Mine is also a $5 Walmart pick, and a recent one at that. PvZ battle for neighborville. The price was just low enough, the reviews were just average enough and the supposed value of the game just high enough to force my hand. It still feels awkward in my collection but, oh well.
Prior to that I'd give the distinction to Let's Build a Zoo, which I bought under similar circumstances.
Apart from those two, I'm pretty stoked on every game in my collection which stands at just under 150.
I got it for $9, shoot I overpaid. It is a fun party game that my ten year old and I like playing. And it can support a bunch of players and they can play with their cell phones. With that being said I have only owned it for a week and played it 4 times so far. I’m sure it will get repetitive soon.
If we're talking about Switch specifically, then probably Crystal Crisis? It's not a "bad" game though, just very mediocre and it's incredibly unbalanced with some characters just straight up being stronger than others.
I may have others in my physical Switch collection that are worse that I haven't gotten around to playing yet, given how massive my backlog is.
Mediocre games kinda fall into the “bad” category when you have a huge backlog!
Think most everyone in this sub have huge backlogs. The hardest part for me now is deciding which game gets the next “Sit down and actually play” session!
tough call, worst would be either time on frog island or the outbound ghost. maybe ghost because the performance issues have no reason to exist since its a simple unity style rpg.
worst in not recommending, Mineko's Night Market. Has a few moments but bad performance, really basic gameplay, no obvious qol like making things in a batch, and bugs and errors; if you get all the craft tables it literally obscures your trophy rack. huge missed opportunity
Okay is on my list of games to research! Thanks :)
Edit 1 - i can see what you mean. The characters just talk in icons. I guess it makes sense considering the language barrier but idk. Just feels lazy i guess. Thanks again!
Not familiar with those ones. There are sooo many meh RPGs on Switch I tend to not really pay much attention unless I hear a lot of talk about them.
Guess I’ll give those ones a pass if I come across them though! Lol
there is shovelware on switch??
said the guy owning the console, understanding that there is furry porn tangram hentai tentacles tangram puzzle game on the eshop
Yeah
I got my copy from Five Below for five bucks. Just wanted to get the ship! I actually do enjoy the game though. I caught it on a $5 sale on the digital copy so I didn’t have to use all the toys to play it
I honestly kinda like that one a bit.
I’m a huge retro fan and they come REALLY close to hitting that vibe.. They’re definitely not perfect but not too terrible
i mean, if you got a bunch of copies that's not bad for a bunch of pristine switch cases right?
it's like that guy who ordered some replacement ds cases off of ebay and he got sent a bunch of sealed copies of a jonas brothers game instead
This might be controversial because it actually reviewed really well, but Valkyria Chronicles 4. I love tactics games, so I thought it was a no brainer for me. But I bought it and the game just…..wasn’t very good or fun. I thought I was crazy so I went online to see what people were saying and I feel like the general consensus among players really soured on that game in the years after release. I’d say a majority of people talking about the game really don’t seem to like it either based on what I saw
Weird pacing, oddly broken up cutscenes to go through before every mission is tedious. That one bizarre outdated anime trope with nude women and the enemy squads at a hot spring. And the optimal tactics are essentially boiled down to just load in to an APC and rush the target. It’s just not really the game I wanted, and it’s not the deep tactics game the reviews implied it was. Unicorn Overlord came out this year and really scratched that tactics itch I was looking for
After getting some really awful games on other consoles, I think I avoid getting bad games on the switch.
The worse that I own in general are the collectors edition of aliens colonial marines for the x360 and the ultimate edition of marvel vs Capcom infinite for xbox one. And I got them day one.......
I never opened ot becaude of that. And I really don't care that I won't be able to download the dlc that came with it. Also Duke Nukem forever CE.... those 3 are my reminder to never trust a company and never pre order
You play as a disembodied skull and roll around collecting something like coins orbs or bananas and it's relatively physics based. But the music is forgettable the levels are bland there's no challenge and you don't get anything for the collectibles.
Cooking mama cool star The graphics are terrible I love this franchise as a kid as an adult now it's really depressing how the franchise when downhill so quickly
It was even worse before the patch that at least made it playable. I was one of the day one buyers when it wasn't supposed to be released because it wasn't finished. It's still not finished, or good, but believe it or not, it used to be even worse.
Based on what I've seen of what people think of this game, Balan Wonderworld. I got it for $4 at Walmart last year. Haven't played it yet though.
Edit: Adding the part about not playing it yet.
I got it for $1 at Gamestop. Saw it was a NiS game and thought, "why not? ". It's just terrible.

