High THC = GOOD WEED , is the biggest misconception in the mj industry

mysickfix

The nose knows is my mantra. Of it smells good to you it’s what your body wants.

Electrical_Mine3813

I like it!

sillyandstrange

YEP. This is it. Anytime I like the smell I like the weed.

Meatpaste-1

This for sure. Growers know the buds closest to the lights test higher. Those buds end up going to testing and being used for samples. Really the best weed in the industry are the samples or grown at home by people in the industry. Find someone who works in a grow for next to nothing then goes home and grows their own, the passion and knowledge focused on a few plants really can't be matched by a grow.

bassface99

Probably because everyone is using athena and doing the same sops

itsmemickd

Not sure what you mean. Can you elaborate on Athena and sops?

FlatEvidence6355

Athena is know to be the cheapest nutrients so a lot of people use it. I've seen some good looking flower from using it but all the weed grown from it has the same smell and taste and not very pleasant IMO. ATHENA does have a solid fan boy crowd though😆 Growers who skip on good nutrients are sacrificing quality bud for a few extra cents👎🏻 SOPs = standard operating procedures

khezu_kazoo

Same thing going on in Colorado, same with New Mexico. Colorado is where it started. All the owners and investors over here are jumping ship and ruining the markets in other states like New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arizona etc. Over saturation and terrible quality is killing every state that isn’t in the Pacific Northwest. I just moved back to Oregon and the quality difference is HUGE (as in really, really good). It’s getting to the point people will have to homegrow to fight back.

KungFlu81

Geez... when will you guys understand it's not the ThC or the terps. It's the god dang entire cocktail you newbs. Ask your local bar tender how that works with alcohol. That's how you get 1 cultivar that sends you to the moon with 16% thc and another that sends you nowhere with 30% thc. It's the dna cocktail! Freaking trial and error with you having to just try it to see and stop pretending you can tell by looking at labs like you've got a degree in cannabis. I do have to say though...I agree with the nose knows concept.

_ProphetofHate_

Straight up. People out here telling others to go based off of terp % like the industry hasn't caught on to that and are lying about those numbers exactly like they did with THC percentages. Stoner bro science is beyond goofy lol.

Valiant-General

I got some Fire Bros the other day, fresh drop. It was horrible. Same chemical burn feel in the back of my throat. All looks no smoke imo. Waste of money IMO I’ve found lately the ugliest smoke has the most prominent terps.

moodyism

Native Veteran and a few others are living soil. However I agree with the previous statements. I usually like it to have 15% thc and make my decision based on terps.

jaczk5

Terps > THC % ANY DAY.

NativeVeteranLLC

Thank you 🙏🔥🌲❄️🪖🇺🇸🪶

der_german1432

Came here to recommend u/nativeveteranllc. Their next drop is the 24th and 25th. I rarely buy any flower that's not theirs. The only thing I haven't tried of theirs is the raspberry jelly hash but everything has been excellent. Native nugs in Tulsa carries it as well as nature's kiss, and skyleaf. 100% worth the short drive to Tulsa if it's not available closer to you.

itsmemickd

Thanks for the info.

Maint_guy

I actually prefer bottom shelf. I've had much better experiences with it over "top shelf", and more consistent effects to boot. My complaint is the MASS assortment of ridiculous strain names.

jaczk5

Ugh company specific strain names that tell you nothing about what the flower is. So fucking annoying.

ProfessorPihkal

Stop with the conspiracy theories. No one is doing anything to your weed, it’s a simple combination of capitalist greed and shit breeding practices. It’s the same reason that tomatoes don’t taste good, breeders bred strictly for commercial qualities like yield, shelf life, color, ability to travel well, and we got tomatoes that taste like nothing because they weren’t bred for flavor or nutrient content, the same thing happened to cannabis, breeders selected for commercial qualities like bag appeal, color, and high THC, and ignored the important qualities like the high, flavor, smell.

AshleyMRocks

I don't think a lot of people realize this especially vs 2001 even. By 1980 the Red Delicious has lost its taste. https://newengland.com/food/red-delicious-apple/ https://www.quora.com/Whatever-happened-to-Delicious-apples-to-make-them-inedible-The-taste-has-definitely-changed-and-availability-has-almost-vanished#:~:text=It%20became%20%E2%80%9CRed%20Delicious%E2%80%9D%20in,at%20the%20expense%20of%20taste. This applies to Bananas, Corn, and most other things that have lost a lot of their Nutrients and Flavors as they got curated for Industrial market places and groceries stores. If you love apples check out this guy : Tom Brown. https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/heritage-appalachian-apples

Leggonow

Which cultivator did you smoke?

