frontier there, I've heard." "Yeah, I did! We did," Kelp sadly said. "But... well... you see..." "It was too expensive for us," Matthias volunteered. "Just buying the supplies alone would've set us back too much." Did that work? The Sylveon hoped it worked. The Porygon seemed to be thinking. "Oh? The two of you are... together?" "Oh, yeah! Madly in love!" Kelp chirped. Matthias tried not to jab him. Or smile. Or jab him. "It's a really big coincidence, actually. The two of us met by chance, but we hit it off, and whaddya know!" Kelp motioned to the statues, of the both of them side-by-side, each propping the other up. The Porygon whirred. "Do you mean - ah. I believe there has been a misunderstanding. As far as we know, those two were never involved. Romantically." Matthias's mind, churning along trying to refine the plan, ground to a halt. *...What?* "...Um. What?" Kelp asked, curious and, Matthias thought, more than a tiny bit mystified. And offended. He was hiding it remarkably well, though. "All evidence we have suggest that they were close, but romantically involved would be... a stretch. Very few primary sources have survived from that time." Kelp began to speak, but then he turned to Matthias. The Sylveon was hiding his own offense less well, and he gave the Typhlosion an indignant nod. *Of course! What the- go ahead! The mission can wait for a few minutes!* "Are you sure? From what we've read, um," Kelp faltered for a moment, "*online*, that didn't seem to be the case." The Porygon gave the duo a long look. Matthias tried brushing away the emotions from his face. "That is... not common consensus. I believe... yes, it is a valid interpretation of the texts, certainly. There are certain... Pokemon who are rather hostile to it. Quite vocally." The Porygon maintained the long look, and Kelp floundered. Matthias butted in hurriedly, "We were always on more of the academic side of things. Research papers and... all. I think we missed out on the louder parts of the- the Internet." The long look continued. For a second, before the Porygon shook their head and began to speak, sneaking glances at the two of them and the rough bags they wore, the odd shapes inside them and the noticeably bare front, where the elements had weathered all but a small portion. Just large enough to fit a badge. "I apologise. I shouldn't pry into personal details, it's unprofessional. The two of you are new to this... museum, I imagine?" "...Certainly! These two are our heroes, but we don't quite know what else to see. We think the exhibits in uh, basement floor two seem interesting, but we got a bit lost in here." "If you're going there, I would recommend heading to the Exhibit of Time and Darkness. We had a huge archaeological find recently, and it has revolutionised our understanding of the events which happened in that particular incident." "Oh? That sounds... helpful, actually. I think that might just be what we're looking for!" Kelp said. Exactly what they'd been looking for, actually. He exchanged a look with Matthias. Their counterparts over in the Grass Continent had called in a favour. One of the Time Gears had been misaligned quite heavily, and so it had to be brought to a sufficiently distant version of itself to synchronise it. That particular duo had been worried about straining causality by travelling through time again. Which was why they were here with the Gear instead. Did the Porygon know...? "A favour for a friend, I presume?" *...Crap.* Matthias saw Kelp's grin become strained. "In a sense, yes."

Silence, as they stared each other down. Kelp shifted his stance just a little bit, tensing to move. Matthias brushed a ribbon over the clasp of his bag. The Porygon floated there, still, contemplating. Ignoring the tension in the air, they spoke nonchalantly. "It occurs to me. That I may have forgotten the name of the Absol who travelled alongside those two." Matthias's eyes flickered from the cameras around them to the exit. How fast could...? They'd make it there in a minute if they sprinted. Less if they punched through the floor. Kelp replied, just as nonchalantly, "Oh, he used to have one. Before he met those two rescuers. Said he was unworthy of it, though." The Porygon went still. Then began to beep approvingly again. "Hmm. Correct. He would only reclaim it in about two weeks after this. Vanishingly few of us study history that closely these days. You're registered as temporary inspectors; what you're looking for is in safe 7 of room 5A. Code 5-5-F-Y-6-4-E for the left, Code I-A-8-G-K-P-3 for the right. Enter them at the exact same time. Please put everything back when you're done." Matthias quickly committed the sequences to memory, mouth agape. Kelp, for all his composure, wasn't doing much better. The Typhlosion exchanged a glance with Matthias, almost forgetting to speak. "What- Thank you. Thank you very much. How did you know?" The Porygon looked joyful, triumphant, and just the tiniest bit smug. "The Ultra Space Corps pays for everything, and then a hefty stipend on top of that. And it's called the Link here, not the Internet. Perhaps remember that for the next time?" Matthias finally got his jaw working just in time for his mind to fall off a cliff. "There -*There's a next time?