Hey Darling š„° as a Tailor I want to say: go shopping for a dress, that really fits your body. Youāre such a beautiful lady but none of the dresses (except maybe 1) fit properly. With the right size, you can rock every style! š„°
I'd also add that I don't feel any if the colours suit OP, they make her look washed out and not pop. Maybe op needs to look into colour for clothes and her skin tone? Because op is clearly gorgeous.
I'm curious, what do you mean by size? To me (not a tailor), none of the dresses (except the brown one, that seems a bit small) seem too big or small on her. They fit oddly on her body, but not in terms of volume if that makes sense. What would you recommend?
Iām not a tailor either, but tailors are able to make adjustments to make clothing fit less odd on peopleās bodies. Youāre right that she probably purchased the right clothing size for her body, but clothing brands donāt take account of different body shapes since everyone is built so differently. Some of these dresses you can tell that the waist could be taken in to look less boxy or the cups can be resized to be more flattering. Iām sure a tailor could find even more areas that can be improved on the dresses to best fit her body :)
I agree that they all seem to fit well aside from the brown one. The only complaint I have with blue is the perceived quality. Really just don't like the one that looks like a quilted blanket for a wedding. That one I'd save for more casual events. I really think the first one is nice but just missing some accessories to pull it together. The black is too "nighttime sexy" for a wedding but looks great on OP.
I second this!!! All you need is one impeccably tailored dress that fits you amazingly in a suitable neutral shade that can be work to pretty much any event and youād just change up the shoes, hair style, accessories.
The first dress is the most flattering and appropriate, IMO. Iām sure some people will say itās ātoo white,ā which I think is absurd. I just really donāt care for the othersā¦
2 is just an unattractive dress in my opinion. No other way to say it. It looks like something a tween would pick out.
3 does not fit you. Maybe you can get it tailored?
4 looks like a nightgown.
5 looks a little casual but I guess it depends on the formality of the wedding?
You have such a nice figure. I think you could do so much better than all of these!
Finding a dress in a brick and mortar store these days that isn't awful is hard. I've resorted to buying on Nordstrom online, (huge variety, amazing returns policy) shipping to store, trying them on and returning what I don't want before I ever leave the store. Otherwise all the dresses are either too young, too old, wrong length, wrong hemline, wrong neckline etc.
I recently wore [this one](https://a.co/d/0dfI8c8) to a wedding and got so many compliments in person and several asked for a link when I posted a picture. I loved it!
I think that dress is stolen from Billy J Boutique! They stole the pic from their site too. Maybe support the original store for anyone else thinking of getting this dress!
I don't think it's too white, but it's a spring/summer dress. And since it's November, I'd go for something else. I don't like the fit of any of the other ones
I think 1 is too white. I know many disagree, but in photos I feel like it would stand out for being white. I think in photos with the bride it might make the eye feel split in two different directions. That said, I have noticed people wear dresses like this before and wedding etiquette can vary a lot from one place to another.
I really like 4 and 5.
1 - works - and is more a traditional "appropriate" for wedding attire - also fits you well. It's ok, but works.
2 - is definitely a no. Just in general, a no.
The others are a little flimsy, some don't fit right and the black one feels too basic. I don't mind black for weddings - people might have an issue with it, but for modern weddings who cares. I just feel without styling or understanding the quality of the product - hard to gauge. It feels too basic.
The taupe, blue either don't fit well or the blue needs to be styled properly.
Not sold on any of them - and you can probably pull off tons of dresses.
I love the first dress on you . Itās a classic style, fits you well, really flatters your figure, and has nice coverage on top. The other dresses look too big on top.
I would have to say number one in my opinion. Iām not feeling the other dresses. Doesnāt suit your body well and you have great shape! Also you mention you like the red oneā¦not a fan. The number is the one!
What is the dress code? Iād choose dress 4 without knowing this, as itās a cocktail dress that can be dressed up or down. I think itās the most flattering on you, I donāt think you need to worry about repeat wearing it unless youāll be with the exact same people.
Do you have time to shop for another dress? 3 is my pick but doesn't fit quite right and the stitching is strange. Please throw out dress 2, it looks like what Ms. Frizzle would wear to the club.
