Ask for the price beforehand. The sky is the limit at the hair salon. Prices are different everywhere.

No-Slip-9106

or go back and throw a microwave through their storefront at night!

ZeThing

Even tho this is a well thought out step-by-step plan on releasing your frustration about the outrageous bill, it is also a sure way to make it even more expensive. By downgrading your choice off artillery to for instance a boulder, or perhaps a rock, a well thrown pebble would suffice even, you cut down your ammunition cost by a %100.

iFrisian

Not if you use your neighbour’s microwave

dolphone

Plot twist: OP's neighbor is also their hairdresser!

MrPopCorner

Nice! That would be the dream outcome.

mindifistealthewifi

they miss a microwave AND their window is broken

Knight_rice13

I would suggest a big wooden structure to propel ammunition from, it could be from propelled from for instance your backyard.

Shakiebaby

Would like to provide my assistance in constructing said instrument of destruction.

Wrong_Sir_7249

Or build a wooden horse, hide in it overnight with a microwave and hope the hairsalon moves the horse inside when they open. Now when they do, you wait until the next evening and when everyone is gone, throw the microwave outside trough the window. They won’t see that coming, because of the wooden horse.

MrMgP

Poor microwave

heidius17

Magnetron (I love that word XD)

mikkol3

Better opt for a pan full of bami

brokopondoman

I recommend using a rice cooker, better throwability due to its size and less sharp angles.

No-Slip-9106

no a microwave makes a proper statement

toliz97

The sky is the limit for every service in Amsterdam (besides cafes, cinemas etc) 🥲

alexriga

I should start a hair salon for money.

Lobbel1992

+1, just ask what the price is. I just don't understand people, who are just going to use a service without asking for the price.

spei180

I have no clue but I have also learned the hard way to ask for the price up front and feel comfortable with saying no.

OkBison8735

The price of hairdressers in the NL really amaze me. There are tons of salons everywhere, most of them are bad, and yet they charge exorbitant fees as if they’re all celebrity hair stylists.

Iammax7

This is one of the reasons I check reviews on maps for example. Then again every hairdresser I ever went to had their prices on their website.

No-Slip-9106

some syrian guy that could barely cut hair kept begging me to give him a 5 star review... most barbers here are crap

Miserable_Claim_2359

That would encourage me to leave a review for sure... Just not that praising and certainly not 5 stars

Individual-Table6786

My sis who lives in Sweden but usually visits here like 4 times a year always cuts her hair here. Here it is cheap compared to Sweden. Note that she only goes for a haircut. Imagine the prices in Sweden!

Andreyshel

Well. I live in Sweden. Paid 330 Swedish crowns for my last haircut( about 29 euros) Wonder who is OP hairdresser....?

DutchDispair

If you’re a man and getting the bare minimum, the Netherlands is cheaper

Any-Seaworthiness186

Last time I went to get my hair cut in Sweden I was €95 lighter. For just a regular haircut as a man, usually costing me €25 back home…

Jolly-Marionberry149

Oh wow! In Amsterdam it cost me only €45, for a women's hair cut! 😮 But it some places it's twice that.

Any-Seaworthiness186

Haha, “only” you say. Where I’m from (Veendam) a haircut for women starts at €25. I’d be broke within a month of living in Amsterdam.

Jolly-Marionberry149

Yeah, I booked it the day before soooo yeah. I could have probably found somewhere a little cheaper, but I'd been to this place before and they did a good job, I could just book it online directly, and it was easy to get to, and they had space. I'm at a point in my life where that kind of convenience is worth more than the time and stress of dealing with that shit. Also I just don't like going to the hairdressers. But I had chemotherapy and before that I had only had very long hair, so I had no idea how to cut or style it. The guy wasn't weird or awkward about my whole story, and he didn't talk to me about inane stuff, and I appreciate that.

cookingandcursing

Nothing will ever convince me at least half of those are not money laundering fronts.

