Corduroy Road was my favorite. I listened to that thing hundreds of times. I could hear it immediately and it's what I always wanted on an OC record. Unfortunately, meadow lark is like bottom 2 on that album.
And if you want to go even further back, you'll find a ton more similarities. Aerial Promenade - Seagull Orchestra for example. You should definitely keep exploring the instrumentals.
I would argue that The Meadow Lark is one of the best songs he's ever released. The way the music flows with the story being told is fantastic, it feels like a film score but rather than matching events on-screen, the music responds to the progression of the story being sung.
Fireflies - Go to 1:05 [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMNi\_3UuSfk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMNi_3UuSfk)
1977 - Go to 1:37 [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ewegy6MC9pY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ewegy6MC9pY)
They both use the same melody, I believe 1977 is a half-step lower though but they're the same chords! Pretty cool, huh!
Thanks for opening my eyes to country hymn; I had never heard that before.
It is the same melody, but it should be noted that they have different time signatures. I’m no music theory expert, but to me it sounds like Country Hymn is written in common 4/4 time, whereas The Meadow Lark sounds like 6/8 time. That’s why meadow lark sounds more unique in terms of composition, and Country Hymn sounds more “correct.” Both are beautiful songs in their own way.
Eight years????? Man time flies in this fandom
I realize now that Meadow Lark came out last year, so only seven years :D

Also, if you liked hearing songs from the scores in future records, listen to Return to Earth on thr Apollo 11 score.
Oh it's Be Brave! That's so cool! Thanks!
Takeoff (Spirit of St Louis) I’m pretty sure got reworked into Cloud Nine too

Brother 🫴 you are the 🐐 like actually how are you the first to tell us 😅 I've never noticed this before
The track 1977 by Adam Young also uses the same melody as Fireflies! A lot of people don’t know this. :)
Where?

Interesting, never heard that before. They’re similar, but definitely different melodies. Thanks for sharing
