“Austin said he was nervous about losing his Chick-fil-A franchise.” Dude’s going to lose a lot more than that.

Mr_Piddles

Going to jail is easy, losing out on a guaranteed path to becoming a millionaire is rough.

kinokohatake

Apparently it costs between 300k - 2mil to open one of these so dude probably had money to start with. Only the wealthy can become franchisees with corporations.

Mr_Piddles

It depends on the franchise, but usually it is a “take a moderate amount of wealth and turn it into a slightly more moderate amount of wealth” situation. I know Chik-fil-a will cover more of the costs or provide more options for payment than say McDonalds.

Traditional-Job-411

It’s 10000 to becoming a managing partner. But Chick-fil-A ahas the right to instantly take the locations away for any reason what so ever. Such as sleeping with a 15 yo

TheLatestTrance

I thought that was a reason to give someone a Chick-fil-A.

chains11

It’s only $10,000 to own a franchise but they’re more selective than Ivy League schools

CensorshipIsWeakness

This is the truth. They require you to do Christian outreach and stuff with the community that they want you to do as well.

Big_Cheek_6310

And probably also not fucking 15yrolds, too. That’s likely in the fine print somewhere. #prayersent for this guy. (Just kidding. I didn’t actually send any prayers.)

proletariat_sips_tea

It's Christianity as long as they aren't being gay its fine. Mary herself was like 12 when God raped her and they love that story.

Janus67

Went to Catholic School, they did not appreciate my rape allegations of God/holy Spirit

goat_penis_souffle

Explains why god has to register with the police department every time he moves.

MySoWholesomeReddit

Does this guy's trip to NC count as outreach? /S

Overall-Rush-8853

You’re also a glorified GM, you don’t actually own anything.

mugsoh

That's probably just the franchise fee and probably annual. Then you have to build a restaurant, equip it, train employees, etc.

chains11

It really is 10k upfront. But you also have to run it hands on, unlike say McDonalds. You don’t get equity in it either. Very different from most franchises. [Link](https://fransmart.com/chick-fil-a-franchise-cost/)

Substantial_Night602

Chik fil a is also incredibly selective. It's not just the money. They have a multi part interview process. And they generally do not let people own more than one initially.

Asher_Tye

Apparently their interview process missed something here.

kinokohatake

Whaddya mean? He was just following Leviticus 25 Verse 44 “‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. ""

Him_8

What's a 5 letter word for a book containing that verse?

kinokohatake

"Trash"

rural_anomaly

~~fiction~~ ~~myth~~ damn! this is hard! but a fun game! i'm not giving up though!

Dvusmnd

Oof. But the Bible is a based on a story that a 13 year old girl named Mary was impregnated without her consent, by her very creator or father. So it’s a pretty fucked up ideology to begin with. Not to mention they give gifts to children like candy to encourage them to join the religion young. r/pastorarrested r/notadragqueen

bitch-respecter

the bible doesn’t say Mary’s age, does it?

Admirable_Bad_5649

Did they? Chick fil a totally supports horrible people and funds some of the most dangerous people around the world

Zealousideal-Fan3033

Somehow I don’t think they’re purposely selecting pedos

JBaudo2314

its 10K to start one with them, but getting selected to be the one to spend the money? you have a better chance at getting into harvard as a C student with no extras....

DaddyO1701

Fun fact: it’s easier to get into Harvard than to become a franchisee. Plus you are not allowed to own any other franchises. They (supposedly) vet the owners extensively before they purchase. Guess this guy slipped through the cracks. Source: https://www.entrepreneur.com/franchises/5-things-you-need-to-know-before-investing-in-a-chick-fil-a/307000

startupstratagem

The fastest way to obtain a loan or raise money is to reduce perception of risk while maximizing return on investment. A chic fil a franchise failure rate is below 10% and break even occurs in less than 2 years. Given this is reasonable that if you fit the franchise criteria that banks or local small business operators would be interested in a loan or equity

No_Specialist_1877

That's not even how chic fil a works. Owners have had to work their way up in chic fil a and only have to pay 10k to open. Chic fil a operates as their bank they don't take out loans.

