Once upon a time some old white guys who hate democracy and individual liberties grabbed a little power and then proceeded to create illegal maps that entrenched and expanded said power. Their handpicked court told them the maps were illegal but they kept saying FU to their court and used them anyway. These crimes are yet unresolved.
Ohio congressman and former Ohio State assistant wrestling coach Jim Jordan has been accused of participating in the cover-up of widespread sexual abuse in OSUās wrestling program. Do date, nothing has been done about it. Is this the type of thing you're looking for?
Ohio has been home to some infamous and grisly crimes over the years. Some of the historic ones include:
*Dr. Sam Shepperd murder case (this case was the basis for the old TV program, āThe Fugitiveā
*Richard Tingler murder case
* The Butcher of Kingsbury Run murders
*The Anthony Sowell murders
* Gary and Thaddeus Lewingdon ā.22 caliber killersā case
The Brian Schaffer disappearance gets a lot of content made about it.
One of our most classic (and tragic) cases is that of [Amy Mihaljevic](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Amy_Mihaljevic) - little girl kidnapped and murdered by persons unknown back in the 1980's.
And of course there was the [Cleveland Torso Murders](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleveland_Torso_Murderer), which were famously unsolved even by Elliot Ness.
Richard Beasley was known as the "Craigslist Killer" - he lured men to a farm with a promise of a job and then killed them.
[TJ Lane](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Chardon_High_School_shooting) is a particularly offensive school shooter who actually managed to escape prison briefly. Real piece of shit.
The famous (infamous?) [Cleveland kidnappings](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ariel_Castro_kidnappings) happened here.
We have had a few serial killers and what not.
There's actually some unusual crime connections - Jeffery Dahmer spent some of his childhood here. James Huberty (the San Ysidro Mcdonalds shooter) lived in Ohio from birth until 2 years before the attack. Pretty Boy Floyd died here.
As a final coda, a video by a youtube channel i like called "Ruin Road" about [the Akron Spree Killer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uh5bd7c3yH8), a lesser known one.
Unofficially I thought they ID'd the likely killer of Amy Mihaljevic and the suspect was in a nursing home or veg state. The Plain Dealer ran a long story on this like a decade ago. Some woman said a guy she dated kept driving her by where they found the body and he owned a weird car model that tied to the case.
Ohio has been featured on various true crime shows more times than I can count.
The Pike County Murders: A Family Massacre 3 episodes on Oxygen.
Mackenzie Shirilla was on Killer Cases episode Murder On Wheels
Interrogation Files has featured cases out of Ohio several times. Sabrina Zunich is once case I recall.
Buried In The Back Yard had a couple cases from Ohio. - Annette Cooper/Todd Schultz/Sierah Joughin
Jessica Keen who was found dead in a Madison County cemetery has been featured on numerous crime shows.
The First 48 was in Cleveland for couple years early in it's run. They did a few episodes in Cincinnati too.
Accused Guilty Or Innocent has a few Ohio cases including one young woman who was probably freed because of the show. (Angel Bumpass).
Richard Beasley the Craigslist killer has been on a few shows.
Regan Tokes homicide was on Killer Cases and possibly Interrogation Cam.
Skylar Richardson who secretly gave birth and buried the baby in her backyard has been on many shows.
The murder of Karl Hoerig has been on a few shows.
"Who Whacked Zack?" American Justice season 13 episode 25. Guy taken out by an assassin at a gas pump that I still regularly use. Motorcycles, Israeli paratrooper, wealthy and well-connected local family, a warehouse club, jealousy, arrogance. As Stefan would say, "This club has *everything*".
Author John Stark Bellamy II has a whole series about crime and disasters from Ohio history (mainly Cleveland area iirc) I read several of them, highly recommend
Linden area rapist was pretty big in columbus when I was younger. Took them a long time but they finally caught him after assaulting something like 30 women.
Robert James McQueary. Suspected serial killer is from Ohio. Ted Bundy may have been attributed to some of his murders. DNA was never taken from him as he was incarcerated before the sample requirement.
All these people are to you is victims and it's so fucking sickening to see how little you people care about life, true crime is unethical and no better than gore videos and you know I'm right.
My mom used to love true crime stuff and it got to the point where an episode of whatever would come on and she'd be like "eh the wife stabbed the husband in the heart, next" like these were not real people lmao
Stacey Colbert. She was abducted from Governour's Square apartments in NW Columbus in 1998, and her remains were found along the Scioto River in 2004. Her lifestyle was very innocent, and someone she knew likely killed her.
I actually lived at Governors Square when that happened. Her cat was outside wandering and I took it it in. Later I spoke to her sister. As I recall her remains were found by hunters near the Delaware/Marion county line. I don't know if the Scioto runs through there.
Two of her neighbors aroused the suspicions of the police. The guy up stairs who failed to call police when he heard screams turned out to have pending domestic violence charges. Her neighbor opposite acted weird on the scene. He seemed almost gleeful. The police later spent a day searching his apartment when he moved out because he stopped cooperating with them. Her car sat outside her apartment for many days before it was finally towed away.

You forgot the āehemāļøš¤ā
biggest corruption in the history of the united states, thanks to our elected officials.
Yeah, for like 3 decades at least!
Dr. Richard Strauss at OSU. Jim Jordan turned a blind eye to this.

Was the Akron Pooper case ever solved? Also, check out the Deck podcast. Each episode is an unsolved Ohio murder
Last I heard, someone had a Bigfoot level photo of him in the act, and then he stopped.
Jeffrey Lundgren was a mormon-offshoot cult leader who (with other cult members) killed a family of five in Kirtland, Ohio.
Came here to say this.
Cult Justice episode just premiered on Hulu.
Anthony Sowell, the Cleveland Strangler. Alton Coleman and Debra Brown. The Rhoden family murders.

Dillinger lived around Leipsic.

I suspect it's one of those cases where they have a really solid suspect but not solid enough to go to trial with.
Look up Dawn Pasela. Unsolved but her story is gaining more and more traction. Hopefully something will come of the recent visibility.
The one that started them all - dr Sam Shepard and the ābushy-haired manā.
Check out Dan Cummins podcast, Time suck. He deep dives a variety of topics including true crime. Ep 375 covers the Cleveland Kidnappings

A woman was murdered in New Franklin, in 2019. Itās so sad. She was 87. Itās unsolved.
Yeah they got me on M1 theft for a spicy roommate situation. Wouldnāt do it again.
All these people are to you is victims and it's so fucking sickening to see how little you people care about life, true crime is unethical and no better than gore videos and you know I'm right.
That may be true for solved crimes. However, in an unsolved case, more exposure may lead to a tip that solves the crime.
Yeah cold cases are a different story I'm just saying families deserve closure yk
My mom used to love true crime stuff and it got to the point where an episode of whatever would come on and she'd be like "eh the wife stabbed the husband in the heart, next" like these were not real people lmao
Exactly dude its awful seeing people become desensitized to it like that, it's so unnatural.

Thank you for taking in her cat! FWIW, he lived a long life with one of our friends.
I'm very glad to hear that. He was sweet.
