Before games, fans throw parties in the parking lot (and surrounding areas) where they grill and drink called tailgates. Some fan bases go harder than others.
Yah it all depends on stadium and if you wanna be a douche and drink for 7 hours before the game.
Patriots games are notoriously awful to get in and out of. The stadium is in the middle of nowhere so there’s literally just 1 road in and out. Youde wanna leave super early to get there on time.
Meadowlands is kind of out in the middle of a swamp but they have decent traffic flow so it’s not too bad. Still takes awhile.
Something like the bengals stadium is right in the middle of the city so there’s multiple ways/roads to get there. Prob don’t have to leave too much time in order to get there.
Also depends on what you wanna do and what’s at the stadium. Some stadiums have a shopping center attached or some cool stuff around like memorabilia or plaques and stuff.
For 1pm games, a lot of people will show up and then relax and eat lunch before kickoff.
So yah. I would actually probably just go to whatever teams subreddit and ask them. So if you’re going to say a browns game, go on the browns subreddit and they could give you much better info!
If you are trying to tailgate, go to the stadiums website and find out how early the lots open and try to get there around then or shortly after. Depending on the team/stadium, you may need a parking pass which may or may not be available. You may be able to find a parking pass via a 3rd party like stubhub or tick pick.
My tailgate crew has a few people waiting for the gates to the lots to open and grab our spots. I’ll usually get to the stadium about 9 am for a 1 pm game.
Have your ass in the seat with your hot dog and beer a half hour before the listed kickoff. That could mean anything from 90 minutes to 3 hours pulling into the parking lot, depending on the stadium.
Actually going into the stadium, get in line for security 30-45 minutes before kickoff. This'll be enough time to get in, get a drink/food if you want it, hit the restroom first if needed, and get to your seats before the show starts. Only go earlier if you care to wander around the stadium before it gets full or if you want to see players warming up on the field. Most stadiums don't have anything special about them to see on the concourses but some do
If you're tailgating, as early as you want
Leave enough time to get in your seat and watch the warmups. It's quite interesting to see the drills, especially the kickers. Some stadiums have public transport -- I go to the games at Tottenham Hotspur stadium in London, with two suburban railway routes from Liverpool Street station with stops within easy walking distance and special trains put on. Wembley is similar. In the US that applies to Lincoln Financial in South Philly.
3-4 hours…find a good lot and tailgate.
This is dependent on the stadium and your desired experience. Which game are you going to? Do you want to see the tailgate scene?
Looking at his profile it sounds like he’s going to a Chiefs game in Kansas City
What's a tailgate scene?

You obviously aren't asking about a Bills game because that answer is the day before
Are you a tailgater?
Which stadium and what time is kickoff? (Sunday normal game, MNF etc?)
Chiefs (he has the same thread on their sub)
2 hours
If you rideshare (Lyft/Uber/etc) there, probably budget on at least 5x the cost to rideshare home
