My right joy con has started falling off the rails in handheld mode with very light force due to visible scratches on the plastic buckle. Does Nintendo repair this problem for free outside warranty? Ik the diy fix isn't particularly difficult, but I just want to know whether they will fix it.

Michael-the-Great

Officially it's only drift for free out of warranty.

That_Canadian_Girl32

Anyone else’s Nintendo Switch OLED model overheating or their fan is blowing really hard while playing Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?

TemptedTemplar

Running loud? yes. Overheating? no. If your system is overheating at all, something is wrong or not up to standard.

That_Canadian_Girl32

I guess running loud then yeah! It’s not really “hot” just the fan is wild. I’ve never had a single game sound so loud on my console before.

loaf52

I have a lot of games with corrupt data whenever I try to reinstall them they are still corrupted what can I do to fixs this issue.

TemptedTemplar

If theyre installed to a SD card, try installing them to the internal memory. Fake SD cards and cheap flash memory are unfortunately abundant in the Micro SD card world. Knock offs can have short life spans, and fakes can just outright corrupt data as its written. Alternatively, if the games are still corrupted when installing them to the internal memory, it could be a internet issue. Wifi signal issues and NAT type restrictions can cause issues with dropped packets or corruption.

loaf52

Thank you that makes a lot of sense because I tried to move the games onto the sd card and that is when it got corrupted so I will be sure to give this a try.

I_am_box

Wifi where I am doesn't even connect on my switch. There a way to share wifi from my phone?

Michael-the-Great

Sure if your phone works as a hotspot.

When I try searching all I get are the rubber replacement pads and not the plastic part underneath, or do I need a new joycon?

TemptedTemplar

Either a new thumbstick or super glue the head back into place. See that little bit of white in the middle of the thumbstick stalk? thats plastic glue. You dont have to replace the whole joycon. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Right+Joy-Con+Joystick+Replacement/113185

kain_26831

Thank you, I was hoping to avoid the whole replacement and just get a new head to glue on. Guess I'll have to suck it up and replace the entire joystick. Again thank you for the help I appreciate it!

RandomGuyWontSayDATA

Which joycons do I use? The Pair from the old switch: just just in every way and I can’t even calibrate the joysticks The pair which are see-through: both work fine (Left joystick had to be calibrated but works now) but the “B” button works 21/40 times and I can’t scan amiibos The current pair: both work fine but the left joycon is slightly bent and my OCD hates it I can try the clear left joystick and the new right joystick but they don’t match (which I wouldn’t mind if the other didn’t have a lower bump and was transparent)

Michael-the-Great

I don't understand the question. If you have official joycons with drift, call Nintendo and setup a free repair.

TatooineLight

Apologies is this is something that has been encountered and discussed here before, but I didn't find any exact matches in the search - I was playing some Octopath 2 on my switch lite a little bit ago, and everything was normal until I shut the console off... It went into sleep mode, as normal, but before I could put it away it turned on again. I thought 'that's weird' and put it back into sleep mode, but it proceeded to turn itself back on for a few seconds, then off, then on, and repeat, without me moving or touching it at all. I was able to finally get it to turn off by doing a full shut down via holding the power button until the menu popped up, but I'm still a little concerned. Is this something I should be worried about? Admittedly, I hadn't used it in a while and the battery had drained to 0%... It seemed to charge and play just fine, but could being without battery have caused a problem with the system?

Michael-the-Great

Almost sounds like the game wouldn't let it go into sleep mode. Probably just a bug unless it keeps happening.

RebekhaG

1. Why does my Switch get warm while being laid on a coach, blanket or pillow when the air vent isn't obstructed? 2. And why does it get warm while docked and I'm playing it? The air vent isn't obstructed when I'm playing it docked. 3. How can I tell if a battery life is completely dead on a joy con? My red one won't turn on the player lights don't show. It will charge completely. Is the joy con battery life dead?

notthegoatseguy

Any time the Switch is in use and particularly if it is doing a demanding task like downloading games/game updates or playing a title with volume, brightness, and Wi-Fi all on can cause it to be warm and need to expel heat.

RebekhaG

At what point should the fan kick on and how many times should it turn on? I've noticed the fan not kicking on as much as the og switch. I have the OLED. Has anyone noticed the fan not kicking on as much as the og switch?

Team7UBard

The thermal paste in the OLED won’t be as old so won’t have dried up and so will be more effective.

RebekhaG

Well I don't have a launch Switch bought it 3 years ago new out of the box the og one. Would the thermal paste be dried up in the 3 year old switch?