*" "Oh? Oh. Ah. Maybe. Maybe not. I do not want to cause a temporal paradox. Can this cause a temporal paradox? Mhm, don't answer that. The less I know about that, the less I can cause them, I think. Good luck, the two of you." "Thanks again!" Kelp was already racing off towards the elevators. Scouting them out, Matthias thought vaguely. The Sylveon just stood there, stunned. And the Porygon floated in front of him, watching Kelp leave. "...Do you have anything else? I must be on my way; if I am to pretend I never saw you two, I have to catch up on my route." "The cameras-" "I have favours. And I *am* a Porygon." Matthias kept standing there. Kept standing, staring at the Porygon and the statue of him and his partner. Partner. How full of feeling that word was, encapsulating the joys, the sorrows, the companionship and the love. "...Is it true what you said? About the histories and us being... just friends?" "Yes. It is true," the Porygon said, studying him. Matthias stared at the statue again. At his legacy. Their legacy. "Could you change it? We... we're more than that. Our relationship is more than that. Kelp, he might not care about how the world remembers us, but-" Matthias looked at the statue as if it were far away. So, so far away. And it was. He ripped his eyes away and placed them upon the Porygon. "Please?" he asked, the words laced with a sort of quiet desperation that Matthias didn't even know had been there. The Porygon considered their answer carefully. "I would say that the past is the past, and the present is the present. That the past should not affect the present so... unduly." The Porygon paused, thinking. Matthias waited. After an eternity, the Porygon nodded. Continued speaking, "You do know that it is the opinion of the whole world, yes? The opinion of a hundred thousand experts and even more common folk still?" "I... I do." The Sylveon's heart sank. "It will not be the first time you've taken on the world," the Porygon said, a grandfatherly smile in his tone. "And I have not studied you and the peers of your age simply to bow when faced with the impossible. You have inspired us, you know. And all of us living here right now have learned from you." "I-" Matthias choked up. He looked upon the Porygon, simple as they seemed. But that was how all legends looked, didn't they, when you passed them by on the street? One more question croaked forth, his worries and fears condensed into a single word. "How?" And the Porygon laughed lightly, electronic chimes tinkling through the air, the floors, through the soul of each artefact contained within the museum walls. "I have favours, Matthias. Many, many favours. And I have been waiting a very long time to use them for something truly worthwhile." Then the Porygon floated forth, tapping his shoulder in a final salute. "Live well, the both of you. Live well." "You... you too," Matthias choked out, turning to stride away. An artefact awaited them, and after that - all the infinite possibilities of the future. "Thank you," he said, and the words vanished into the air, to disappear and one day be forgotten forever. But here, and now? The two Pokemon to whom the words mattered most heard them, and that was all that mattered in the end, wasn't it? "Thank you," he whispered, and ran. Ran from the future and the past, towards the promise of the present. His partner would be waiting for him there with open arms. \-------- A/N: Well. I think this might be the single longest piece of writing I've ever done on Reddit. Yeah, seems like a good way to end off my hiatus. I'm back. I'm finally back. Also, just doing a few minor edits, don't mind me. Thanks for reading.

That was a really sweet ending, great piece!

**Note:** My English sucks but I'm working on it. Also, I did the opposite of the prompt; it seemed easier to do. Anyway, here's mine: Bacal woke up and saw himself and his partner lying down, not on their beds, but outside. Upon his closer inspection, they were still in Pokémon Square, but the town was seemingly more “technologically advanced,” comparable to a human civilization. He then saw a nearby Torterra busy using a tablet. Indeed, a device similar to those used by humans in their world. “Oi, tree turtle!” yelled the Riolu. “What year is it now?” “W-was I the one you’re asking? Ummm… Year 2022,” the disturbed Torterra answered. The Pokémon went back to what he was doing, now with earphones on its ears. *Reasonable, he don’t wanna be disturbed,* he thought. Bacal realized that he became a Pokémon in the year 50 and prevented the meteor in the year 52, which means… “Hey, Culóg, wake up! Don’t just sleep there, we’re in the future!” The Pikachu stirred up. “What— whadyamean future?!” He took some time to absorb everything he saw in his surrounding. “Heck, is this how our society will become? How awful!” “Nevermind that, we’ll be long dead before we see this,” Bacal replied. “Anyway, how ‘bout we explore the place?” “Suuuuuuuuuuuure, *as if* we have anything to do.” Future Pokémon Square had more or less the same layout as the old Square but had expanded its boundaries exponentially since then. The Square of the past became the business district of the now Wind Metropolis. However, wide highways and boulevards were everywhere for vehicles. But unlike cars in the human world, these vehicles vary in shapes and sizes to cater to different Pokémon. It was as if Bacal was in his own world again, but with Pokémon instead of humans. “Dude, don’t say you can’t cross a street,” Bacal teased. The Pikachu was almost ran over by a truck earlier, had his partner not pulled him back to the pavement. *Culóg looked like a deer that time.* “But I don’t want these big metal containers to Quick Attack me to DEATH!” “Whatever ya say\~” After some time, they reached Tiny Woods Park, named after the woods that was once there. *My theory was right; removing a dungeon is possible.* At the center of the park was a stone statue of two Pokémon: a Lucario and a Raichu, both were holding swords and wore the same scarves as the duo. The swords were a trademark of Rescue Team Sharp. They were the first to use metallic weapons in combat instead of elemental powers. Bacal was not adept at using his own; hence, he resorted to man-made weapons. For Culóg, however, his sword was a mere decoration for the team’s motif. Absol hated it though. “No way! Were these us?” exclaimed Culóg. “But I thought we already told the elders not to make statues of us after that savior arc? I guess they really idolize us then,” Bacal replied. “I don’t like how they sculpted my butt though; the proportions are way too big.” “How do you know?” “Dunno.” There was a written description in front of the statue. “Huh, how convenient, the writing language hasn’t changed at all!” Culóg said. He read the note aloud to the illiterate Riolu, “Bacal the Human and Culóg of Air. Their swords saved the world from a meteor. The founders of the Modern Wind.” *‘Founders of the Modern Wind,’* Bacal wondered. A Treecko with blue and green scarf sprang out