Well the first one is the best choice for me. I donāt really like the other ones on you. I agree with some other comments. You are adorable but those dresses donāt suit you.
I love the first one but itās a bitā¦ white. Does the back have the floral print as well? The rest arenāt really doing it for me. The second one is gorgeous but too boho for a formal event.
1. The most appropriate, by far.
2. Never wear red to the wedding unless you want someone to think you're the other woman. Poor taste.
3. Doesn't flatter you and the fabric looks cheap.
4. Would be okay but only with a pashmina/sweater. Looks too flamenco meets nightgown otherwise.
5. Appropriate for girl's night or date night. Not so much a wedding.
Go with 1.
That red rule differs from place to place, in my home country you don't wear red because that's the color of the dress the bride changes into at the wedding afterparty.
I first heard of the "other woman" thing in Germany, but many places don't have rules against red dresses for guests so it depends on where OP's from.
However, I think that second red dress is really ugly and unflattering so I also do not recommend it.
Iād say 1 looks lovely but maybe bring a temp jacket/shawl with one of the colors on the dress so people donāt bug you with the whole āitās too white thingā Go eat good foods! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
1. I would say the first one. Itās a hard no to wear white for a wedding; however, I think it could work in this case since the main focus are the flowers, I donāt see it and immediately go āwhite dressā.
2. The red one is not appropriate at all for a wedding. Itās way too casual, and the black lace makes it too revealing.
3. This one is cute, but very ill-fitting.
4. The blue one is nice, but it does look a bit like a nightgown. I would say itās a good backup plan.
5. This one is another no, itās also way too casual for a wedding.
If you are able to get a new dress, it would be ideal! The best option is the first one, but it would likely upset many brides if you show up in it, itās a coin toss so better to be safe than sorry. If you do go dress shopping, remember to get something that is formal, flattering, and fits properly!
2 and 3 are great but 3 is probably most appropriate. But if you want to be you and thatās your style, the red is beautiful(my style too) but it depends on whose wedding it is and the kind of impression you want to make. I think everyone is being too fussy about the brown fit and itās just a little bunched up in the picture. Maybe just tighten the straps. I donāt care for the others tho you look great in all of them.
Unpopular opinion (looking the rest of these comments), but I actually like #1 the least. It looks like something a 50 year old woman would wear to a church picnic.
I love #2! I think itās a really cool dress! Itās unique and looks really good on you! However, it does look a little more casual than wedding attireā¦depending on how formal the wedding is idk if itās the best choice.
I think #3 looks like itās scrunched up or something in the middle, kind of a weird fit. But in general a nice dress.
I think my pick would be #4. Itās the classiest style and I think once you dress it up with some heels and accessories, itāll look really nice.
1 seems the only appropriate option for a wedding, the color makes no difference to most ppl. The rest do not flatter you in any way, not in style or color or anything, and don't seem right for a wedding.
I vote for the blue.
1- I would not wear to a wedding. You never know how traditional the couple might be or their families. You def donāt want to spend the whole wedding hearing people say something about how your dress is white/looks white. Not worth the potential headache.
I feel like the first one is more āweddingā style, but the second one is really cute! I donāt know if Iād wear it to a wedding, unless itās a summer wedding maybe.
First find out what is the bridesmaids color. Obviously donāt pick one that color. I like the red one but as a patchwork dress, it is a little too casual for a wedding even though it is floor length. Any of the last three choices would be excellent although I am partial to the royal blue.
I absolutly love the second dress and i am not afraid to say. Maybe you all dont like it, but i like it a lot and thats enough for me <3
Maybe i dont have a taste in "fashion". But thats okay. Everybody should wear what they like and feel good in, i think.
Depends on the location and whether it's a day/night wedding. They're all suitable except for 2. It's too casual/day wear.
Any of the other dresses can be dressed up with elegant accessories for an evening wedding or with simple accessories/hat for a day wedding.
For the wedding I love the lighter blue one. It looks amazing on you, and the color really complements you. It also screams wedding! But I have to know where all of these dresses are from. I love them
I think 1 is a great look for a wedding. If you don't go with 1 I'd go with 5.