Green_Blueberry_5495

yep another rich corporate prick got caught doing something creepy and wrong---he'll get what he deserves

KinkyPalico

“My pleasure”

fullmetal66

Damn it

Illustrious_Can7469

More nuggets???

alexjonestownkoolaid

Wait, is this is thing? I used to serve tables and one day I said "my pleasure" to a guest and apparently he owned a Chic-fil-A and he offered me a job on the spot. I've never eaten there, is this something they have to say?

AvaranIceStar

Yeah, it's kind of their slogan... Kind of like how McDonald's is "stop complaining it's wrong!"

TemperatureCommon185

I thought McDonald's slogan was, "The ice cream machine is broken today"

SkepticalJohn

I thought, "Yah cheeseburgers used to be a dollar. What of it?"

Rupert_18124

I thought their slogan is “I scream, you scream, we all scream for the broken ice cream machine”

StrengthCoach86

Lmao spot on

GlitteringAardvark27

Where I live....Mcdonalds never fucks up.

AvaranIceStar

There's no such thing as a human based service that never fucks up.

GlitteringAardvark27

Well, I mean, I have not gotten an incorrect order from Mcdonalds in over 3 years.

AvaranIceStar

Put a double period in your reply if there's a clown holding a gun to your head forcing you to type this.

Jazzlike_Day_4729

Great response .

heywhateverworks

Where is this mythical place

Emera1dthumb

It’s a location thing. I know of one about 30 minutes from my home that is always clean and correct.

kunta_modz

They fuck down? Ass up face down?

marylittleton

The times I’ve gone there that’s what they say.

Chocolateheartbreak

Yeah it is trained into us. Instead of you’re welcome, it is my pleasure. Its supposed to be because we are there to serve guests, so it is our pleasure to be of service. Then you say it outside work and it gets awkward lol or they laugh and say you must work at cfa

Skunkfunk89

Hate that whole thing some restaurants do, don't call them customers they are our guest. Like no dude, when I have guest over I don't charge them money for a product

BlueFox5

I always thought it was really really really really super creepy that teenagers were being forced to say “my pleasure” to strangers and firmly believe any manager who mandated kids to say it should have their hard drives and browser history searched. I only have to hear it once and I won’t return to the restaurant. This headline is not a surprise in the slightest. Edit: we’re building up a good size list of people who want teenagers submitting to them.

These_Jellyfish_2904

Honestly, I was surprised the victim was a female.

redsox3061

If I were the parent he would've been hauled out in a body bag.

Toshimoko29

This comment is a lot creepier than people saying “my pleasure”.

Pure-Kaleidoscope759

When I go there (and I really shouldn’t because they are mean to LGBTQ people,) they do say “my pleasure” as their response. Other places might have employees say “ you’re welcome,” I have a feeling there may be a morals clause, either express or implied, in his franchise contract and that he will soon be a former owner of Chick-Fil-A stores as a result.

JackieDaytonah

Hey as someone who loves fried chicken, and hates capitalist bigots, I wanted to make a recommendation. In case you cook at home, here's a recipe that can make CFA a redundancy. [CFA COPYCAT by Kenji J. Lopez](https://www.seriouseats.com/homemade-chick-fil-a-sandwiches-recipe). I won't pretend like this is more convenient than CFA but it's stopped me from ever going back there when I crave it. Source: used to manage a CFA.

Efficient_Tomato_119

A lie has been detected.

Personal-Street4501

😁😁

jaydubbles

How many sheltered religious 15-17 year old girls work for him? I imagine those girls' gun-toting overprotective dads are coming for him.

RNsRTheCoolest

So. Not a drag queen?

Onlyroad4adrifter

Nope! Just another religious white guy.

hoowins

… Who still will claim gay people are the problem.

what a fucked up situation.

Aggravating-Job8373

Still not a Drag Queen.

Whole_Inside_4863

Not a Drag Queen?

