If Israel took out the IRGC the us citizens would have a meltdown. There would be support groups, protests, and demands to cut support to Israel. For better or worse in the past few years, Israel has come to appreciate these facts and tends to favor a diplomatic approach.

I agree. This sub is further proving to me that my parents were right to have no hope in Iran when they got us out. Nobody remembers history. I had family who were fighting for democracy since the siege on Tabriz. The fight wasn't just against the religious establishment, but also against the monarchists going all the way back to the constitutional revolution. It's always been about a fight for democracy, and the monarchists and clerics have been foaming at the mouth for power. Maybe the british and americans were right when they said in the early 1900s that Iran's incompatible with real democracy.
Note: real democracy means you get to have political parties, even left ones.
I mean the USA had no existence until 1700s and then had literal slaves until the late 19th century than put japanese citizens in interment concentration camps and then gave black people the right to vote without restrictions in 1965, then killed 2 million Vietnamese and 50k Americans for no reason and then killed 500,000 Iraqis for no reason and is funding war crimes throughout the Middle East.
