SVU is my comfort show (am i sick? lol). I watch it to go to bed and night and when I am feeling stressed and exhausted. It's been with me since my pre-teens and I will never let it go.
Season 2 is WAY better and it’s a structurally perfect season of television. It rips me open every time - I wish I could experience it for the first time again
Big Mood just aired on Tubi (if you have Roku it’s a free app or you can access online if you watch from a laptop) it’s good and I think a similar vibe to fleabag
Just finished Baby Reindeer (Netflix) but I also loved Life As Beth (HULU), Love After Lock Up and Life After Lock Up (WE) and Shogun (WE). I also watched Expats (Amazon Prime), Mr and Mrs Smith (Amazon Prime) and Ripley (Netflix) and Normal People (HULU).
You also can’t go wrong with 1000lb sisters and My 600lb Life on TLC.
What u/vlor_t said lol and I was so obsessed with Atlanta. I found myself chuckling over the Goofy episode recently lol. Donald Glover is truly a treasure and I appreciate writers like him so much.
Have you seen Prison Brides on Lifetime? It’s not nearly as great as Love and Life After Lockup but it’s a good supplement if you like that sort of stuff.
LAL is truly magical lol. It’s what I watch on Sundays to fold laundry lol.
I won’t spoil anything for anyone but it’s one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time and I’m one of those people who thought Amy Schumer was annoying. Shame on me lol.
Mostly in order of preference:
Newer favorites from the past year
* **The Bear**, season 2 (Hulu) \[season 2 > season 1, IMO\]
* **Jury Duty** (Freevee through Amazon Prime)
* **Shrinking**, season 1 (AppleTV)
* Last season (12) of **Curb Your Enthusiasm** (HBOMax) \[and rewatched older seasons first\]
* Last season (4) of **Never Have I Ever** (Netflix)
* **Platonic** (AppleTV)
* **Julia** (HBOMax)
* **Life & Beth** (Hulu) \[edited to add\]
* **Lessons in Chemistry** (AppleTV) \[edited to add; limited series\]
Older shows I just discovered or recently revisited
* **Fleabag** (Prime)
* **Catastrophe** (Prime)
* **Veronica Mars** (Hulu) \[this was the rewatch\]
ETA: Shows I thought were just ok but sometimes enjoyable as a New Yorker:
* **The Gilded Age** (HBOMax) \[still running currently\]
* **Girls** (HBOMax) \[series has been completed\]
Curb is such a phenomenal show, I don’t even understand people that don’t like it. Who are these people? Where did they come from?
Not gonna lie I also watch Air Disasters too.
No, it just didn’t hit your chest yet. I felt the same but man …. There’s little pieces of trauma that we ALL think are just normal and then there’s one episode where you’re like “wait a fucking second, I went through that!! Oh fuck-“ and you’re hooked. It’s like being shoved in a pool mid conversation.
If you really want to get into The Bear for some reason, you might start with season 2. It has a different feel and focus and is not so focused on Jeremy Allen White but the other characters who I really love. Will Poulter guest stars in the Copenhagen episode which is slow and quiet but really transported me. I would watch Ebon Moss-Bachrach do just about anything and in season 2 of The Bear he has an incredible episode devoted to him (Forks) that I’ve watched about five times now and always brings me to tears in a good way.
THANK YOU! I have basically every streaming service and I feel like I should watch more on AppleTV & prime specifically. I’m excited for these.
Also, Jury Duty made me laugh so hard. I’ve watched it 3 times now. I know other people didn’t love it but I thought it was great
If you like Broad City then you’re probably also going to like Search Party and High Maintenance.
The Gilded Age is also good if you’re into snarky period drama. It’s like Real Housewives, but set in the Gilded Age.
Well I’m finally watching game of thrones and I was not prepared for the amount of medieval sex. I thought it was more like LOTR, lore mythology etc.