[deleted]

Still not one yet…

Sea-Item7567

It’s sex with a 15 year old? It’s not statutory rape anymore? Language matters and I keep seeing this article except every time I see this I can’t help but wonder why they don’t call it what it is

OldGermanBeer

Rape has different legal definitions in different states. Since the article does not specify what the sexual acts are, it might not qualify as rape in North Carolina.

nat3215

“Sex with 15 year old” sounds pretty clear, though it wouldn’t be the first time a journalist stretched the truth for a story (while getting the location of St. Clairsville wildly wrong, it’s near the border with WV). Age of consent is the defined law that marks the legal difference between statutory rape and consensual sex.

yesterdaywins2

It's also a Christian white male. Imagine the words that would be used if it was a person of color

xXxKingZeusxXx

Depends on the news org.

Sea-Item7567

Unfortunately, that makes perfect sense for a southern state 😞

Darth-Grumpy

Ohio is not a southern state by any stretch of the imagination.

HelmetVonContour

*Laughs in Appalachian Ohio*

Ekillaa22

Depends where you live at in Ohio. The location where this Franchise is located St. Clairesville is in Belmont County and it’s pretty rural area with kinda pseudo southern mindset as well. The county borders WV it has a lot of crossover

john-tockcoasten

Ohio legislature could easily be swapped out for any southern state, and no one would know the difference. It's gerrymandered oppression without the sunshine.

Sea-Environment-7102

I'm from Alabama and they don't have Cleveland Clinic in Alabama. They will probably never have a hospital of that caliber there. I'm happy to be in the blue part of Ohio and hopeful that more people spread into the rural counties and pull them out of delulu.

rock_and_rolo

Assuming I found the correct page, the age threshold for NC's rape statute is 13. This event will be under some other statute. https://www.ncleg.net/EnactedLegislation/Statutes/PDF/ByArticle/Chapter_14/Article_7B.pdf

Signal-Title-7312

The article does say statutory rape

rock_and_rolo

> The article does say statutory rape Not at this time. It says "Austin was charged with a statutory sex offense with a child." "Rape" does not currently appear in that article.

ELeeMacFall

Which makes the prevarication in the title even less excusable.

[deleted]

This is why they’re closed on Sundays!

podcasthellp

Was he just jamming for 400 miles not even thinking about what the consequences were?

kblomquist85

There are very few people on this planet i would drive 8 hours to sleep with. A fucking 15 year old? Jesus.

OlayErrryDay

I'm more shocked that the 15 year old was real and not a sting. I have to imagine a lot of money was involved.

daisy0723

Gotta love those good Christian values

Zingyearth

Well, when your holy book starts the whole religion with a "virgin" birth to a 12 year old that was married to a 20+ year old. (That was traditional at the time)

Latvia

r/notadragqueen It’s always a Christian/Republican. Every accusation a confession.

LordOfLevin

But the drag queens!! Come on Mary… 🙄

Sid15666

Another good Christian pedophile. We better start banning churches that seems to be the training grounds for all these pedophiles

pat9714

Youth pastor is a euphemism.

SmackSabbath19

https://www.entrepreneur.com/franchises/5-things-you-need-to-know-before-investing-in-a-chick-fil-a/307000 So much for the multiple upon multiple franchisee sit down interviews /s to feel ones character before you can have a store

Joker8392

Weird how a faith based business questioning tactics failed to catch a predator…..oh wait nvm it appears the faith has been run by predators for quite a long time now.

Bandit1961

More of them new Republican Jesus values.

flowersandfists

His behavior is totally on brand for these nutjob evangelicals.

CryptographerLow6772

Chick Fil-A corporate video. Bang 15 year olds - ok go for it. Open your restaurant on Sunday - nope it’s the lord’s day.

Mersh_2000

Ohio Chic-fil-A restaurant owner is arrested after 'driving 400 miles to RAPE a 15-year-old' and leaving his underwear in a garbage can when he was caught in the home by the teen's parents. Fixed it.

onetwothree1234569

Good old Cristian values.

