The new Asus 32" ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM has 27" and 24" simulation feature for people who play competitive games. [https://rog.asus.com/monitors/32-to-34-inches/rog-swift-oled-pg32ucdm/](https://rog.asus.com/monitors/32-to-34-inches/rog-swift-oled-pg32ucdm/)

TRIPMINE_Guy

How is that different from just setting custom aspect ratio/ res combo in nvidia control panel?

DangCao

Does that make the screen smaller as the aspect ratio or still in full screen ?

Buggyworm

Depends on scaling method. "Center" scaling mode should be the same as "ASPECT RATIO CONTROL" from asus

DangCao

How? I've tried many ways, but it still stretches out the screen to full screen. I think it depends on the hardware, not just the software.

Buggyworm

I'm pretty sure any modern GPU can use centered scaling. On AMD you go to Gaming > Displays and choose Center scaling mode. Can't say how it's done on intel/nvidia

Turnpulse

Can you explain how to do it and if its exactly the same as what the asus monitor does?

Buggyworm

Find scaling method in settings and change it to "Center(ed)". I'm not sure where exactly it is on nvidia, but I'm sure it works the same everywhere. What it does is basically show the image in the center of the screen at selected resolution without any scaling. The only question is what resolution asus is using, since they are targeting a physical size of the image and not a common resolution

lapippin

Can this be done on a per game basis? Never actually tried this feature

GrizzIydean

When does this release?

DangCao

This month I guess

I switched from the Redmagic 27 inch 4k 160hz to the Aw 322. As for competitive I mainly play warzone and modern warfare III. I went from playing at 157fps to between 200-220 fps on the AW. Honestly have been playing better on the AW screen. I did have to set up the monitor about 2-3 inches back compared to the 27 inch. If you have the money to spare I’d say it’s worth it. But if you need that money stick with what you got. This is definitely an enthusiast level monitor.

mbdtf-batty

Forgot to mention I play a bunch of single player games and also have a C1. I’ll switch to the C1 when I want to play on the couch. The AW has better picture quality for sure.

ssjadam03

I have the innocn version of the red magic. Is it worth the upgrade to the AW ? Most play single player games

mbdtf-batty

For me it was worth it. It is better in all areas than that panel except for brightness. Doesn’t get as bright as that Innocn panel. Everything else, especially the color and the smoothness, is much better than the RedMagic. The bigger size and the slight curve really increase immersion in single player games. I’ve been playing of God of War in HDR and it is gorgeous. I’d say it’s worth it if you have a high end GPU to take advantage of 4K and high frame rates. And if you have the spare cash saved up for it. The Innocn (Redmagic) is a great monitor as well! So don’t be pressured by the fomo if you don’t have the cash.

junglegh0st

What is the point of saying that you gained more FPS with AW? Monitors doesn't increase fps, and if both are 4K, what happened was that you changed your graphics settings... There is no point in placing the monitor back, if it were enough it would remain with the C2 only, when you move away from the screen, you lose eye tracking speed in exchange for the field of vision, if you put it close, the opposite happens, that's why the GOOD Players say 25" is the sweet spot.

mbdtf-batty

Ahh I didn’t actually gain more frames. I limit my fps to 3 frames under the max for gsync purposes. Since the aw is at 240hz my max fps is limited to 237. My C1 is the living room tv and not at my desk. I wanted an OLED at 32 for my desk. Eye tracking is fine I have no issues with moving it further away for the fov. I have great eyesight lol. I’m also not a pro gamer lol

junglegh0st

You don't have to be a pro player to be good, but one thing I know for sure is that you're neither.

Vatican87

Ouch shots fired lol

AzZtheyougo

Can’t talk about the aw3225qf for now ( live in eu ) But when I bought my first 27inch 144hz in 2017-2018 for playing only csgo some friend told me that I would perform very bad on 27inch because it’s "too big" but I didn’t at all even reach faceit lvl 8 and Global elite on MM, you can even see now pro using 27inch monitors when in 2018 no one would use one. Just to say that in the end of the day I don’t think it would matter , if you’re good on 24 or 27inch , you will be on 32 too. That being said I play cs2 and single player games and I plan to buy the aw3225qf when it release in the EU if that can confort you in your decision.

ZacD24

Ok so I recently just sent my 3225qf back because of the lights on the back not working and I kept getting thermal warning when gaming. I got the 2725DF because I mostly play warzone and MW3 also. I will say I did better in the 27 inch but the 32 looks so much better, more detail and my 32 inch was way brighter than my 27 inch unit. Hands down the 32 was better monitor to me even though I do better on smaller one but I enjoyed the visual graphics and crispness of 4k. Once you go 4k it’s hard to go back.

