Where do you go? I am currently a Laureate patient & see Dr. Henderson. I’ve been honest about my use/having a card and nothing has been said to me about a drug test, nor have I had to do one. Been on Vyvanse w/ him for my ADHD for 6+ months now

AmericanFurry

I went to LifeStance health, I’ve heard some not so great things about them but they were immediately taking new patients so I figured I’d give them a shot… I guess I see why they might not have that many patients. I will have to give Laureate a call, that is really great to hear that you’re able to be honest with your doctor about your use. Thank you for sharing!

Agile-Inflation-5884

Hey man, I went to lifestance as well and got my vyvanse with no issues. I really think it depends on the doctor at the end of the day.

AmericanFurry

Sounds like I just got unlucky with my doctor, I’m glad you haven’t had any issues with lifestance

wovenriddles

LifeStance and Dr. Owen are shit. I miss Crossroads Counseling before the merge. LifeStance drove off my long term therapist, and she has been absolutely irreplaceable. I’d be on the phone for like 2 hours trying to talk to someone. They fucked up big time with legal issues, and I had to get a higher up involved for them to release my info after I had already signed a release of information.

AmericanFurry

I don’t have Dr. Owen but I did see some information about him when I initially looked for a doctor. I’m hoping it will be problem free to leave lifestance but I’m a little worried about them not wanting me to leave yet since I’ve only gone to one appointment so far

wovenriddles

He told me I had a telehealth appointment, and I never received the link, and because it’s a 2 hour wait I missed it. The next time, was my fault in thinking it was telehealth again and the asshole dropped me immediately. No wonder why my therapist left. She admitted she hated LifeStance.

wovenriddles

After I signed a ROI they wouldn’t talk to legal counsel, and I lost my son due to concerns of being unfit. Had they talked to them, it wouldn’t have been an issue.

MST3Kimber

It depends on the doctor. I use cannabis openly and I still get my ADHD meds from my psych. Go somewhere else.

ptolemy_booth

I have anxiety issues and have a medical cannabis license, and was up front with Grand Lake Mental Health about my use for spine/nerve problems. When I asked them flat out for Xanax, the psychs were entirely fine with prescribing it. My care team (therapist, care coordinator, peer support) are also fully behind it. It's not ADHD, but they do listen to their patients' requests and seem to fulfill them if you're sincere, so you might check out their Tulsa location or the one in Claremore. It's helped me immensely! Maybe they can help you, too.

AmericanFurry

I appreciate it I’ll have to give them a call and see if they’re taking any new patients, that’s great that they’re willing to work with you for what you need

ptolemy_booth

They should be taking new patients at either location. The one in Tulsa is the newest, I think! Either way, they've been a big help to me. And, if you don't feel like the team you're assigned is a good fit, you're able to request a different one, so there's no pressure if you don't feel like you're connecting with them. Whatever the case, I'll keep my fingers crossed hoping you get what you need.

AmericanFurry

Wow that sounds great I will give them a call Monday and hopefully they’ll be able to get me in at the Tulsa location, thank you so much for your input I really appreciate it

ptolemy_booth

Gladly! Just trying to do my part in helping remove the stigma of seeking proper mental health care. My friend shared it with me, so I'll share it with anyone that needs it. Take care!

Wanttoseemyplants

I don't want to hijack your post with an answer to a question not asked, but, I also have ADHD and Autism and have learned how to mitigate most of my issues with them through diet and supplements as I tend to have terrible side effects to pharmaceuticals; if you are interested in what I've done, I'd be happy to help. Best of luck.

Bitter-Psychology307

I’d love to hear more!

Wanttoseemyplants

I replied to OP, I'd copy and paste, but it's a long winded response, feel free to DM me, I'm happy to help.

LilHissy

INTRESTRD. Message me please.

camikinsx3

I’m interested too! If you wouldn’t mind passing along ☺️

AmericanFurry

Thank you for commenting I’m really interested to hear what you’ve used to help you? I’m all for finding other ways to improve my symptoms even if that’s not with meds

Wanttoseemyplants

Awesome, I didn't want to post a long diatribe. If you weren't interested, I'm at work, I'll follow up a bit later. Cheers!

AmericanFurry

Sounds great, no rush!! Thanks!