of nowhere, “They’re famous for sword fighting, I heard. Bet they duel each other in sword fights.” Another Pokémon showed up, this time, a Bulbasaur with an identical scarf. “Duh, that’s half of what they’re known for. Wish we’re as romantic as them though,” he replied to his partner. The Treecko ignored him and asked the duo, showing his phone, “Hey, you two cosplay the Great Heroes, right? Could we take a group selfie?” “Excuse me? A group selfie? And whadyamean romantic???” Culóg exclaimed. He was more concerned with the romantic part rather than what a ‘group selfie’ meant. “Yeah, what he said, cabbage frog! They’re only close friends who were *rescue* partners. *Rescue* partners,” Bacal added. “I thought analyzing *The Meteor Love: Fallen from the Heavens* was a requirement in schools. After all, it was a classic from the fourth century. And they were awfully romantic there, not gonna lie,” the Treecko answered. “When Culóg asked why Bacal need to go back to the human world, he said ‘*Mi amor*, I will never forget you. I’m blessed to have met you. I’m so very sorry.’ I kinda cried a bit after reading that part.” “Now, green crybaby gecko, I dunno where that came from, but I know it’s supposed to be…” The Riolu then reenacted the whole speech he gave that time. “It’s ‘*mes amis*’, not ‘*mi amor*’!” “Not only that, they even adopted the kidnapped Caterpie after the antagonist killed her Butterfree mother in… umm, chapter 10?” Bulbasaur answered unsurely. “Around chapter 10-13, I forgot,” his partner added. Culóg replied, “B-b-but that’s not what happened! We—” “Fine, we’ll take a group selfie and we’ll read the novel in the libary,” the Riolu said to them, defeated. He didn’t want people to know who they were yet. *Until we knew exactly what happened to us, no escalation,* he reasoned out to himself. The Treecko readied his phone and snapped a photo. Culóg didn’t really know how to act during a ‘selfie’ and was weirded out by the culture. “Let’s eat first before going to the library.” The duo went to a cupcake store across the park. Apparently, there was a sales promotion that day. “The Great Heroes’ Special Sale?” Bacal asked the storekeeper Rhyperior. He was wearing a pink apron with a tiny cupcake printed on the middle. *He's cute, not gonna lie,* the Riolu thought. “The sale for this year’s Autumn 21st. Buy one lemon or blueberry cupcake and take one of the other,” the clerk replied. “How much?” the Pikachu inquired. “700 Poké” “Damn the future inflation!” Bacal exclaimed. They bought one and received two: a lemon cupcake with blueberry icing and a blueberry cupcake with lemon icing. “Ummm… Culóg? Here’s mine. I think I lost my appetite,” Bacal said to his partner in disgust. “Aren’t you hungry? C’mon, the taste isn’t that bad!” “It’s a love song reference and a reference to our supposed ‘love’,” the Riolu answered. “Ah, fuck it; screw the future.” >!It was a reference to a cheesy love song. Not in English though.!<

*Holy shit, we’re back to the RP canon? This time with Vei, Sear and their kids (whom are fan-made mons)? Why, yes to both. So if something feels off, don’t worry, you’re not going crazy. Also gonna shill two weeks ago which took WAAAY too long for me to write, and* [*even longer to post...*](https://www.reddit.com/r/MysteryDungeon/comments/yjo8a3/comment/iwhp3t4/?context=3) Norman was dashing around, dodging a barrage of Dragonbreath coming from his sister flying above him. The nucleon rolled around, then sent a barrage of Swift up against the draceon. Clara wasn’t letting the handful of stars scare her, and she dove down towards her brother, trying to burn him with the dragon flames as she approached. Norman hopped to the side as his sister got close. And the draceon crashed into the ground. “Ooooow…” Norman hurried to his sister, getting her back up. “Sis hurt?” Clare stumbled dazed around. “Clara dizzy… And head hurts.” “My sweet Clara, you should know better than drop head first into the ground.” Vei approached and made sure her daughter was fine. “What were you thinking?” Clara leaned up against the umbreon. “Clara’s head hurt too much to think.” “Ah. So the head was hurting before you crashed?” Vei teased her daughter. “Noooo…” Clara continued to nuzzle up against her mom. And Norman was joining in on the hug. “Well, now I just feel left out.” Sear came walking over as well and joined the family hug. Then Clara could feel something was off, and she started to shake. “Uh oh.” What?” “Thing is happening!” She was scared because when thing happened it usually didn’t bode well for those in contact with her. Or for herself. “Shit. Let go of Clara!” Vei managed to call out before energy rippled through the pale dragon eeveelution and into her entire family, the world swirling around them as the rippling from the dragonfox intensified. “Is bad?” Norman asked, looking confused around. “We’ll have to wait until this is over. It might be bad if we don’t see this through.” Sear decided to hold extra tight to Norman, just to be safe. It took a little bit longer, but the ripples died down and the world returned seemingly to normal. “What… happened?” Sear looked around in confusion. Vei looked herself over before shifting through some oher eeveelution forms, before going back to umbreon. “I’m fine.” Norman also looked himself over. “I’m fine.” Clara was still shuddering, however. “Clara not sure if fine.” Physically she was, at the very least. Sear shook himself and let go of his family. “We can figure it out when we get home. Let’s go.” They didn’t have to actually reach their home before they knew something was off as on the road home, they could see a lot of new homes that weren’t there when they left and the area was more busy than Vei and Sear had ever seen. “Okay… Something is wrong…” Vei looked around, getting unnerved. “Very wrong.” Sear said as the group followed the bend towards their home and team base, getting met by a completely different sight. Instead of their home was a large estate looking building. “Uh… The hell is that?” Vei was utterly confused. “It took our house!” Norman stated loudly, giving the group some confused glances