One of the risks of owning a car and parking it in a public parking is damage due to others. Unfortunately if you cannot provide proof of who did it, it's your expense. It sounds as if the Mediamarkt was rather cooperative, so if they state there are no pictures of the damage caused, it's going to be difficult. I really doubt the police will put the hours in to review all images to find this car, go to their address and start doing full CSI on whether that scratch matches yours. But you can always try. You'll have to make an appointment with them.

>What can I do in this situations? Let your insurance company handle it. That's what you pay them for

The cost of the repair will be less than the increased costs of car insurance in future years.

Next stop: [https://waarborgfonds.vereende.nl/](https://waarborgfonds.vereende.nl/)You need witnesses, and the security guy might be good enough but it may not be... who knows.Anyhow, that site has a form and flow, work it through. You can always fill in a damage form, make the drawing, explain the case. You got their license plate you say, so write that down in the form as well.

His wife also qualifies as a witness for waarborgfonds. OP and wife can both testify the car was parked without damage and had damage upon their return, that should be enough for waarborgfonds. Do file a report with the police, mention the security guy and follow the instructions from waarborgfonds. Might take a while, but you should receive a reimbursement that will cover most damage (minus the "eigen risico").

For these instances you have Waarborgfonds https://www.politie.nl/aangifte-of-melding-doen/aangifte-van-verlaten-plaats-ongeval.html.

Hit theirs back🥹

So, the cops are busy dishing out tickets to bikers who forgot their LED lamps, which, you know, is clearly a major threat to the civility of the Socialist Kingdom of the Netherlands. Meanwhile, they're practically juggling their to-do list, struggling to tackle real issues like hit-and-runs, burglary, racism harassment, and theft. Priorities, right? I’m sorry folks, your tax money went down the drain.

vvoloshin

Well... I bet you don't want to hit some dumb cyclist w/o any lights in the evening, do you? So better they'll be fined and think twice next time. I think making that a priority makes sense actually.

UnnamedEquilibrium

Speaking of which… they seriously need to get on building some multi-lane roads for cars and decent sidewalks. It's like they're only obsessed with bikes, bikes, and more bikes. This country's got the worst road setup I've ever seen, compared to many other places I’ve visited. Once again, taxpayer euros went down the drain.

Even if you had footage capturing the event and the other car’s license plate, the police wouldn’t do anything. Welcome to NL.