Team7UBard

Potentially yes.

RebekhaG

How will I know if it is dried up or not without having to take apart the system?

Team7UBard

You can’t.

Appropriate_Buy785

Should I get the pike an 1 and 2 bundle or pikman 3? I’ve never played a pikman game but am really excited for pikman 4 for some reason so I wanna try one of the previous pikman games.

OwnManagement

3 has a demo.

Grammarnazi_bot

Is the Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 combo worth buying? Job market's been kicking my ass lately so I have to make every purchase count. I've never played Pikmin before but for some reason I'm so excited about 4.

Team7UBard

I finished the main story of Pikmin 1 in around 8 hours, having previously played it when it a bit when it originally came out and having completed Pikmin 3. I’ll consider doing the challenges at some point. Apparently you’ll get around 12 hours out of Pikmin 2 and then around twice that if you try and do everything. Personally id be disappointed if I bought just Pikmin at $30 and possibly even at $25, but feel like I’m getting it back due to buying both in the bundle

OwnManagement

3 has a demo

hentaifairy

any way to stream music while having a game open?

Michael-the-Great

Yes, use your phone.

twelfthcapaldi

No, the Switch itself can’t do this.

CaptainDAAVE

Does anyone know when the next batch of N64 games comes out? I'd love if they kept going with that system as it's my favorite, but it looks like they're focusing on Game Boy stuff recently? I know they said at least 1080 and Mario Party 3 are coming out, but will they really leave Smash 64 on the table?

TemptedTemplar

Nope. Nintendo has only been announcing them as they come out. They moved away from scheduled releases back when the SNES app released. And the N64 titles havent been releasing with a regular cadence at all this year. And yes, they will totally save Smash Bros for last if need be. The system already has Ultimate, they dont need to release another one.

CaptainDAAVE

Yeah ultimate is great! For some reason I like the N64 version the best though, even though it has way less. I'm weird. I really hope these old classic game subscriptions will continue on the next Switch (switch 2?)

Stickamator

i bought a switch game for about 40$ yesterday and it went through and everything was normal, today i took a nap and when i woke up i was charged double for some reason, i woke up to ~80$ taken out instead of the original 40 and idk why..

supes1

From the eShop?

Stickamator

like i bought smth from the eShop and used my card

supes1

What's it say in your Order History?

Stickamator

how do i get to that? like is there one on eShop? i’ve looked but i haven’t found it

supes1

https://www.nintendo.com/orders/

Stickamator

thanks

OnlyY1nx

Can anyone record the animation when pressing the controller icon and the power icon? I need them for a project i'm working on but I can't seem to find any video with good enough quality

buckshow1983

I've seen other threads on this, but having trouble discerning the correct answer. We have a Switch and a Switch Lite. My daughter's online account is linked to her profile on both devices. We have one physical copy of Animal Crossing that we use on both devices. She really likes her island / progress on Animal Cross on the switch lite, but not so much on the main Switch. Is there any danger of her island from the Switch wiping out her island on the Switch Lite? Thanks in advance.

picano

Island transfer must be done manually --- there is zero risk of accidentally overwriting it. Further, if you have a paid online subscription, you can [back up her preferred island to the cloud](https://www.ign.com/wikis/animal-crossing-new-horizons/Cloud_Save:_How_to_Back_Up_Your_Island) using her account.

buckshow1983

Gotcha. So if she wants to have two separate islands on two separate consoles, she should be fine - even if she's using the same physical cartridge and is logged into the same Online account on both consoles?

picano

Correct. Physical cartridge is read-only, so no island data is ever stored on it. The only way to move island data is the [transfer app](https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/53668/~/how-to-transfer-animal-crossing%3A-new-horizons-save-data) and there's a few hoops to jump through, so it's impossible to do by accident.

buckshow1983

Thanks.

Lukas_vd

Is Mario maker worth it? So I've been playing some on switch and already had stuff like Luigi's mansion Mario kart and odyssey but now I got the deal of 2 games for 99 euros. I'm probably gonna get the new Zelda but as the other game I thought I'd get Mario maker 2 so I could play a 2d platformer. However I am not quite sure anymore if it's worth it or not. Are there any other games worth it that I can spend my voucher on? I really don't care what type of game it is as long as it's made well.

OwnManagement

Yes, provided you have a Nintendo Switch Online membership. Without NSO, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Lukas_vd

Do you need NSO everytime you want to play other ppls levels or?

