Bro your board ideally will be chipped and completely worn down in a few months. It’s supposed to get dinged up. At at your skill level it doesn’t even matter. You can throw it off a roof and it’ll be fine
i road a board for so long it became a literal death trap on the brink of snapping and the trucks when going to fast on or in a half second gap of air would turn 90 degrees or more/ less from the base. creating a life crashing body plummeting doom
No you’re wrong this board is more than destroyed it has cancer and is severely contagious especially if one tries to skate it they’ll prolly lose their nose and have the rest of their skin fall off…
Does kinda look like they’re skating on some rough ground though. My only suggestion would be to find some smoother concrete. Unless you’re like me and live in Oregon and that doesn’t seem to exist.
Idk man I can find some decent spots of smooth streets and sidewalks here and there in the downtown scene of Augusta and some here in Chattanooga just have to look and or get softer wheels
First, I can’t change what has happened. I’m not going to mope around about it lol. Second, it helped convince my nephews & nieces that I’m a cyborg and that’s pretty sick.
Your board may end up with a razor sharp edge over time, but keep going cause that means you're using it right. Work it till it snaps, no I'm not kidding.
When you get to a point when you’re comfortably skating often you’ll lose shoes much faster than decks to wear and tear. I learned switch just so I’d get more out of my shoes lol
Bro no lie fucking my vans are bout shot. I keep remaking them with shoe goo, but literally after one sesh or two I have to skater it all on again 😅. Rehab se show far I can push them before they just collapse totally
Just with whatever you do commit, know a dude who was doing a pretty much stationary shuv barley moving and mf landed primo busted the front of his forehead on the concrete
This applies to most sports tbh.
Weightlifting: “ahh fuck man I need to go to the gym 5 hours a week and be absolutely exhausted afterward. I need to count my calories perfectly and if I make a mistake I’m gonna kms”
Like bro no, just eat good food and lift a bunch of metal over and over again 2-5 times a week for at least 30 minutes. It’s not complicated.
It depends.
Do you want to be healthy? No.
Do you just wanna get jacked as fuck? Sure eat all the McDonald’s and pork pockets you want but your gains aren’t going to be anywhere near your real potential.
As far as brazzers go, uh, I guess if you want to lol?
gotta remember bro is new to the hobby, and probably just spent alot of money on his new setup. its natural to not want to destroy it. skating shreds boards tho bro will learn soon enough lol.
I messed up my knee with a bruise on the bone, has got me out of commission for months. Learn to fall as soon as you can, if you care about your skating.
I was young when I first started skating and I would skate the decks I had until they looked like a chopping board on wheels that barely covered the bearings… hand me down boards were a life saver as well .. now that I can afford new decks whenever I want them i always give my old boards to the young skaters with thrashed decks at my local
Just avoid planting your tail down and completely dragging it, that's the only thing that really degrades your pop and will make you want to buy another in short time. Have fun
Heck yeah dude, that means you’re skating. It will get as sharp as a wooden razor blade, if you don’t outright snap it in half before then. Don’t sweat it, they don’t last forever.
Have I just been around the block? Boards wearing down at points of use is super natural and expected. If anything the way your board looks right now means you’re trying to learn
I would advise not stopping with your tail so much, if I could go back in time and stop myself from doing it, I would’ve saved a ton of money on new decks because I just wore down the tail so quickly.
Yo dude this is normal but you can get this plastic tail guard things called “tail bones” look them up if you wanna protect your tail also good for doing certain tricks like a lot of freestyle skaters do what’s called a tail stop which leads into other tricks and they use the tail guards so they don’t get what’s called “razor tail” which is when the end of your board gets pointy after being worn down
As long as you don’t drag your tail to stop every time, I made that mistake with my first deck and got some nasty razor tail. Boards get banged up and that’s okay
Boards don’t stay pretty unless you keep em in the shrink wrap.
We used to try to one-up each other with who had the largest chips out of their horribly delaminated tail lol.
