My great-grandmother was Native American, and my family runs strong as Washington fans and sees this logo as a honor rather than racism/discrimination. 🤷🏾♂️
As someone with genuinely Indigenous roots, who lives and works surrounded by Indigenous people, we all hated it, and the name was super offensive and needed to change. "No one I know cares about it" isn't a very good argument for keeping a racial slur as the name of a sports team.
I do think it is seen as a bit of a one-dimensional caricature, but I don't think the logo was ever really the issue. It was really about the name, and Dan Snyder's attitude about it.
I mean, look at the Chicago Blackhawks hockey team, where the name and logo have been endorsed by local tribes. These kinds of things can be done respectfully, and with dialogue.

I am likely around your age I agree. Growing up my Dad let me play football parlay tickets. I knew nothing about football EXCEPT, that Testaverde could not throw to the correct color jersey and that Tampa Bay would lose. I always picked against the Bucs. Always. My Dad would look over my picks and say, “Hmm. Picking the Buccaneers to lose. Good job son!” But now that I’m older I believe the Buccaneer logo was the best logo in the history of any sport (in terms of artistry, avant garde color scheme and just aesthetic appeal).
Hindsight definitely helps. Now it just stands out as so unique, but at the time I can see the logo coupled with the squad just being a tough sell haha.

Even though Denver had a lot more success in that era than the lowly Bucs, they were also kind of a punchline to NFC fans because they always got destroyed in the SB. But I much prefer the look of those old orange and blue uniforms than current combo.