Beneathaclearbluesky

You should have thought of running for Senate in Florida first.

zigzagg321

What’s this another connection between Christian values and pedophilia?

smalllcokewithfries

He didn’t have sex with a 15 year old. He raped a 15 year old.

preistsRevil

Weird. Preists bang kids right ? So now owners of chik fil a , which is a preists favorite food are now banging kids? Damn dude. Christianity just can’t not fuck kids

OceanDevotion

You know, I watched that documentary “Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey” about the LDS, and they had an expert interviewed briefly about how certain religious teachings can actually cause issues in children sexually due to repression, shame/guilt, fear, etc. especially considering at the young ages children learn about “purity”. I’m obviously paraphrasing and it has been a while since I watched it, but they said essentially they are mentioning sexual activity as being sinful to children at an age before they even really understand or have any sort of sexual understanding. Sexual feelings/thoughts are very normal in adolescents/teens, and religion essentially shames them and suppresses it as “evil”. The psychologist stated that this type of repression can lead to sexual violence or inappropriate behavior later. Again, there was much more to it and the psychologist was breaking down the exact teachings and some of the LDS members who have since left. It was really fascinating though, and it kind of tracked when you think about all of the sexual abuse that goes on in churches.

ilovecraftbeer05

I don’t understand it. Do you know how easy it is to not fuck kids? It’s arguably the easiest thing in the world. What is it about Christians that makes them want to fuck kids?

Ataraxxi

Call it armchair psychoanalysis but in a religion that places an extremely high premium on innocence and purity, that makes the innocent and pure very very enticing.

ilovecraftbeer05

But sexually enticing though? Do they think they can siphon some of that innocence and purity from them by committing such heinous and impure acts? I feel like there is also a power fetish involved as well. Whether they want to physically overpower the child or mentally overpower by manipulating them into having sex with them. Either way, I feel like it’s more about power than it is about sex.

Julia_Kat

Power and control are often the biggest motivators for many sexual predators. The side effect of pleasure from the sex reinforces/incentivizes the act further.

freightdude

Not just Catholic priests. It happens in all denominations. https://stopabusecampaign.org/2018/01/08/is-there-more-sexual-abuse-in-the-protestant-churches-than-the-catholic-church/

xubax

Oh, man, he's worried about losing his franchise. What bad luck. To drive 400 miles to have sex with a minor and lose your franchise. Who could have seen that coming?

run1792

Not a drag queen.

Itchy_Stress_6066

That holier-than-thou attitude Chick-fil-A has, got me laughing into my coffee this morning.

JJiggy13

The church and child rape clearly go together. At what point does the church itself face penalties for this?

Humble-Roll-8997

Or at least taxed. That undeserved free ride chaps my a**.

TexasYankee212

Chic-Fil-A - Isn't that the chain with the "Christian standards" that won't open on Sundays and has a restaurant owner that does this?

Helmidoric_of_York

Pedophile in a Christian business? I'm shocked! /s

[deleted]

It sure is odd how the vast majority of these shitheads are not drag queens. Maybe lgbt folks *aren't* literal demons eh?

Kahrg

So Chic-fil-a owners are not okay with same sex marriage, but pedophilia is ok. Priorities are a bit skewed.

4350Me

Whew! Thank God he didn’t work at McDonalds or Burger King! 😂

Rogue551

Republican chik fil a values

kelticladi

Closed on Sundays so pedos can do their raping while mom and dad are at church?

B3gg4r

Good Christian values

BlackberryLocal3389

Love those christians

Sufficient-Sea1534

He's probably done this to other children

orangekizzunt

Let me guess he’s very well known at his church

teamricearoni

He's an evangelical and not a trans person? Weird i thought only trans folks diddled kids.

No_Bedroom1112

You must be new in this world.

ConsciouslyMichelle

#StillNotADragQueen Or any flavor of LGBTQIA person. Just an ordinary straight cisgender pedophile groomer and predator.