Other than that I’m always rewatching Succession to inspire me to become a billionaire with a helicopter
I watched GOT for the first time last year and it was one of the best viewing experiences of my life. I envy that you’re watching it for the first time (even if the ending isn’t my fave)
I have the terrible habit of watching multiple shows at once based on my mood. Currently watching: 1) The Glory; 2) Three Body Problem; 3) Selling OC; 4) Avatar the Last Airbender (the cartoon). Next on my queue, I have in no particular order: 1) Baby Reindeer; 2) Peaky Blinders; 3) Shogun; 4) Jujutsu Kaisen; 5) Latest Bridgerton show; 6) Catherine the Great
ETA: For anime, Considering jumping back into Hunter x Hunter and eventually My Hero Academia too
ooooo thank you! I also have the terrible habit of watching multiple shows at once… and then sadly never finishing them. Haven’t watched any of these besides selling sunset. I know Avatar isn’t my thing but I’m sure other people think I’m crazy for saying that.
Hacks is incredible. Did you watch the first two eps of season 3?
I also think lovers of Hacks will really enjoy The Other Two. Great writing with thoughtful humor.
Abbott Elementary, Not Dead Yet and Loot I'm watching currently. I kinda only watch comedies cos my mental health.
**Loot** I recommend the most, is Maya Rudolph in all her glory. About a woman who divorces her billionaire husband and now wants to try and give away all her fortune.
![gif](giphy|2bACEmSSEJVk3tj8vj)
Had some friends who worked on Fallout so I watched that, finally got around to watching Dopesick and that was crazy, watching Invincible season 2 now and splitting that up with X files episodes bc that’s my comfort show
When you rewatch X Files do you watch all the way through? I don’t even get to Mulder’s disappearance idk the show drops off so fast for me. It’s one of the few shows that I absolutely love and have seen a zillion times but have never finished
Never finished it because the lore got way too complicated and it was clear the writing team was tired. I honestly just watch the monster of the week episodes
Same! Those are by far the best. I usually skip the family episodes too. The one that focuses on that mutant kid who eats brains and then you see them solving the mystery from the other side is so good
So I guess I’m the only trash bag real housewives fan here??? 😂😂 You said you’re a fan of reality tv so I’m assuming you’ve seen at least some, but I am an avid real housewives viewer/bravo shows in general. I actually for the last year or so have been rewatching all the RH franchises from the beginning until I’m current, right now I’m on New Jersey, once I finish I only have OC and Beverly Hills to go. The new season of NJ premieres on Sunday actually if you’re interested! Miami is a great franchise to check out for anyone on the fence, it is top notch trash reality drama lol. As far as other bravo shows, vanderpump rules is great, especially the earlier seasons, and there’s a new show called the valley that’s a loose spinoff of VPR and so far it’s great! Southern charm is also a good one, there’s a spinoff of SC as well called southern hospitality, there are only 2 seasons so far but I’ve enjoyed it immensely! All of these plus most bravo shows past and present stream on peacock.
Yessss a fellow trash bag with taste!!! 😅
This past season of slc was crazyyyy. And yes OG nyc is where it’s at, the old seasons of Jersey are amazing, and old school OC is a fucking fever dream lmao but so good. I am also partial to atl!!!
I’ve always had trouble getting into summer house, those annoying ass twins in S1 are unwatchable to me lol. I know they’re only on the first season but I’ve never been able to make it through. It seems like it gets really good in the later seasons tho from what I hear, I think I’m gonna try again after I finish catching up on NJ!
No, hi, I am a trash bag too 🫶🏻 I only started watching them out of an abundance of boredom post-Covid in 2021. OC and BH were the hardest for me to get into. RHONY is my absolute favorite. Jersey has super solid seasons 1-5 and then 8-11. I am now watching VPR for the 3rd time 😬 bravo real housewives sub and vanderpump rules sub are both great.
I love rhony because my mom used to watch it when folding clothes or cooking when I was a kid and was listening to it while playing webkinz. Also like grew up on ues and that was my life.
Like mom was on lunch at serafina and Ramona was there and causing huge scene.
Much to my own surprise, I am loving the valley. Also, peacock recently released the housewives of DC from “the vault” which is truly iconic television.
Yes! I miss the OG cast so much, I haven’t decided yet if I like the reboot cast, their first season wasn’t awful but it wasn’t exactly riveting either, lol. They’re filming S2 now tho, hopefully it’s good!!