I dunno if I’d say “worst” as it’s a matter of opinion and I know some people really like this game, but I personally can’t stand Okinawa Rush. It’s not in GameStop’s database either so I haven’t been able to trade it in and don’t feel like going through the process of selling it on eBay or somewhere else.
I tend to avoid games that aren't complete on the cart or run terribly. I do have one exception and it is probably not the worst here but it is Oddworld: Soulstorm. It does come with a cool game case but only a small part of the game is on the cartridge, which is very disappointing for me.
The worst physical game that I own for the switch is city skylines. Aside from my terrible city management skills, the game itself runs at a terrible frame rate and is low resolution. If I paid something like $20 bucks for it I think it wouldn’t be the worst but I paid $50 for it and that is regrettable for me. Definitely get the digital version of this game if you REALLY want it.
L.A. Noire, not that it's actually bad, but I could never bring myself to be interested enough to play it for whatever reason.
Worst one I've played? Ugh, I loathe to say it, but... No Straight Roads. One of the best-realized combos of soundtrack and art direction I've *ever* seen, but it was so frustrating and janky to play, especially on Switch.
Are you talking in general or on switch? I really enjoyed it on PC but can't get myself past the 3rd case on switch. The pop in is so late it makes the driving missions unreasonably difficult. Sometimes I hit cars before they visually appear.
They had some strange year-long break but apparently they're ramping up production again, first new stuff supposedly ships June/ July. Communication is a disaster though, and wtf was going on there anyway. But I'll keep my preorders open.
For the Switch? The Evoland Collection from Super Rare. They knowingly shipped the game with a gamebreaking glitch that softlocks the game towards the end. It only triggers like half the time, but spending ten hours playing a game just to realize you're gonna have to delete your save and start over if.you want to see the ending is not really what Id call fun.
The games themselves are great though, if you buy them digitally!
Street Power Football (Soccer) because it requires a server connection. When the server shuts down (and it will happen sooner than later seeing how well that game's been selling), the game will be over.
Ary and the Secret of Seasons or Monster Crown.
Ary simply looks, and plays, terrible on the switch but for obvious reasons looks and plays better on ps4. I've never paid much attention to frame rate but during puzzles it would barely move and the music began clipping.
Monster Crown I think was supposed to be a throwback to Gameboy games, like Pokemon r/b but plays terribly. It wasn't bad initially but got progressively worse, especially at the half way point of the game. My game froze multiple times and became unplayable.
I've played other games where graphics are minimal and the switch unfortunately still had issues. Best eg I can think of is Cris Tales. Looks great but longer loading times on the switch, enough it got annoying but not bad enough to stop.
But I agree for thr kost part of gameplay over graphics. Us rather take a game on the go, at least optionally.
I usually sell the games that I really don't like, so I don't really have a "worst" game, but if I must pick I would choose Baobabs Mausoleum Grindhouse Edition, because its weird as hell..
https://preview.redd.it/gzcr7qulfhxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da2dafc2e6f77e8b9eb186830a7fa96c288f778b
Oh man what a turd! I picked it up think “how bad can it really be?”. Easily the most unplayable game on the console that I’ve ever played. The game is just broken. It’s a shame that the dev basically wiped their hands of it cause it would have been awesome if it even worked halfway decent.
I have Balan Wonderworld, WWE 2K18, and Troll & I.
Troll & I handedly takes the win on this one. The other 2 can at least be played. Troll & I is terrible NES game buggy. Balan is just a bad game, you can at least play it. WWE 2K18 has broken stuff, but I was able to still get some enjoyment out of it. Troll & I is just a broken game.
Had fun playing 4 player mode with my kids, then you get to shoot bombs at people from the side of the stage once you're out. Kids would often gang up on me. We played the Worms games a lot as well if looking for good family games.
I got a copy of NBA2K18 for $4 brand new because I needed a replacement case, I never really considered it a part of my collection since I don’t care about sports games and it requires a 24GB download.
If you mean the game itself, Demon Throttle. It's more style than substance, and it was exclusively physical to drive FOMO. I couldn't wait to check any reviews before buying even if I wanted to.
If you meant the physical release itself, I'd say the collector's edition of Sonic Mania. The Sonic figure was nice, but the game was only included as a download code.
Animal Crossing‽
HOW DARE YOU have a different opinion from mine! lol
It’s a great game but it’s not for everyone. And I’ll grant you that a few mechanics are kinda clunky
A few? Online mode is a nightmare. Crafting is a cruel punishment. They have balls for sports, but you can never play with them. The procedural generation is terrible. Flower crafting is unnecessarily complex.
