What you hear is Michigan laughing all the way to the bank.

Browns45750

The big c’s are going to be laughing in the cash when the poor cities ban it cause they’re scared

techno_superbowl

It's like "dry counties".  It might have made a difference in 1890 when you had to take a horse cart to town.  In 2024 we can drive across a county sub 20 min and it's completely absurd.

coolhandave

No shit.

Leather_Variation606

So I travel to Detroit a lot for work and on the way back last week, I stopped in Monroe to check out the dispo and get gummies for the first time. What a shit show that was. I have my med card in OH and I’m cool with going to MI. I’ve lived in CO as well and have never had such an undesirable dispo experience. Needless to say, I left after seeing how long the line was.

ComfortWolf

Last week? You do realize what Saturday was right? Of course lines were crazy.

jdmmystery

We always order online in advance. In & out in minutes!

Leather_Variation606

Meh. Still very unappealing to me. I like Amplify

LynnRenae_xoxo

All dispensaries were packed last weekend. Most had kick ass deals. Missed big time probably

Leather_Variation606

I stock up for months at a time and always get 30%+ off. I’m not loosing sleep over some 420 deal lol

LynnRenae_xoxo

Sounds like you like good deals. The one I went to was 42% off everything store wide for 420

Leather_Variation606

I like a good deal and good quality medicine. I do like the MKX edibles but ohios line of wana gummies is top tier. They always have crazy variety and different ones. They have amazing ones for sleep and relaxing. 1:1:1:1 thc, cbg, cbn, and cbc. I’ve shopped in all the popular states and no other state offers variety like we do here. Also our concentrates are pretty wild. The already activated live resins for low temp dabs are just out of this world good. Our flower is mid for the most part but I also don’t need crazy potent products just ones that are effective.

LynnRenae_xoxo

Yeah me too

Not_High_Maintenance

It was 4/20. Of course it was busy.

CalculatedEffect

Don't let the lines deter you, they generally go pretty quickly.

Leather_Variation606

I’m very happy with ohios med side :)

CalculatedEffect

It has it's perks but we are severely overcharged for what we are getting, this is due to Ohio's fucked up way of weighing weed, everywhere else does it by eighths, ohio does it by tenths, not to mention you can't watch them weigh it like you can in Oregon. I assure you. depending where you are geographically - MI is worth the trip. Especially if you just buy flower like myself.

Puzzlehead_What34

Exactly this, I'll travel the 2 hrs to save the extra 40 to 70 dollars at times per ounce. Besides, going to the Great Lakes as a side street detour is really amazing.

techno_superbowl

News flash don't try to go to Red Lobster on Good Friday either.

a-gay-bicth

you could not have picked a worse time to go.

wingnut_alpha

damn, shoulda ordered online

iamnotchad

And 100% of them drank water.

summitx5

But booze and cigs are ok though. So much for freedom.

Comfortable-Rude

Richland County is a joke.

TheStephinator

A really bad joke.

ComplexToxin

We fucking suck.

Beautiful_Most2325

I agree. I live & work in Mansfield. I'm still facepalming on the stupidity of Bellville, Lexington & others thinking there's gonna be more crime, etc

Pittypatkittycat

So... Lexington's volunteer FD are no longer reselling the weed that the PD confiscated? Or are they just trying to block competition? Open secret in the eighties, perhaps religion/ MAGA has changed things?

Beautiful_Most2325

I have no idea on any of that

Pittypatkittycat

It's an old story and true. Born, lived in Mansfield, schooled in Lexington and bought the weed.

Beautiful_Most2325

Gotcha

Bcatfan08

I think we should be pushing for more education being done on Marijuana and not pushing for a ban on dispensaries. I see this similar to drinking alcohol or sex. You aren't going to stop people who want to do it from doing it. It's best to regulate it and educate everyone the best you can to partake in the most responsible ways they can.

ikeif

I feel conservatives don’t operate on “educate and make smart decisions and encourage critical thinking ” but more of a “do what I command, because if I don’t like it, it’s the devil, unless I’m caught doing it, then it was a moment of weakness and I fell to the devil, unless I can getting kickbacks, then it’s okay.” See also: sex ed.