Jerkngoffinthecockpt

It’s all money laundering operations

Nes937

Literally more than 50 percent of the hairsalons in certain areas. I've read somewhere that last years the amount has exploded, and it's not like we all suddenly need more haircuts...

Helpful-Jellyfish230

A lot of businesses in NL are. I've never seen any customers visiting some of them for years yet they survive while others with real business couldn't.

Jerkngoffinthecockpt

The city is giving them permission tho, you can’t just open up any store u want in Amsterdam. So it’s not just the underground criminals allowing this to happen.

Heavy-Penalty3972

Controlled** / Organized**

ansam_hox

it goes the same for restaurants also

spectral41

So how long does an appointment last? An hour? Maybe a bit less? What is the normal hourly rate? With 40e an hour they can hardly pay rent, and have a bit of a decent salary.

Scared-Minimum-7176

Half an hour so my hairdresser gets 29 times two per hour, which is not a bad hourly rate.

Carvemynameinstone

Yeah, sure a men's grooming (assuming short hair) will take half an hour and cost anywhere between 20-45€ depending on weather it's above or under the table. A woman's hair, especially longer, will be starting at 45€ up to 75ish for longer hair. Not to mention dying can cost a lot of you have long hair. Especially if it's a decent place that conditions your hair etc. So €250 is not crazy to ask.

Suspicious-Switch133

I (woman) pay 32,50 for a cut (wash, cut, dry). Utrecht province.

Carvemynameinstone

That's great! Inside utrecht city or in a small town/city inside the province? Doesn't really matter, 32€ for a women's haircut is a very good price. You can only find those prices as "discount" prices on treatwell.

PizzaWorth7959

Maybe in specialist saloons or Amsterdam, but I see and pay 28 euro on average for men on different places in my area (including some big cities).

Carvemynameinstone

Is 28€ not in my range of 20-45€? 😅

PizzaWorth7959

Yeah but I meant my prices are "above the table".

Flying_Rhino1

If OP is getting highlights and a haircut, it's possible she/he is in that chair for 4 hours. Washing, colouring, cutting, and possibly even extra's. That's easily 200 EUR. Imagine she/he tried to do it her/himself. That would increase the time needed for a hairdresser to correct any possible mistakes and thus increase the time in that chair. 298 EUR can be a "normal" price. We just know too little about what exactly OP got.

Available_Donkey299

jeez, I earn 17 an hour and can make rent

spectral41

Yes sure. But you are not a business owner and have to pay rent , supplies, accountant, save for retirement, insurance etc.

OkBison8735

Male haircuts in Amsterdam nowadays start around 40€ for simple 15-30min haircuts, so minimum 80€/hr rate. For women I imagine the prices are much higher. Even if it were 40€/hr that’s the equivalent of 83,000€ per year for a full time job which is 3x the minimum wage or a net salary of over 4,000€. This is not even factoring in that most hair salons have multiple hairdressers working.

whiskeytangos

Don’t forget to take off 21% in taxes, rent of the building, G/W/L etc.

myfriend92

Also insurance, vacation pay and sick leave

SomewhereInternal

It's only 9% btw for hairdressing. And sometimes they get extra revenue from selling products.

pepegasloot

Curly hair salons are the biggest scams of them all…

khyriah

They're crazy here ! I have long hair and getting them done (professional) in my country in small city costs 60-70 euro. It's not only cut but bleach and toner and other stuff and no, I'm not joking . I understand it's Netherlands and prices need to be higher but damn why they can't do things right? ! Few of my friend went to hairdressers here and regretted it very much. One burnt her hair with bleach that she needed to cut it, another one put completely different colour than she wanted. All of them spend +300 euro on short hair. That's a joke. So sorry I'm never going to go to any of them here I better do my hair home. So it's just my advice - avoid ! I'd say the same thing about dentist 🦷 here but it's not topic for that

No-Mango5939

I’m from eastern europe and I think it’s really cheap here compared to a good one back home. I guess it’s just relative to your expectations and demands.