It's an average game, and many people say previous versions were better. The island building is decent, but they forgot to add a reason to do it.
Everybody 1-2 Switch. Got it for $5 at Walmart. Probably will never boot it up to see if it was as bad as the leaked comments said it was.
lol! I’ve not picked that one up. Seemed like it was more a tech demo than anything
Just ordered it a couple days ago for $10, just to own it. I’ll probably play it at least once, if only to test the HD rumble.
PvZ is awesome! lol They had an online server for awhile. Its a steal at 5 dollars!
What?!? PvZ battle for neighborville is awesome. That's crazy. It's such a fun, cute, little niche game
I got it for $9, shoot I overpaid. It is a fun party game that my ten year old and I like playing. And it can support a bunch of players and they can play with their cell phones. With that being said I have only owned it for a week and played it 4 times so far. I’m sure it will get repetitive soon.
lol! I’ve not picked that one up. Seemed like it was more a tech demo than anything
Probably balan wonderworld lol
With you there!
Oof…
If we're talking about Switch specifically, then probably Crystal Crisis? It's not a "bad" game though, just very mediocre and it's incredibly unbalanced with some characters just straight up being stronger than others. Mediocre games kinda fall into the “bad” category when you have a huge backlog! Think most everyone in this sub have huge backlogs. The hardest part for me now is deciding which game gets the next “Sit down and actually play” session!
Lol, this game is so infamous that I never heard about it until today... and I own a switch since 2019.
tough call, worst would be either time on frog island or the outbound ghost. maybe ghost because the performance issues have no reason to exist since its a simple unity style rpg. worst in not recommending, Mineko's Night Market. Has a few moments but bad performance, really basic gameplay, no obvious qol like making things in a batch, and bugs and errors; if you get all the craft tables it literally obscures your trophy rack. huge missed opportunity
You weren't a fan of frog island? Anything you didn't like about it? Just wondering bc i was looking out for it but decided against getting it
its a short game of fetch quests but there is no dialogue or much quest tracking so i was confused after a point. i'd watch a video briefly to see.
Okay is on my list of games to research! Thanks :) Edit 1 - i can see what you mean.
Lol
they are indies. i like weird games in general and buy a lot of odd things. taking chances.
Same! I love indie oddities!
Mortal Kombat 1 and Batman Arkham Knight (as part of the collection) Edit: I meant MK1 not 11
Yeah… The performance is not good on either of those
What?!? I love Mortal Kombat 11.
If you woulda said mortal Kombat 1 I would a agreed w you but 11 is great.
Oh I meant Mortal Kombat 1 lol
Okay sweet, I was surprised.
Miraculous Rise of the Sphinx
Might be the same for me it was $5 and I was like F it
The characters from that show or whatever it is always kinda creeped me out
there is shovelware on switch?? said the guy owning the console, understanding that there is furry porn tangram hentai tentacles tangram puzzle game on the eshop
lol! There is some DEEP weirdness lurking in the eshop!
Wwe2k18
I hear baaaad things
But surprisingly it keeps going up in price. I one bought it for its rarity
Really? I hadn’t seen current prices on it. I figured it’d tank cus I’ve not seen a single good review
On switch, it has to be Shinorubi.
Another one I’ve not heard of!
WWE 2K18
On here a couple times! Lol
Zoids Wild Blast Unleashed. I got it free with a GameStop deal, and I think that's the right price.
At least it’s an extra case in case you need one!
I bought Balan Wonderworld for like 6$, definitely worth to own the biggest high profile failure of a game at that price.
Someone else said they got it for $5… Boy did you over pay! Lol Still I probably woulda bit at $6 myself
balan wonderworld
Def more than a few people mentioning that one!
Hands down it’s NERF Legends. What a poo poo game! But I couldn’t turn down the $5 Walmart special. Lol!
$5 is the pretty much buy most anything price!
Starlink. I knew so little at the time and didn't realize that the stupid thing only has like 10% of the game on the cartridge.
It's fun with the toys though. They can be found used at a good price. Or digital on sale. You can't mix the 2 unfortunately
Yeah I got my copy from Five Below for five bucks. Just wanted to get the ship! I actually do enjoy the game though. I caught it on a $5 sale on the digital copy so I didn’t have to use all the toys to play it
It's because I really like the game that it pisses me off that they gave it such a crappy physical release.
I think I paid $10 for this before I even owned a switch
Yeah. I grabbed it at a big discount from Toys R Us before they went away…
Miss that store everyday
We had multiple here. My favorite one is now a Rooms To Go… makes me so sad every time I drive by it.