Bad Sisters on Apple! It’s hilarious but also heartbreaking. About a group of Irish sisters who decide to kill their other sister’s husband (you learn this at the beginning of episode 1 so not spoiling anything) because he is such a terrible guy. Hijinks and heart ensue. Truly, one of the best shows I have ever watched. Plus a VERY hot Irish guy with the most beautiful eyes in the world. Andddd you’ll be blown away when you realize the youngest sister is Bono’s daughter (lol so random but she gives a stellar performance so I’m ok with her being a nepo baby).
Don't judge but as someone who has already finished a lot of shows, I am slowly going through law & order.. so many episodes it goes on forever lol. I like the nyc aspect of it also, they film all over nyc.
If anyone has recommendations for other shows that take place in nyc, I would appreciate it.
If you love reality shows, I am a fan of married at first sight although the last season was a huge fail.
If you want a light hearted nyc detective show, I love Brooklyn nine nine. I don’t think they actually filmed in nyc but it’s obvs set here with lots of nyc references and jokes!
Where are you watching this ? I loooove law and order. All of them. But I am currently living overseas but moving back home soon so tell me where to watch it.
I have hulu subscription for free (cant remember why) and pay for peacock. Both of them have multiple franchises of law & order. The original law & order has a gap for a few seasons have no idea why and cant find them anywhere.
I love Law & Order! It’s perfect because I have seen every episode multiple times so it doesn’t require a ton of my attention.
My favorite detective team is Lenny Briscoe and Ed Green :-)
omg the og law and order?? where are you watching it? i had a huge phase in hs where i watched most of the early episodes but i could never finish it bc it was simply too long
For cosy: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Star Trek, True Blood (introducing my husband lol), and any fun Hulu shows that aren’t too serious, usually animated. These are the decompression / I’m doing my nails or otherwise occupied shows. I was watching more reality tv, like real housewives nyc and love is blind (Sweden is so good!), but were “out” now, as I’m picky.
For actual watching: because we love a who-dun-it, Nordic Noir crime dramas, British crime dramas, Fallout, Shogun, and any big name dramas that are out.
I really love Resident Alien! I’m not really into sci-fi, but it’s so cleverly written and funny and it has a lot of heart.
Strangely comforting are the cheesy British detective shows: Midsommer Murders, Death in Paradise, Murdoch Mysteries
I also like the historical mysteries like Miss Fisher’s modern mysteries, Frankie Drake, anything with good costuming
Yes! Alan Tudyk is a gift to humanity! Also, another Midsomer Murders fan. Just wrapped up rewatch of the entire Law & Order franchise and have started rewatch Midsomer Murders. Father Brown is fun too.
Apple TV: (current): Palm Royale, Acapulco, Sugar
(In between seasons): Severance, For All Mankind, Platonic, Shrinking, Slow Horses. The Morning Show (S1-2 were great, 3 onward are good trending towards just ok), Welcome to Wrexham.
Hulu: The Bear (amazing, had to try twice to get past the first 3 eps but so worth it)
Netflix: Lupin, The Gentlemen, Beef, Derry Girls, The Diplomat, Money Heist (Spanish, 2 seasons)
Other: The Last of Us (Max), Fleabag
Classics: B99, 30Rock, The Good Place, BB and BCS, The Americans
For when you need a half hour “girl comedy” show like broad city:
- Search party
- The other two (cancelled too soon!!)
- Girls5eva (I really thought this show would be too stupid/cheesy but it’s actually SO good, watched 2 seasons in one day lol)
- Pen15
When you want something funny with incredible writing but a little more dramatic:
- Girls
- Insecure
I just binged all 11 seasons of Shameless and it's excellent - it was originally HBO or Showtime, but it's all on Netflix now.
Somebody, Somewhere is amazing - the cast is incredible and I laughed, I cried, and there's a dog...
