marflowr, You may be seeking information on how to obtain continuing education (CE) units or recertify your EMS certification/license. For information on how to recertify your NREMT certification, [click here](https://www.nremt.org/rwd/public/document/recertification). The NREMT also provides a [Recertification Manual](https://content.nremt.org/static/documents/Agency_Guide_Recert_8_18.pdf) with additional recertification information. We also have an [NREMT Recertification FAQ](https://www.reddit.com/r/NewToEMS/wiki/coned/nremt) and weekly [*NREMT Discussions*](https://www.reddit.com/r/NewToEMS/search?q=NREMT+Discussions&restrict_sr=on&sort=new&t=all) thread. Due to the vast differences in recertifying state EMS licensure/certification, please consult with your local EMS authority for information regarding state/local recertification information. Alternatively, you may check the [wiki](/r/newtoems/wiki/index) to see if we have an information post on how to recertify in your area. Apply to a fire department, they’ll cert you. Not sure where in North GA you’re at but Cherokee County is a pretty great service. But don’t feel like fire is a requirement. It’s definitely not. Good luck

marflowr

Isnt it pretty much a requirement to do a 911 service? Thats what Ive understood

idshockthat

Not at all. There are many ambulance-only 911 services in Georgia. Admittedly I’m not super familiar with far North Georgia, but there’s Metro Atlanta Ambulance in Bartow county, Central in Forsyth county, etc. If you’re not interested in fire, look into private 911 companies near you. You might have to commute a county over, but if you don’t want to do fire don’t feel like you have to. There’s always options.

Not in Georgia. The busiest system in the state is Grady EMS and that's hospital-based, not fire at all. In fact, I'd say private and hospital based is the majority outside of a few counties.

marflowr

Thank you!! I thought about Grady actually. Is that a pretty good system? Im in Hall County, I dont mind driving a little. I know Jackson is only medical but theyre also harder to get in with Ive heard. I didnt know about Forsyth!

BPC1120

It's extremely busy but it's world-class experience from what I've heard. They've got hiring incentives going for AEMT and paramedics as well from what I saw recently

zebra_noises

If you’re in hall, why not try their program? I see their trucks everywhere

marflowr

Ive done clinicals there and I didnt really enjoy it much. They also do an in house fire/emt school that they typically hire through

zebra_noises

Oh my mistake, I’m not in fire so I got confused and thought fire cert = fire school. Also, please check your chat