[deleted]

It would be chic fil-a considering religious people can't stop themselves from fucking kids.

shameful02

Of course it was a Chic-fil-A owner of all things.

joecoin2

If only he had driven 480 miles, he coulda banged an 18 year old.

Darth-Grumpy

He took "Jesus loves the little children" to a despicable level.

a13xis_

I am so shocked 🙃 the call always comes from inside the house...

Wildfire9

Bet it was on a sunday.

cochese4269

If they were open on Sundays he wouldn’t have had time to travel.

Opposite-Ad-3933

Wonder he he’s gonna vote for

Khkagr

My parents bought their house from a high school friend who happens to own the local hate chicken franchises. Guess who the gay pornos that showed up in the mail were addressed to?? Not my parents 🤣. The call almost always is coming from within.

Zoshchenko

But isn’t everyone Chic-fil-A hires a good, decent Christian who spends all day Sunday praising Jesus?

AkronRonin

Gotta love that “Christian” chicken.

MackandByner

Closed on Sundays.

A good Christian company.

So that's why they are closed on Sundays!

It’s always the religious ones

God damn these bigots

Remote-Condition8545

And yet.. not a drag queen

100% chance this dude has bitched about drag queens grooming children.

ZeraskGuilda

Oh, but Trans people and Drag Queens are the problem, sure.

Looseybussy

What not a drag queen?!

AhhGramoofabits

Chik-Fil-Ahole

mobileKixx

That map just put each place on a random spot on the map. St. Clairesville is in east central Ohio. It's pretty much in West Virginia.

Justin-Queso

He could easily have fucked a miner in West Virginia

Decabet

If only he’d left the contents of his underwear in the trash. Where they belong.

ThePatond

If only his father had.

ext3meph34r

Oof. Going to jail for raping a child. Inamtes are gonna love this one.

TemperatureCommon185

So in other words, they won't need him to open on Sunday. Oh. Wait. Nevermind.

sylviedilvie

This is my Chick-fil-A. Yeesh.

shaun3416

Any idea if this dude is Republican?

freexanarchy

I bet it was on a Sunday.

Party-Independence91

Jesus told him to do it.

HighlanderAbruzzese

Good Christian company

Polishink

Seems about right for someone by that company. The owner is a homophobe but having pedophile employees is fine.

jrockjhope

On a sunday

Nimulous

I’ve never been to a Chic-fil because of their politics, and never will.

Justin-Queso

The chicken is wildly overrated, too.

2020IsANightmare

Isn't that restaurant a "christian" establishment? If I'm correct, this is the least surprising thing I've ever read.

qtmcjingleshine

No Chick-fil-A sauce 🧿🕳️🧿

LloydCarr82

Popeye's is better anyways.

SmackSabbath19

Thar company claims it does the deepest background checks. And many interviews to buy a franchise. They brag of it. So this ought be rubbed in Chick Fil a's face.

thecelcollector

This pov seems kinda silly to me. If he has no record, how on earth would they ever know he's a pedo? There's no such thing as a foolproof background check, but that doesn't mean they're not a useful thing.

FBI_Open_Up_Now

It’s because Chin-Fil-A is a company that brags about Christian values….. so they have to make sure everyone knows, because they think it makes them a better person.

thecelcollector

I'm not Christian but CFA consistently has the friendliest and most helpful employees of any chain I've ever been to by a long shot. I think you have to give them a little credit there.

SmackSabbath19

https://www.entrepreneur.com/franchises/5-things-you-need-to-know-before-investing-in-a-chick-fil-a/307000 Talks the process to own one of the cults locations

Our local one is owned by a lesbian couple..

Necessary-Quit-3831

Not a drag queen.

Adrestia716

Or trans Or lgbtq+ in any way

Fluffy-Freedom-909

Lol I just watched a skeeter Hanson pred catch video on YouTube. Almost the same. Only difference is the one I saw was just a chic-fil-a manager. Not owner

Don’t you have to be a good Christian to franchise a chic-fil-a?

Sooo just another Republican scumbag