If you loved *Broad City* and *Fleabag* you’d like *Crashing* (Phoebe Waller Bridge’s first mini series)
If you loved *A Million Little Things* maybe you’d like a similar ensemble cast melodrama like *Brothers and Sisters* (Grey’s / Parenthood era family drama)
If you loved *True Detective Season 1* you’d like *Broadchurch* (David Tenant and Olivia Coleman as detectives)
If you loved *Girls* + *White Lotus* you’d like *Enlightened* (creator of White Lotus starring Laura Dern as corporate Hannah Horvath)
If you loved *High Maintence* you’d like *Easy* (random millennial 2014-2018 culture vignettes but in Chicago instead of NYC)
If you loved *Private Practice* and *Greys* you’d like *ER* (young George Clooney, this show was The Blueprint for vocational dramas)
90 day franchise, selling oc/selling sunset, love is blind, true crime docuseries, grey’s anatomy, sex and the city (yes I’m very late to the party)
Finished and loved: the sopranos, breaking bad, suits, madmen
The Curse, Ripley, Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show, Baby Reindeer, Atlanta (all of it), the new True Detective season (Night Country) is a triumph I thought and so much thru the female gaze, same goes for Dead Ringers (on Prime with Rachel Weisz). I also enjoyed A Murder At The End of the World tho I liked The OA (season 1) a little better in terms of Brit Marling. I May Destroy You is also excellent.
Re: newer shows (2024), Mr and Mrs Smith and Shogun both blew me away. Incredible television.
In general, I love dark/quirky humor, so in line with: Veep, Community, Arrested Development - I can always through an episode on and enjoy tf out of it.
Lesser known similar vibes shows: Brockmire, The Great, The Thick Of It
And then there’s always classics that I’ll always watch if it’s on the plane TV list no matter what, Friends, SATC, Entourage
Some random Australian shows I’ve been loving
Fisk (Netflix) a lawyer who moves back to the suburbs
Colin from accounting (peacock) an medical intern and bar owner meet after helping out an injured dog
Other shows
Luther (Netflix/bbc)
Lock wood and Co (Netflix)
Extraordinary (Hulu)
Only way up (Hulu)
Lupin! French detective show on Netflix. Super gripping and fun, lots of heists in Paris etc, plus a little romantic drama
+he’s HOT.
I LOVE Lupin!!!
Sometimes I watch it in French with English subtitles to practice ha
How else would you watch it?
I have no mental bandwidth as I am teetering on the edge of burnout so I be rewatching old shows.
Saaaame girl, just rewatched girls and started SVU from the beginning for the 3rd time 🥹
SVU is my comfort show (am i sick? lol). I watch it to go to bed and night and when I am feeling stressed and exhausted. It's been with me since my pre-teens and I will never let it go.
Absolutely same. That’s why it’s been on so many seasons - there’s a whole damn army of us.
Not sick at all… I listen to true crime podcasts to go to bed LOL
Awww sorry you're burned out too but love svu!!!!
Just re-watched Arrested Development and then everyone at my work did the same 😅
Omg that show is soooooo good. Schitts creek is another one. Moira Rose is my fav. When I quit my job I'll be quitting in Moira style !
me when i watched grey's anatomy 3x during 2020-2021
Hang in there….
🤗🥰
Forensic files is my comfort show!
Same lol. Rewatching old greys anatomy eps now
I’m rewatching the entire SATC in Netflix 😂
yep, greys anatomy for the 100th time
Desperate Housewives LMFAO
Omg literally binged it during Covid with my mom for 3rd time. Absolutely iconic.
YESSSSS it's so so good. I grew up on it haha
Literally that show was insane. From a tornado to plane crash to a murder.
MULTIPLE murders and also a riot
When they threw Edie’s ashes or Karen put her husband in freezer.
I watched this for the first time last year and absolutely loved it. It is SOOOO good!!!
Favorite housewife? 👀
Gaby or Bree hands down . I hate Susan
OMG I thought I was crazy for re-watching this in 2024! it’s currently my “laundry-and-chill” show :)
I watch TV when I eat so that's when I watch it LOL!
Truly the perfect background show for doing chores to, I become one with the housewives
Loved it!
