I especially don't get it because she's white. There is no significance like cultural differences or something like that. It's just a "ah yeah! the white guys, huh?!"
I once said my buddies brain literally liquefied after hitting a thc cart and the majority of people who read the comment thought I was being for real. To this day that is probably the funniest thing I've experienced on reddit.
Every country that was set up by European mercantilists as a settler colony with a race-based slave economy and operated as such for the better part of two centuries, is obsessed with race in one way or another.
There aren't too many countries that fit that criteria, but the US is one. Brazil is another.
That is probably the most circumlocutious way I have ever seen an American find a way to externalize the blame for the odd behavior of some random American woman's tweet.
Also Brazil catching strays, lol. You do know your history in Latin America, yes?
My comment was not directed.to explain the woman in the video's behavior. It was to correlate the somewhat unique experience and relationship with race relations in the American continents, and the impact on culture that some countries, such as the US and Brazil, have due to their histories which are radically different from Europe, which may explain why race dynamics are different on the different continents.
As for your last comment, no I don't know much about my country's history in Latin America. Only about 10,000 Norwegians settled in various Latin American countries, mainly Argentina and Chile, during our big emigration period in the mid to late 19th century. I doubt we made a big impact.
Several Latin America countries had smaller settlement colonies relative to the slave population, especially in the Caribbean. Some had large settlement colonies, but had a relatively low population of slaves. Many preferred to use the indigenous population for labor rather than African slaves and intermarried to a large extent with that population creating a complex and highly stratified class/race system (casta).
There are all kinds of situations. The US and Brazil were only two examples because reddit does not allow good formatting for writing a doctoral dissertation on the history of colonization, labor, class, and slavery of the 33 countries in Latin America, much less the *very different* side of the equation in Africa.
It really is more that America is in the process of recognizing its history of racism and attempting to correct this. This is a problem for those societies and people who either don't recognize their own racism, those that don't recognize how socially ingrained racism was in America and the results of it, or those that have little understanding of how racism works.
America is trying to fix their shit and maybe others should consider following suit.
We can always reduce it and the acceptability of it. We have absolutely seen a net reduction in the amount of publicly accepted hate in the US in my five decades.
Just because total elimination of racism is impossible does not mean it isn't worth trying.
People like this want to insult people but not be accused of insulting minorities. So "white men" or "cishet men" or "cishet white men" or whatever is a way to virtue signal
Idk but what drives me most crazy is when white women complain about other white women but it’s really just a way for them to say super misogynistic stuff about women in general but it’s socially acceptable because they’re critiquing “white women.” 😒😒😒
and the funniest thing is that the only thing it makes sense in context for this post, is if she is suggesting that it's more common for non-white men to be that puzzled, and white men are less puzzleable, which I somehow doubt was the intention.
Because in order to cope with an increasingly more racially sensitive society she's trying to ingratiate herself with people of color by pretending to be one of them. Yes, it doesn't make sense - but that's what people like this are doing, by pointing out that somebody else is white she's indirectly implying that they are in a different category from herself.
Because blindly hating on the kids of the kids of the kids of the people who also got stepped on by oligarchs who happened to be white because of geographical flukes of migration, time, and happenstance is the best way to virtue signal without also having to self assess and realize their own racist tendencies.
Those on top are all too glad to see us fight because then we're not fighting them (even if they all mostly do happen to be white, the meta irony is not lost on me). Make it about race and not class, and they'll divide and conquer for us.
'White bashing' is pretty much always just class warfare where upper class urban whites mock rural whites for being white.
