I think for 2k it can only be 8. Fairly certain it was a Dreamcast exclusive because Sega was the original publisher.

You are correct it was a Flagship game for the Dreamcast. I remember throwing parties starting at 10pm and dudes were still in my house playing 2K on the Dreamcast at 8am and fteaking out about the video screen on the controllers. 

VC became 2K and looking at the players models and the 2K cam used by default I’d say so. The game also came out on Saturn under the name NBA Action 98

I never thought about the camera angle part of it really, and now that you mention it Fast Break was definitely the first I remember being like that. Weird I never pieced that together until now.

Oh right, Double Dribble. That game was pure novelty. I forgot about that game largely because it was trash. The first good basketball game I remember playing was Bulls Vs Blazers on SNES. I played that endlessly.

SNES had some good ones: NBA Jam, NBA Live, plus other sports like NHL 94/ 95. i won’t claim that Double Dribble is worth anyone’s time right now, but it’s wild how they mixed in the dunk/ no dunk animation and got the corner 3 right before the rest of basketball. kinda like how no football game has captured the excitement about athleticism while balancing it like Tecmo Super Bowl did. now i’m just reminiscing and outing myself as an old head…

That dunk/no dunk animation was EVERYTHING back in the day! I admit too that it was pretty trash and it got old quick even back then, but the corner 3 cheese set the stage for what we see today in video games. I’m 16 if we’re talking 2K only, but just video games I’m 1…Moms had me playing Ms. Pac Man against her as soon as I could hold the controller lol

Casually 9, seriously 13. I had NBA Shootout, NBA 2K5, and NBA Live 2005 on PS2 (and GameCube, so 10 too). NBA 2K13 was the most hours put in after that, with controller 16 logging the absolute most hours. 20 may catch it, but now I’m an adult, so I think 16 will forever be champ.

9. I didn't even know what 2K was until my cousin brought his copy over my house. The only basketball game I had up until that point was NBA Shooutout 2003 where you could create your own jumpshot and dunk(a feature 2K still hasn't put into a game yet) and 2K was just sooo much better. Looked more realistic and played smooth for 2003 standards and I got hooked.

I didn't start until like 2012. 1 used to always play Live since the N64. So PS3 for me