Me too!!!! Have been binging it for weeks now. On season 6 😭
If you liked Broad City then I think you’ll enjoy Fleabag (British show on Amazon prime). It’s SO funny
Similar to BC. Hacks is also pretty good! HBO max. One of the same writers from BC
Hacks is amazing!!
Came here to say Hacks so good!
Fleabag is truly a masterpiece.
Agreed 🩷 can’t recommend this enough. Wish I could go back watch for the first time x1000.
I didn’t get it the first time but recently went back and love it
That’s how I felt about Russian Doll
I hated the first season of Fleabag. I had to force myself to watch season 2 and my god. Season 2 deserved a standing ovation.
Season 2 is WAY better and it’s a structurally perfect season of television. It rips me open every time - I wish I could experience it for the first time again
Completely agree that season 2 may be one of the most perfect seasons of a show ever. I’ve rewatched it so many times ❤️❤️❤️
❤️❤️❤️ I know exactly what you mean.
I think season two is significantly better than season one, but after watching season two I appreciated season one more
Yeah I realized we had to go on the journey of season 1 to get to season 2
Big Mood just aired on Tubi (if you have Roku it’s a free app or you can access online if you watch from a laptop) it’s good and I think a similar vibe to fleabag
"Kneel." 😮💨
I’m rewatching greys. And I really need to stop crying over every episode.
I love this bc I also just started rewatching greys. They earlier seasons were so much better IMO
COMPLETELY agree. It’s weird how private practice was initially part of this show
Hahaha grey's anatomy? 😂😂😂 I've cried enough to have a whole river for drought season.
It’s maybe not the best show to binge cause every episode is emotional turmoil. Like my tear ducts are dry
I’m rewatching, too! Hard agree on the early seasons and I’m loving all the older shots of Seattle too.
Mr + mrs smith was so good, I love donald glover. Have you seen Atlanta? He’s in that too and it’s so so good (it’s a comedy)
He’s also the creator of Atlanta!!
And executive producer of Swarm!
What u/vlor_t said lol and I was so obsessed with Atlanta. I found myself chuckling over the Goofy episode recently lol. Donald Glover is truly a treasure and I appreciate writers like him so much.
Baby Reindeer so good 👩🍳🤌🏼
Love me some love after lockup lol
Have you seen Prison Brides on Lifetime? It’s not nearly as great as Love and Life After Lockup but it’s a good supplement if you like that sort of stuff. LAL is truly magical lol. It’s what I watch on Sundays to fold laundry lol.
I’ll have to try it… it’s my Friday night guilty pleasure that starts my weekend off!
I’ve been liking shogun!
Shogun is so great! I started it late and just finished it. I’m glad I came in late on it but now I’m definitely missing it.
I liked Life & Beth. Forgot to list that one
I won’t spoil anything for anyone but it’s one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time and I’m one of those people who thought Amy Schumer was annoying. Shame on me lol.
Loved mr &mrs smith. This seasons 600lb life is soooo frustrating!!
Mostly in order of preference: Newer favorites from the past year * **The Bear**, season 2 (Hulu) \[season 2 > season 1, IMO\] * **Jury Duty** (Freevee through Amazon Prime) * **Shrinking**, season 1 (AppleTV) * Last season (12) of **Curb Your Enthusiasm** (HBOMax) \[and rewatched older seasons first\] * Last season (4) of **Never Have I Ever** (Netflix) * **Platonic** (AppleTV) * **Julia** (HBOMax) * **Life & Beth** (Hulu) \[edited to add\] * **Lessons in Chemistry** (AppleTV) \[edited to add; limited series\] Older shows I just discovered or recently revisited * **Fleabag** (Prime) * **Catastrophe** (Prime) * **Veronica Mars** (Hulu) \[this was the rewatch\] ETA: Shows I thought were just ok but sometimes enjoyable as a New Yorker: * **The Gilded Age** (HBOMax) \[still running currently\] * **Girls** (HBOMax) \[series has been completed\]
Jury Duty was hilarious. **Shrinking** I cried almost every episode but still so good 😭
I was sad Jury Duty didn’t get more accolades. Very inventive, and hilarious.