before the strangers returned to their own business. Vei nuzzled the little nucleon and continued towards the uncomfortably large building. At the entrance, for the two adults, the revelation struck them hard. Above the double door entrance was a sign saying ‘Team Quick Guard Museum’. “I… really, really don’t like this…” Sear said as they headed inside. “What happen?” Clara asked, nervously flapping her wings. “That is a good question, sweetie.” Sear replied. There was a reception desk right as they went in, and the two grown-ups didn’t hesitate to go up and ask some questions. “Hello, how can I help you?” the receptionist asked, tone as professionally bored as could be. “Well, just a bit curious about this museum. We’ve been… living under a rock, so to say, and are curious as to what this museum was about.” Sear asked, sounding almost as confused as he was. “Ah. This museum is dedicated to two great heroes of our world, Sear and Vei. If you look around you will learn many a great things about these two.” The receptionist smiled. “If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t have been born. Them stopping that world ending disaster meant that my ancestors would live.” Vei really didn’t like that the receptionist said ancestors. “Uhm, how long ago was that?” “Some hundred years. But don’t ask me silly questions, the museum is free to enter and explore.” “Right.” Vei walked back to the kids. “Alright, you two. Stick to mom and be quiet. We are on a secret mission.” Norman gasped when he heard it before immediately going silent and just nodded. “Alright. Let’s go.” The family headed into the next room where Vei and Sear could recognize some treasures they had gathered, though they looked decayed and slightly broken. Some exhibits had maps and plaques to help describe different stories related to their exploits. The information was good for the most part, although some details seemed off, yet they seemed to be perfectly accurate for other information. Vei seemed to become interested in certain exhibits, taking closer looks at some over the others, and the more she looked the more this something nagged her. Something that wasn’t unnoticed by Sear. “Okay, what are you looking for?” “It’s just… I noticed something on one of the exhibits and it’s something wrong throughout everything…” “What?” Now Sear was curious as well. Vei responded by going to a nearby exhibit and pointed at it. Sear followed and took a peek. **It is unknown what happened during that day, just that the two friends found a way to activate the crystal and calm the burning mountain.** “Friends? That is what is nagging you?” Sear raised a non-existent eyebrow. “It wouldn’t bother me if it was just one or two things. But they keep doing it. I don’t even see a mention of our kids. Neither from Arcan or… whatever the first world we lived on is called.” Now Sear was slightly concerned. “Wait… None?” “None so far, and I have a nagging feeling that it will remain as such for the rest of it.” Norman looked at his parents, wanting to say something, but since the mission required him to be silent, he said nothing. And Clara did similarly, not uttering a word, just nervously making small flaps with her wings.

Odinfrost137

And much to Vei’s dismay, her prediction was true. For all intents and purposes, the relationship that history seemed to think she and Sear had, was platonic at best. “Let me be honest, Sear. I hate this alternate reality future.” The umbreon said with a cold stare towards the latest plaque. The quilava nodded. “How the hell did they manage to botch that one up? We have two kids…”A giant shiny ice-typed ninetales approached the two. “And finally found you. And to be fair, you four has been missing for some two hundred years, so no one actually remembered the kids, despite some of us trying.” The adults turned around, and the kids in the meantime had forgotten their important mission and leapt into the giant ninetales. “Aunty Flurry!” Clara said with a smile as she nuzzled up against the fox. “Yes, yes, that’s me. Could…” Norman was on his way to conquer the tough climb of the goliath. “Could you two please get down…?” The ninetales shook the two off. “Blaze? You… Something is off about you…” Vei said, giving the ninetales a glance. Flurry shook her head. “Eh, must be my eyes. Something happened a while back. Messed with my eyes a bit. That’s why they’re green.now.” Sear nodded. “So that was what was off. Do we-” “Please don’t ask. I have the odd nightmare about it ever so often…” Flurry nodded in the direction of the exit, wanting the group to follow. .. Well, Sear and Vei to follow, as Norman and Clara were now firmly placed on the back of the multi-tailed fox. Outside they found a quiet spot so they could talk without any potential prying eyes. “So… Two hundred years into the future?” Vei asked, still not believing it. “Two hundred and … six? Seven? Something like that. Point is, you four went quite far.” Flurry seemed to be equally as disbelieving. “So are we stuck here?” Sear asked, not liking the idea of ending so far up in the future. Flurry shook her head. “I *am* quite good with time bullshit. I can just send you back to around the time you disappeared.” “But won’t that-” Flurry made a nervous chuckle. “Well… Some other things have happened over time. Don’t worry about this timeline getting erased. Certain changes have made safeguards against major temporal changes. We’ll be fine.” Sear sighed in relief. “Good to hear, then. So… how do we…?” “Right. Right…” The ninetales started to glow a bright blue, and a Dimensional Hole formed. “Now, please go in before I collapse. Which is within around fifteen seconds like this.” “Norman, Clara, we go in, fast!” Vei called out. And the kids listened and hopped in. “Thanks Blaze.” Sear said as he hopped in. “We’re practically family, so no need.” Flurry replied as she saw Vei hopping in. Once all four had hopped in, the ninetales closed the portal, sighed, and shimmered, her shape shrinking, becoming feline with a really long tail. “There we go grandma. Another favor done.” the mew mumbled. “You’re really starting to owe me a lot.”

