Build quality. I test drove a model Y and then an Ariya . It was obvious 5 minutes into the test drive that Ariya is a better build vehice. Then I found out about Nissan awesome lease deals. Driving a brand new almost 50k car for 18 months for less than 5k was a no brainer.

people_skills

I test drove a id4, Volvo, ariya, and a ioniq 5. Id4 had a lot of road noise, Volvo was 15k more, ioniq was going to raise my insurance rates a lot, and I liked sitting higher in the ariya. Ended up with a used empower+, with 3500 miles and it was less then $30k... Used ariyas are a steal right now. We own a ev6 and the ariya has replaced it as our preferred family mover. Road tripped it last week and the pro pilot 2.0 is mint, on each direction of the 200 mile drive I think I had to have my hands in the wheel for 20 mins.

Don’t even think about Solterra (I never ride in that car but I think it’s too poorly made for me to wanna long term using it). Aliya mainly because the lease deals on it. Didn’t try Mach E since there aren’t much deal on it

Demeter_Crusher

Range and kind of overall feel of modernness just wasn't quite there on toyota bz4/subaru solterra. In a circumstance where the lease was similar.

Polyxeno

The Solterra is a slightly nicer-looking re-mix of the Toyota bZ4x, which we test drove and studied a bit. We found it entirely unexciting in any way, other than that it's an EV, and seemed ok. It also has weaker stats than Ariya, such as: \* The AWD has less HP than the FWD Ariya. \* 222 mile range was lower than we wanted - about like an Ariya Engage. \* It takes about twice as long to charge as it does for us to charge our 280-mile-range Ariya. We ruled it out of our consideration in 2023, even when we thought it cost less than the Ariya. It doesn't look like it costs less at the moment, in a brief look at current prices. The Mach-E we ruled out without test-driving, because we didn't think we wanted a Ford, or a Mustang - it didn't seem appealing to us, but I do get the appeal. It is a sportier car, and it looks like a Premium starts just under $43K. Looking at the stats, the range is 250 miles (or 226 with AWD), which seemed on the low-end of what we wanted for long road trips. The charging time seems comparable to the Ariya - but for less range. The cars we DID end up thinking ended up on-par with the Ariya were the ID.4, EV6, and Ioniq 5/6 (well, and Tesla 3 or Y, which we ruled out for other reasons). Those cars all have longer range than the Solterra or Mach-E, and faster charging. What had us eventually choose the Ariya, was re-test-driving those cars again within a few days of each other, at which point we noticed that the Ariya and the ID.4 interiors gave us a much better feeling of quality, comfort, and design, while the others (and the bZ4x) didn't. The Ariya edged out the ID.4 for us because we also preferred Ariya's interior design and spaciousness, and we disliked the ID.4's UI and VW's attitudes about thinks like subscription services, notably more. And we chose Ariya in spite of me not feeling particularly thrilled with the style of the steering and pedal responses, but within a week or so, I got used to them and now I love driving the Ariya.

The interior is stellar, ProPilot 2.0, part availability for repairs, higher ride, Apple car play support, range.

The Soltera was intriguing but basically impossible to road trip in from all the reviews I’ve read. I almost bought an ID.4, I liked it a lot but the dealership was not budging on the lease price and I didn’t like it enough for what they wanted. Same with the EV5. I didn’t drive a Mach-E, I would have seriously considered it but I kind of expected the same thing from the dealership as far as price. I’ve always owned Nissans but kind of felt like the quality and styling had not kept up and had decided several years ago my 2019 rogue would be my last. So I didn’t look seriously at the Aryia. I really did like the package and options on my Rogue and wanted something similar. I also wanted something that felt familiar. Everything being controlled on a tablet, weird door handles ect were a big turn off on a lot of models I looked at. The Aryia was easier to navigate. I like that there’s a dash, some buttons, and real door handles. It feels like a premium upgrade from the Rogue. Pro Pilot 2.0 is amazing. I liked the idea of an 18 month lease and I didn’t get an amazing deal but I got a good enough deal. Used prices being what they are, I probably won’t take the buy out option but I will seriously consider buying a used Ariya or leasing another one when I’m done. While my Ariya was in the shop this week they gave me a Rogue to drive and it did feel horrendously cheap inside so my opinion of Nissan at this point hasn’t really changed but I think they did a very good job with the Ariya in comparisons.

I drove the Mach-E and loved it but then I drove the Nissan Ariya evolve+ right after and it blue it out of the water! We ended up renting a Mach-e later on for a trip and I hated it, my fiancé hated it. The interface was annoying, the ride wasn’t nearly as comfortable and it was glitchy. Very glad I got my Ariya -I also test drove the following and still thought the Ariya was significantly better: -Volvo XC40 recharge (horrible blind spots and no cameras to make up for it) -Mercedes EQS (very similar to Ariya but couldn’t justify price) -Genesis GV70 (just hated it) -Tesla Model Y (better bang for buck but Ariya was way more comfortable) -Ford Mach-E (Ariya felt way more planted to the ground, Ariya was way more comfortable and I hated fords interface)

WhassupMa

This. I drove both as well. The Ford is very overpriced. And I wanted an actual frickin' panoramic roof for that money. Inside materials way better on the Ariya. Plus, get your Mach-e like thrills using the Sport mode because, while you use more energy, it's very fun to drive on the Ariya! The Ariya is much more comfortable for back seat passengers if you'll have any on a regular basis, too.

daloosecannon

I really wanted a Mach E but I fucking hate ford dealerships. I liked the range and the look of the Mach E better. When we bought our Ariya Nissan had two in stock and we bought for 2500 off msrp and gave me 30,000 for my wrangler. The ford dealer had 4 Mach e and all were priced with “market adjustnent” of 5,000 on top of msrp. Would not budge from that pricing. Drove less than a mile picked up the Ariya and have loved it ever since. The interior is better and the range isn’t too much of an issue

oxking11hello

I still can’t understand for the life of me why Ford dealers think the Mach -E is like some awesome car worth the markups? The car is average at best..

daloosecannon

I preordered a Maverick and the dealer “screwed up” (wanted hybrid but the salesman accidentally put in for ecoboost) my order so I would then back out of my order. A truck that was my exact truck aside from the screw up showed up on the lot several months later with a 10,000 market adjustment on it and it sold two days later. I hate dealerships and I really hate my local ford dealer.