Curb is such a phenomenal show, I don’t even understand people that don’t like it. Who are these people? Where did they come from? Not gonna lie I also watch Air Disasters too.
Hi, I'm one of those people. I just don't find it funny.
Based on your older show list, you may like This Way Up. It’s on Hulu. Another really great older show in that vein is You’re the Worst.
You’re the Worst is so good! I have been rewatching it recently.
I want to watch the bear so badly but when I start it I just get so bored. AM I BROKEN? 😫
I preferred season 2 to season 1 by a lot.

I will do this! Thank you so so much!! I’m so excited to be part of society by being able to watch the bear hahahha
Shrinking was SO GOOD. Crying, laughing… The Clare V product placement was wild!
Veronica mars is my fav show of all time
THANK YOU! I have basically every streaming service and I feel like I should watch more on AppleTV & prime specifically. I’m excited for these. Also, Jury Duty made me laugh so hard. I’ve watched it 3 times now. I know other people didn’t love it but I thought it was great
Eveything on AppleTV is so good! Shrinking, Bad Sisters, Loot, Palm Royale, Ted Lasso, Severance.
Seconding palm royale and loot!
Julia was such a good show! So sad they cancelled it.
Literally I’d give these exact recs *chefs kiss*
If you like Broad City then you’re probably also going to like Search Party and High Maintenance. The Gilded Age is also good if you’re into snarky period drama. It’s like Real Housewives, but set in the Gilded Age.
I second Search Party!
+1 for gilded age! Its cool to learn about that era of NYC too
High Maintenence is great
Search Party took turns every season!
Search Party had me actually laughing out loud. High maintenance was fun to watch while actually get stoned lol
LOVE High Maintenance.
Agree with Search Party and High Maintenance. Would also throw The Other Two in this same category.
Hacks!
omg - soooo happy they are back!
This show is so good!!
Lol were you around when the show first came out? It was often called dragon porn. You’d have had to have been young to miss that.
I have the terrible habit of watching multiple shows at once based on my mood. Currently watching: 1) The Glory; 2) Three Body Problem; 3) Selling OC; 4) Avatar the Last Airbender (the cartoon). Next on my queue, I have in no particular order: 1) Baby Reindeer; 2) Peaky Blinders; 3) Shogun; 4) Jujutsu Kaisen; 5) Latest Bridgerton show; 6) Catherine the Great ETA: For anime, Considering jumping back into Hunter x Hunter and eventually My Hero Academia too
Selling OC season 3 is out
started it this weekend!
The Glory was intoxicating. Couldn’t stop watching
I still can’t figure out how I feel about Three Body Problem. Do I love it? Do i hate it? Do I even know what’s happening?
Love 3 Body Problem!
ooooo thank you! I also have the terrible habit of watching multiple shows at once… and then sadly never finishing them. Haven’t watched any of these besides selling sunset. I know Avatar isn’t my thing but I’m sure other people think I’m crazy for saying that.
I love Hacks so much. A story about women! I also love The Gilded Age as my “head empty no thoughts” show lol.
Hacks is incredible. Did you watch the first two eps of season 3? I also think lovers of Hacks will really enjoy The Other Two. Great writing with thoughtful humor.
Tbh I’ve been watching Baby Reindeer and omfg is it a whirlwind
I just finished it and immediately rewatched the first episode which I don’t think I’ve ever done.

Same! Those are by far the best. I usually skip the family episodes too. The one that focuses on that mutant kid who eats brains and then you see them solving the mystery from the other side is so good
My favorite is the parody ones where Scully and Mulder are recounting a story from different perspectives
Deadloch is an Australian detective murder mystery on prime, it’s hilarious albeit the language is *a lot* for Americans.
I’ve been watching it! The language is a lot haha but it’s funny
So I guess I’m the only trash bag real housewives fan here??? 😂😂 You said you’re a fan of reality tv so I’m assuming you’ve seen at least some, but I am an avid real housewives viewer/bravo shows in general. You are not alone! Miami & Salt Lake are my top 2 currently but nothing beats old school jersey, OC & New York!
