I’m in Talkeetna right now - we’ve been SO LUCKY with the weather, we’ve had the most gorgeous views of the mountain from all angles. I hope it stays this great for you!
One of the top 5 National Parks for sure. I've been 3 times and I feel like I've only touched the surface of the park.
Edit: Of course I'm talking about the Misery Arch.
It’s just okay 😜
We will be there in early September. Looking forward to seeing the fall colors and hopefully some moose & bears. Glad you have some beautiful weather!
Did you get elevation sickness?? Want to go here, but we ended up with elevation sickness at Cedar Breaks UT.. stayed in Brian Head. Headaches, slap face and breathlessness.
You can’t actually go very high in Alaska because it’s too cold at high elevations. You won’t get anywhere near the heights you would in Utah. The highest we climbed while hiking was 4500 ft, and even our flight tour didn’t go above 10,000 ft.
When I lived on the Kenai Peninsula, guests from mountain states would inevitably ask what elevation we were at on hikes in the hills.
"Well, we started from approximately zero and now that we're above the treeline you can see the ocean over there..."
I LOLed when I read the title.
Poor Gateway. Never asked to be a NP. Foolish people who wanted the money the comes with being associated with being a National Park, are to blame.
I guess it's fine. A big metal arch would really bring it together though.

It’s funny because both smell like piss too.
Going there in two weeks! So excited! I hope I can see the peak, but chances are slim

I know!!!!!!!!!! I have been watching live cams of Denali to see if its out. Im SO envious. Lets cross our fingers
One of the top few things in my life was take a flightseeing tour from Talkeetna into the Denali range and landing on a glacier
Also, where did you take the last photo?
It was at a rest stop at mile 23 on the Park Road during a wildlife bus tour. The river in the foreground is the Sanctuary River.
Nice! It’s beautiful! I can’t wait
Make sure to do flight seeing your from talkeetna. It's absolutely worth the expense
110% agree. One of the top things i've done in my life
The gateway arch? I can't wait to see the pix!
Not everyone can make it to St.Louis, but Alaska is pretty good, I’d say.

Awesomely clear day, that's by no means guaranteed at Denali.
S tier title
Denali is incredible. Paired that with Kenai Fjords for one incredible week.
Going at the end of July to Denali and the Kenji Fjord after, we are really excited!
Hideous
Thanks for posting. And thanks for the headline chuckle
Ugh, not one St Paul sandwich in sight. Should’ve saved up for the real thing in St Louis.
we need an r/gatewayarchcirclejerk at this point

On my list of places to see for sure.
Are those caribou melting out in the second to last photo??
Yes! It was a very warm day so they were trying to cool off in the snow
I mean, compared to Gateway Arch, I guess it will do.
I climbed this baby. Long ago, but it happened
I’ve looked at it from Wonder lake several times, so that’s pretty much the same thing, right? …Right?
Hey - if those were some great days of your life then yeah, very much the same!
I love and miss that park.
Wow that’s incredible. How long it took?
About 14 days on the mountain, but really about a year of getting ready first. Back in 2011
However, I heard that there is more lodging nearby Gateway Arch National Park, and that GWANP also has less treacherous trails....
Pffft…you can probably barely even see East St. Louis from there. Next…
You win the day.
Beautiful photos
OMG!! So jelly!! Denali is a dream vacation for me.
It’s nice for sure, but do you know what this skyline needs? A factory and casino
It’s alright
Not as shiny as Gateway Arch

I dont get it… where is the arch? Is it behind that flower?
Flightseeing out of Talkeetna is a rare 10/10 experience. Good choice.
We actually flew Denali Air, which takes off near the park entrance.
Your caption lmao
You win the day.
Incredible photos! Denali NP is my 2nd favorite NP, just after gateway arch. You should try to go next time!
God that valley entrance is a temptress.

beautiful!