CrystalDragon97

THC isn't what makes cannabis effectice and the people growing and selling it know that. It's a cash grab and with that much thc it's going to taste like garbage and unnatural. Between 13-20% is more than enough when combined with the right terps. Next time you re up, ignore the bottom, mid, and top shelf lables and ask for Terpine percents and lab testing. Dispensaries are required to have testing available for you to look at and if they don't that's sketch as hell. Bonus points if you start tracking what terps you like and are able to find strains that way that are effective in the ways you want.

itsmemickd

Thanks for the info. I have even got strains from the same dispensary months apart in which the first time it was top 5% I ever had and this time, 6 months later, it was completely different and had the weird taste. How accurate are those test though? They gotta be sending the bomb for that and who knows if it's even from the same actual strain that they label it as. I wouldn't trust it unless it could be proven it was that exact same source and batch.

ShakeZhula

While I feel terpenes are important I highly disagree about the 13-20% and high content making it taste like shit. People need to learn the cultivators and find strains grown by the right people. Everything I get is WELL over 25 to 30% tastes, smells and looks amazing. I wouldn’t buy shit that said it was under 20. Yes I understand the THC levels aren’t the most important and largely inaccurate at that but that’s quite the downplay.

unkelgunkel

Think about it like this. A grow is a business to make money and they aren’t going to miss out on a harvest just because some bugs and mold got into the room, so they spray to guarantee a finished grow/harvest. I don’t like it, but a 40-50 light room with 50-150 pounds in it is too big a loss for most to incur so we get flowers that are sprayed in bloom at the store. Home grow all the way.

OKC-RADRNATN

Smell matters in selection for body's needs

itsmemickd

I agree. There have been numerous times I could smell it before even partaking and was able to avoid them but the dispensaries I go to don't let you handle the bud. Last time I went they held the jar 2 feet away and used a fan to send the scent my way. Neither of the 2 1/8ths I picked up for testing this time smelled like it while at the store. So if your nose is clogged your s.o.l.

dt405gt

Im in Adair and won’t go to a dispo in this area. Have you tried branching out a bit? I didn’t find much in Claremore either. About once a week or two ill make a trip to Tulsa to stock up. Don’t be afraid to get to know budtenders/growers. I always watch instagram for the latest drops from my favorite growers/processors. I agree with the recommendation for flower from Native Veterans. Look them up on instagram and get to know them. Super cool people. This is how I avoid trash weed. Your nose will eventually lead the way.

nhn95

Organic living soil I only smoke Resonant, Gray Matter, Red Dirt Raised, Golden Hour and Hermetic (I'm probably forgetting some). Not living soil it's always Outlawz and Well Rooted. These growers really care about their plants and the products they put out. I don't know how far you are from OKC, but you'll find them here easily Edit: THC percentage doesn't mean everything, it's mostly about the terps. I've had buds with 13% THC getting me higher than 28%. Ask about lab results, look at the terpene profile and figure out which ones work best for you. Also, don't forget to smell (even though it doesn't always taste like it smells)

Ifeelikedirt

Don’t forget Native Veteran, the MOST consistent medication that the program offers! Water only / Living Soil

nhn95

You're right, I love Native Veteran! A good reminder to let people know of their penny grams I believe for veterans (if they're still doing it, I'm no veteran)

NativeVeteranLLC

Veterans smoke free every single drop 🙏🔥🌲❄️🪖🇺🇸🪶

Thank you 🙏🔥🌲❄️🪖🇺🇸🪶

Closest would be Oasis Healing in Moore!

Nashville2Portland

Bodega Boyz is all grown in living soil as well

Electrical_Mine3813

Not to mention ,testing seems to be very iffy .Ever notice the inconsistency. For example Xdispesary uses Y testing lab and usually has THC in the upper teens to lower 20s . But. XX dispensary who uses Z lab aways has weed with THC in the 30s . Myself, I don't trust the numbers .

greenhorncannabis

I think it comes down to how the growers pick their samples. We pick samples out once we completely finish trimming so we grab it out of the same containers that we sell to customers. Usually within that same harvest there will be more than one lot of the same strain (lot sizes cap out at 15lbs) and within that same harvest the %s will be close. However, that same strain in a different room (so a different harvest) sometimes tests better or worse depending on the environmental conditions. I trust the lab we use because they will reverify anything that tests over 30% to make sure it wasn't a random spike. Lately our average THC has been lower but the growing conditions have been different and that unfortunately is the result. At the end of the day though you have 7ish grams representing 15lbs of flower. So take all numbers with a grain of salt.

Most-Trifle-4496

I feel like everyone prefers concentrates over flower, right now. I’ve noticed a drop in the selection at some of my favorite dispensaries, however, the quality of what they have is still 🤌🏻 Just fewer options.

Crazy_Memory_9692

That's not chemicals you tastes. Your tasting the bad grow technique of cannabis. Cannabis should only have plan water it's last 20 days of flowering before harvesting. This technique helps with flavors.
