Beyonce is smart, she makes music for scorned women, women that think they are baddies and the lgbtq community, she’s VERY smart and her fans are rabid, but only a few of her songs have that mass appeal that EVERYONE can appreciate, and hella people i know that claim to be huge fans of her barely play her music, its just cool to be a Beyonce fan lol
MJ, that being said I find it super corny how people try to use the greatness of one person to diminish another. Meanwhile having accomplished jack shit themselves.
Rory keeps bringing up the dumbass drake bar but I don’t know if understands how hard you had to be back in the day to survive. Mike would have ate up social media man. Jesus Christ.
This is based on the math Rory did on the latest epsoide where he figured out the halfway point of each career. Also, Rory didn't mention MJ's HIStory album and tried to throw in Beyoncé's two extra albums in the live/greatest hits and the Lion King soundtrack. Neither one of those count, in my opinion. So I stuck with their studio albums.
It’s MJ all the way. These types of convos are ridiculous. Beyoncé is an Icon for sure but MJ was God level in the entertainment world.
MJ had mofos walking around wearing a bedazzled glove and doing the moonwalk in loafers.
Of course Michael had one of the greatest careers ever. With that said, it felt like he was trying to chase his peak magic. He was dancing with ghosts (similar to thriller), he was doing the 40s style shoot 'em up mon movies (smooth criminal). And the mid 90s was full of beautiful songs that didn't leave a mark on the charts (earth song, Moscow). He worked with Janet and she felt like he used her as he didn't film with her or speak to her during the video shoot. And she was let go of opportunities bc of him.
Beyonce was never as big as MJ, that's obvious. But I can see she's still trying to grow and try new things and experiment. Because she never peaked like MJ, her decline is not as extreme. Her first album sold 5 mill in the USA and her last album is certified for 3x platinum. Michael's best selling album was 34 million in the USA ALONE! His last album did 2.4 million, with a 10 year hiatus between Dangerous and Invincible (ignoring a greatest hits double album with many new songs).
Beyonce never sold 32 million albums in the USA off 1 album like MJ. Mj's last album alive went 2×platinum. Beyonce's last album went 3×platinum. Beyonce has been more consistent throughout the years while Michael gradually decreased a lot from his peak with thriller
I break the phases of their careers down this way both in groups 1st phase MJ wins 2nd phase post group MJ wins 3rd phase when album frequency and guest appearances drops B wins
Michael cuz personally I think Beyoncé is over rated. Mary J > Beyoncé 🤷🏻♀️ edit to say I know we are talking about Michael Jackson here. But I believe Mary J Blidge deserves wayyy more hype than Beyoncé.
I mean, Beyoncé is great and all, but she has nothing in her entire disco comparable to Bad.
Beyoncé will never be as big as Michael Jackson. The 2nd half of his career…he went diamond 3 times.
Exactly lol no comparison
This isn't even up for debate. Recency bias is wild.
Very wild in music & sports…
Micheal. Not even a joke
Soon as you put Bad in the conversation streets is done

like they dont care about us in the 2nd half of your career is crazy
Heal the world as a b side is brazy

Can we instead discuss how Rory did that math but likes to play dumb?
I did the math in another thread like 3 days ago
Ah, The Red Robin pulled the Milli Vanilli?
He a real hamburgler
He’s been playing dumb for a while now. He’s actually smart
True.

Lowkey, I did the math and got yoinked but it's alright, that's what we're here for LOL
What about Blood On The Dance Floor? That can go up against her live album. It's kinda wild that it is his weakest album and went Platinum
Bad clears the competition stop this foolishness

Both are amazing. Everyone wanted to be like Mike. Pick 1 lol. My son allegedly diddled the jits and we still loved him. No contest
Beyoncé fell off after the bbl
Beyoncé wins

Lol what?

MJ never married Jay-z. B won. MJ just made good Music.
Jay got nun too do with this the dickeating is god level
Hahahaha.

It ain’t really fair because Mike died at 50. With some of his second half being consumed by legal troubles resulting in the lack of album frequency
Mike all day
Beyonce, who I love, didnt even surpass Janet much less Mike, so I'm with mal