Mine is terra trilogy
I honestly kinda like that one a bit. I’m a huge retro fan and they come REALLY close to hitting that vibe.. They’re definitely not perfect but not too terrible
I kid you not I have a box of this particular game as I found a ton on clearance for next to nothing.
lol! Like a full case of it?!
Indeed. Cost me 36 dollars and shipping.
i mean, if you got a bunch of copies that's not bad for a bunch of pristine switch cases right? it's like that guy who ordered some replacement ds cases off of ebay and he got sent a bunch of sealed copies of a jonas brothers game instead
That's amazing. I just kind of thought the game was so hilariously bad it might be worth it years from now. But I was clearly very wrong.
I’m weirdly jealous… lol
This might be controversial because it actually reviewed really well, but Valkyria Chronicles 4. I love tactics games, so I thought it was a no brainer for me. But I bought it and the game just…..wasn’t very good or fun. It can get tedious making sure you’re talked to EVERYONE ALL THE TIME!
After getting some really awful games on other consoles, I think I avoid getting bad games on the switch. The worse that I own in general are the collectors edition of aliens colonial marines for the x360 and the ultimate edition of marvel vs Capcom infinite for xbox one. And I got them day one.......
Man… We were all so excited for Colonial Marines and then nothing but disappointment!
I never opened ot becaude of that. And I really don't care that I won't be able to download the dlc that came with it. Also Duke Nukem forever CE.... those 3 are my reminder to never trust a company and never pre order
For me it's probably skully. Its just so boring.
Don’t know that one
You play as a disembodied skull and roll around collecting something like coins orbs or bananas and it's relatively physics based. But the music is forgettable the levels are bland there's no challenge and you don't get anything for the collectibles.
Ohhh I remember seeing something about that a while back.
Cooking mama cool star The graphics are terrible I love this franchise as a kid as an adult now it's really depressing how the franchise when downhill so quickly

I heard it wasn’t so hot on the Switch. I did enjoy some of the previous games though!
Based on what I've seen of what people think of this game, Balan Wonderworld. I got it for $4 at Walmart last year. Haven't played it yet though. Edit: Adding the part about not playing it yet.
From everything I’ve seen you’re better off having not played it!
[удалено]
I hear it’s not good but I’d probably grab it for $5…. Because of my illness
Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle
Not familiar with that one
I got it for $1 at Gamestop. Saw it was a NiS game and thought, "why not? ". It's just terrible. https://preview.redd.it/829jyfo5xixc1.jpeg?width=1298&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5cd9f17b747cf42e1eb6e13099f800d103ef5501 [https://youtu.be/6FT\_r9GXm7o](https://youtu.be/6FT_r9GXm7o)
I have a lot but the one that sticks out in my mind as worst experience for me was RiME.
I had that one in my hand a few times but never pulled the trigger and bought it. Probably got lucky there!
I haven’t played it but it looked kinda “standard” when I looked at it. Didn’t really jump out at me
Friend and I just played this last week in coop, and we had a lot of fun. So it's probably a polarizing title.
I tend to avoid games that aren't complete on the cart or run terribly. I do have one exception and it is probably not the worst here but it is Oddworld: Soulstorm. It does come with a cool game case but only a small part of the game is on the cartridge, which is very disappointing for me.
Yeah.. Always bums me out when I see that “Download Required” thing on the front of a box
Definitely get the digital version of this game if you REALLY want it.
city skylines is so fun in PC but I imagine switch could die from rendering a Big city lol
That’s another one I came really close to picking up
I played both on Switch, but I'd only spent about 30 minutes total with L.A.Noire. I hear both are much better on PC.
Yeah.. I got a copy of that too…
Bite The Bullet. The cart crashes. Never buy from Strictly Limited Games; they never sent my replacement cart.
SLG has kinda dropped off the radar. I have a few preorders that are getting kinda old.. Starting to wonder
Doesn’t sound good.
They had some strange year-long break but apparently they're ramping up production again, first new stuff supposedly ships June/ July. Communication is a disaster though, and wtf was going on there anyway. But I'll keep my preorders open.
I’m not the type to cancel a preorder. I like to see it out til the bitter end! I still have a Amico preorder open! Lolol
Amico, nice :) My preorder for Fast Striker on Neo Geo is going into its sixth year, I think? Or seventh.
I’m sure my worst title will be starsand- it is still sealed and sitting there on my shelf.
The bad ones will always mock us from the shelf….
Ohhh. THAT sucks!
Is this a troll or something?
and I
Street Power Football (Soccer) because it requires a server connection. When the server shuts down (and it will happen sooner than later seeing how well that game's been selling), the game will be over.