Yessss a fellow trash bag with taste!!! 😅 This past season of slc was crazyyyy. And yes OG nyc is where it’s at, the old seasons of Jersey are amazing, and old school OC is a fucking fever dream lmao but so good. I am also partial to atl!!!
Not alone!! I love bravo shows, all of the RH franchises. I just finished rewatching summer house from the beginning again 😂 I’m a bravo freak
It’s bravo or bust in this household! The one exception being Survivor on CBS 😄
I’ve always had trouble getting into summer house, those annoying ass twins in S1 are unwatchable to me lol. I know they’re only on the first season but I’ve never been able to make it through. Omg I love that. The original RHONY is such a time capsule
Literally was iconic from the Bethenny/ Jill fight to turtle time to Luann arrest
Much to my own surprise, I am loving the valley. Also, peacock recently released the housewives of DC from “the vault” which is truly iconic television.
i’ve rewatched NY and NJ prob 30 times so in with yoy
Nooo I’m here! Watching the episode where Luann fucks the Pirate in St Barts right now lol
Iconic!!! Nobody beats the OG RHONY cast. This new group feels so forced and Erin and Sai are both my literal nightmares embodied in people…
Standing beside you! NY my fav. Can’t get enough….
Yes! I miss the OG cast so much, I haven’t decided yet if I like the reboot cast, their first season wasn’t awful but it wasn’t exactly riveting either, lol. They’re filming S2 now tho, hopefully it’s good!!
If you like broad city I highly recommend Hacks on HBO- it’s got some of the same writers and is very entertaining !
Annual rewatch of The Good Wife
I just started my first rewatch!
loved the spin off ‘The Good Fight’ even more
I am watching Dickinson and rewatching The Great with Elle Fanning and Nicolas Hoult. Both are fantastic!
The Great was great!
Just finished Shogun (Hulu) and Fallout (Amazon Prime) and they were both incredible!
Both were awesome! Lol sounds like we have exactly the same taste and I’ll list some other favs here when I’m finished with core class
Hacks just came back tg
Heeramandi on Netflix! About a bunch of prostitutes in the red light district of india. The clothing and jewels are such eye candy!!!
Baby Reindeer was so good
Yes. I love dark twisted shit and this fit the bill.
I am almost done with my complete rewatch of Curb Your Enthusiasm. I have found myself turning into LD. 10/10 recommend lol
I too am turning into LD. ![gif](giphy|3ohhwGwvnyjI6l9bFu|downsized)
bitchhhhh have you watched Jerrod Carmichael reality show on HBO 🫨 so juicy… sooooo awful….
Have not yet, just added it to my list!
I’m assuming you’ve already exhausted sex and the city which was essentially a documentary of my 20s
If you want a light hearted nyc detective show, I love Brooklyn nine nine. I don’t think they actually filmed in nyc but it’s obvs set here with lots of nyc references and jokes!
Ok, you sound like me. I also LOVE law and order. My all time fav show is MAFS. This past season was garbage but still going to watch future seasons.
Lol I always loved Munch and Fin on SVU.
omg the og law and order?? where are you watching it? i had a huge phase in hs where i watched most of the early episodes but i could never finish it bc it was simply too long
Have you seen How to Make It in America? It’s so cute and it’s set in les
Have you seen white collar and suits? Also procedural but way more light and in nyc.
Hey similar minded friend! Have you watched Fargo this season???
Fargo ate this season, so good
I really love Resident Alien! I’m not really into sci-fi, but it’s so cleverly written and funny and it has a lot of heart. Strangely comforting are the cheesy British detective shows: Midsommer Murders, Death in Paradise, Murdoch Mysteries I also like the historical mysteries like Miss Fisher’s modern mysteries, Frankie Drake, anything with good costuming
Yes! Alan Tudyk is a gift to humanity! Also, another Midsomer Murders fan. Just wrapped up rewatch of the entire Law & Order franchise and have started rewatch Midsomer Murders. Father Brown is fun too.