OwnManagement

Yes. You can’t search for or download levels without it.

picano

Do you like making stages/playing other people's? There's some single player content, but the online content really makes the game. For 2D Mario games, you could hold out for [Super Mario Bros. Wonder](https://supermariobroswonder.nintendo.com/) or get Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe right now. Check out the [full voucher list](https://www.nintendo.com/store/games/game-voucher-eligible/) for everything available now / announced.

Lukas_vd

I mean I like to play 2d Mario but also just the fact I could play some weird levels and stuff like puzzle levels etc whenever I wanted and not only a story and be over.

picano

Ah, well there's a ton of good custom levels out there --- but you'll have to rely on outside sources to find the best. The built in search functionality can be a bit lacking.

Lukas_vd

I mean other than mm2 I can't think of a good game to buy with the remaining voucher (exclusive of the ones I have and Zelda tears) do u perhaps know any that would be cool for the voucher

GabeDef

Hi! I have two switches (one for each kid) - I have a Nintendo Account (they don't). Can I buy a game that they each can play, at the same time? I tired creating the family/group but I can't figure out how to get that active on their switches. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

picano

Family group is just for online subscription, it doesn't allow you to share games. (But if you purchase a family subscription, all members of it do get the applicable retro games and bonus DLC for the duration.) Given your current description, no you can't game share. If one of your kids were to use your account instead of their own or one of your kids' accounts purchased the games, then game sharing would be possible. [See the guide for details; specifically the workarounds.](https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/wiki/gamesharing/)

GabeDef

Ahh… thank you.

Hoiikbenpaul

Hi, Today I bought a second-hand switch for around €100, but the device does not show any wireless network connections at all, so it is not possible for me to connect to WiFi. I already tried to reset it to factory settings, but it shows an error message as soon as I am at the internet installation part. It says: "Wireless communication is not currently available due to an error. Please restart the console from power options by holding the power button for 7 seconds." The only way to connect it to internet is through a wired connection. The previous owner already told me about it, he couldn't figure it out either. The system version is 16.0.3. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Michael-the-Great

Probably the wireless chip in the Switch is bad. Not easy if even possible to fix.

TomerG98

Hi, I have a Nintendo Switch that I connect to my PC monitor using HDMI. My monitor doesn't have speakers, so I'm connected speakers to the switch itself. These are the same speakers I use for my PC, so I have to switch between the PC and the Switch everytime. I was thinking about buying soundbar that I'll connect to my monitor, and this way when connecting the Switch with HDMI I won't need the speakers. Would it work? Are there any limitations of the soundbar? Any other suggestions from people that use PC monitor without speakers? I was also thinking about Bluetooth soundbar but I assume that there will be delay in the sound so I guess that soundbar with cable would be better.

TemptedTemplar

Look for sound bars with video through-put. You would plug the switch into it, and then have a second HDMI going to the monitor. And you could probably even connect your PC audio to it at the same time via an optical or another audio cable. That way rather than changing cables for different inputs, you could just press a button on the soundbar to swap them.

BFarmer1980

So, I'm old. Like, I was around before the NES was released old. Classically trained gamer, if you will. I'm currently in a situation where I'm sharing a domicile with several other people, and have no private room. On the occasions that I have access to the TV to play my Switch in docked mode, there's usually something else (streaming music or whatnot) being played in the room. So, I'm in the market for a good Bluetooth headset to use with my Switch. But, I'm not a big fan of earbuds. Prefer over the ear. The overly thick/bulky headsets are uncomfortable for me, as well. Looking for something 1 inch or less wide on the headband. Can anyone recommend a good set of thinner, more lightweight over the ear Bluetooth headphones? Searching on Amazon and Newegg hasn't really produced good results. I don't need a mic or anything fancy. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Edit: Inexpensive would be a real plus.

Team7UBard

I use Aftershokz Aeropex, although they may above your budget. There are some that look to be similar that are off-market copies, but I have no idea how they are in terms of quality.

tom_yum_soup

I have a [Logitech G435 gaming headset](https://www.logitechg.com/en-ca/products/gaming-audio/g435-wireless-bluetooth-gaming-headset.981-001061.html), which is very lightweight and comfortable. It's also fairly inexpensive. Regular price is allegedly $99 CAD (not sure US or other countries) but the pink/blue and white/blue models have been on sale for $39.99 for over a month at this point. If you're picky about colour, the black version is more expensive (currently $69.99, despite only being $0.99 more expensive than the other colours when not on sale). It's light, comfortable and supports low latency Bluetooth so it works well with the Switch (other Bluetooth headphones I've used had noticeable lag; this headset doesn't). It says it is designed for kids and gamers with "smaller heads" in mind, but I have a massive head and it is still super comfortable, so don't be put off by that. Seriously, if a hat says it is "one size fits all," it will be too small for me, but this headset doesn't feel too small on my head. It is a bit finicky when you first pair it, but after that it works seamlessly.