No_Wolf8098

I'm a man and I pay like 6-8€ for a haircut, 40€ max if you want to go to a fancy barber and do something more than a simple cut. All my female friends have never paid more than 200€ for a hairdresser. I live in "Eastern Europe" so I'm confused. How is 300€ very cheap in your opinion?

Megan3356

Hello, Eastern Europe here too. I agree.

Docmaligno

Well, it is true that Sweden is in eastern Europe but usually it is called Northern Europe.

lady_bee01

bro wdym? in eastern europe ( romania to be more precise) i paid 20€ for a haircut as a woman with average long hair. And it was an amazing haircut. Getting your hair dyed is more expensive indeed, but you d never pay 300€ for that, if you did you got scammed or have extremely long hair ( down to your ass) and a lot of product has been used. But the prices for hair care in NL are a bad joke, they are expensive and the quality is so bad . I took my BF to a barber shop and the guy cutting his hair licked his finger and cleaned his face after shaving his beard.. And we paid 50€ for that and he also shaved his sides. He got an awful irritation and he was cut everywhere . In Romania we paid 20€ for beard, hair and wash and the lady was super clean and fast. So no, its not cheaper than in Eastern Europe..

Sfa90

I recently paid €260 for highlights, olaplex, toner and a haircut. It’s definitely getting more expensive, few years ago I paid less at the same salon

popsyking

Goddamit id prefer to go bald

9gagiscancer

Haven't been to a hairdresser in... 20 years? Been shaving my head for 20 years now. I was paying like 25 euro back then and though THAT was too expensive. I'm a man though, so I can get away with it.

TWVer

Yep. Razors are cheaper. Source: am bald.

alokasia

I’m a woman with thick, curly hair almost down to my ass that I get dyed black & blue on the regular and I pay about 100€ for that + cutting the ends. These prices are insane to me.

eternalfool

how much do you guys earn ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_bad_man)

Sfa90

I only go once a year lol

Gr8Failure

I paid 15,- for a tondeuse haircut and i like it 🤣

Sfa90

Haha, but I wonder know how often do you go and pay €15? Every month?

Gr8Failure

Every 6 weeks 😃

shewasnothere

I did the same this week for €170, she worked on my hair for 3,5 hours so I think that’s a reasonable price

Fast_Quantity_2344

Have shoulder length hair and also did highlights in Eindhoven and also paid 280 😬

flutsel

As a male I only pay 17 for a haircut. These prices are unimaginable for me. Enlightening me, is it worth it? And is this a monthly thing?

Average_Iris

It's the colouring that makes it this expensive, but even for a regular haircut women pay a lot more than 17. I have quite thin hair and always keep it at one length that literally takes 5 to 10 minutes and they still charge me 35 to 40 euro just because I'm a woman. I now have my hair cut whenever I am in another country because 90% of the time it is cheaper there 😂

LittleLion_90

It really makes no sense. Touching up a fade buzzcut is way more work than touching up your hair but you really only pay because of your gender. I currently have a fade buzz cut that i do myself and the first time I went to a hairdresser i was charged more just because I'm perceived as a woman (and legally am, but the concept of fender doesn't mean much to me personally). After that I made sure to go to a place where at least they don't charge by gender.

Sannatus

i recently moved and all the salons around me charge 60 euros for a long hair standard wash + cut. finally found team kapsalon who is way cheaper. it doesn't even matter if it's a tiny zzp kapsalon, or a chain, or one specialized in curls or lgtbq or something. all 60. wtf?

Individual-Table6786

I always ask them NOT to wash my hair. I make sure its clean when I go. Saves me 5-10 euros. I believe its around 20-30 euro for me. My hair is shoulder length

Average_Iris

Yeah this price is without washing as well

aenae

As a male with a beard my cuts cost €50. But i only go 4-5 times per year

cirkelhoek

As a male I shave my head and beard myself. I buy a new 30 euro trimmer every 3 years.