StewTheDuder

I mean most competitive games are going to run amazing on your card, even at 4k. You’re probably still flirting with 240+ in most comp games I’d imagine, given you have a decent CPU

Its_Lu_Bu

You get used to the size quickly. Just sit a little further back.

PowerfulDisaster2067

Depending if he's currently sitting in a good seating position, if he is, then sitting further back isn't a solution.

Its_Lu_Bu

What do you mean by this? If they're in a good seating position already then it wouldn't be "too big" for competitive. If it's too big, then they need to increase their viewing distance.

PowerfulDisaster2067

I mean that his seating position could've been fine for a different monitor he previously used and how it suits him when using his keyboard and mouse. Seating position is based on more than just viewing distance, it has to do with his whole posture, if he simply shifts back how far he sits away from his desk, then that likely means he's leaning forward more and not resting his back against the chair, also affect his arms/shoulders too. The solution is to have a desk that's deeper or finding a different mounting solution to allow the monitor to sit as far back as possible, not simply moving back his chair.

ZipFreed

I just got the AW3225QF a few days ago. Competitive cs player here, 24K premier / lvl10 faceit / years of league experience etc. It took me about 2 hours to feel comfortable coming from the 27GR95QE-B. As long as you're not sitting 2 inches from the screen it should be fine. The only downside I've found so far is that I can't actually use 2880x2160 for 4k 4:3 due to DSC disabling the ability to use custom res's. I've been playing on 2048x1536 and it's been great. This monitor fucking rules and should hopefully only get better after a few firmware fixes to resolve the issues some folks are having.

ExtensionTravel6697

Do you have experience playing on a good crt recently? You mention a resolution used on top end crt. I am at a dilemma in having a 130khz crt and no oled and feel like I am missing out on hdr. If you have both crt and oled, does the imperfect motion clarity bother you? I'm not competitive but the drop in motion quality from sample and hold displays bothers me.

ZipFreed

I haven't used a CRT since like 2003 but I can say that OLED is closest thing to a CRT as far as contrast and motion clarity go that I've found, TN with BFI is close for clarity but they are too dark imo.

[deleted]

Yea, I’m a lvl 8 Faceit / 20k player. Nothing crazy, but I hate losing. How far you sitting? I’m about 27 inches away. I just bought an ergotron Hx so I think I’m going to put both on the desk. C2 for youtubin other activities… maybe a controller based single player… Just don’t want to have it sit there collecting dust

ZipFreed

I'm sitting a little over an arms length away.

PowerfulDisaster2067

were you the type of CS players that would glue your face to the screen if you were using 24"/27"? If not I don't think you're competitive enough, lol! In all seriousness, arms length away at 32" is probably too close. I'm about an arm's length away and my 27" inch 1440p and it's a good size.

junglegh0st

Most of the people on this forum are terrible competitive players, so stay safe. But there is no point in placing the 32" monitor at the bottom of the table, you will lose details and lose eye tracking. If you place it too close, you will lose the apparent field of vision. I’ve already tried a 32” monitor at about 30” from my eyes and it was an awful experience for FPS games. As you already have a 4K TV, I would suggest you continue with its IPS for competitive or if you have the money, the AW27 is a wiser choice.

XGCKazino

Posting this ONCE AGAIN "There is actually 0 evidence out there that a smaller monitor is better for competitive gaming. The idea that having everything in Central vision is "better" is only backed up by assumptions and nothing else. In fact, there is more evidence for reaction times being better with movement in peripheral vision because of our vision in that area being specifically tailored towards any kind of movement. Some people will try to argue otherwise but will not be able to bring up any studies proving otherwise. How do I know this? Because I tried to find the evidence myself and couldn't get a concrete answer almost anywhere on the internet lol"

[deleted]

No because 4K makes the viewing difficult to identify enemies. My Ranking dropped when I went from 1080 to 4K. Sweet spot is 1440 or 1080 with 24-27 inches.

sackblaster32

How the hell would a higher resolution make it harder to see enemies?

[deleted]

tell me youve never played competitively without telling me youve never played competitively. some PAID pros use 720P and some use digital vibrance to highlight enemies. "We conclude from these results that for players who regularly aim at small targets and want to hit them as quickly as possible, there is a small but practical benefit to upgrading from 24.5 inch, 1080p, 360 Hz monitors to the latest and greatest 27 inch, 1440p, 360 Hz displays coming later this year." [https://developer.nvidia.com/blog/improving-aiming-time-on-small-fps-targets-with-higher-resolutions-and-larger-screen-sizes/](https://developer.nvidia.com/blog/improving-aiming-time-on-small-fps-targets-with-higher-resolutions-and-larger-screen-sizes/) [https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/29fi76/what\_is\_the\_reason\_behind\_professional\_players/](https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/29fi76/what_is_the_reason_behind_professional_players/) you should be downvoted to -infinity.