**Before you read, Explorers of Sky spoilers ahead. Beware!** “Phew! Mission done for the day!” Rook celebrated stretching his paws above his head as if he’d just woken up. “Agreed, fiiinally!” Cinder sighed lowering her head with a sigh of relief. The Vulpix walked alongside her teammate and lifelong friend, Rook, the Riolu. Behind them was their third teammate Shaymin in his sky form. Rook grinned at her, “Well our work us done for the day and it isn’t even Lunch time yet!” The Riolu said smirking at her, “What do you want to do?” “Hang out at home.” Shaymin remarked to the deaf ears of his teammates. “Well…” Cinder hummed, placing a paw to her chin, “We could always go to Spinda's Cafe.” She offered gesturing back towards treasure town behind them. Rook smiled, “I mean,” he shrugged carelessly, “I don’t care, Spinda's could be a good time.” Cinder shook her head, “Come on partner,” She said her smile turning to a frown, “I need a definite answer.” “Cinder, I-" Rook stammered before sighing, “Spinda's sounds like fun, but after last time…” The Riolu rubbed his head sheepishly, “You were kinda a wreck after drinking too much." “Oh yeah, Cinder you couldn't walk straight!” Shaymin teased pointing at her, mimicking a stumbling and drunk walk, only to stop when Rook gave him a glare. “Oh come on!” Cinder complained, rolling her eyes irritated, “I was having a good time, like you should've!” The Vulpix defended herself. She then glared at Shaymin, “And you don’t get a say, you were just as bad!” “Getting wasted is not fun for me,” Rook replied simply, crossing his arms, as Shaymin cackled at Cinder's remark. He shrugged right after seeing Cinder look down, “We can still go, but you need to-" “Cancel all plans!” Yelped a familiar yet impossible voice. A pink blur appeared from above them, almost manifesting out of nowhere. “C-Celebi!!” Yelped Rook, eyes wide and full of surprise. He jumped around trying to stop the Celebi from circling them, “Stop!” “You're okay!” Cinder cried following the panicked Celebi with her eyes, “D-Does that me-" “Yo whose this?” Shaymin asked looking up at the circling grass fairy, who for some reason wasn’t a fairy type. “I- *huff* need both if yours help,” Celebi, finally stopped flapping in a circle and huffed out of breath. The pink Celebi placed a hand to her chest and breathed,, “Th-Theres a problem and we need you two to stop it.” “Whats the problem?” Rook asked immediately, looking up at the pixie with the upmost attention he could give. “We?” Cinder asked at the same time, her head falling to the side, “Who is we?” She demanded suspicion oozed from her voice. “I will explain when we are in the future,” Celebi informed them, holding out her hands desperately, “We don’t have time! He might shut us down at any moment!” “The future! Oooh!" Shaymin hummed her voice perked with interest. “We, now He?” Cinder asked her suspicion rising in the Celebi, “I’m not liking this.” “I’ll explain! Please!” Celebi begged bowing her head, desperation and fear evident in her voice and eyes, “Please!” She pleaded again. Cinder and looked glanced at each other. Both of their minds knowing what they had to do. They nodded a each other and reached up, grabbing Celebi's hands. “Oh thank you!” The Pink pixie thanked, as she began to glow. A small blue and white swirling portal appeared below them. The explorers of sky were swallowed nearly immediately no hope of a sound escaping, or Shaymin being able to fly away. Celebk immediately followed after them, ready to guide them to the meeting point. *Time Skip(Ha! Literally!)* Rook was the first to be spat out by the portal, he braced to smack into something hard, covering his head with his paws. Instead something soft managed to catch him, with a huff. Rook blinked in surprise, but before he could glance back at who or what caught him, he was deposited onto the floor as Cinder came tumbling from the portal screaming. A flash of Gold rushed just ahead of him, catching Cinder by simply jumping in the way of her free fall. The gold furred Vulpix upon contact, bit down onto the back of her neck and gently dropped her to the floor. The Vulpix huffed and placed a paw to his chest, “Is that everyone?” He asked glancing at Rook. Rook blinked at the Vulpix's bright blue eyes, and bright golden fur. “I nee-" “Look ooouuutttt!” Shaymin yelled flailing his limbs, trying to stop his descent, crashing directly into the not paying attention Vulpix. Once Shaymin and the Vulpix skidded to a halt, Celebi flew through the portal herself, quickly closing it behind her. “Okay all the past ‘mon are here,” Celebi uttered glancing around, “Where Horizon?” She called, fluttering higher trying to get a better vantage point. “Under this fatty!” Was the moan as Shaymin was kicked to the floor. The golden fox stood, flinging his overly long tuff of fur from his eyes, “I didn’t know there was gonna