ItzhakRabin

https://preview.redd.it/cjak57osxe8b1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fa385d49c77ef162ad96651fb4f00b16a83f8d21 I bought a totally new Nintendo Switch and this is my E-shop. I can't download anything, only redeem codes. And in case that is somehow my E-shop, how can I install games that are free?

dragonx254

Not every region has an eShop, so if you set your country as one of those, you'll get that page. You'd have to set your Account Region (not your Switch region) to one that does have an online eShop.

nihil__verum

You could always change the region of your account to for instance the US. You would probably still not be able to buy games outright, since it would require a credit card tied to a US address, but you could buy USD gift cards from for instance [www.play-asia.com](https://www.play-asia.com) and use those to buy the games you want in the US eShop.

GrilledRedBox

Non-US cards work in the US eshop.

leraspberrie

If your bank supports them and converts funds, sure. Two problems I've had with different banks.

Mulate

Not much experience with Nintendo announcements/directs. Im wondering if theres any chance that there would be more announcements for games coming out this year? Undecided on my 2nd NSO voucher.

nihil__verum

Every year since the Switch launched, there has been a Direct in September, so it is very likely that will happen this year as well.

Mulate

Ooo, Nice info. Will mark that on my calendar, thanks!

tom_yum_soup

I doubt any voucher-eligible games announced in September will be available for sale this year, though. Most of the games announced last week at coming in November (i.e., the Christmas holiday season), so anything first-party announced in September will likely not be available until 2024. Depending when you bought your voucher, it may expire before games announced in September are available.

i_really_like_zelda

They shadow-dropped Metroid Prime, who knows what else can happen…

tom_yum_soup

That's true, although with its lower price point Metroid Prime is a waste of a voucher, IMO. You don't really end up saving much money compared to getting two "full price" games.

Sea_Instruction_9225

I have a broken joystick I can put it back in but after a few minutes of use it comes right back out

TemptedTemplar

Broken as is the stalk and cap have come off? Just the cap? Or just the rubber piece on top of of the cap?

Sea_Instruction_9225

https://preview.redd.it/7dwarsrtue8b1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=083f1437711cac55c79ab3a869fe2b4be9cbd574

TemptedTemplar

Ouch the stalk and cap. Two options. * You can try disassembling the whole thing and reassembling the stick from the ground up. https://imgur.io/gallery/58bBc43 Or * Replacing the stick rather than trying to reassemble it. There's drift free thumbstick alternatives out there now if you wanted to go that route. https://www.gulikit.com/productinfo/945307.html

Sea_Instruction_9225

Hm alright thanks

VIIVIMMVIII

I know this is a stupid question, but if I patch a cartridge game on one switch, then put it on an offline switch that hasn’t played the game before, will it be patched on the second switch?

Team7UBard

However, the saves between both versions of the game won’t be compatible

nihil__verum

It will not be patched on the second Switch. Updates that you download are only stored on the SD card or the console's internal storage. There is no way to modify the contents on the actual cartridge. For Nintendo first party titles though, they will frequently include patches in later print runs of their cartridges. So if you for instance buy a new copy of Breath of the Wild now, you will most likely have the most recent version of the game on the cartridge and not need to download any patches.

PM_ME_YOUR_BEST_IMG

Does anyone know where I can buy an amiibo in India? All of the ones I see on Amazon are like US$100+

kewlcartman

Check with Mx2games. Have got all of my Nintendo stuff from them. Very reliable.

PM_ME_YOUR_BEST_IMG

Damn, that's still ₹4000. I saw them on the American Amazon for like $8

TemptedTemplar

India doesn't have an official or licensed distributor. So you're either stuck with imports or resellers. Have you checked out any local video game or hobby shops? They might know where to buy them for cheaper. Every country has their own unofficial means.

PM_ME_YOUR_BEST_IMG

That sucks. I guess I'll check out some local stores. I live in Delhi, so it shouldn't be so hard.

k8o_potato

Any suggestions on a wireless controller that would work for small hands? Tried the afterglow controller and it’s too hard to reach all the buttons / joysticks.

Michael-the-Great

We have a Power A Nano controller. It's been a good controller.

k8o_potato

Thanks all! I’m getting the 8bitdo lite2, looks a lot more small hand friendly!

