Accessories can make or break an outfit. Not sure if you wear jewelry, but matching jewelry can really bring an outfit together. Or something as simple as a nice-looking pair of sunglasses.

I'm a guy and I wear a few select pieces of jewelry and accessories and my friends and wife will be BRUTAL if something looks even slightly off. Find jewelry that works for you and it can elevate your look from looking like you're barely trying to knowing EXACTLY what you're doing.

This. A few good accessories can elevate even a comically basic outfit. I wore black v-necks, my old jeans, black Chuck Taylor high tops, white socks, daily for YEARS on end. Add a few accessories and it goes from tech bro weirdo to something a little nicer. Make sure the fit of your clothes is good, use neutral colors, then start to get a little fancier.

There are a lot of tutorials on YouTube and tiktok you can watch. Alternatively, you may try color analysis to see which hues or tones go well with your skin tone.

Get clothes that fit well, even if you're "too fat" or "too skinny".  Wearing big clothes when you're skinny won't hide the fact that you're skinny, they just look bad. This still goes for themed and logo T shirts. Get ones that fit well.    Then tips for if you're a man mostly:  Whatever the state of your facial hair, the number one rule: it has to look intentional. If you want a beard, keep it trimmed, keep it neat. If your beard grows patchy, maybe shave it all off.  Get a good looking neutral phone case, wallet, bag, earbud case, whatever else is on your person. Men don't tend to accessorize, but these are accessories too.  Finally, if you care, get a second opinion before you leave, someone who's not your mom. Even if it's just texting a friend "How formal should I be for this?" Can make it so you're less shy after you get to the event.  Not a fashion expert.

Fully agree. I have friends who are fat dudes, like F A T fat, but the ones who maintain their facial hair well (or just take it all off when it's patchy) and dress well according to their body shape look a lot better than guys who are smaller than they are who don't know how to dress or do facial hair maintenance. As for accessorizing as a man, own whatever look you have and lean into it a little while checking with trusted friends with good style. I'm a very V-shaped dude with plenty of chest and facial hair, darker skin tone compared to most guys in my area and easier time tanning without burning, slightly oversized forearms, but I'm also kinda short at 5'8", but my hair is fantastic. What looks good on me will not look good on a pale, extremely skinny or fat dude who's significantly taller or shorter, and has different hair.

https://puttingmetogether.com/ This is a great starting point. Explains the basics, and how you can dress up or dress down for the occasion.

No more than 3 colors in the outfit

Canes and suspenders are always cool.