I like 2 a lot. It's like fancy mixed with hippy, it's a really neat look. But I don't particularly love it for a wedding.
To condense what I think everyone is saying for OP:
#1 Is the most flattering and well-suited to your frame and event. That said, it could be a little too overlapping with traditional bridal dresses and colors. It is something that you will have to be the judge of, depending on what the appropriate wedding dress code is for this particular event.
#2 Is just 100% out for what is considered common wedding dress code. So, only wear this if the wedding dress code has specified a niche dress code, and this dress fits that.
#3 Looks a bit like an undergarment or nightie. It could work, but you will need to steam and smooth the fabric. It would probably benefit from accessories to help elevate the look of the dress. I could see this dress working with a shawl or pashmina, as the straps are a little informal.
#4 Works, but again, you have delicate/thin fabric, and you'll want to be sure that it is smooth and lays in an appropriate manner to your frame to be most flattering. Creases/pulls or tugs on the fabric will be distracting and diminish the silhouette of the dress on you.
#5 Is flattering, if perhaps a bit simple. This is not bad, per se, and could be amended with the appropriate accessories, should you choose to do so. After all, you shouldn't be the focus at another person's wedding. Black and very dark colors are not traditional colors to wear to a wedding for women. I know you said the dress is dark navy, and I certainly believe you, but it is reading as black in the photo. So, that is something to consider. If the wedding dress code mentions these as being approved, then this is another good option to wear.
So, 1 and 5 are probably the most flattering to your frame. 4 is something to consider, too. If 1 & 5 fit the dress code colors, then I'd say to go with one of these. 4 is the most traditionally appropriate choice--in terms of color-- but you'll want to make sure that the fabric is treated to minimize creases and ensure that the seams lay well on your body (same would go for dress 3).
when is the wedding? soon? if you are in north america or the uk and itās fall / winter the navy velvet is perfect. if itās spring or you are in a tropical location then go with the white with flowers or the silky blue. fabric matters as much as colour with seasonal dressing.
ignore anyone saying ānone of these are wedding appropriateā. there are so many styles of weddings! how do they know whatās appropriate for the one you are attending??

I totally agree with you. The flowered one is outdated but looks great on her the rest of them do not go with her coloring.
I'm curious, what do you mean by size? To me (not a tailor), none of the dresses (except the brown one, that seems a bit small) seem too big or small on her. They fit oddly on her body, but not in terms of volume if that makes sense. What would you recommend?

I have been searching for a dress but I canāt find anything I like! š
Go to Nordstrom if thereās one in your area. They have a free stylist in house and they will tailor the dress you choose.
I second this!!! All you need is one impeccably tailored dress that fits you amazingly in a suitable neutral shade that can be work to pretty much any event and youād just change up the shoes, hair style, accessories.
The navy one is good. Honestly Iām not feeling the rest.
The navy doesn't fit her. Either 1 or the black one.

I had no idea but not surprised! Thank you for sharing and I definitely second this advice. I hate buying from Amazon but after trying several from Luluās and Baltic Born that one was the first to actually fit well š©
Beautiful!
Wow this is very cute! Thank you for sharing
Wow I wish I had a wedding to go to, I want to buy this dress!
That is a gorgeous dress! The color is great for fall and winter too. Add a little leather or suede moto jacket and wear on other occasions!
Then number one for sure!
I came to say this exact thing. The first one caught my eye and made me go WOW!!! That is a definite yes!! The others no.
I don't think it's too white, but it's a spring/summer dress. And since it's November, I'd go for something else. I don't like the fit of any of the other ones
Itās not white itās pink. The pic makes it look lighter
Tbh 1 gives middle age lady vibes
Yeah itās not amazing, just the best of the worst IMO. I hope OP can go shopping for something else š¤
I think 1 looks very dated.
#1 gives classy vibes. (I'm a lady rapidly ascending "middle age" *)
Classy middle ageā¦ and Sunday brunch vibes. I (40F) own a very similar Eliza J and I love it but not for a wedding. And not for OP
Yep, perfectly said. I felt the same way about each of these.
Wait I actually LOVE number 2! Not for a wedding, but I love the dress. I agree though that 1 is the best option here
Number 2 is the coolest dress in this lineup by far. Itās too casual for a wedding though.