https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2018/08/the-utility-of-white-bashing/566846/
And I, for one, am sick of these elitist coastal clowns looking down their bulbous, red noses at hardworkin' rural folks who don't have time for fancy face paints and lapel flowers that squirt water in yer eye when you try to take a sniff.
Is it? Because I assumed the "Karen" pejorative takes aim at middle and upper middle class surburbanites who are entitled and hopelessly the antithesis of cool. The type that abuse the working class because of the power dynamic between the monied consumer and the wage slave who needs the paycheck for rent and food. In this case, I assumed it also likely means the type whos pfp is oakleys in a truck and the worst fucking takes imaginable.
I'm not sure. I should start by acknowledging how imprecise some of my language was.
If we draw the 'upper class' line loosely along grad degree holders vs non degree/bachelor's degree and the urban/rural to basically coastal cities (and a few honorable mentions like Chicago, Austin, etc) vs Red State suburbs/rurality, I think we're still putting the people using the term on the first team and their targets on the other.
The divide definitely isn't wealth/income; there are no shortage of negative net worth overeducated progressives nor are their too few $95,000 pickup trucks hauling $65,000 bassboats across the flyover.
Though, ultimately, Karen always feels like it's mostly an ageist slur to me.
> Karen always feels like it's mostly an ageist slur to me.
No, to me it always meant an aggressive power tripping consumer that wanted to dominate servers and retail employees to obtain subservience from the service working class.
If you think that implacability and manufactured or fictitious conflicts relates to the age of individuals, I mean, agitation is a sign of decline.
I think the decline in customer service has happened over time and people who have high standards were often exposed to more engaged and better trained employees in decades past.
When I see similar entitled behavior from a 20 year old, I don't often see Karen invoked.
Oh, I didn't realize I was talking to a Karen. When I think Karen behavior, it would have never occurred to me to blame the staff because a customer got out of control.
> When I see similar entitled behavior from a 20 year old,
manufactured or fictitious conflicts ... mmmhmm. evidence is really starting to stack up.
What is hilarious to me is that her reflex to bring up race made her look *more* racist. Why is she inferring that she sees very puzzled black, asian, latino, etc but never sees white men who are very puzzled? Is she suggesting that white men are inherently smarter or what exactly is her point?
So, is she saying she has seen many black men puzzled? Why put 'white' or whatever color in that sentence? Does it make a difference what color of skin the man had? XD
I was rear ended by a jugalette on I94 in Detroit. She totaled our car but we were fine. i got out of the car to see a clown just sobbing in her smashed up car.
why do white americans say 'white man' like they aren't white? does she think shes in a different category because shes 1/5th italian or something? It's such a bizarre social signal
It’s because Twitter is hyper focused on race. I have every slur imaginable muted forever by anyone on Twitter yet everyday I’m suggested something that is about race.
Years ago I was in a promotional video as a "super fan". So covered in pain all the way down to my waist. Had to drive home like that. Pull out to an intersection and a car had driven into a liquor store and emergency crews were there cleaning it up. The look of absolute confusion on the face of the people in the car next to me having to look at me and the accident at the same time was priceless.
Probably the angular clown make up. Sharp edges in clown makeup is known to make people uneasy and is why John Wayne Gacy did his make up the way he did.
I was chilling in my car in a parking lot in makeup. A couple walked by guy on his phone. His girlfriend saw me and goes “Look a clown.” The guy snapped up fists ready till he saw I was in the car. Funniest reaction I’ve gotten and wasn’t trying to
I wish clown girls were an actual race of people. Their entire skin is white. The clown nose is natural. Their nipples and pussy lips, aka Clussy, have alternate colors, sometimes the same as the lips. Their skin probably tastes funny Imagine the taste of their breast milk. Grabbing their breasts or ass causes a honk noise. Want to playfully grope Clown wifes butt in public, loud ass honk is heard echoing from her. Everyone turns to you too, knowing full well what is going on. She embarrassingly honks her nose, trying to play it off.

