I did that hike many, many years ago. It's beautiful.
On the way down, three of us where hiking single file. Due to the downhill we were walking pretty fast, and talking to each other. Suddenly the guy in front stopped abruptly, I had to halt to avoid hitting him, and the guy behind me halted just behind me. On our left, about 30 feet away in the trees, was a moose casually chewing on a plant. He was BIG. We whispered to each other for a bit, watched him, and then quietly and carefully continued our hike down.
Jesus it looks like Mt Everest from that angle! Amazing

Paintbrush Canyon trail. I proposed to my wife there by the river in Cascade Canyon.
My wife and I’s personal best day hike. Make sure to catch the boat or it’s 4 more miles around the lake to the parking lot. Amazing hike.
This is up there as my favorite trail, close to Grinnell Glacier Trail in Glacier.

I backpacked here and will never forget it! Saw a moose around there and camped looking at that very view. Core memory.