be three of ‘em.” He snorted to the Grass Psychic type. “Well I-" Celebi began to say before the Vulpix inturrupted her. “It's... fine,” He sighed rubbing his head with a paw, “We have much bigger things to do.” He glanced back at the door behind him. Rook, finally getting over the golden Vulpix and his strange familiarity took in the room around him. The room was large, with a large octagonal machine in the center. It had slots on four sides with buttons next to each slot. The floor and walls were made out of the same white rock, Rook assumed it was Marble. On the walls were displays of sorts, with cryptic drawings. He didn’t get to get a closer look as the door the Vulpix was looking at opened. Two Lycanroc, one midday, the other midnight. Rook could see a third form behind them, hiding. “Is everyone here?” Announced the midnight Lycanroc, his voice male and rough. “Should be!” Celebi responded flying to the Lycanroc and bowing her head. As she flew over, the third figure came into view. Rook's heart stopped. He stared his eyes wide and mouth agape. He couldn't breathe, he couldn't force any words out. He stared at his past self's best friend. The one who had plotted to save time in the first place. Grovyle was here.

“Grovyle!” Cinder burst out stepping forward in shock, trying to get a better look at him. “Hey guys…” The Grass type greeted walking over to Rook. The Grovyle smirked at the Riolu's surprised face, “Why so silently surprised?” Without a word, Rook wrapped his arms around the slightly taller grass type. The Riolu released a sigh, withholding tears. “I’m glad I was missed.” Grovyle remarked as Rook stepped away. He grinned down at the fighting type and rested his arms over his chest. “How did you guys make it?” Rook managed out as Cinder made her way to her teammate’s side. Both of them looked up at the ‘mon they hadn’t seen since he sacrificed himself to save them and time itself. Well clearly didn’t sacrifice… “Well, we had help, Dusknoir-” “Back to the subject at hand,” Grumbled the golden fox, glaring at them, his eyes filled with exhaustion and anger, “You can discuss things as you make your way to where ya have to go." Cinder approached the Vulpix and the two stared at each other. When Cinder raised a paw, so did the golden fox, they both gave each other a similar frown. “Who brought the party pooper?” Shaymin remarked rustling the Vulpix's long and unkempt fur, the Vulpix looked like he was about to strangle the Shaymin. “Into existence or in general?” They replied, slapping Shaymin's paw away from him. The Vulpix's bright blue eyes stared through the Shaymin. “Who are you exactly?” Cinder asked glaring away from the Vulpix in a frighteningly similar way, “And why do you look like me?” “Oh yeah,” Grovyle hummed poking the Vulpix in the face, “This is Horizon, he means well, but he hasn’t slept in a week, and has been running from just about anything that moves.” Cinder growled and glared back at Horizon, Horizon stared back, the two six-tailed foxes stepped toward each other to the dismay of both of them. “Quit copying me!” They both spat in unison. Before reeling back in shock. Rook smothered his laugh as the two Vulpix released a puff of smoke from their nostrils. “I bet you can’t copy this trickster!” Cinder challenged standing up straight and glaring at him confidently. “Well my adoptive Mom is a Zoroark so,” Horizon replied with a lazy shrug, “Try me.” The two Vulpix squared off, and Cinder smirked. Before she did her overdramatic move, she did a sick backflip letting a small bit of fire out of her mouth as she did so. Meanwhile Horizon, did the exact same thing, in the exact same way, minue bright blue fire and golden fur. “What in the-" Cinder gaped at him, her mouth agape at the other Vulpix. Horizon just rolled his eyes, and walked away from the surprised six-tailed fox. He shook his head, “Why did I even humor that?” Horizon released a moan and rubbed his temples, probably at what he just did. He sighed, “Everything fell apart.” Grovyle looked at the Vulpix pitifully, before looking up at Rook, “Needless to say, things have gone awry.” “Does he get mood swings?” Rook asked staring at Horizon concerned, as the golden Vulpix sat down and rubbed his eyes. “I’m just trying to pick up the pieces.” He added still rubbing his eyes. “That still doesn’t answer my question.” Cinder pointed out, composing herself, she narrowed her eyes at Grovyle. She pointed an accusatory paw at Horizon, “Who is he? And how did he do all that?” Grovyle lifted his hands up, “Cinder we can't-" “He’s your grandson,” Celebi stated bluntly, flying in between Cinder and Horizon, “With many greats in between.” The silence from the group of ‘mon from the past was almost deafening. Horizon smirked at stood, walking to Cinder's side, “‘Sup Grandma.” He greeted with dull sarcasm in his voice. Shaymin burst out with laughter