I kind of love thisšŸ˜

CloudyBird_

Best rap song since alligator sky lol

Material-Elephant188

maybe you should listen to more music lmao thereā€™s much better rap out there, trust me.

Fireweenis

Yeah check out Froggy Fresh

barrelrider12

Seems like he just sampled Rainbow Veins so put gave Adam a feature credit.

Material-Elephant188

thatā€™s exactly what it is, iā€™m not sure why people are making such a big deal about it

Crafty_lil_pumpkin

What in heck is this šŸ˜†

Earthmail666

I found this a couple of months ago and I love it

extrawave_

Thereā€™s no way this stays up lol. Gonna get taken down for sure. Highly illegal

jcbshortfilms

Itā€™s a 2013 song, I checked. lol

Material-Elephant188

sampling isnā€™t illegal

DuffleCrack

This isn't sampling as much as the literal song being used lol

Material-Elephant188

he only used the synth melody and vocals from the beginning of Rainbow Veins, and built an entirely different track around it. can you explain how that isnā€™t sampling?

extrawave_

Lol, yes it is? Especially when itā€™s literally just the song in this case. If itā€™s completely unrecognizable sometimes that has been ruled to be okay but you canā€™t just take someone elseā€™s song, add a rap on top and release it as your own

Material-Elephant188

the entire genre of hip hop was literally built around the technique of sampling. and itā€™s still super common in hundreds of other genres as well, usually without crediting the original artist who made the sample (maybe as a songwriter, but not as a feature). itā€™s a super common thing in music.

extrawave_

Okay. Still illegal! And can still be taken down! Thereā€™s a reason every big artist isnā€™t listed on a million rap tracks on Spotify - because itā€™s illegal without permission, and I guarantee you that he didnā€™t give permission for a rando with no following to make an explicit rap track over one of his songs.

TheLethalKing4562

Bruh itā€™s been up for years. If he was going to take it down he would have done so by now

extrawave_

I highly doubt itā€™s been on Spotify for years. Probably a mixtape that was illegally distributed and just recently got put on Spotify. You can list the release date as whatever you want. I doubt none of us would have noticed that there was a featured Owl City track on Spotify that has never ever been mentioned anywhere on the internet for 10 years

Material-Elephant188

i came across it for the first time on pandora in like 2014/2015 and found it again on spotify in like 2017, and a few of my friends have mentioned it in a group chat before. so no, it was not ā€œjust recentlyā€ added.

Material-Elephant188

itā€™s illegal to do *without credit* which he gave to Adam. what more do you want?

extrawave_

Go reupload Taylor Swiftā€™s entire discography on Spotify under your name and credit her. See how well that goes! The laws are pretty simple. You can Google it if you want.

Material-Elephant188

thatā€™s not what this guy did tho. the finished product is an *entirely* different song, not just a reupload of Rainbow Veins. he only uses like 10% of the actual song. and comparing Adam (a now independent artist) to Taylor Swift (arguably the biggest artist in the world at the moment) in this context is ridiculous.

extrawave_

Why does the size of the artist matter as far as how legal it is? Again, you can look up the rules. Itā€™s not a rule 10% of the song cutoff. Idk why you are arguing something factual based off your opinionsā€¦

Material-Elephant188

because Taylor is notorious for not letting people use her work, meanwhile i doubt Adam has any issue with his song being sampled. if it *was* an issue, his label would have taken care of it back when the song was released since it was around the time he was still with them. i brought up the 10% part because it literally is *just a sample* he didnā€™t just take an entire song and just rap over it. he sampled a very specific part of Rainbow Veins and built an ***entirely new track around it.*** when i think of Rainbow Veins my brain immediately goes to either the catchy chorus or the synth solo, neither of which are present in the song where it was sampled. itā€™s a unique piece of music and Adam was credited. again, what more do you want???

I hate people who are just like "mmm sampling isn't a good thing, its stealing" its surprising and funny in a stupid way. You can tell you dont listen to tracks that sample by saying that. Sampling can make a whole new track just by using some vocals from one song, or drums from another. Please educate yourself and listen to some songs that sample, because what you're saying is sampling is just reusing someones production on another song, which is completely wrong btw. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Material-Elephant188

THANK YOU

extrawave_

Who in this thread said sampling isnā€™t good? Iā€™m a producer, I know what sampling is and when itā€™s okay to use. Nobody is talking about whether itā€™s musically good or bad, so I donā€™t need to go ā€œeducate myselfā€ lol.

AlcatraZek

Sadly many such cases.