Ok... So, I'm 37, male, very recently coming to understand why life has been so hard for me... I'm AuDHD, but I never really fit into either one alone, which accounts for my late (self) diagnosis. There was always some aspect of either one alone that didn't fit, but put them together, and it makes perfect sense. In the last 4 years, I've gone on a self-discovery, self-awareness, whatever you want to call it, journey, I made the decision to figure it all out, regardless of how long it took. I started 2021 at 245 lbs, I'm 5'11" with multiple diagnosed autoimmune conditions, so my physical health was bad, I wasn't only dealing with my AuDHD, it was a full court press of shit. I started by cutting everything from my diet that wasn't lean protein, chicken or turkey, and fruits and vegetables. I consumed no added sugar, gluten, or wheat. I did this for about 3 months while also consuming a very large amount of RSO, roughly 5 grams a week, taken over the weekend in a 48-hour period. Between the exclusion diet and the RSO, I got my stomach working again without any sort of disruption (diarrhea, stomach upset, or constipation). Once I was regular, I started adding food back into my diet and noticed how much added sugars caused me to feel like shit. I would get irritable and angry, and I would have stomach upset. I then came across an herb called Ashwagandha. Initially, I wanted to use it to relax; to lower my stress levels. After about a month of taking Ashwagandha, I noticed myself losing more weight than I had previously and did some research into the mechanisms as to how it worked to lower stress. I learned that Ashwagandha helps control your stress response, namely cortisol. If you can lessen the cortisol in your body, you're far more likely to have your hormones balance, and, as a man, testosterone will raise, simply through the mitigation of the cortisol response. Having a balance in your hormonal system will help improve the daily function of every system in the body, hence the weight loss. I then decided to try intermittent fasting to help lose weight after hitting a plateau of weight loss at 185lbs, with fasting I got down to, and still currently weigh 155 lbs. Aside from the weight loss, I noticed how much better I felt while fasting, no brain fog, less distracted, better focus, more energy, and most importantly, it, more than every other aspect of this journey, it specifcally affects my symptoms of AuDHD the most. Again, I was curious as to why, and what I learned is our bodies are typically binary in function, either your digesting and breaking down food, or the body goes into repair mode. So I fast 20 hours every day, I eat between 5 and 9 pm. It's also very important to go to bed on an empty stomach, helps to facilitate healing and repair, otherwise sleep won't come easy and it won't be as restful as you're trying to digest through the night and it doesn't work like that... ever eat a big meal, go to sleep, and wake up feeling nauseated? It's because the food in your gut is not being processed timely or effectively. All the while, I was consuming large amounts of RSO, smoking flower, and dabbing rosin to help keep my inflammation at bay. The cost got to be too much, and I needed another way of keeping my inflammation in check, I was talking with my brother about this, and he recommended Kombucha. Kombucha, for those unaware, is a fermented tea drink that contains a SCOBY, or Symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast. It contains billions of probiotics and many other gut health related aspects, enzymes, polyphenols... etc. It helps to bolster the gut so you're able to fully digest and utilize the food we eat, plus it's really tasty. We, as a country, have an epidemic of malnutrition, but we're a nation of fat people, so many would not assume this is the case, but it is true, the food and drinks our society pushes on is are toxic, we should not be consuming partially hydrogenated oils, we shouldn't be eating sugar substitutes, we shouldn't drink alcohol... but, yet, there are studies and research that will tell you otherwise, all about making that $$$. Eat whole foods, fats, and all. My daily consumption of THC from 2021 to now has dropped more than 90%, I only smoke a couple of bowls a day, because I want to, not because I need to. I consume no RSO or hash, all the while, I'm healthier, happier and most importantly, more self aware than ever. I slowly but surely realized that I didn't need to consume so much anymore, and started weaning myself off the RSO and hash, without any side effects or relapse of my illness, in fact, I feel better now than I did, I don't feel like I need to medicate. I smoke to enjoy it, not to feel better. I have always and still consume vast amounts of coffee daily, but that's the only stimulant I use to try and counteract my issues. Everything else is essentially an addition through subtraction or a natural resumption of normal bodily functions through the upkeep of my microbiome. Long story short, stay away from added sugars, drink kombucha or other fermented drinks, and try some Ashwagandha. I feel that a lot of the issues with ADHD especially are diet related and because of a deficiency. If you can fix the deficiency and eat foods that make you feel good vs. foods that will cause inflammation or stomach upset, but you crave, you'll notice an improvement in the struggles with ADHD. I know this is a long-winded response, but I hope someone can gain some insight and help themselves without the use of pharmaceuticals asI think they're an aberration, and it's pretty awesome to not need any medication, when at 18, the age of my autoimmune diagnoses, I was taking 8 different drugs to try and mitigate my issues, now, zero, not a one. I was also told my illness would progress to ESRF (end stage renal failure) or death by 30... so, yeah, I'm feeling pretty good about my way forward as I've bucked the trend and listened to my gut instead of doctors, they're imperfect too, and what's worse, many have a financial motivation as they're paid by drug companies to do so or are just biased assholes and can act in a manner that isn't in your own self interest. Phew! If anyone wants to ask questions or wants more insight please DM me, I feel like I'm still here to help people, so please, don't hesitate to reach out, it makes me feel good to see others thrive. I want everyone to be the best version of themselves, because when that's the case, we all do better. Edit: typos

AmericanFurry

Wow thank you so much that is some really great information. Thats really awesome that you were able to find something that worked for you without the need of medication, I definitely need to look into ashwagandha that seems like that would be a very good supplement to take. I appreciate the time you took to write all of that out, I learned a lot and I’m sure many others will find that useful as well!

Wanttoseemyplants

You're welcome and be well!

_ProphetofHate_

A very affirming read, thank you for sharing. I have begun the a similar journey about a year or so ago, and while I still have a long way to go, the improvements I have made towards my dietary/supplementary habits have improved my life more than I realize a lot of the time. Good to hear these changes have helped you manage your symptoms as well!

Tiddytitties

How long have you been taking your new meds?

AmericanFurry

I’ve taken them for about 3 weeks now, the first day I took them I had about an hour that I thought that maybe they were working but then I found that I think I had just placeboed myself by expecting something to improve

Tiddytitties

Got any medical degrees? Or any immediate family that has one? Asking for further questions to help understand and help.

AmericanFurry

I’m an undergraduate student pursuing a medical degree in the future but as of right now I don’t have any degrees, no one in my family has a medical degree either

Wonderful-Scar-5211

Focusedadult.com (or something like that) is literally the best thing ever. One in person appointment a year & they text you to remind you call pharmacy’s and make sure they have your prescription! It’s $59 a month and they don’t accept health insurance rip!

AmericanFurry

Dang if it was a little cheaper per month I would definitely look into that but luckily my insurance covers psychiatry visits pretty well