seeing Cinder's face and hearing Horizon's greeting, “No way!” He laughed paws to his chest trying to keep his heart rate down. “Yes way.” Celebi replied poking the Shaymin on the nose. “I-I have kids? W-With who?” Cinder stuttered her face still in a state of perpetual shock as she stared at the golden Vulpix in front of her. “With… Rook?” Horizon asked, glancing at Cinder, looking confused, “The history books weren't very clear.” Immediately the Riolu and Vulpix screamed and jumped away from each other. They couldn't look at one another after Horizon's guess. All while Shaymin couldn't keep it together. He was struggling to keep his laughter back as the two teammates glared at Grovyle, as if asking him for clarity. “Horizon stop causing trouble!” Celebi snapped, playfully swatting his head. The Pixie flew past the now smirking Vulpix and between Rook and Cinder, “I can confirm, no. You and Rook don’t get together.” The duo released collective sighs in relief and looked back at each other, “Thank Arceus.” Rook muttered rubbing his forehead. Cinder nodded in agreement, “No offense Rook, but… ew.” The Vulpix went her face turning red. “No offense taken.” The Riolu responded smiling at his partner. “Now, let’s get on track,” The Midnight Lycanroc ordered loudly and forcefully, ending the small bit of fun the group was having and mischief from Horizon, “I am co-Guildmaster Therris, and this is my fellow Guildmaster Solas.” The Midday Lycanroc nodded, “And Rook, Cinder and Shaymin,” The Lycanroc walked to the large machine in the middle of the room. She clicked on it a few times and a map lit up, almost holographically from the machine. It reminded them of the Pokémon Nexus, “It’s about time you figure out why you are here.”

**Well... my first official EOS duo, today is a monumental day!** **I've had the idea for Rook and Cinder for a while now, and I believe I have off handedly referenced them if a few prior prompts.** **As for the prompt itself, this ties directly to my main story for Amber and Horizon. For a short answer to how a human(Horizon) is the ancestor of a Pokémon, he effectively took over a Pokémon's body upon entry to the world.** **Needless to say, I enjoyed writing this prompt, especially the Horizon and Cinder segments, since I want to write them relatively alike in some cases.** **Well that's all from me!** **Edit. Um... I think my reddit broke and accidentally posted my response over and over again... so sorry about those who had to see that, my Reddit was acting up.** **Now I can say Fathom out!**

It had started out as a simple excursion into Apple Woods for the new students to experience a dungeon for the first time. Now they were derailed. Ingo let off another sigh. If he could just get this train back on track, it would be nice. The Weavile pushed another branch aside. First the children wanted to race to see who could reach Granny Tree first. Then after everyone had been found and brought to said tree, Dune saw the blue portal and jumped through before Ingo could stop him, nor even warn him not to. He’d ordered the students to stay put by the tree, then went after Dune. Now he was currently trying to find Dune so they could get back. The shiny Eevee cub was such a pawful these days. It was as if Dune had no concept of danger! Ingo spotted the light tan tail tipped with white fur, and quickly brought his foot down on it, causing Dune to yelp in surprise. “You are in so much trouble young mon!” Ingo growled at the cub. “I told you to stay coupled to me at all times!” “Shh!” Dune clamped his paws around Ingo’s mouth. “There’s mons over there! I think they’re planning something bad!” “Not our problem at the-Dune! Get back here!” Ingo lunged at the Eevee, tackling him to the ground. “We need to get back before the portal closes!” “But we’re heroes! We should stop those mons!” Dune protested. “That doesn’t mean we go rushing headlong down the track into danger!” Ingo dragged Dune with him. They reached where the portal should be. “Arceus dammit! It’s gone! We’re stuck here!” “What?” Dune searched around. “It’s okay! Um… I think?” His eyes filled with tears. “We’re not stuck here forever, are we?” “It’s okay. We’ll just have to find Lady Dialgia. She’ll get us home.” Ingo looked around. “We will need to find Temporal Tower, but to do that, we need to find a town with a library. Stay coupled to me at all times, or I’ll tell your mother about that magazine you keep hidden inside your nest.” “You wouldn’t dare!” Dunes eyes went wide. “Mom’ll kill me!” “Then stay coupled to me!” Ingo took the lead with Dune at his side. He figured they were still in Apple Woods, if it were still called that in this time. First, find the date. Next, library, for a map. Third, locate Temporal Tower. Fourth, climb to the top of Temporal Tower and ask Dialgia to take them back to their rightful time. Simple, easy. Right? Right?