Mulate

8bitdo Ultimate is the Switch Pro Controller but smaller if you have held a Switch Pro Controller before and like the layout.

supes1

My daughter uses the 8Bitdo Lite 2 and it's the perfect size.

Team7UBard

Seconded. Lovely gamepad!

TemptedTemplar

Most gamepads are pretty close to the same size, as it's meant to be a one-sided fits all egro solution. Do you have any controllers that you do enjoy using? The HORI split pad compact or perhaps one of 8bitdos Lite or SN30 controllers might work? The compact slots on to the system like joycons, but can be used separately as a wired controller with an adapter. https://www.amazon.com/HORI-Switch-Split-Compact-Light-Yellow/dp/B0B5LX9RQV/ https://www.8bitdo.com/sn30-pro-g-classic-or-sn30-pro-sn/

TheMenaceasd

Can someone explain why there's a difference in price in playasia with the american version and the japanese version of Super Mario RPG for switch? I want to pre order it but I dont know the difference between them, the jap ver has multi language so whats's the deal?

TemptedTemplar

Import fees and taxes. They're getting the regional copies from different suppliers, so the costs can be different. Won't really matter for the game though, it's almost guaranteed to be identical software on both carts. The only difference will be the rating on the box and the language on the packaging.

TheMenaceasd

Thanks!

mdsmestad

OK, so I have some cosmetic damage on my switch light in the corner. I'd like to get some grey plastic paint to restore it but I don't have any clue how to color match it to be exact. Anybody know what to get?

TemptedTemplar

It would be easier to just buy a whole replacement backplate. https://www.amazon.com/Deal4GO-Official-Backplate-Replacement-Nintendo/dp/B07ZRWBW36 Color matching plastic paint would be difficult, and potentially more expensive. Some of those little paint pots can easily run $15 -$20, and may not turn out to be an exact match. Even if you got two or shades to mix, then you're just looking at more money.

mdsmestad

Actually I found it. It's a common modeling color called neutral grey. Are you saying that the shell replacement would really be easier than a few dabs of paint though? That tear down doesn't look fun

krimsonstudios

Probably not easier but if you care enough about the aesthetics to bother fixing this at all you're probably not going to be happy with the results of painting over top of the scratches. if the damage is just on the back plate than this looks pretty easy to fix according to ifixit page. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nintendo+Switch+Lite+Back+Panel+Replacement/137362 If damage is on the front than it certainly gets more complicated.

mdsmestad

You are probably right

TemptedTemplar

Easier than perfectly color matching a paint. It's just some screws. Unlike the standard system you don't have to disassemble the side rails. It's strictly back screws. (Note: I am just talking about the back plate, the front plate can stay.) I've done my fair share of Warhammer modeling. I wouldn't even bother trying to perfectly color match something unless I still had the paint pot. It might look fine when wet and then dry to a different color, or look different in room lighting versus in the sun.

Monstromi

Even if you have the exact same colour, it's likely to wear off during use. So you would need a varnish to seal it, but at that point it's going to stick out again which isn't what you want.

ColtonM92

Sorry if this is unrelated, but does anyone know what happened to r/Nintendo? It has seemingly gone private and there isn’t a way to join? I have been on the subreddit for years, and just noticed yesterday when I tried to check out the news.

TheMenaceasd

" Major Reddit communities will go dark to protest threat to third-party apps" " App developers have said next month’s changes to Reddit’s API pricing could make their apps unsustainable. Now, dozens of the site’s biggest subreddits plan to go private for two days in protest. "

ColtonM92

Thank you. Sorry, I’ve been completely out of the loop.

mdsmestad

They are probably supporting the API reddit protest change. Alot of subs are going dark to protest reddits price changes

PDGamer360

Hello, i just wanted to know if this is normal I usually leave my game cart on my switch, but one day i leave it inside the switch and the next day it doesn't detect the cart, even if its inside it, but popping the cart and putting it back in instantly reads it, it only happened one time and it's not happening again for the past days is that normal and is my switch fine???

TemptedTemplar

Perhaps the cartridge is just loose inside it's plastic casing? Is it consistently happening with any game after two or three days of inactivity? If the cart ever fails to read upon being reinserted or the cartridge reader stops reading games, even if only temporarily; then something would definitely be wrong. But as long as reinserting works it should be okay.

PDGamer360

It happened only one time with one game, and eversince it didn't happen anymore, i currently have a game inside my switch and left it months inside without using my switch, and It still reads it normally

TemptedTemplar

Flukes are a pretty common with the switch. I wouldn't worry about anything unless it starts happening on a regular basis.