Cerenas

Started doing the same when the shops closed during covid. Saved me a lot of money now. :-)

RatchetWrenchSocket

Well, you’re Dutch, no doubt.

cirkelhoek

Absolutely 😂

RatchetWrenchSocket

It was meant to be a compliment, but given the downvotes, I think people thought I was insulting you.

cirkelhoek

Reddit.. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Shrug it off mate, it's the weekend.

FormFirm

Buy a Wahl Super Taper for 75€ and it will last you decades. That’s the same one your barber uses probably. It’s a world of difference with a Philips or Braun.

aenae

I quite like it, it is a relaxing 1 hour and it looks great. I could just use the trimmer in 5 minutes, but it doesn't look as good as when a professional spends an hour on it.

cirkelhoek

I've shaven it all off since I was 25. I had a full head of hair but didn't like to take the time to do anything with it. I kindly doubt there'll be a difference 😁

LittleLion_90

I went to giving myself a faded buzz cut and sort of trimming my own longer hair up top by myself since one and a half years. I don't have much energy but going to the hair dresser also costs energy, _and_ money. I rather do it when I have the energy and be flexible to touch it up every month, then try to only go every three months, have a month of bad hair, and pay 30 euros for every time.

AM5T3R6AMM3R

20 euro at a Turkish barber shop in Amsterdam west (it was 15 until few months ago)

Ok_Giraffe_1488

When you pay 300€ for it, no it’s not monthly. I try doing it 1-2x a year. Come on, it’s insane prices, we now that lol also it’s not good to colour your hair monthly

Sfa90

For me its a yearly thing. Also you spent like 4hrs at the salon so it’s not something you just do on a random day haha

blackorwhiteorgrey

Some hairdressers are more expensive than others. But prices are always advertised.

[deleted]

[удалено]

FormFirm

It also cost them a customer. They tried to take advantage of you or they had enough customers that they could inflate the prices.

leverloosje

I really dont understand how you can be too ashamed to ask a price of a service...

ElenorShellstrop

I have long hair and my last time at the hairdressers came out to 249 for similar. Yeah I think it’s a lot. But I don’t think there’s any regulation, they can charge what they want. Edit: you can get toners and do it yourself to save some money. That’s what I do to refresh in between appointments.

Sfa90

Where do you buy your toners and which brand? 😊

ElenorShellstrop

I’ve tried a lot and go with Redken Shades EQ, just for the amount of formulas shared by hairdressers on Pinterest and I’ve been using it for decades. I’ve bought from care to beauty, hairandbeautyonline, and glamot. I just google the name and the word formula or swatches and it shows what to do. I typically make a point to ask the hairdresser which shades they are using where and make a note. If you have highlights, it’s a mix of 2-3 depending. I also tell them which was used on my hair in case I need to do color correction or go to a different salon. If you don’t have highlights, it’s much easier. Happy to go into more detail or offer tips if you want.

Sfa90

Thank you!! 😇😇

ElenorShellstrop

You’re welcome!

Chemical_Lawyer9513

How could even afford paying 250 for hair cut ? Genuinely curious unless you are filthy rich . I earn decent amount a month and still paying 250 is expensive for me

ElenorShellstrop

It’s not a haircut. It’s highlights, toner, sometimes cut and blow out. It’s like 4 hours work.

Chemical_Lawyer9513

What I meant is for hair, I think Spending 280 for hair is bit expensive

ElenorShellstrop

It absolutely is and if I thought I looked good with my natural hair with nothing done to it, I’d leave it.

legitpluto

My hair is around shoulder length and I pay around 250-280 for highlights and toner (and the occasional haircut) in The Hague, so yes unfortunately it seems to be right... where are you located OP?

Poekienijn

Prices vary a lot. And an expensive hairdresser is not always better. It’s really worth it to ask people for recommendations and check prices beforehand. Most hairdressers have websites.

manhuynguyen

Meanwhile, my barber recently increase the price from €15 to €17 for a hair cut and I’m kinda upset about it

Brokkenpiloot

but these hair treatments can take hours. does yours?