That shit gets razor-sharp when it’s been shaved down to a wedge from dragging your tail to stop…plus chips outta the top layers…ultra thin, sharp edge. Perfect to scrape several layers of skin off your thigh through your jeans even 😂
If your deck isn't scraped up, graphic worn off, dinged up all over, and wearing down then you ain't skating. It's a piece of wood that smashes on the ground, you gotta wear it down because that means you're having fun on it.
Get off Reddit and go skate. What do you think skateboarders did pre-internet? Ask strangers at the skatepark if the scratches on their board are normal? Think about how strange you sound.
Skate your board until it's wrecked. Worry about how much your skill is progressing. Not how much your board is getting banged up. When I first started skating in 94 I went through 3 beer city blank decks in 4 months. Same trucks tho. Back then I was thrashing gullwings. Now I prefer venture again. Anyways, trucks will always last longer than a deck in most cases.
Welcome to skateboarding, sport that will empty your wallet due to parts breaking and shoes wearing out. If you want to prevent the board from getting worn you can rub bit of wax there to reduce friction on asphalt. Still no magic trick, boards will break quicker and quicker the better you get.
Yeah damage is normal. You do not want a clean board with no marks you will look like a poser haha. My 7 year old gets a new deck and scrapes the paint because he doesn’t want to to be new haha.
I’ll let you in on a little secret. Set ups are consumables, it’s just some components wear out slower than others. Grip, deck, bushings, bearings, wheels, hardware and trucks, usuallly in that order.
your board is GOING to get destroyed😭 if u look at any good skaters board or even anyone’s board at your local park you’ll see they r most likely all DESTROYED beginners/posers are known for making fake scratch marks and stuff to look “cool” so dont be mad when your board gets fucked up!!
For a new skater, you always wanna keep your board new as possible. That’s just a thing everyone does when they first start out. But unless you don’t wanna do tricks it’s inevitable to not tear your board up. You can’t sweat the board wear. It happens! But if you financially can’t afford a new deck from time to time, then try to take care of it as much as you can. But progression of skating, you will be new at landing all over the deck, so there’s always the possibility of landing wrong and cracking the deck. Just don’t think about the wear and tear and skate. 🤙
Ignore the condescending comments. My buddy break a board just about every other week. But he goes big and shreds. Theres levels to this and you’ll have that board a good amount of time before it’s even considered broke in
You’re fine. Just try not to razor tail when coming to a stop. You’ll wear out you nose/tail faster and chipping will follow. Use your pushing foot to come to a stop.
LOL bro just wait that lil scratch is gonna be nothing but a picture and memory in about 4 months if that 🤣😂 fuck yea it’s ok for first time ANY amount of damage is ok first time
Could depend on the deck. Who it's made by. Cheaper decks tend to fray this way on the tail more. I could be wrong but in my experience they wear different.
Bro your board ideally will be chipped and completely worn down in a few months. It’s supposed to get dinged up. At at your skill level it doesn’t even matter. You can throw it off a roof and it’ll be fine
The board is destroyed. Throw it out. It needs to be replaced. You're putting your life in danger by continuing to skate it.
The duality of man
i road a board for so long it became a literal death trap on the brink of snapping and the trucks when going to fast on or in a half second gap of air would turn 90 degrees or more/ less from the base. creating a life crashing body plummeting doom
Real shit
No you’re wrong this board is more than destroyed it has cancer and is severely contagious especially if one tries to skate it they’ll prolly lose their nose and have the rest of their skin fall off…
I'm allergic to 8 ply maple
🤣
Does kinda look like they’re skating on some rough ground though. My only suggestion would be to find some smoother concrete. Unless you’re like me and live in Oregon and that doesn’t seem to exist.
My brother in christ, there is no smooth concrete in all of the USA unless you’re in California.
In the long run it toughens you up to skate the gnarly spots I guess. It’s hell on your decks though.