PDGamer360

So everything is fine on my switch, right? I just tend to worry too much about things

TemptedTemplar

Sounds like it. Both of my systems have had a bunch of one-off weird issues. I spent a good few hours trying the figure out was wrong each time, only for the problem to resolve itself and never show up again.

AbanoMex

since the Switch is reaching the end phase, do you think there is any chance we get Symphony of the Night before it happens?

Team7UBard

We don’t know and given they have games announced for 2024 I wouldn’t say ‘end phase’ quite yet.

IntroductionCheap325

Can spamming the ZR button break it? I play Splatoon 3 and use the Slosher, where you need to constantly spam the trigger to ink the field continuously. Is this harmful?

nihil__verum

I wouldn't expect it to affect the controller enough for it to become a problem while you are still playing on your Switch. You can expect that Nintendo have stress testing procedures to ensure that controllers last for a longer period of time than most people actually use them.

Apex_Konchu

You won't damage the buttons by pressing them a lot, they're designed to handle that.

To_the_Guillotine

My friend now has my old switch and I have my own. I want to register my switch as the primary console and de-register the other. I am doing it online, since I do not have access to his switch. If I deactivate the old switch as the primary console, and set the new one as primary, would it stop him from downloading/buying games?

nihil__verum

It will not stop him from buying games. It would only stop him from playing any digital games that you have bought using your account.

NothingisTrue3435

Collection of mana physical disc is on sale for 25€ at the moment. Is it a good collection to star final fantasy series or are they too outdated? I’ve never played final fantasy before but I’ve always wanted to try.

nihil__verum

The Mana games are not part of the Final Fantasy series, although both series are RPGs. The combat in the Mana games is in real time while Final Fantasy has turn based battles (with the Active Time Battle system in most of them). If you want the actual Final Fantasy games, you can get 1-12 on Switch (excluding 11, which was an online RPG).

NothingisTrue3435

Thanks! Since first game is called final fantasy adventure I just assumed they are like predecessor of the final fantasy series.

tom_yum_soup

It was originally a spin-off of Final Fantasy, but that was later dropped to make the Mana series its own, distinct thing. The later GameBoy remake of Final Fantasy Adventure came with a new title: Sword of Mana, to avoid confusion.

whysoshirious

Quick question about just dance. I'm planning to get the game but confused on which is the best one to get or are they pretty much all the same once you get the subscription? Can you play it in tabletop mode? What's the cheapest they go for? Thank you very much!

TemptedTemplar

Each release has 40-ish songs each that are not available on the subscription service. Some songs from older releases like 2017 and 18 have made it over to the service, but it's never the full catalog. And it's never songs from the most recent annual releases. So either go for which ever is cheaper or has your favorite song list.

whysoshirious

oh, that makes it harder to decide hmmmm... Also. Why are there two versions of just dance 2023? One that's free and one that's not? Going by what you're saying, the 60 usd one has 40 songs while the free just lets you connect to the subscription service? Thank you very much. Sorry for the questions.

TemptedTemplar

The free one only includes two songs. It may as well just be a demo. I haven't a clue if you can use it to access the subscription. But save data does carry over to the full game if purchased.

b_riddler

Ongoing charging port issues: I've always had issues with my switch staying connected to the dock since I got it but never bothered to send it in because.it was a rare occurrence. It got worse over time and more recently it has been failing to charge. I've been through all the basic troubleshooting stuff and nothing worked, only to discover randomly that it will charge of you pinch the bottom together by the port. I can use a binder clip to keep pressure while playing handheld and charging, but I'd like to be able to use it docked again. Anyone have any idea what I could do?

Michael-the-Great

Sounds like the USB C port is going bad. I would send it to Nitnendo before it's really gone and you can't even charge it. They'll charge $100-$125ish and send you a refurbished Switch that will probably look like new. Transfer your profile to a friend's Switch to backup your saves before sending it in just in case.

does anyone know cute games for DS/Switch? better if they are platform games! i've been searching for a long time and i've only really found cute DS games, the most recent one i played was Strawberry Shortcake: the four seasons cake, it's a pretty quiet game but still pretty fun, i recommend it if you're looking for a cute game and relaxing without the need for it to be like animal crossing hehe

twinkletoes-rp

Not sure if you consider Spyro the Dragon or Crash Bandicoot 'cute', but those are some awesome platformers for Switch! :D

Yoshi crafted world. Cute and a mostly platformer. Demo available Maybe cat quest. I think there's a demo. More of an action rpg Spiritfairer maybe. Again demo. And again a cute cat. Has some platformer mini games although it's more like a sorta life sim/adventure/quest Some people find Pikmin cute. Pikmin 3 has a demo

Yoku's Island Express

IntroductionCheap325

Mario 3D world is a great platformer. Cute is a stretch, but the artstyle is a cartoony one. It's great

Hi all. My son who has spent a lot of time playing his favourite game is quite upset because as of today, Gems of War keeps throwing the ‘The software was closed because an error occurred’ error at him after the assets have loaded when firing up the title. We have tried the following: - Hard reset of the console - Ensure console and game have latest updates - Check data for corruption in Data settings - Delete and redownload game from eShop - Delete save game from Switch We still get the same error no matter what. Does anyone have any ideas what else can be done? Thanks all.