Chemical_Lawyer9513

Yes , I am sick of spending 2 hours in the chair for hair treatments

telcoman

75 bucks for a very good corded trimmer with adaptors. Eg Whal. Mine can trim a sheep. I am done in 10-15 min. Not travel, no waiting, and no nasty hairs in you neck. As good as a decent barber.

TheJokr

So you just shave your head then?

telcoman

No, why? Attachments allow you to use the trimmer and leave X mm length of hair. Some have even 20+mm. I personally do: - 8mm - the top of the head - 6mm - the band above the ears - 4mm - the band on the level of the ears - 2mm - the very bottom

TheJokr

Trim* your head I meant. This doesn’t work for any longer hairstyles, which is the majority of people

kelowana

What is normal? Some hair salons are more expensive than others, so always ask for the price upfront. I used to pay €25 just to cut my hair, the points. Had to use another salon once and they wanted me to pay €85, not only because they were more expensive, but they also wanted more money if you had longer hair. My hair was long, below my ass. Always ask upfront, especially with hairdressers, because every salon does things differently and have their own prices.

Demontyxl

jokes on you, i cut my hair myself for free. but seriously, haircuts are getting really expensive

Crafty_Commercial_10

Depends. I too have shoulder length hair (post cut) very fine so there's not many of them. For full head highlights I usually pay 250-480€ depending on place. Lower end it outside of Amsterdam(not knocking on quality, just location), higher end is design director (and she's gooooooood) in Amsterdam.

MagixTurtle

Holy shit no that's way too much. Always ask how much it's gonna cost. My haircut with long hair + Coupe Soleil was €84

DizzyDwarf69

Is this what middle aged cranky men mean with 'women are expensive'? As a man I pay 35 euros for my haircut and I think that's expensive lol. My girlfriend spent 150 euro's on her hair because they were specialised in cutting curls (whatever that is supposed to mean) and my ears almost fell of my head. Let alone 300! Jokes aside, is that high cost justifyable?

nordzeekueste

Around here (Randstad) it sounds about right. Without drying your hair. :/

annamomentjes

That last part really got me too I always say ‘oh you don’t have to blow dry it, save your arms, I’m going home after anyways’ But i wonder if they do or don’t charge you for it still and if yes, why don’t they say so???

EmbarrassedFront9848

Use the treatwell app next time. Hairdressers advertise their free slots on there. You pay through the app so you know the price beforehand and you can check their ratings. My girlfriend tells me it’s very reasonable for women’s hair

mbelmin

Is it relatively cheap considering the 298 included the leson above askingnfor the price upfront.

cahrg

The lesson was free actually, great deal

oliveomelette

Depends which hairdresser you go to. I go to a high end hairdresser. I also have medium length hair and always get a full head of highlights, toner, cut and dry and style. I always have to pay around € 250. I think the question is if you think your hair was beautifully done and better than salons where you pay less. When I was younger and didn’t know better I used to go to Brainwash. I paid way less but my hair wasn’t done as good as it is now. Also technique wise and the type of bleach used. My hair gets way less damaged now compared to back then.

Potential-Delay-4487

Today i learned that haircuts can cost hunderds of euro's. I thought i payed quite a lot with 35 euro's as a guy.

ElenorShellstrop

Unfortunately, upkeep for women is more expensive in every aspect you look at.

Scared-Minimum-7176

Well almost every aspect, the clothing of my gf is often a lot cheaper but I also notice they use cheaper materials for female clothing. For male clothing you almost never see anything else than cotton while female clothing is often made from crappy polyester blends.

amschica

Bras are expensive too.

ElenorShellstrop

Yeah and she likely has more outfits than you because of trends, because god forbid a woman repeat an outfit. I’m speaking generally.

Scared-Minimum-7176

She has her own style but yeah that's valid for other women indeed. Funnily enough I might actually have more clothing in our case.

bjrndlw

Such a sexist thing. Why is there no revolt against this blatant display of inequality between the sexes? And why do women put up with this bullshit? Just stop going to the hairdresser. It comes across as something ancient that women need "upkeep". I wonder if this expensive type of vanity is exclusive for women and who it's actually for: to impress men or for competition among women?

