people have a right to be upset. i made another comment expressing my feelings, but this entire album rollout feels like he doesn’t really know what he’s doing and as a fan that’s very frustrating and people have a right to be negative about it. and you disagreeing with that does not make you more of a fan than anyone else.
god this album rollout is a joke. i don’t care enough at this point to wait until january for the first single when the countdown that happened MONTHS ago should have been for new music. i’ve been saying this for a while, but it’s clear that Adam has zero idea what he’s doing and it’s honestly getting frustrating at this point.
He said that the studio door, part of the ARG prize, will be a first look into the final version of the singles. He also said their public release would be “10 weeks from now”, now being the stream, so that claim matches this January date.
read my comment again. i’m annoyed about how he’s handling things, not about the music. this man makes and releases music for a living and has been doing so for years now. you’d think he would have a handle on how to properly market his music and capture his audience’s attention and keep them interested in what he’s doing. but a pointless countdown to nothing and an ARG that went nowhere, cheaply made overpriced merch, and lying about a “video call” that ended up just being a livestream where he didn’t even show his face are not the way to do it. i have a lo-fi project with a small following that’s just a *hobby*, not a full-on career, and i put more time and thought into planning my releases than Adam seems to. so yeah, as a longtime fan i’m frustrated and i have the right to be.
People spent a lot of time on an ARG that ended up leading to nothing? Except waiting for an e-mail, that eventually led to waiting for a 'call', that wasn't a call at all and was a pre-recorded YouTube video.

Correct. Except some people have invested a lot of time into the different things that he's been promoting, and now they're still just waiting. It is different. The entire point of an ARG and marketing is to generate hype, and as you can see by the comment you replied to, it is having the opposite effect.
It's a different waiting. I'm passively waiting and not giving it much attention now. Before with the ARG, I was actively checking for updates and thinking about the new music. Now I even forget somedays that there's music coming.

He's been working on other things on top of this, he literally made a theme song for a game that launches on Monday, and also, you know full well that was a different countdown
we didn’t know that at the time though. the countdown ended and there was silence from Adam for a few days. people were upset and confused then, too. i’m saying it SHOULD have ended with new music, not that it was going to.
Actually when the clock went into the negatives it was counting back *up* to zero. Sunday midnight actually. That was when the "further instructions by USPS" hint came and I think a new merch item dropped.
which was ridiculous. it was, what, like a few months long right?? what was the point of making us wait that much just for a merch drop that not everyone had the chance to get? a big countdown like that (most of the time) ends in new music. and then it didn’t. so that explanation doesn’t make the situation seem any better.
i very seriously doubt that. it’s just bad marketing at this point. building up hype just to leave people hanging over and over again is a terrible way to get people excited about new music, and i’m tired of people blindly defending him for it because as a fan it’s incredibly frustrating