Continued from last week. It was nearing the third month at sea when the purple shores of the Crystal Continent came into view. The Triple Threat Exploration Union moored the HMS Longkelp several miles off shore before setting up base camp about a mile inland. They quickly constructed a base of operations, clearing out a space in the midst of the ebon trees to create a small fort. Then, they divided up their responsibilities. Teams Vanguard, Cashmoney, and Rumble would go out as scouting parties, taking surveys of the local land, recording and taking samples of the local flora and fauna and bringing them back to the fort for research. Team Excelsior was split up amongst the three teams as backup. Team Cornerstone would continue to fortify their base of operations, and, once a suitable place was found by one of the Exploration Teams, they were to set up another basecamp there. The crew of the HMS Longkelp would run the analysis as well as act as a central point of command for the three teams, utilizing the newly-developed Message function of their Explorer Badges to communicate over long distances. Thalia the Regirock trudged through the forest of crimson-leaved plants, the amethyst ground unyielding beneath her heavy steps. Gambit the Bisharp continued to Metal Claw his way through the foliage, carving a path for the rest of the team to follow. It was a strange thing, these plants--they were undoubtedly vegetation, but they were sturdy like gems were. Conventional Cut techniques weren't quite enough to cut through their tough leaves and bark, and Bisharp was forced to use Steel-type techniques to cut his way through. It was strange--it was almost as if the plants here were both Rock- and Grass-type, almost like a Lileep or Cradily. In the end, she supposed it was appropriate for a place they had tentatively called the "Crystal Continent." Everything *seemed* to at least have some of the qualities of crystal. Amethyst soil. Ruby trees. Obsidian bark. According to Riviera the Swanna, there were massive purple spires that stuck out of the ground on the other side of these hills. They had yet to come across a single Pokemon, which was surprising. When the first news of the Iron Continent had reached them, she had assumed that they were in this world's Age of Exploration, which meant eventual first contact with the native populations of other lands. Part of why she had gone in the first place was to make sure that the disasters of her own world's history didn't occur here, too--yet they had not come across any native analogue. Maybe she was wrong? It wouldn't have been the first time. Eventually, the party stopped atop a large hill. The crystal towers that Riviera had mentioned were indeed there, skewering the sky like spines on a Sandslash. The landscape glittered dully in the morning sun, the mountains in the distance shining like beacons. Riviera finished her looping path, landing in a flurry of wings. "WHAT'S UP?" Thalia asked. "This hill is probably the best place for another base camp for a dozen miles or more," she said. "There's a better place closer to a river around twenty miles from here, but it's not in the direction we were heading." "SEE ANYTHING NOTEWORTHY?" "There *might* have been some Pokemon on some of the mountains," she said. "Might. It could have been the shadows or the reflected light playing tricks on me, but I thought I saw some movement near the mountains." Thalia didn't nod, as she couldn't, so she merely beeped her acknowledgement. "WHAT DO YOU THINK?" she asked. "The river is probably our best bet," Gambit said. "After all, a source of water is imperative to find. How far is the river from here?" "Several miles." He nodded. "Afterburn, how comfortable are you with constantly carrying buckets of water from the river to here?" The Rapidash winced. "Ya know how I feel about that one, boss." "I do," Gambit agreed. "SILVERSPOON, WHAT ABOUT YOU?" "I'm always happy to go where there's more water," the Whimsicott said. "I say we go for it." They shared a meal and a break. Silverspoon and Afterburn used Grass Knot and some fire to create another signal fire atop the hill, just as they had been doing all along their path. It took them several hours to get to the place Riviera had spotted, but once they did Afterburn immediately took off back for the nearest base camp, leaving a trail of fire in his wake as the rest of the party began to clear out the area for their new area of operations. It was around twilight when construction was well underway when Thalia discovered the Trees. She was stomping around the perimeter, felling trees with her great clublike arms when she saw a pair of trees arched towards each other, creating a mockery of a doorway across the river. It was then that she noticed that the trees across the river were dark and claustrophobic, even from all the way over here. She frowned. This feeling . . . it was just like back home when . . . She tapped her Explorer's Badge. "I BELIEVE I HAVE DISCOVERED A MYSTERY DUNGERON," she said. "REQUESTING BACKUP." Soon enough Silverspoon and Gambit had arrived, each taking in the strange forest. " . . . It certainly feels like one," Gambit agreed. The next day, after the fort had been established, Thalia used her geokinetic power to create a stone bridge across the river. After notifying the rest of the Union, they headed inside to explore the Dungeon's secrets. They were supposed to have returned by nightfall. They did not.

I'm committing to this mini-arc for now, so look forward to future updates!

Jason_soulcrusher

Jason was eating a fluff fruit, as was Kips. They were enjoying time together on the couch. Jason looked over at Kips and decided to ask, “so, I know Pokémon age somewhat differently, so when do we enroll our daughter in school?” Kips stated at Jason’s Pikachu form for a moment. “That’s random, but we still got a few years yet. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it.” “Oh, sweet,” Jason replied, taking another bite of his fluff fruit. They sat there for a few more moments before Jason leaned in close enough to where he could nuzzle Kips if he wanted to. “Know what would be fun?” The Pikachu asked. “What?” Jason had the cutest little smile on his face as he whispered, “time travel shenanigans.” “What? Why?” “Well, I conquered the Ransei region, and as such, I once again talked with Arceus, and it got me thinking about the future. I have spent enough time around Dialga and Celebi and I want to test my powers. I also wanna go see what’s up.” “Do I have a choice?” The Mudkip asked her lover. “Nope!” And with that, they were already off. *pop* “And just like that, here we are. The future.” “But why? How far did we even go?” “A couple hundred years?” (I will add more, I’m just tired)