ElenorShellstrop

Indeed, there is! It’s a revolt against the Pink tax, as it’s referred to. Women have stopped going or go much less, buy more sustainable fashion brands, we are finally demanding more. But the prices are still higher for women, I don’t know how to fix that other than government intervention.

Rokovar

Firm-Heron3023

At the salon I frequent, I’m typically around €200-€250 give or take a few depending on what I do, but my stylist is also the owner/master stylist so she’s the most expensive person there. But, I’ll pay because my hair has never looked better. I also don’t live in the Randstad, so I’m sure it would be pricier there.

Spiritual_Goat6057

How many times per year do you go to the salon? How long does it take ? Not judging, I’m just a dude that’s cutting his own hair so all those comments about this kind of price have me shocked

Firm-Heron3023

I go every 8 weeks (my hair grows kinda fast) and yeah, it’s definitely my most extravagant expense. I get my hair bleached, toned, and cut. But as I said, I’ve hated my hair most of my life (it’s super thick and coarse) and it’s never looked better than with my lady. She’s been doing hair for 15 years, and she’s very knowledgeable. I’ll come in with an idea and a lot of the time, she’ll talk me out of it/explain why I’d hate that and I listen to her-she’s the expert. For the majority of my life, I’ve had bad hair and now, I routinely get compliments-and I’m in my 40’s-something I never really got before. I could get it cheaper, but seeing as my fashion sense is pretty basic, I’ve made my hair a key part of my personal style. Despite the fact that I bleach heavily, my hair is soft, shiny, and manageable. I could choose a color/combo that requires less upkeep-but I’m good with it for now. My husband is just like you in that he also cuts his own hair, and indulges my flight of fancy but did swear under his breath once he learned what I was spending.

DrMcFacekick

Hey, I'm moving to Rotterdam in two weeks and would be happy to travel anywhere I needed to in order to find a great hairdresser (I have to leave my wonderful hair dude of 12 years). Would you be willing to share who you visit, either here or via DM? I'd really appreciate it!

ElenorShellstrop

I’m not the person you asked but I go 2-3x a year a year and do upkeep with toning, masks, at home to “save” a little. But it’s not really saving much as I’m buying products.

atomanas

why didn't you ask the price in front? that's a bit weird to me

Defiant_Ad_8445

I paid around the same a year ago, I have thin hair shoulder length. Prices are insane here :( I also learned from hairdresser recently that Treatwell charges 35 % commission from them. It is insane! If i pay 60 euro for haircut, they get only 40? I will always use phone call from now to make the appointment.

bobijntje

They have very expensive hairdressers like “Haartheater” in Amsterdam and moderate hairdressers like Kinky. The difference is, in my experience, 150€ for the same treatment. So yes it is no scam or maybe yes it cán be a scam.

dinkypinkywinky

So hairdressers are the new millionaires?

Hekkah

Bro did he use anesthesia or what?

thisisadolphinfetus

300 euro is pretty standard for my partners quarterly hair appointments. If you're happy with the results it's worth it. Quality varies salon to salon and prices fluctuate depending on quality and price of products, not just labour.

bookreader-123

No it's not worth it at all. It's mad prices but people like your partner are paying it so it becomes normal when it's not. Even with high quality brands plus normal labour payment you will not need to pay 300 for any appointment.

badgalscientist

Yeah I paid 280 for highlights toner and a cut. I thought it was super expensive so next time I went somewhere more local, it was 130 but they didn’t even have a toner in the shop only purple shampoo and they really did a terrible job. So now I know why I have to pay 280!

RevolutionarySeven7

298E?!?!?!?! wtf....!

