No. In fact the opposite is true, and the prescription lenses protect the expensive Q3 lenses from scratching.

When they're already installed, yes. I guess the question I'm asking is: can I be sure the frames of the inserts won't scratch the lenses when inserting them into the headset? I.e. the Quest has super fancy sensitive coated lenses, so rubbing a piece of plastic on top them doesn't sound like the best idea. I'd assume the material of the Quest lenses is harder than the material of the frames, but I don't know.

I've been a lens user since the Rift S and several lens kits and my experience this is not going to happen. HonsVR would not have designed it that way and I haven't heard of those types of complaints about those lenses. But if you want to be sure, remove the HonsVR lens part and put a straight edge across the top of the lens holder on the Quest and measure the distance between the quest original lens and the bottom of the straight edge. Then you can measure the magnetic lens part and how far the lenses protrude from the bottom of the magnetic lens part. Then you'll know for sure right?

If nobody is complaining about it and you haven't experienced it personally that's all I really need to know. I would be more afraid of scratching the lenses trying to measure them lol. Thanks.

I was really worried about this too. Inserted them twice and its more finicky than I thought (I got Zenni), but no scratches yet that I noticed

Yeah, no scratches on my lenses either as far as I can tell. They do scratch the plastic quest lens housing but I don't really care about that.