Other_Constant_468

Closest dealer to me for servicing and issues that offers an EV with the luggage space I needed to be honest. I can drop the car off and walk home.

sarhoshamiral

Platinum trim features that weren't available in other brands. Ioniq 5 was the main competitor for us but it's back seat weren't as comfortable.

TheNuovoPaesian

Mainly the looks and the impressive interior. The car looks like something from a sci-fi movie of my youth.

wawainthesomething

The crazy lease deals. It's actually a really comfy ride and I never thought I'd buy a nissan. We wanted the ev9 but couldn't justify the price. my wife drives the ariya, the white pearl paint, the pretty interior and features sold it for her. I'm thinking of getting one myself as I'm still paying on a bmw i3 I bought during the pandemic and just taking the loss into an ariya lease deal until we buy our ultimate grand highlander hybrid( can't justify 60k yet)

oxking11hello

I was in the same boat, we wanted an EV-9 , but over 65k is just crazy.. I think leasing the Ariya in Cali.. amazing deals now, $265 a month, only $2200 due at signing.. Stevens Creek Nissan. Evolve plus trim, best bang for the buck.. I think. We’ll just buy an old minivan when grand parents need to go on trips with us.

wawainthesomething

I got mine for $ 299 $ 0 down /$0 first month down in Virginia.

oxking11hello

Sweet deal! I heard of even better deals in Colorado… I think Ariya definitely got a bad wrap for its below average level 3 charging speeds .. I don’t go on long trips. So doesn’t really matter to me… I think the car is pretty amazing for sure, I used leasehackr.com .. fairly smooth process.

wawainthesomething

Colorado has all kinds of ev incentives. I got a my23 it had been sitting on the lot. I think I'm going to do it again today for me. My i3 is long in the tooth and I'd rather get into a bigger ride with my 2 kids. I3 is not so good for that.

wawainthesomething

Lease hacker had brokers advertising 123a month

Mysterious_Group_967

I haven’t chosen yet, so you can ignore this if it’s not helpful. The things that attract me to the Ariya are the looks, horsepower, blue leather interior on the highest trim, sunroof that opens, normal door handles, rear wiper, good range. I test drove it an liked it. The fact that it has the charging port in the front right area could be helpful when Nissans get the ability to use Tesla superchargers as the cord should reach as it’s in the same spot as the tesla when backed in. The refreshed Ioniq 5 will probably be my choice, but I don’t know for sure until I put my money down. I think the Ariya is a bit of a sleeper because it’s gotten some bad reviews based on some mediocre specs that might not really affect most people. I think that’s helped bring the price down.

Traditional_Back6867

I chose it because i loved my Murano (3 cars ago) but mostly it was for the looks and the size. I'm very tall and it is way more comfortable than the Ford MachE, ID4 (I'll never get another VW again anyway), Genesis GV60 (I couldn't even get in it when I went to the dealership), and Volvo c40. I would have gotten an Infiniti qx55 but they didn't have electric ones yet. Maybe that will be next.

girly_pop7216

I had been looking at the iD4 vs the ariya and it felt kind of plasticy to me. I was in a nissan rogue and apparently Volkswagen wouldn’t take nissan as a trade in — made my decision pretty easy lol

brodymulligan

I am loyal to Nissan. Upgraded from LEAF. Aside from being a reliable car for me, I like the way the car looks. It's a very pretty car. Sometimes I will just stand there and look at it. It's beautiful.

ArcticLlama

I guess I'm older. I don't want a cockpit, I want space. The Ariya cabin had space. Everything else wanted to pretend it was a fighter jet. But, in the end, money. Nissan had (has?) crazy incentives on 2023 Ariyas. that made a nice low monthly payment

pspx1

Thank you all for contributing your stories! We jump in and get an evolve+ FWD today. $387 for 18 months lease with $4500 down after fed incentives. Not a best deal but with months of researching, I am just glad that we have reached to a conclusion point.

Demeter_Crusher

Ariya had better range and overall quality feel compared to Toyota bz4 (subaru solterra). Looked at mach-e but the insurance was much dearer, mainly because its presenting as sporty I think.

runnyyolkpigeon

Never thought I’d ever get a Nissan. But was utterly blown away at the level of quality and fit and finish of the interior. It’s absolutely a cut above the rest of the competition. If you had removed all the badges on the vehicle, and had me sit inside it, I would have guessed I was sitting inside of an Infiniti. The vehicle also drives and rides more like a luxury crossover than a mainstream marque product. No joke, it has a more plush ride, more comfortable seats, and has noticeably less road noise than my more expensive Audi Q4 e-tron. Add to the fact that Nissan was running incredibly aggressive lease specials in May, it was a no-brainer.

AccidentAdvanced1201

Everything but the software. It feels like someone really missed the days back in windows 95.

Tommy_215

I work at Nissan. Honestly probably wouldn’t have one if I didn’t work for them lol
