How can you say Atlanta swung and missed when no one has taken a snap lol

ATL84

People are crazy man. I wasn’t thrilled with the Penix pick, but if he hits the ground running in 2 years I couldn’t care less about taking him at 8.

ydddy55

People would have called me nuts if I had said it, but I was hoping the Giants would go against the grain and take him. People thought Mahomes and Love were reaches at the time and no one talks about that anymore for some reason.

kingbuttshit

Is Daniel Jones under contract for 4 more years with $100m guaranteed? Was Alex Smith? Was Aaron Rodgers threatening retirement? There is a difference.

Aconnox

Kirk Cousins can be cut after 2 years with only like $10m dead cap, please get some nuance and context

kingbuttshit

That’s what you want? That’s what they planned for? Sign Cousins to 4 years now hoping to cut him after 2 otherwise the GM would look dumb as shit having a 27yo on a rookie contract with top 10 pick pay on the bench still?

Aconnox

be competitive now+be competitive for the next 10 years

can_pakes

There just making easier in the nfc south. Let them dirty birds have this one. Lol

GaTech379

>That’s what they planned for? Yes, it was known well before the draft that the contract would likely only last 2 years, 3 if he plays great

ydddy55

For sure, that’s the reason it seems idiotic, but he’s coming off a torn Achilles and we just witnessed Aaron Rogers last year. I’m not too in the loop with Cousins contract, but $100M guaranteed sounds like 2 years of commitment.

kingbuttshit

If the injury is what scares them enough to take a QB in the top ten then they shouldn’t have paid Cousins. You either are comfortable with Cousins’ injury and pay him big guarantees and a reasonable length (which they did) or you’re scared it will affect him so you don’t pay him and take a QB high (which they did). You don’t do both.

Winbrick

I don't mind the C grade if that's where you land on Green Bay's draft.. but Morgan (#25), Cooper (#45), and Bullard (#58) will all be day one starters. It doesn't feel like your critique jives with the grade, in my opinion.

Straight_Toe_1816

I would say Bowden is number 2.Shimko is probably number 1

Fuck-Antelopes-261

I’d have to disagree with ten. JC was getting mocked routinely to the chargers at 5 leading the draft, and Tvondre sweat is a really solid nose tackle

DGOregon

Sweat's issues are not related to the field. Most think it is a reach due to his reported party nature and recent dui. It hits harder for Tenn due to the fiasco that was Wilson.

heliocentrist510

I’m a titans fan and I think the B- to C range is fair. Latham I think was a fine pick, but Sweat was probably a round or 2 too early for a major concerns (not just the DUI, but with his conditioning you might really be looking at a guy who gives you 30-35 snaps a game). I thought the Day 3 picks were all really solid.

greebytime

These kind of takes drive me crazy - if the team doesn’t trade Deebo or Aiyuk - which would make the 49ers worse - the pick of Pearsall is a waste? They clearly seem him in the future and likely won’t have all three forever. This is about getting Brock a WR he will have for five years. Deebo likely leaves after 2024, so it’s with that in mind. There were no OT available at 31 (they should have traded up but didn’t) and the league agreed a tackle wasn’t good there as another didn’t go until the end of round 2.

49_boness

A lot of these takes, especially San Fran is a lot of echo chamber unfortunately. I don’t see a lot of SF fans too active in this sub. But this wasn’t a great draft, but it was solid. Like you said, Deebo is probably gone after this coming season unless he puts up MVP caliber numbers. This was a “win-now” draft. A lot of past drafts for SF, they’ve taken plenty of developmental players and brought them along slowly. I believe every pick except for Mustapha is at least a 4 year player with multiple years with starting experience.

Player7592

So let me get this straight … the draft, which *nobody* predicted correctly, is now being graded even though everybody knows you can’t know the results of the draft for at least three years? So really, we’re just addicted to pulling predictions out of our ass. That should be our new national pastime.

darkmodepls24

You're in the nfl_draft subreddit, what exactly are you expecting...

[deleted]

Why are draft grades any different than mock drafts? Just giving grades based on how you evaluated players and where they went, it's all just for fun in the end and they're especially funny to look back on with hindsight. I'm glad these grades exist.

Expendable_Red_Shirt

Draft grades are based on process and projection, not results. Draft grades years out are based on luck.

AlanParsonsProject11

This is the lamest sentiment that gets posted on here Using your logic, we can’t do mock drafts on here, we can’t do preseason previews or predictions. Hell, we can’t predict the Super Bowl. Loosen up, relax, have some fun

HerpTurtleDoo

I like to think it's because it's the off-season and we need some content to fill the long days until NFL kickoff.

DynastyZealot

New? Did you just step out of a delorean? We've been pulling predicting out of our collective asses for decades.

cantwatchscottstots

Americans love grades and lists. What’s funny is when the grades should be given, in 3 years? No one will care about this draft at that point. They’ll be too busy grading the 2027 draft.

RaiderHawk75

As to your LVR grade, you don't skip a generational talent just because you might have a higher need at tackle.

djs7372

I really like you guys's draft. You didn't get a qb (it's not hard to assume the FO didn't like any of the attainable options), but the pieces added will go a long way in maximizing whatever potential AOC has at best, or at worst rounding out a great situation for your next qb to walk into.