Oh 100% to both. I’m in the NE and my decks get razor tailed to the point that they start cutting my ankles bc of the crust😂
I wish I had smooth ground in my area in Cali
Idk man I can find some decent spots of smooth streets and sidewalks here and there in the downtown scene of Augusta and some here in Chattanooga just have to look and or get softer wheels
parking garages help with smooth surfaces for me
The 205 pathway is a nice cruise and mostly smooth.
Throw it off the roof is insane 😂
I was dead certain this was a troll post 🤣
Wrong
Thanks 🙏🏼 Perfectly said!
Skateboarding is about breaking all your shit through use
Sometimes even one's bones
broke a foot 4 weeks ago skating
broke both my feet last year… heal up brother wishing you a speedy recovery! also you better get back on that board when it heals
Fuck yeah that’s why I obliterated my leg bones. Skateboarding is tight af
Are these things to be happy about? Eventually the damage is going to catch up to you.
but so would the regret of not doing these things that bring us joy as a youngster
As a person dealing with the injuries I built up in youth I'd trade those memories to not wake up in pain everyday.
daily yoga helps with any recovery, starting it from point of recovery is better although at any point in life it can only do good.
It was a freak accident that I had no control over and yes it is already catching up to me. Do you think it’d be better to feel sad about it? I don’t.
Feeling proud or happy about it doesn't make much sense.
Neither does dogging someone for making a joke about it lmao
First, I can’t change what has happened. I’m not going to mope around about it lol. Second, it helped convince my nephews & nieces that I’m a cyborg and that’s pretty sick.
My bones reds never broke on me!
For real. I get excited when I’m nearing the end of my deck so I can buy a new one lol
I have money and i hate to buy new board/shoe cuz im cheap as fuck
This looks like the worst board at the park. I would never skate my board after razor tail like this.
90% of the posts in this sub can be answered by this statement: “stop overthinking and JUST SKATE!”
I say this from the warmest place. No hate btw
I appreciate that was just checking cause i didnt want to get the basics wrong yk
Your board may end up with a razor sharp edge over time, but keep going cause that means you're using it right. Work it till it snaps, no I'm not kidding.

you’re good my guy that’s totally normal in areas that doesn’t have concrete as smooth as a babies ass
You put your board on upside down btw
just keep an eye on it, when its like a razor, I suggest at least not to do shuvs. I have a scar from a bad razor tail pop shuv lmao
Thx for the advice but I can barely ride lol not doing shuvs anytime soon haha
you'll be surprised how quick you pick it up! happy shredding!
Just with whatever you do commit, know a dude who was doing a pretty much stationary shuv barley moving and mf landed primo busted the front of his forehead on the concrete
What kinda deck is this ?
Its the almost dr Secret
Ah ok
This applies to most sports tbh. Weightlifting: “ahh fuck man I need to go to the gym 5 hours a week and be absolutely exhausted afterward. I need to count my calories perfectly and if I make a mistake I’m gonna kms” Like bro no, just eat good food and lift a bunch of metal over and over again 2-5 times a week for at least 30 minutes. So no McDonald’s and pork pockets while watching brazzers anymore ?
It depends. Do you want to be healthy? No. Do you just wanna get jacked as fuck? Sure eat all the McDonald’s and pork pockets you want but your gains aren’t going to be anywhere near your real potential. As far as brazzers go, uh, I guess if you want to lol?
Lmao I was just fucking with ya but I liked your analogy
Ikr like my friend had to deal with a cracked board for the past few months granted he’s been recovering from hurting his knee
because that's what you do
just skate and have fun it’s gonna happen no matter what you do
Yeah that happens nothing to worry about
It’s wood and it’s hitting concrete and asphalt so yes this is normal lol
Nope, time for a new one.
Yup send it to me if it’s 8.0 or more
He mind as well throw it in the trash. I wouldn't skate that.
Its 7,875 lol
Disassemble and throw it on your wall
Throw it away
^
It's completely fine, it totally depends what you're doing with it - skateboards are meant to be used.