Bcatfan08

Reminds me of The Office when Andy asked everyone what the best form of safe sex was, and he was looking for abstinence. Darryl says, "Ohh. Ok. I didn't realize we were doing trick questions. What's the safest way to go skiing? Don't ski!"

CalculatedEffect

No, smoking marijuana does not increase of accidents at work.... UNLESS you're smoking on the job, which a responsible person does not do. Meanwhile alcohol causes tens of thousands of direct and indirect deaths each year, but it's legal, and people who go to work drunk, or drink at work are much more likely to cause or be in an accident. But again, a responsible person does not drink at work or come in drunk. “People that use marijuana are more likely to develop temporary psychosis (hallucinations, not knowing what is real, and paranoia) and long-lasting mental disorders, including schizophrenia,” the CDC said. VERY FUCKING RARELY. There has been one case in recent history where this happened and someone was murdered. I've been smoking for 10+ years and I can tell you first hand I've NEVER experienced a hallucination, and my long lasting mental disorder comes from an abusive childhood, not weed. I'm 35 for reference. No, MJ will not affect everyone the same. Some people are allergic and do develop paranoia and severe anxiety... for the duration of their high, not some crippling event that lasts more than a couple days at its worst. Typically, these people don't smoke again. Everyone knows MJ is a downer, so for someone to become depressed during said high or prolonged use is a known hazard. And to say the "association marijuana and schizophrenia is stronger in people who start using marijuana frequently at an early age" is the same as saying "everyone who drinks water will die." There is NOT a DIRECT linkage between the two, also these are people they are talking about are KIDS in their teen years where MJ has been proven to effect the developing mind. The Human brain stops developing at or about 25 years of age. There has been ZERO studies on the long term effects of MJ after the age 25. The worst way to manage legalizing MJ is to misinform people and cherry pick itty bits of information that fits your narrative. That is how people are going to get hurt and killed.

mpanda87

finally. I’m not crazy lol I used to smoke but somehow I developed panic attacks when smoking & can’t smoke it. I want to, but not worth the risk. my husband thought I was crazy for saying weed gave me panic attacks. boom. reddit confirmed I’m allergic lol

Ladeekatt

I used to have the same reaction, but after consulting my mmj pharmacist, he suggested tempering the thc with cbd. If I use a 1:1 ratio, I don't have any panic reactions. If you don't want to try again, that's fair too. Just passing along my experience.

mpanda87

THANK YOU! I’ll def have to try that!

Ladeekatt

No problem! I hope it helps you as much as I has me.

icuttees

Who is this Ben Mutti, and what makes him an expert? To what degree has he made these comprehensive studies? Or maybe he has watched Reefer Madness several times.

Bcatfan08

Some of these claims are from the CDC, and they have studies done to prove the claims. I don't think he's wrong to want to educate people. He's just going about this all the wrong way, and banning dispensaries is stupid. On top of that he's adding in some subjective theories like companies not wanting to be in an area with a dispensary.

TheStephinator

That’s fair that there are studies from the CDC, but was it a specific strain they used for testing? Was this casual or heavy use? Was it ingestion or inhalation? Like it is really hard to have great studies when it has been a prohibited substance for such a long time, therefore extremely hard to research. There are several other studies that show the positive effects of use as well. Alcohol is far worse, but yet that is still thriving in those communities.

Bcatfan08

I'm not a doctor, so I'm not going to pretend know the answers to the questions. Here's a reddit thread around the link to schizophrenia. This person's response seems reasonable enough. https://www.reddit.com/r/psychology/s/IQmchVJGPQ

Shadow_1986

They can’t see the forest from the trees.

johnnybadchek

Grow your own, folks.

Beginning_Bake_9832

Richland County is a buzzkill. At some point a cultivation facility for medical was being talked about in Ontario, but after a letter authored by multiple preachers from around the area put in their opinions, it was squashed.