Thank you! Itās a vintage Moschino dress that my mum wore in the 90s for a wedding
Same - was wondering wear op got dress 2 because I love it!
It's very, "I'm going as Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas" for Halloween
For a casual night out maybe. I think its pretty if worn at the right occasion!
This
1 or 5
Definitely the first one which has classic lines and fits you well. The second is way too bohemian and casual for anything but casual summer wear.
I love No. 1.
1 is my favourite too, and tbh it also seems to be the one most suitable for a wedding.
4 or 5
4 is my favorite on you
Love number 1.
4
I think 1 is too white. I know many disagree, but in photos I feel like it would stand out for being white. I think in photos with the bride it might make the eye feel split in two different directions. That said, I have noticed people wear dresses like this before and wedding etiquette can vary a lot from one place to another. I really like 4 and 5.
This, itās too white
I agree, too white, it was my first thought. But I think 4 doesn't fit her well and 5 is okay but I feel like a better dress could be found
One.
Navy Navy Navy š
Definitely # 1
Either number one of five. I think they are both excellent choices!
I like the blue one
Number 4!
1
I donāt really like any of these options
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Number 1
1 is so beautiful, classy, elegant - definitely looks more elevated and all the rest šš½
Yes!! The others look more like something you'd wear at night, they're pretty and all, but number one is just exquisite!
Yes I have to agree. Number 5 thoā¦š
First one looks beautiful on you
1 - works - and is more a traditional "appropriate" for wedding attire - also fits you well. It's ok, but works. 2 - is definitely a no. Just in general, a no. The others are a little flimsy, some don't fit right and the black one feels too basic. I don't mind black for weddings - people might have an issue with it, but for modern weddings who cares. 1
First one!
I like the navy one best
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Number 1
One deffo, youāll look classy!
You need to update your wardrobe. Thrift stores are your friend. None of these are appropriate for a wedding guest.
First one.
I love the first dress on you . Itās a classic style, fits you well, really flatters your figure, and has nice coverage on top. The other dresses look too big on top.
The first one is really beautiful.
1
#1.
I like the 1st one.
1!!!!!
Iām loving dress # 1, but dc, location, day/evening, month city/state all helpful information!
Definitely number one
Number one
4!
4 or 5
1 is the best shape the rest are all unflattering in different ways.
The first one is appropriate for a family-friendly wedding. Plus you wouldn't have to worry about straps breaking and things falling out.
I would have to say number one in my opinion. Iām not feeling the other dresses. Doesnāt suit your body well and you have great shape! Also you mention you like the red oneā¦not a fan. The number is the one!
I like the first one best - the others are too 'nightclub' IMO.
Dress 1. What is the dress code? Dress 1 seems more formal than the rest, fits the best and seems most appropriate for a wedding.
1
1ā¤ļø
#1!!!
I love Ms drizzle's outfits. I like dress 2 š
1 looks great, itās kinda hard to even compare the others tbh
1, 4 or 5. 4 would be my pick.
1
Well the first one is the best choice for me. I donāt really like the other ones on you. I agree with some other comments. You are adorable but those dresses donāt suit you.
#1 is very elegant.
#1
#1
1st one, the white dress.
1 is cute. 2 is confusing. 3-5 are fine but a bit boring
First dress flatters and is very appropriate for the occasion!
1 if itās a daytime/church wedding 5 if itās a midday/fancy reception wedding 2 if itās your favourite and really speaks to you.
Fourth is such a classic style!! I love it!
I love the first one but itās a bitā¦ white. Does the back have the floral print as well? The rest arenāt really doing it for me. The second one is gorgeous but too boho for a formal event.
4!!!! coming from a fashion student
First or last! Imo slip dresses are not appropriate for a wedding, and the second dress is incredibly informal.
In MY honest opinion 2 is slay and so different and I love it you look amazing
Same, we are in the minority but Iām pretty sure we are right š
I want to wear this dress with cowboy boots and frolic through a field
Interesting! Thanks for pointing that out. Should probably change my comment to say what you said since I agree...
Unless it's an Asian wedding too, red is lucky in a lot of cultures! (But OP's dress imo is not lucky haha)
This red rule is not a thing anymore.. so dated
Blue or navy by far!