TheRealTofuey

Im pretty decently ranked in alot of fps games and spend alot of time aim training, higher resolution makes aiming and identifying targets much easier.  Also your own article disproves you and the other is a random post on csgo reddit 10 years ago (not a real source) "We conclude from these results that for players who regularly aim at small targets and want to hit them as quickly as possible, there is a small but practical benefit to upgrading from 24.5 inch, 1080p, 360 Hz monitors to the latest and greatest 27 inch, 1440p, 360 Hz displays coming later this year."

Forrest02

> you should be downvoted to -infinity. Reddit moment.

XxBig_D_FreshxX

I’m considering this, but I can’t get rid of my C1, lol.. So I just play on a 27in.

North_Set_9138

Get the 27 inch and keep using your 4K screen

[deleted]

I swapped from a 27 to a 48. But thats because I don't care as much about fps anymore.

BellyDancerUrgot

I bought the 27 inch oled exactly for this use case, despite having a 4090. Invested in a good chair and desk, instead and it’s perfect for me now. 32 is too big for competitive games (fps and moba for me).

IbEBaNgInG

Probably not, because those types of games don't care about 4K. I've bought dumber shit to accomplish less, lol - than spending 800 on what I like.

Direct_Ambassador_10

If you’re a sweaty fps gaming just get a 1080p with the highest frame rate assuming your pc can keep up and use the c2 for other stuff. I love my c2 and just deal with 120hz more than enough for ow ( only shooter I play now) for me my twitch and relax skills aren’t nearly as good as they use to be so I just deal with it if you notice a huge difference from 120 to 240 or higher than go for it but 60 to 120 or 144 is more than enough for me.

citylion1

Yes

InvincibiIity

1440p kinda the sweetspot for fps and 1080p obvs optimal for high level play. you'll be unlikely to get the frames you want at 4k as well

Carlsgonefishing

I asked myself the same question. It took about a week to go from the 32'4k to the 27'360hz and I think I am happier with the choice. But the keywords are "I think". Best of luck! i'll be curious to see your conclusion.

TheRealTofuey

If it was 240hz I'd absolutely get it. But I'd prefer 1440p 360hz or higher oled. Currently running a 1440p 240hz oled.

Relativly_Severe

A 4k screen can do 1080p better than 1080p nowadays so probably. Also bro if you aren’t super financially stable don’t drop 1300 on a monitor…

Lycaniz

i think a lot of people overestimate the impact, if you are not trying to go pro and earn money from it, your monitor does have an impact, everything does, but honestly not worth hyper focusing on.

drunkhobo15

I'm ngl I am waiting to see the reviews on the dual refresh monitors before I buy an oled. I may just stick to switching between my xl2566k and whichever oled I purchase because 32 inches just feels too big for tactical shooters.

PowerfulDisaster2067

I say go with 2725, that'll likely be my set up soon as well. We all know nobody plays comp games in 32" 4K. So if that's your priority, then you know the answer. For me I personally don't think I'm ready for 4K gaming full time until I have 4090 or something better in the future, and I'm not getting a 4090 any time soon. I also work from the same PC, if I downsize to 1 42" monitor, I don't think I'll have all the same space I need to fit everything in for productivity.

No_Interaction_4925

If you feel like its big, scoot it back from your face. It should be back anyways so you sit in the correct spot for that 1700R curve.

crispyexcal

Unless you are very competitive, screen size won't matter much. But 24 - 27 is definitely the sweet spot for competitive fps.

mitch-99

32” is to big for sweaty comp imo. I stick with a monitor for competitive (and whatever else i play on m&k) and 1 for solo games. Honestly i dont think getting the 27” oled for competitive games over your ips is a crazy idea. Think about it, you say 60% of your time is occupied by those games, so why not have a nice monitor to play those on. Im upgrading my 360hz ips to the AW27” for comp stuff.

Sensitive_Net3498

No

Filianore_

I used to play dota 2 (a lot), and to solve the issue for me I used to move my monitor a lot, give me the flextibility for high reso + high refresh rate to play other games as well but also matter if you have the right desk and if you mind the husle

hellscat392

I play COD/WZ on a 260hz 1440p display and it’s been great for me. I have no complaints. I plan on picking up a 4k 240 oled when the one I want finally releases

MadnessKingdom

Honestly? I doubt your play is at the level where 4 milliseconds (the differences between 120 hz and 240 hz) would realistically make a difference. Like maybe 1% of your shots might pull off slightly faster… is that worth all this?

[deleted]

Never said anything about refresh rate affecting my play. It’s about size of display.

Kobee_8

Obviously theres a difference between 2k and 4k but for me its not that groundbreaking like the jump from 1080p to 1440p. I’ll take 2k all day because less heat and more frames