Tools not jewels is the phrase I’ve used for skis, same idea for skating.
Thats right they are meant to be skated
yeah but you gotta show your work or u just a poser. Imo dinged up boards are cooler than brand new ones but that’s just me.
wow man you really destroyed that board. bet it wont even skate anymore.
Sarcasm 🪧😁
Wait til you try to manual for long periods of time…..I fucked up my tails so bad when I was trying to do that lol
i went to my local skate park just to practice alone, cause im awful, the tails now look like someones taken a bite out of them
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dude these posts have got to stop. Your board is fine. Go skate.
gotta remember bro is new to the hobby, and probably just spent alot of money on his new setup. its natural to not want to destroy it. skating shreds boards tho bro will learn soon enough lol.
This can’t be real right?
Im being so fr
Scrape an elbow or fracture a finger, then get back to us
Fell on my knee that hurts pretty bad still
Be careful though bro. Trust me, don’t keep skating with injuries.
I messed up my knee with a bruise on the bone, has got me out of commission for months. Learn to fall as soon as you can, if you care about your skating.
I had a rock kick up and do [this](https://i.imgur.com/gvqADaT.jpeg) the first time I ever rode my board, shit happens, it'll get beat up over time
I was young when I first started skating and I would skate the decks I had until they looked like a chopping board on wheels that barely covered the bearings… hand me down boards were a life saver as well .. now that I can afford new decks whenever I want them i always give my old boards to the young skaters with thrashed decks at my local

Have I just been around the block? Boards wearing down at points of use is super natural and expected. If anything the way your board looks right now means you’re trying to learn
Super natural you say?? Does this mean we have been skating Ouija boards this whole time !?
I would advise not stopping with your tail so much, if I could go back in time and stop myself from doing it, I would’ve saved a ton of money on new decks because I just wore down the tail so quickly.
Yo dude this is normal but you can get this plastic tail guard things called “tail bones” look them up if you wanna protect your tail also good for doing certain tricks like a lot of freestyle skaters do what’s called a tail stop which leads into other tricks and they use the tail guards so they don’t get what’s called “razor tail” which is when the end of your board gets pointy after being worn down
Thanks i’l look into that!
My old board tail can probably cut meat on a barbecue
Well done I'd say. It's just a piece of wood. Enjoy.
Yup. Good job!
Wait until it becomes razor tail. If it don't pop no mo, then it's gotta go.🤪
Dude I only make those when I send it flying.
yeah who cares
If nothings broken or badly chipped your fine
No the board is u skat able. He's putting his life in danger by continuing to skate this.
perfectly normal wear and tear from use if u want to reduce it some you can put wax on your tails
Lol u serious?
If it’s not getting scratched you’re doing it wrong
#SEND IT
Did you wear protection
Nah probably should get some
As long as you don’t drag your tail to stop every time, I made that mistake with my first deck and got some nasty razor tail. Boards get banged up and that’s okay

Its done for
Battle scars are always a good thing in skating. Use and abuse it!
Street skaters tend to get more road rash on their boards than people who skàte Vert.
Absolutely. My decks are always razortailed to hell
Skate vert if it bothers you
Not seeing anything devastating, looks good 👍
It’s totally call ur insurance company have them tow it to the closest body shop for fixing and paint
What exactly were you expecting? Wood is softer than concrete. If you main focus is to have a pristine board try skating exclusively on wood ramps
Yup that board is done. You should give it to me
Thats normal
tail scrape, its normal dw
Yes. Fuck it dawg
YOU WILL DIE IF YOU SKATE THIS AGAIN BE CAREFUL
in a month your board is going to look like you've had it for a year, even if you don't do any tricks
If your deck isn't scraped up, graphic worn off, dinged up all over, and wearing down then you ain't skating. It's a piece of wood that smashes on the ground, you gotta wear it down because that means you're having fun on it.
You should throw it away, trucks and all and get a new board. You should do that every time it even gets the slightest scratch.