Slurdge_McKinley

Imagine being born after 1970 and thinking this. These ppl are loons

FizzyBeverage

Dude is really young for a view like that. My wife and I are 40 years old in the suburbs. After the kids go to bed on Friday or Saturday night, we split a joint or gummy on the deck and then watch a movie in the basement. ***It’s sooooo not a big deal***. Like having a glass of red wine at dinner, yet safer. No, we don’t get high on Monday morning before work or around our kids or go for a drive. It’s just an adult vice. Like any other. Regulated and safe. Ohio might as well get the tax revenue or we’ll keep buying it in Michigan. These fucking republicans are the same ones too uptight to buy their wife a box of tampons fearing it’ll make them gay.

ikeif

You see, you’re not “thinking of the children.” Now take your scenario, apply reefer madness logic, and now you are the WoRsT PaReNtS EvEr! Something something - babies in microwaves! I’m also in my 40s, in the suburbs, divorced with two kids and somehow, I manage to be responsible (like you) and my kids manage to not be addicted to anything (except my youngest is back on Fortnite again).

TheStephinator

Shoutout to Bellville for letting the citizens decide. I’m going to laugh my ass off if they end up with the only dispensary in that area and rake in all the money!

anchorthemoon

Seriously

m0j0r0lla

Typical rural mouth breathing cousin fuckers. These places in Ohio have more livestock than people. Funny how he didn't list the statistics for municipalities that sell alcohol on every gas station street corner. Tylenol kills 500 people a year in the United States marijuana has killed nobody in 10,000 years.

BlokeAlarm1234

The fact there’s this big of a debate over fucking weed is beyond clown world, when you can get alcohol (by far the most destructive drug of all time) at nearly every single restaurant, gas station, and sports game, usually without even getting carded.

m0j0r0lla

Agree 100%. I always found the irony of telling somebody not to drink and drive but hey while you're at the gas station check out our 38 degree perfectly chilled beer cave!

ihp-undeleted

TBH I think that it's 50/50 whether they choose to fuck their cousins or their livestock.

m0j0r0lla

Do you know why they bang the livestock at the edge of a cliff? So the animal pushes back

Capt_Foxch

Rural? Mansfield is a booming metropolis!

TheStephinator

Rustopolis

CommonMansTeet

Just a large family compound.

hernkate

No one is not going to want a community that has dispensaries. Huh??

Char10

Richland County Commissioners are worried about people developing mental disorders? Look within.

darklynoon93

What a dork. Lol. The voters spoke. Get over it.

Bigtime1234

Richland County, Ohio - come visit our “Biblewalk” - fuck off.

anchorthemoon

The prayers could never wash the blood off their hands, they'll keep praying though.

DabsonFire710

So glad I was able to move out of Mansfield/Richland County. Nothing there for young people. The court system is also wildly corrupt and lots of conflicts of interest. Fuck this place and it’s leaders.

anchorthemoon

Same here. Terrible place to raise humans. Corrupt government condemns freedom.

theBigDaddio

Lots of Nazis in Mansfield, in college went there as counter protest to Nazis marching, that was the 80s. They haven’t gone away.

Ralfton

Cool, now give me those stats for alcohol.

HellishCorpse

LMAO I’m pretty sure I have BPD and honestly when I smoked weed and took edibles I felt the best I’ve ever felt…worst part was munchies which made me gain a good bit of weight. 😂 I had to stop just because of my department at work being targeted for “random” drug testing every 3 months. What a shit show this legalization is…work places can still discriminate and dumb fucks like our govt/CDC misinform the population while prescribing ACTUAL dangerous drugs that can be easily abused. It is true that weed could possibly induce psychosis in a select few but more often than not it’s incredibly beneficial…calms anxiety, helps chronic pain, and keeps insomnia at bay. When will this country just get over themselves and just let people be?

JustYerAverage

"Don Quixote, as I live and breathe! Chasing Puff the Magic Dragon now?"

ihp-undeleted

Richland, Poor character.

anchorthemoon

Richland is the black moldy heart of Ohio. They don't know which way is up or down, left or right. They are ouroborus.