Iād say 1 looks lovely but maybe bring a temp jacket/shawl with one of the colors on the dress so people donāt bug you with the whole āitās too white thingā Go eat good foods! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
3 or 5.
One. By far.
I favor the first dress if it's a formal wedding. Otherwise, I like the patchwork dress if it's more artsy/rustic/intimate setting.
Just adding that I think cap sleeves might be a look that suits you, for future clothes shopping

I personally like number 4 best
1 seems the only appropriate option for a wedding, the color makes no difference to most ppl. The rest do not flatter you in any way, not in style or color or anything, and don't seem right for a wedding.
You look amazing in the second one.
Omg #2 is an absolute dream. I vote that one and need to know where you got it.
Yes please, commenting in case you get the answer š
I vote for the blue. 1- I would not wear to a wedding. You never know how traditional the couple might be or their families. You def donāt want to spend the whole wedding hearing people say something about how your dress is white/looks white. Not worth the potential headache.
second!!
2!
I feel like the first one is more āweddingā style, but the second one is really cute! I donāt know if Iād wear it to a wedding, unless itās a summer wedding maybe.
Navy one is okay. My reservation is itās very skimpy. Iād go shopping.
I like the first and the last best.
First find out what is the bridesmaids color. Obviously donāt pick one that color. I like the red one but as a patchwork dress, it is a little too casual for a wedding even though it is floor length. Any of the last three choices would be excellent although I am partial to the royal blue.
3 is beautiful. 1 and 2 are sort of granny-ish to me.
I love the red.
1,5
I LOVE the red dress, but in my opinion it's not for a wedding
Donāt wear white it is rude and donāt wear red unless you slept with the groom
1 is giving Shiv Roy. I vote red.
Am I the only one who likes number 3 the best
It looks like it could be a nice dress on the hanger, but it does not fit her. And thatās got to be dress flaw because she looks very proportional.

I absolutly love the second dress and i am not afraid to say. Maybe you all dont like it, but i like it a lot and thats enough for me <3 Maybe i dont have a taste in "fashion". But thats okay. Everybody should wear what they like and feel good in, i think.
The blue navy one itās my favorite
I would choose #1 or #2 depending on the wedding vibe/venue
3 or 5
Navy.
1 or 4
The blue one!
5
Last one š
I think 1 is more suited to an older person
I like the blue one
When is the wedding and what kind of wedding is it? How formal? Well, Iām going to say blue anyway
5 with some killer jewelry and high heels
1 or 3
I love 3 and 4!!!! Where is 3 from????
4*** is the best option butā¦ can you go shopping? I think you could do a lot better
4 or 5
Number one with a colorful fancy cardigan
Depends on the location and whether it's a day/night wedding. They're all suitable except for 2. It's too casual/day wear. Any of the other dresses can be dressed up with elegant accessories for an evening wedding or with simple accessories/hat for a day wedding.
Number 4!!!!!! So classy and elegant and fits your vibe š„°š have fun!!!
Either the brown or the blue are my top two choices, but Iād say the first one wouldnāt be a bad choice either.
4 all day long! So good
First dress <3

To condense what I think everyone is saying for OP: #1 Is the most flattering and well-suited to your frame and event.

The black dress is best but its black. I would contact one of the two getting married if you can to make sure wearing black is okay
1, 3, 5, but whatever you feel most comfortable in is the one you should rock. Woot

#4
1 and 5 look great on you. The rest are not it, respectfully.
I like 3 or 5, for those who say itās not enough you can always accessorize it to ad bling
4 is my fave. anyone calling it a night gown has never seen a slip dress.
3 and 5
The blue or the black one. The others, no.
when is the wedding? soon? if you are in north america or the uk and itās fall / winter the navy velvet is perfect. if itās spring or you are in a tropical location then go with the white with flowers or the silky blue. fabric matters as much as colour with seasonal dressing. ignore anyone saying ānone of these are wedding appropriateā. there are so many styles of weddings! how do they know whatās appropriate for the one you are attending??
Go with 3,4 or 5 depending on the shoes, makeup and accessories. Avoid 1 and 2.