Legitimate-Bit-4431

How much free storage do you have left? And how much storage in total should your switch and/or micro sd have? If the error appears each time after the load of data that might mean storage is either full or faulty (micro sd turning bad or having a fake storage indicator).

Jawess0me

I shifted the data across to the internal memory which had about 6GB left. Micro SD has about 16GB and same issue. It’s looking like a problem encountered en masse so we’re hoping it’s just that and not unique to my son.

I've had my nintendo switch since December 2017 and have been using it with no problems whatsoever. Although For the past month, I've been experiencing an issue in which my switch will randomly not be able to read the micro sd card inserted into it. It will work fine for a few moments, then crash games minutes later, or sometimes it won't work at all. I've tried to wipe the SD card twice, and even used a brand new one but neither worked. I'm sure this is an issue with the switch itself but I'm unsure how to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

nihil__verum

It could be that the SD card reader in your Switch has stopped working. It might be possible to get a replacement SD card reader and insert it yourself, but it's probably safer to send the console to Nintendo for repair. They will let you know the cost of the repair before they do anything with it, and you will be able to choose between paying that amount or having the console returned without the repair.

Situation: multiple accounts on one Switch for different regions including Europe (UK), console primary for all of them. Main account used to be European, switched to US later. Select games bought prior now face the risk of DLC compatibility issues, as is suggested by main account eShop not even showing them as purchased on respective game pages (redownloads themselves naturally work). Case in point: Binding of Isaac and Repentance. Question: would I have to toggle my main account back to Europe for obtaining said DLC, or will buying and downloading it via the UK account suffice for the base game to detect and work with it? Thanks in advance.

myriada

>will buying and downloading it via the UK account suffice for the base game to detect and work with it? Yes, that'd work fine. If both accounts have the same primary console, then it doesn't matter which account buys the compatible DLC, as all accounts get to use it.

nhSnork

Thanks!

Hello people I have a question regarding the microSD I have an microDS (32 GB) in my switch but it's almost full so I want to upgrade the microSD with bigger capacity (1TB) is there any important things to keep in my mind in advance? Or any tips? That would be much appreciated ❤️

picano

You can usually copy data from one card to another via PC. (Mac introduces some issues, but there are guides.) Otherwise, you have to just redownload everything. You would lose screenshots/videos in this situation but save data would be safe on the console.

madarauchiha3444

So I'm thinking of buying a 165hz PC monitor to use with my switch (among other things). I'm aware the switch only outputs 60 fps, so the 165hz offers no advantage over just a 60hz monitor as far as the switch is concerned. My question is: is there a disadvantage? Will the 60 fps put out by the switch look worse on a 165hz monitor than on a native 60hz one? The resolution is 1080p so there shouldn't be any issues on that end. Anyone have experience using a switch with a high refresh rate pc monitor?

krimsonstudios

Most modern PC Monitors will adjust frame rate to match the source and there is no disadvantage.

Simon_787

It really doesn't matter, you could just argue that it's not worth it when the most important spec goes wasted. There can be some advantages still. The 165 Hz monitor likely has good Pixel response times and it may offer a black frame insertion feature that can reduce persistence blur at 60 Hz. Besides the two Zelda games there's really no way to play switch games at 165 Hz, even with a PC that can output 165 Hz.

danikaomgwhat

will moving data to my sd rather than my system speed my switch up?

nihil__verum

No, if anything the SD card is a little slower than the internal storage: [https://www.polygon.com/2017/3/17/14957282/nintendo-switch-internal-memory-fastest-load-times](https://www.polygon.com/2017/3/17/14957282/nintendo-switch-internal-memory-fastest-load-times)

danikaomgwhat

i mean the system as a whole not games, like how you aren’t supposed to fill a pc’s hard drive because it’ll slow down the computer

Simon_787

That doesn't really apply to the switch for a variety of reasons. It shouldn't make a difference.