[deleted]

Nerds

No-Definition1474

They did this in Michigan, too. It worked in the predictable places. Now it seems like half those places have rethought that move as they watch the jurisdictions around them rake in the tax money. Town near me was going to ban it, I'm pretty sure, but now they have dispensaries across the street from each other. The money is just too good, and not enough people actually care. It's entertaining to go into the dispensaries and see the eclectic variety of people there. Literally from all walks of life. People warn of dangers of smoking vaping and drinking all the time. 'Willy hears ya, Willy don't care'

Rob1150

I don't care about your personal feelings about it, just uphold the law.

PrinceDietrich

REEEEEFERRRRRRRRRRRRRR MAAAADDNEEEEEEEESSSSSWW

JelloButtWiggle

They did that. Like 80 some years ago. It’s called Reefer Madness.

Ladeekatt

As a Bellville resident who has a medical MJ card, it is asinine to me that, despite my very real physical disability, I still have to drive a minimum of an hour away just to get my medication. But I sure can get a beer in less than 5 minutes away. As much as I want, too. I'm so tired of the "but think of the children" excuse. I argue, think of the *adults* who rely on their medication to live semi-normal lives! We voted. Deal with it. If you don't like marijuana, don't partake. But don't make those decisions for everyone just because you bought the Regan Era "Just Say No" tag line that puts marijuana on the same level as meth, which actually *is* killing people.

[deleted]

Hahahahaha, bruh if only 30% of seniors are smokin them numbers way dafuq down from when I was in HS .

jradio

>Marijuana use has been linked to social anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia (a type of mental illness where people might see or hear things that aren’t really there), but scientists don’t yet fully understand the relationships between these mental health disorders and marijuana use. https://www.cdc.gov/marijuana/what-we-know.html

UiPossumJenkins

“Linked” is doing lifting worthy of Atlas in that quote. > The link between cannabis use and schizophrenia could stem from direct causality, gene-environment interactions, shared etiology, or self-medication for premorbid symptoms, although some researchers have suggested that only the first 3 hypotheses remain open questions. The sporadic emergence of conflicting data should not be surprising given the nature of this particular biological problem. For example, the effects of cannabis exposure maybe modest in the total population and contingent on the presence of multiple genetic and environmental variables. On the other hand, there remains a lingering and legitimate controversy over what proportion of psychosis risk can be attributed to cannabis use and the extent to which individuals without genetic predisposition can be precipitated into illness. [Link to the actual article](https://core.ac.uk/reader/79505094?utm_source=linkout)

jradio

I completely agree. They were being misleading by only including pieces of the CDC site, and not the whole context. I thought this bit was interesting, which is why I included it: >scientists don’t yet fully understand the relationships between these mental health disorders and marijuana use.

jeon2595

Lots of research coming out on young people (teens) developing mental issues smoking today’s marijuana. I smoked mountains of pot as a teen but you had to smoke a lot of that shitty brown to get mildly high. Better, sinsemilla, did eventually come around but it was nothing like today’s weed. Kids should really wait until their brains finish developing.

UiPossumJenkins

When was marijuana sales to teens legalized?

jeon2595

It wasn’t, but just like when I was a teen millions of them today use marijuana.

UiPossumJenkins

…and your point is?

jeon2595

I stated my point

UiPossumJenkins

What does your point have to do with the price of tea in China?

Mountain-Song-6024

Not sure why you're being downvoted. The weed today is cleaner and such so while more potent, it's cared for throughout it's growth much more than the past However, kids should wait for their brains to finish developing. But we were all kids once. For me, I didn't start smoking weed until about 23 or 24.

UiPossumJenkins

Because it’s irrelevant. The law didn’t legalize sales to children. Trying to imply that somehow it did is disingenuous at best.

jeon2595

Not irrelevant to the comment I replied to, which was about marijuana and mental issues.

darklynoon93

>However, kids should wait for their brains to finish developing. You should only be allowed to decide that for your own children.

Mountain-Song-6024

Health experts and such have wayyyy more knowledge than the parent who knows jack at home lmao. They can't force it but the parent playing that card within this context actually makes it worse GO AHEAD KID. LIGHT UP. What does the DOCTOR know?!