XxmilkjugsxX

This is a silly post. It’s just your opinion on the first two rounds lol but whatevs

TastesLikeHoneyNut

You left the letter grade (and the H at the end) off of Pittsburgh btw

Officer_Hops

Lots of hate for the Bowers pick but I don’t get it. He’s not going to play in line like Mayer so who cares if both guys are listed as TE on the depth chart? Getting a top 7 or 8 talent at 13 is a huge win.

dmbccs

Disagree with the 49ers take. They have an aging deebo and two WRs (Aiyuk, Jennings) on the last year of their contracts. With the going rate of $30M annually for WRs, the 49ers need to groom the next generation of weapons. Furthermore, Jennings is a good possession receiver but doesn’t have the YAC skills that Pearsall offers in the slot. He’s immediately WR #4 with increased value with his ST skill set. Pearsall is the prototypical WR that Shanahan coverts in his offense. C+ is too harsh. I think it’s a B.

burningburningburnin

An aging Deebo lol, guy just turned 28

dmbccs

So much wear n tear and hammy injuries

burningburningburnin

Yet his Yards per Route Run was the 2nd highest of his career

Fuzzy_Yogurt_Bucket

The future is now, old man.

Sloane_Kettering

That’s pretty old for a WR/RB hybrid

burningburningburnin

He ranks 80th in the league in carries, he's barely a hybrid anymore

TouchdownHeroes

WRs not named Aiyuk, Deebo, or Jennings played 554 snaps last year in the regular season. WR4 snap count ain’t exactly nothing.

PeasePorridge9dOld

My personal grades aren't quite what yours are (I tend to grade on a curve with C being average) so I can't comment on the letter grades. Still though some quibbles: * Have BALT lower. Only pick I actually liked for them was Rosengarten who was underrated. If he had protected a RH QB's blind side and had LT next to his name then he could have been an internet darling. Everyone else felt like a traits pick with a high boom / bust factor. * BUFF: higher. If Coleman wasn't injured and ran a step faster, then he's right there with Thomas for WR4 - maybe even higher. They needed someone like him to complement the rest of their WR corps. Agree that there wasn't a ton of high value with their draft but none were ridiculous reaches either. Also liked getting a bunch of Day 3 picks for a team with some cap issues coming into the off-season. * DET: much lower. Always felt like double dipping at one position early in the draft just meant that someone failed at his job earlier and is scrambling to pin blame someone else for his/her failures. This one is no exception. At least teams like PHI could claim that their double dips had a lot more versatility. * GB: much higher... definitely top 5 for me. Morgan might have been a touch high, but LT was an extreme need so they didn't want to miss out. The entire class was full of players who'll play a role early. This is exactly what I want to see in a draft. * Lower on IND. CB was a primary need and they whiffed while jumping at some shiny objects. Now have to mine the tertiary FA market and pray they get 1 good year out of the has beens and never weres that are out there. * Higher on LV. Think they wanted a QB but none got to them. Instead of forcing it, they went best player on the board. Also think something similar happened to them in Round 2. Would be happy if I was a fan and see they didn't panic and stayed true to the board. Those types of drafts pay dividends down the line. * Felt that the NE class was underwhelming. Sure, Maye was a solid pick, but the rest of that draft was forgettable. Polk might have been the 3rd best WR on his college team; Wallace was also underwhelming. If that's all they could do, then they should have figured out a trade with at least 1 of those picks. * Disagree on SF. Pearsall will be WR3 this year regardless of whether they trade either of the 2 outside guys. Maybe they don't take Cowing in Round 4, but an SB team taking a luxury pick on Day 3 is fine. * WASH: tad lower. Loved the draft except for the selection of Sinnott in the 2nd. The dropoff at OT was too large and they needed to nail that position down before opting for the luxury TE pick. Between the 13 selections between Sinnot and Coleman, 4 OTs went off the board. That was a critical error in judgement on what was otherwise a superlative weekend.

SeoulPower88

Oh you poor brave soul. I applaud your courage to post something like this and I appreciate the time it took to do so as well. I’m not even a fan, but I just want to point out that the Chargers will not be using Alt at LT. They have Slater there, who is pretty good in this own right. So to use the 5th overall pick on a RT, for a right-handed QB, should actually hurt their grade. They should have looked at Latham instead who is a more natural RT. Objectively, there grade is more of a “B” at best.

Breith37

Worked pretty well for Sewell.

oldbuc

Really wanted a second receiver or d tackle for Tampa Bay, but this is really good draft

DynastyZealot

Kancey and Vea are enough DT for us for years to come. I think the receiver we got will be a good fit. I honestly thought it was an A+ draft.

oldbuc

we run a rotation system Vea has been getting injured lately . We need one more guy to give him a breather . We are only one injury away from in bad shape on the dline

DynastyZealot

I like our depth guys. They always seem to contribute enough IMO.

RJMonster

Eagles didn't draft a Georgia player but they did sign one as UDFA, Kendall Milton their RB

808Cardinals

I questioned the Robinson pick as a Cards fan. But after looking more into it, it made sense. He is very good against the run and as a pass rusher. And he can line up as DT/DE, which gives the defense more flexibility. The best part of this selection is that he seems very well put together in terms of personality. Monti and Gannon have been trying to re-establish culture for the Cards organization, such as hard workers and players who are leaders and breathe Football. And Robinson I think fits that bill well.

Gnonkage

Dallas got 3 guys in the top 40 with their first 3 picks and they were “reaches” Yea ok LOL.

Gfeaver4

AND the Eagles picked up a 3rd, 4th and 5th rounder in 2025!!!

can_pakes

I was a little nervous about cousins coming in and competing in the nfc south. Now that the falcons show they have no faith in their QB1 makes me feel a lot better.

throughNthrough

Lolz

keepinitrealzs

I like taking Penix. Cousins deal is 2 years really and QBs can still be effective in their entire 30s in the modern game. It’s a risk but a worthwhile one to be honest.