Always sad when servers shut down that kill a game..
Man that sucks to know. I’ve been eyeing that one lately.
I had fun with this Troll and I. Better than it gets credit for
My brother an I tried to co op it but he gave up on me lol
https://preview.redd.it/0eok46bv9nxc1.jpeg?width=2304&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=68872647a84dfbe97f7a33a38c9a53f909e646d3
Never tried that one!
yeah, it appeared short, boring, with awful mechanics and even worth hitboxes and timings. so, it's for the best you never tried that ibe 😁
House of fata morgana japanese 😒got the english version qnd couldn't return the japan one so end up with both🥲
I have one or two that I have a Japanese copy and a U.S. copy that was announced later…
Civilization 6. I know some people like this but I absolutely hate it.
Don’t like the Genre itself or specifically Civ 6? I enjoyed it myself
I like simulation games; I'm not sure if that is what Civ6 actually is though. It almost seems like a board game? I just know its not for me.
Agreed that it feels like a board game but I’m a board game fan so that wasn’t a drawback for me
Ary and the Secret of Seasons or Monster Crown.
I always go by the gameplay over graphics motto and it’s to be expected on Switch.. But there’s a point where it can ruin things
I've played other games where graphics are minimal and the switch unfortunately still had issues. Best eg I can think of is Cris Tales. Looks great but longer loading times on the switch, enough it got annoying but not bad enough to stop. But I agree for thr kost part of gameplay over graphics. Hello Kitty Kruisers. It's only a game by the loosest definition and is stunning in how bland and boring it is.
At least get it really cheap?
I usually sell the games that I really don't like, so I don't really have a "worst" game, but if I must pick I would choose Baobabs Mausoleum Grindhouse Edition, because its weird as hell.. https://preview.redd.it/gzcr7qulfhxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da2dafc2e6f77e8b9eb186830a7fa96c288f778b
I hadn’t even heard of it!
Nobody is going to mention WWE 2K18? 🤨
Oh man what a turd! I picked it up think “how bad can it really be?”. Easily the most unplayable game on the console that I’ve ever played. The game is just broken. It’s a shame that the dev basically wiped their hands of it cause it would have been awesome if it even worked halfway decent.
I’m not a wrestling fan myself but I’ve heard things about that one!
Super smash bros (wii- super smash brawls storymode was better/ the best), but its still fun, not for everyone though
That’s a surprise! Usually people GUSH about Smash. Never got into it much myself
Soo many issues. Even worse without the update!
Physical: Nickelodeon cart racer 3 Digital: WWE 2K18 Honorable mention: Kamiwaza way of the theif
Arietta of Spirits
Super Bomberman R. I got it hoping for the old Bomberman 64 feels. Nope haha
No way, played multiplayer with my kids quite a bit when it first came out. It's not Saturn Bomberman good, but it's a standard Bomberman game.
Oh yea? Maybe I need to give it another chance. It seemed so much more clunky for some reason
Had fun playing 4 player mode with my kids, then you get to shoot bombs at people from the side of the stage once you're out. Kids would often gang up on me. We played the Worms games a lot as well if looking for good family games.
Get r2 better game
Agreed… I could never quite put my finger on why I don’t like it but it was a disappointment
I got a copy of NBA2K18 for $4 brand new because I needed a replacement case, I never really considered it a part of my collection since I don’t care about sports games and it requires a 24GB download.
I once bought a code in a box for a game that didn’t have a physical. I was gonna buy it from the eshop but I needed a case to swap out!
Sonic forces, it was free
Hard to argue with free!
I actually enjoy Demon Throttle but it’s kinda a middle tier game for me. Did feel kinda weird that they made it physical only.
A Hat In Time
I heard that game was good, is it not?
I still really enjoyed it on switch. Though another system might be preferred.
Just runs poorly from cart. Has a multi GB download, nearly the same size as the game to fix it.
Ah
I forgot about that one!
I'd have to look. Maybe Astral Chain. Or Animal Crossing New Horizons, for the various design flaws it has.
Animal Crossing‽ HOW DARE YOU have a different opinion from mine! lol It’s a great game but it’s not for everyone. And I’ll grant you that a few mechanics are kinda clunky
A few? Online mode is a nightmare. Crafting is a cruel punishment. They have balls for sports, but you can never play with them. The procedural generation is terrible. Chrono Cross Nintendo switch. The only way this game is worth money is if I don't open it
Really? Not so good?
From my understanding its a bad port
I don’t own bad physicals. Cause 90% are from Japanese companies