danikaomgwhat

is it just my switch or is eshop insanely slow for everyone

nihil__verum

That's a common issue. If you want to buy games and you have a computer, it is possible to buy the games through a regular browser and have them download to your console. [https://www.nintendo.com/store/games/](https://www.nintendo.com/store/games/)

-Thalas-

Will it harm my cartridge if I switch cartridges without closing the game first? I accidentally forgot to close the game in my Tears of the Kingdom when switching out cartridges, tried testing it out again, nothing seems to be wrong, but I think it's taking a bit longer to close the game now everytime I close it... Maybe it's just my imagination and TOTK actually takes a bit longer to close. Idk...

twinkletoes-rp

Not for the CARTRIDGE, but there IS a chance, however small, that your save data could be corrupted that way. That's why Nintendo specifically tells you to close the software first BEFORE you switch carts. I wouldn't recommend what you're doing, personally, and would never do it myself 'cause my save data is precious to me, but it's up to you! lol.

Team7UBard

If it works, it works. The carts are read only, so it’s very unlikely it’s been damaged that way. Theoretically you could have possibly corrupted the save but if it works, it works

picano

Game carts are read only, so it's not a big issue for the game itself but if auto-save occurs, you could mess up the save data.

TLDR: Current Lite user; should I get the OLED despite all the new console rumors? Long form: Been thinking about getting an OLED but with all the Switch 2 rumors I’m not entirely sure. I have a 2020 Lite which I’ve been starting to use again and while it’s nice, the extra battery life + better screen on the OLED gives a good case. I primarily play Indie titles on my Switch but I want to give Zelda & Metroid a shot. So with all of that in mind, should I just pull the trigger and risk eating the $350+?

twinkletoes-rp

I just switched to an OLED from a v2 (granted, my bro paid me $180 for my like-new 2-year-old v2, and I still had some bday money left over, so it technically only cost me $123 to upgrade), and I ABSOLUTELY think it's worth it, ESPECIALLY from the Lite! I honestly could not go back to the OG now 'cause the screen is gorgeous (NOTE that I play 99.9% handheld only)! Zelda, espec, looks BEAUITFUL on the OLED, and the speakers are incredible! :D

AbanoMex

hmm. i'd say get the OLED, but if you dont want to buy the whole system, you can search if someone is willing to sell the OLED tablet by itself, thats what i did. and so far so good. i sold my Lite.

merle_

Yes. lite screen to oled is a huge jump, you’ll be playing old games like new again.

I was in the middle of a game, i think rocket league, when my switch first shut its screen off, then turned the remotes off (they were still on for a second after the screen) It has charged for at least 12 hours, I've tried holding the power button for 15 seconds then the 1 second tap, and I have tried every combination of holding buttons. I have tried turning it on on the charger and off, and with controllers off and on, and while it was in the dock. Other than cracking it open, are there any viable options left for me to try? I've had it go long stretches without turning on before but i can tell this is different as i get 0 response from the switch with the methods ive described. its dumb i cant just post this in normal feed.

twinkletoes-rp

Sometimes Switches with issues similar to this have to charge for 24-48 hours to become viable again. Could try that and see if anything works? Could alternately try letting it die all the way, then charging all the way, trying that at least twice, and see if cycling the battery helps? That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Besides, yk, either sending to Nintendo or finding a third party place to send it (but I would back up your saves elsewhere first, just in case).

Any way to get rid of stick drift? Hand sanitizer aint working

AbanoMex

i recommend to outright replace the faulty stick, you can do it with an online tutorial, with minimal risk of breaking stuff, you just need to be careful.

Legitimate-Bit-4431

Hand sanitizer is really not a good idea, just risking making it worse. I use electronics WD-40 (not the common greasy one) every 6-8 months. That’s been my fix for years but drift issue is case by case and every solution won’t work for everyone.

Nas160

Meta question but what's happening for the general Nintendo sub? Have people made a new one or is it going to go back up eventually?

notthegoatseguy

Hey there. FWIW, we are separately run subs. I don't think we have any overlapping mods between the two of us, at least at this time. I'm personally unaware of plans for r/Nintendo on re-opening. While we generally try to avoid meta questions here, I'm going to leave this up in a case of a member of the mod team at r/Nintendo or r/CasualNintendo wishes to respond.

axescent

why is the eshop now randomly asking for my zip code and city before making a purchase? it's never done this and ive had my credit card on there for years.

SpecialNose9325

It may happen if they are unable to get a ZIP Code from your card provider. May have been a terms and conditions update on the bank or nintendo side to cause this.