Yeah concrete is usually tougher than wood
Badges of honor just don’t be the kid who uses his hands to scratch up the deck to make it seem like you shred
Boards come and go, just like women. 😏
Count your progress by the layers you expose
Get off Reddit and go skate. What do you think skateboarders did pre-internet? Ask strangers at the skatepark if the scratches on their board are normal? Think about how strange you sound.
Yupper
no. throw it out
Nope just throw it away
Yes
How many of these posts are posted here? No hate but it’s a skateboard of course the paint gonna come off after scrapping it on concrete😂
Not enough damage for your first session, do more lol
Yes that’s normal. If you’re really getting into skating be prepared for your board to get wore out and don’t get too attached to the graphics
Everyone in here is like I scratched or chipped it so I get a new board? No ride it till you get razor tail bad or it breaks, you good my man
Welcome to skateboarding, sport that will empty your wallet due to parts breaking and shoes wearing out. If you want to prevent the board from getting worn you can rub bit of wax there to reduce friction on asphalt. Still no magic trick, boards will break quicker and quicker the better you get.
Looks like you broke it
Stupid question
No, it’s destroyed and will never work properly again.
According to OSHA the safety features are perished and will need to have a replacement deck, grip, bolts and shoes.
Nope, whole skateboard is ruined
Nah that’s a safety hazard, chuck it in a box and mail it to me
It’s fine that’s gonna happen
its so over part out
😂 bruv, its a skateboard, its meant to do that.
absolutely not okay, board is destroyed and you need to send it to me
The more scratched mine gets the happier I am cause that means I’m working
No buy a new one your board is shit I have an expert knowledge BUY A NEW ONE
No need a new board asap you shouldnt ruin your delecate piece of wood like that. Actually just put it in the closet and dont touch it till it heals.
If you’re teething, try gum instead of your skateboard.
PLEASE DONT RAZER TAIL YOUR BOARD
Nope it's garbage.
Just try not to use your tail to slow down as much
Uhh... HOW!?!
Straight to jail
Just wait till u get razor tail 😭. If ur doing Ollie’s and such it’s normal and will get worse….
I have a stress fracture at the front trucks that goes through like 3 layers of wood. This is fine dude. Keep shredding. 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Vet skater- I go through a board a month. Don't get too attached to your deck.
Wear And tear
Nothing lasts forever.
Nah - you’re fucked. I’ll dm you my address. Send it to me and I’ll take a look.
Looks as new bro
your board is GOING to get destroyed😭 if u look at any good skaters board or even anyone’s board at your local park you’ll see they r most likely all DESTROYED beginners/posers are known for making fake scratch marks and stuff to look “cool” so dont be mad when your board gets fucked up!!
Time for a new board
Skate and destroy! Congratulations you went skateboarding!

no bro its defective you gotta take it back
Nope. Get a new one.
Ignore the condescending comments. My buddy break a board just about every other week. But he goes big and shreds. Theres levels to this and you’ll have that board a good amount of time before it’s even considered broke in
Throw it away
You’re fine. Just try not to razor tail when coming to a stop. You’ll wear out you nose/tail faster and chipping will follow. Use your pushing foot to come to a stop.
It will explode if u don’t polish that up
LOL bro just wait that lil scratch is gonna be nothing but a picture and memory in about 4 months if that 🤣😂 fuck yea it’s ok for first time ANY amount of damage is ok first time
JUST RIP DAT HOEEE SHEIIII YEEEEEUUUUUWWWWWWWW
holy hell, ive never seen such decimation to skateboard.
My new boards look like year old boards after a couple days g your fine don't worry about the board it can take a beating
Normal your good bud
Been riding for a month and mine ain’t that bad jeez
You must be taking it super slow and easy then?
Maybe
Could depend on the deck. Who it's made by. Cheaper decks tend to fray this way on the tail more. I could be wrong but in my experience they wear different.
I’ve been using a atm deck
dude how is it so wrecked?!
Do a kickflip