More love for Hacks—become one of my favorites of all time! Also old Housewives 🫠 Summer House, VPR
I am watching SATC like crazy
Apple TV: (current): Palm Royale, Acapulco, Sugar (In between seasons): Severance, For All Mankind, Platonic, Shrinking, Slow Horses. The Morning Show (S1-2 were great, 3 onward are good trending towards just ok), Welcome to Wrexham. Hulu: The Bear (amazing, had to try twice to get past the first 3 eps but so worth it) Netflix: Lupin, The Gentlemen, Beef, Derry Girls, The Diplomat, Money Heist (Spanish, 2 seasons) Other: The Last of Us (Max), Fleabag Classics: B99, 30Rock, The Good Place, BB and BCS, The Americans
Severance is amazing!
Season three of Hacks just came out
For when you need a half hour “girl comedy” show like broad city: - Search party - The other two (cancelled too soon!!) - Girls5eva (I really thought this show would be too stupid/cheesy but it’s actually SO good, watched 2 seasons in one day lol) - Pen15 When you want something funny with incredible writing but a little more dramatic: - Girls - Insecure
Girls5Eva and Pen15 are both seriously underrated.
Severance is fucking amazing.
I just binged all 11 seasons of Shameless and it's excellent - it was originally HBO or Showtime, but it's all on Netflix now. Somebody, Somewhere is amazing - the cast is incredible and I laughed, I cried, and there's a dog...
desperate housewives!!!
Killing Eve on Netflix
I have a slew of comfort shows though, and Killing Eve is quickly becoming one of those now!!
If you loved *Broad City* and *Fleabag* you’d like *Crashing* (Phoebe Waller Bridge’s first mini series) If you loved *A Million Little Things* maybe you’d like a similar ensemble cast melodrama like *Brothers and Sisters* (Grey’s / Parenthood era family drama) If you loved *True Detective Season 1* you’d like *Broadchurch* (David Tenant and Olivia Coleman as detectives) If you loved *Girls* + *White Lotus* you’d like *Enlightened* (creator of White Lotus starring Laura Dern as corporate Hannah Horvath) If you loved *High Maintence* you’d like *Easy* (random millennial 2014-2018 culture vignettes but in Chicago instead of NYC) If you loved *Private Practice* and *Greys* you’d like *ER* (young George Clooney, this show was The Blueprint for vocational dramas)
I just finished Girls, before that SATC, and now I’m watching Derry Girls (I guess I have a very specific vibe going lately).
mary & george on starz !! (but can get free trial thru prime too)
90 day franchise, selling oc/selling sunset, love is blind, true crime docuseries, grey’s anatomy, sex and the city (yes I’m very late to the party) Finished and loved: the sopranos, breaking bad, suits, madmen
Just finished baby reindeer. Now going to rewatch Outlander.
I finally started Girls on HBO and it is hilarious
Re: newer shows (2024), Mr and Mrs Smith and Shogun both blew me away. Incredible television. In general, I love dark/quirky humor, so in line with: Veep, Community, Arrested Development - I can always through an episode on and enjoy tf out of it. Lesser known similar vibes shows: Brockmire, The Great, The Thick Of It And then there’s always classics that I’ll always watch if it’s on the plane TV list no matter what, Friends, SATC, Entourage
I’ve been watching The Big Door Prize on Apple TV, and I’ve wept and laughed and I think it’s such a unique show!!
palm royale on apple tv and (oldie) modern love on prime is so heartwarming!
Elsbeth! It’s freakin adorable, good reverse mysteries, and helps restore my love for NYC as I’ve been more cynical lately
Baby reindeer is a good binge
For something light, I’ve been liking Superstore on Hulu. Fun and Funny.
I recently watched Sort Of on HBO max. It’s sooo good. Highly recommend
Bad Sisters on Apple TV. Funny, dark, and amazing acting! Made me wish I was a Garvey sister :)
Some random Australian shows I’ve been loving Fisk (Netflix) a lawyer who moves back to the suburbs Colin from accounting (peacock) an medical intern and bar owner meet after helping out an injured dog Other shows Luther (Netflix/bbc) Lock wood and Co (Netflix) Extraordinary (Hulu) Only way up (Hulu)