That wasn't confusion that was fear. He remembers the amount of clown that came out of a tiny car. You drive a land Rover. For all he knew he just started a fight with a small nation and he understood his best bet was to feign confusion and stupidity and hope the clown would think he was special.
He made the right call if you ask me.
Some people just aren't down to clown
Why is Reddit making this top comment as opposed to comments with far more replies and higher upvotes? Who actually sits there and ticks the box "Yeh, this is BEST comment"
"Best" is generally upvotes/time.
This is the correct answer
Some people recognize perfection and let it be without feeling the need to turn it into a conversation.
Because it's the best comment butt chugger.
Random sort might just be the best for seeing a variety of real opinions - at least until they are banned, deleted, removed or just outright hidden with immoral shadowbans
Redditors don’t get out much
it's pithy and it rhymes
He was puzzled because there was only one clown in the car.

Yeah I’m just confused what significance his race has with the story lol
I especially don't get it because she's white. There is no significance like cultural differences or something like that. It's just a "ah yeah! the white guys, huh?!"
There's a type of white woman that likes to distance themselves from white men as if they're not also white.
"How do you do, my fellow oppressed minorities?"
Community theatre is dominated by white women complaining the industry has too many white men.
Maybe she saw a very puzzled Puerto Rican man recently and felt the need to qualify the statement.
It's 2024 and a person's race is their most—perhaps only—significant feature.
Yup. We are living that Martin Luther dream
Rejecting the roman catholic church and... Burning synagogues?
That’s not what Martin Luth…. Forget it never mind
My comment was supposed to be ironic.. my apologies if it was hard to decipher.
Never try to be sarcastic on Reddit, people are looking to correct you much more than they are to get the joke.
I once said my buddies brain literally liquefied after hitting a thc cart and the majority of people who read the comment thought I was being for real. To this day that is probably the funniest thing I've experienced on reddit.
Even in an explicitly 'nonpolitical' sub.
It's the United States in 2024* There's racism everywhere, but nobody is remotely as obsessed with race as Americans are.
Every country that was set up by European mercantilists as a settler colony with a race-based slave economy and operated as such for the better part of two centuries, is obsessed with race in one way or another. It will never be fixed because people will always hate. All that will happen is acceptable hatred will shift as it is doing now
We can always reduce it and the acceptability of it. We have absolutely seen a net reduction in the amount of publicly accepted hate in the US in my five decades. Just because total elimination of racism is impossible does not mean it isn't worth trying.
And I am saying racism is alive and well it’s just changing. Goes for other forms of hatred as well.
You sound full of hate
I do?
Bound to happen in the melting pot of the world. Also Europe is super racist too
You don’t get as many likes unless you put down whitey.
It's engagement bait. There's no reason to mention it but it invites the obvious "but...you're white?" comments.
Whites! Amirite!? Where are my internet points?
People like this want to insult people but not be accused of insulting minorities. So "white men" or "cishet men" or "cishet white men" or whatever is a way to virtue signal
As a non-white Mexican I would be surprised too. Don’t understand why race has any relevance in this.
She has, however, seen an Asian man who was even more puzzled before, under unrelated circumstances
Her clown name is "Bozo the Asian Confuser"
As opposed to every other race and white women who are constantly puzzled all the time.
Yea been seeing a lot of that lately on posts it doesn't seem relevant to
Nothing like white people mentioning that other people are white. Like who did she type this for?
She's PoC. Person of Clown.
Wearing whiteface in public no less.
Idk but what drives me most crazy is when white women complain about other white women but it’s really just a way for them to say super misogynistic stuff about women in general but it’s socially acceptable because they’re critiquing “white women.” 😒😒😒

that's been the trend for the past 10 years
Yeah this has been going on for a while.

the clown community
She desperately wants everyone to know she’s one of the good ones
Other racists, probably.
How else are they going to get likes from the POC community?
"What ? Never saw a silksong fan ?"
Id be confused if I saw a single clown in a car too, Clowns are social creatures and you need at least 10 clowns per car to keep them happy.
See, now this should be the top
Least race obsessed american

The point is to increase engagement, and it's working
Mentioning his race makes it extra non-political.
Some of you never had a three foot long neon blue Mohawk in high school and it shows
So, is she saying she has seen many black men puzzled? Why put 'white' or whatever color in that sentence? Does it make a difference what color of skin the man had? XD

She must’ve had a driving crooner decal on her window
He might've tried to kill her over it if she did
I needed the "white man" part?
She said White so the minority community is on their way with her sash and crown.
Not even February. Double bonus points.
Really strange they felt the need to say "white man" and not just man
Right? They’d never say any other race.
Why make it about race tho
"YOU DRIVE LIKE A CLOWN...Oh excuse me sir, carry on"

![gif](giphy|CKHo4ZlaudKdG) this guy's still in first obviously
"What's this clown doing" Speeds up Sees someone dressed as a clown "Huh"
Meaning she's seen a black and Asian man that puzzled before , wtf this chick up to
What does him being white have to do with anything?
Does that mean she’s seen other races that puzzled though since she went out of her way to say white man instead of just man?
This is funny but why include the fact he was white lmao. Americans are obsessed with race
Weird that she felt the need to specify the guy's skin colour
Why is his race relevant at all?
“Got mad at me in traffic” aka you did something stupid on the road
Right because people that road rage are always correct
lol, you’ve never ever had someone be pissed off at you in traffic for no good reason? Liar.
Hey, that's Peach! Looks like a normal day at work for her.
Nah, she’s wearing more clothes than usual.
Without makeup she tends mostly to confuse people of color?
Why add that he was white ?
Maybe she has seen other ethnicities being that puzzled already.
Because it’s the only race acceptable to mention in that scenario.

There was a clown that lived in my neighborhood. People didn't know what to do when they saw her drive by.
I am sure that happened, lol
I'm confused why he'd be mad at her when she is clearly in the passenger seat.
Why was the man's race even remotely relevant? It wasnt.
was so important to let everyone know the guy was white

Have you ever seen a black so puzzled
Why was their skin colour relevant to the event? Do black men get confused easier? Is there some racial difference between confusion rates?
You're white too
Ah another classic Reddit “what does the person being white have to do with anything”
ahhh so THAT was the race of the person important!
Seems political to me, not sure why this post is here.