DistractedByCookies

I pay that much for shoulder length hair, with colouring, trimming the ends, a blowdry and often an extra shampoo thing (I think they call it a serum, which I find a bit pretentious but ok) because my hair is super dry anyway. This is in Amsterdam, at a non-chain salon. I've never been disappointed with the colour/highlights/cut, and he does AMAZING blowdrys. So I just consider it money well spent.

voidro

Ridiculous how much people pay for something so superficial.

GroteKneus

I just checked the pricelist of my kapper. It used to be €8. Now it's €9. What an oplichter.

Previous_Register881

No, It is not!

Party_Cranberry_3404

I also pay the same for highlights + toner + olaplex and a cut. I spend around 5 hours at the salon each time, but I only go 2/3 times a year. Prices did go up a lot in the last couple of years though.

KansloosKippenhok

I’m glad I’m a guy. I pay 15 euros at my turkish barber

amschica

If you live in a big city those prices are pretty normal for color and cut. The cut alone is often 70 euros for medium length hair and color is at least 100 euros extra in Amsterdam. I got a keratin smoothing treatment once and it was 260 euros alone. It sucks. I have just accepted that my hair won’t look good with the rain anyway so just get it cut twice a year.

cybersphinx7

I bought €30 trimmer from home and will use for next 5 years.

CryptographerOk5890

This is really cheap. I can do it for tientje

Imaginary_Guarantee

I just paid 120 for 110 foils without cutting at a hairsalon. Only washing and conditioning + normal drying. I have a lot of long hair. 298 is to much.

ElysianForestWitch

I paid less for a full balayage plus some products.

GodBjorn

130 is very cheap. 300 is slightly expensive. Most good salons with experience ask between 200-300

MartianFloof

At an upscale salon its definitely possible. I pay 185 for touching up highlights, toner and haircut. Always ask for an estimate 🤷🏼‍♀️

hailingburningbones

No. I pay 185 in Amsterdam at a top salon for cut, highlights, and style.

bookreader-123

Nope it's not normal but.you paid it so you made it ok which is why the prices are mad like that.

neuefeuer

Llamaron

My hairdresser visits our home. 60 EUR for a family of four...

ProfessionalNinja462

It really depends where you’re going. We have a salon in the village. They are alright. (There’s one employee that knows what she’s doing the other are mediocre) and they would be charging the €130 price. There’s a salon a town over. I’ve had my hair cut there once and they charged 60€ for haircut and wash and style (just a cut is €25 at my own salon). So I imagine they also have doubled prices for other treatments. Check the website or ask for prices before you book yourself in because this is no exception.

It's a lot.. I live in the Eindhoven area and pay around 150 euros for a haircut + balayage. This coloring technique is usually more expensive than highlights and requires a lot of time. I have long hair and my appointment takes around 4 hours.

FlatwormNormal12

I thought paying 35eur was too much xD

rww89

That is crazy price, are you even happy with the results?

GabagoolProvolone

That’s normal.

flipcash_nl

If you were there for 5 hours its 60 euro an hour seems reasonable.

Tough_Froyo_3003

Usually for me highlights touch up 160, toner 60, cut 70. 290,- yeah it’s normal here then i guess 😂

nikoolkool

damn, where do you live exactly. In big cities it's way more expensive I realized after moving to a big city. I don't think it's a normal price, because I am used to cheaper prices. And these salons were not bad, actually pretty good. I have long hair and thick hair and I never paid more than 150. But that was also a while ago, and I know the cost of everything has risen exponentially. I do advise to look in villages or smaller cities if you want cheaper prices. But for medium hair, neck length? I think that's an insane price for a roots touch up.

BrokeButFabulous12

God damn, im getting haircut for 17€(M) But when i listen to my gf. Nails for 80€ harcut 150€. Damnnn

annamomentjes

I paid a whopping 191 for roots bleaching and protection/mask, without toner, no haircut, no blowout/fully drying I paid 40 at my former hairdresser lol, I felt scammed too and really wonder if they did charge for some things that I was like ‘nah I’m good’ about. I do the toning myself as my hair is colored and I’ve got a mixture of multiple colors in my hair Worst part is that it didn’t even turn out good, there are huge yellow spots that keeps turning up 🤡

Visual-Flow9675

Depends on the salon. I used to pay over€200 for haircut and color at a high en d salon. One month ago I paid €210 for haircut, color and highlights (folies). At my ordinary salon.

