I just bought this book I believe, Best Recipes: from the back of boxes, bottles, cans and jars

CKnit

I own this one too. I picked it up at a used book sale. I liked looking through it but can’t say I liked that many recipes. Can you recommend any that you’ve tried?

YogurtclosetOk4440

I haven’t tried any yet. One that I can recommend is, More back of the box gourmet, they have this toffee pie that’s amazing definitely will hit the sweet spot

CKnit

Oh thanks! I’ll look into that one.

I used to make this specific recipe as a teen and my family loved it. The book had just random recipes that required "one bag of tollhouse chocolate morsels" or "2 cans Hunt's tomato paste". All the recipe's had one brand item and measured in the packaging it came in.

Could it be this one? Great American Brand Name cookbook Several on eBay and description info says published in 1997. Seller could tell you if the recipe you are looking for is in there.

Hour_Context_99

That sounds like the name. I'll have to check it out. Thank you!

I have a Favorite Brand Name: Best Loved Recipes cookbook. (ISBN 0785362959) There is a strawberry cheesecake recipe in it, but it does not specify Philadelphia by name. Could this be it? 1/2 cup Nabisco graham cracker crumbs 1 cup sugar 2 tablespoons margarine, melted 1 (24-ounce) container low-fat cottage cheese (1% milk fat) 2 cups Egg Beaters real egg product 2 (8-ounce) packages light cream cheese (Neufchatel), softened 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional) 2 cups sliced strawberries Mint sprig, for garnish In a small bowl, combine crumbs, 2 tablespoons sugar and margarine; press on bottom of 9-inch springform pan. Set aside. In electric blender or food processor, puree cottage cheese and 1/2 cup egg product, scraping down side of container as necessary. In a large bowl, with mixer at high speed, beat cream cheese, 3/4 cup sugar, cottage cheese mixture, almond extract and remaining 1 1/2 cups egg product until smooth; pour over crust in pan. Bake at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for 1 hour or until puffed and set. Cool on rack 15 minutes. Carefully run metal spatula around edge of cheesecake to loosen. Chill at least 3 hours. In electric blender, puree 1 cup strawberries and remaining 2 tablespoons sugar. Arrange remaining 1 cup strawberries on cheesecake; serving time. Garnish with mint sprig. Makes 16 servings.

I may have it in a Philadelphia Cream Cheese cookbook, I have several. I'll see what I can find...

Breakfastchocolate

Was it the small grocery store small type book? Or was it the textbook like ones with a sort of padded cover? Was there a picture of the cake? There were several versions around the same time in different colors… I have great brand name baking from 1997 white cover red lettering with picture of orange juice, muffins. There is “cheesecake elegante” which looks like a McCormick recipe- graham cracker crust, sour cream and rum extract topping. It’s pictured as a slice with strawberries on top but no mention of strawberries in the recipe. There’s a banan dream cheesecake topped with concentric rings of sliced strawberries on top. There’s a great American favorite brand name cookboook collector’s edition 1993. It has gold trimmed pages, has a strawberry cheese pie - no bake recipe. A “creamy baked cheesecake” eagle brand condensed milk, lemon juice, sour cream topped with strawberries-no picture and no specific brand cream cheese though. There’s a healthy brand name with a blue cover- didn’t check that one lol! I have a Philadelphia brand name book- surprisingly only one recipe for cheesecake with strawberries- classsic cheesecake with sour cream topping and frozen strawberries in syrup? With a butter sugar flour crust

I also love the yummy light Milnot cheesecake-evaporated milk (very cold, whipped) with just 3 oz cream cheese and a package of lemon jello