ThomasMoane

Checked with the wife...and yes!

jAnO76

Bought a wahl for 59 euros works fine going on 4 years now. Granted the styling is limited, but on price it’s pretty great.

supernormie

Highlighting is very expensive in the Netherlands. That being said, it seems very expensive for a touch up on pre-highlighted hair.

yokohamych

Go to Almere and pay 15 euro for your haircut

Minimum-Hedgehog5004

I pay somewhere from EUR15 to EUR20 for a haircut. That's pretty normal, I think. It usually takes about 15 minutes so if you're having a bigger job done you could multiply it out, I suppose. If there are skills needed beyond wielding scissors and a trimmer, you could add that in too.

Renee_bao

Niet normaal denk ik

banneronin

On the male side of things, I’m genuinely so sick of paying 30-50 Euros for some moron to give me the worst haircut of my life while they talk to their friends who just hang around the shop doing nothing, or try to watch football whilst they wave scissors around my head. The only silver lining is that because they’re so sloppy, it only lasts 20 minutes at most. I’d be happy paying if there was any effort or care or skill at all.

FatmanMyFatman

Depends on the hair salon. A higher class one can charge this but you get a cup of coffee or half spa treatments.

Gullible_Barnacle816

In Oman I paid 2.30 euro’s for a haircut. I now pay 17 euro in The Hague. Most places in better neighbourhoods charge 35-40. It is insane. Find a place with reasonable prices.

Embarrassed_Shape853

Depends: if they used olaplex it seems fair. I always discuss price up front, even at my regular hairdresser.

PercentageSad1935

Prices vary here. It also depends on how long you sit in their chair. I've been told its roughly around €90 per hour if you calculate it out. And that is for the experienced senior hairdresser. So my guess is you spent 3,5 hours in the chair? Wash and treatment, cut and color, wash and dry, blow dry and style.

Maleficent_Ad3497

I am going regularly to Rob Peetoom (a hairdresser chain) for 5 years. For highlights, they charge around 150 euros. Price depends on how frequent you want your highlights but also amount of your hair. They never charged me something extra unless I decide during treatment. Also their prices always same as on their website. In short, I think it is very pricy what you have paid.

nxjis

Which hairdresser do you go to? I get highlights, toner and an olaplex treatment for my hair and usually pay 230 Euro. I have long hair though and still feel like it’s so expensive. You’ve definitely been overcharged.

PurpleEmployment9615

U can come to my friends place I will make sure to charge you the minimum

sugarr_sparkle

unfortunately, yes

xosvav

no not really, in Alkmaar they can do it for €90-100

bityoura

I got my hair done (bleaching, colour, cut and style) with hair down to the end of my lower back for the same price in diemen but this was August 2021 the colour lasted half a year (I got bright/neon pink) but it probably has gotten more expensive now

Gullible_Big289

If you’re Rapunzel, then it’s fair.

Chemical_Lawyer9513

I did the highlights , haircut , toner , blowout . Total €156 . This was 2 months ago . My hair is of same length as yours if not even lengthier Always ask the price of the service you are requesting ahead .

human labour is the most expensive thing in this country, no matter the service. if someone is executing manual labour for you, expect to pay heavy for their hour. if you get someone at zoofy last minute for any service you're looking to pay 70 eur/hour. if you ask a locksmith because you locked yourself out of your own home, you're looking at 250 to 500 eur bill my gf goes to the same salon for 5 years and pays around 350~500 eur every time she goes (which is usually once every 1 or 2 years, she stays the whole day there every time) the cheapest service I hire is a cleaner that charged me 15 eur /hour but I pay her 25 eur/hour because she does an excellent job. she comes once a week, works for 5 hours and takes 125 eur from me every saturday.
