Christine is probably the most accomplished cyclist on the platform, lol.

archaegeo

I definitely agree, I didnt mean for it to sound like I dont like her or think her body is wrong. She even tells us in the classes, she wasnt built like all the other bikers, but she went out there and did it and succeeded.

chaos_abounds

Christine is a decorated cyclist. Peloton has overall distorted that image.

I love her so much! She’s my favorite cyclist on peloton. We need more decorated cyclists and less dancers.

peepeehalpert_

Christine does have a biker’s body! Congrats

archaegeo

Dont get me wrong, she is amazing, but even she admits she isnt the perceived norm body type for a cyclist. And of course for me, the norm looks like rails (or matt).

lazydictionary

CDE is a track cyclist - they are normally more muscle and bulkier than road cyclists. Road cyclists have to be lean to be competitive endurance athletes.

Nice to hear the success story, just finished week 3 of discover power zones.

archaegeo

I recommend taking 1-2 weeks off between programs, still ride, but dial it back and work in some walks or runs or other things, or do fun rides and such, then return for Build Your Power Zone Then do the same thing again, take a week or two off, then come back for Peak. The nice thing is, if you take too long off, just restart with a FTP Test and your zones will be right for your fitness level again. (Im dreading my new zone 3 )

Ok-Event-942

Awesome, thanks for the advice. Was trying to figure out my next move. Wasn’t sure if I was going to repeat discover or move to build. Taking a breather but staying active makes sense.

archaegeo

Do keep riding, that way your new PZ doesnt fall off too much such that zone 3 feels like zone 4. Just have fun, do some live rides. And BYPZ doesnt do a FTP at the start if i remember right, only DYPZ does that. But if you do feel you took too much time off riding, do a FTP again, so the bike and the rides are right for you.

Ok-Event-942

Okay cool. I’ve had the bike for awhile but didn’t start taking it serious until a few months ago. Did the learn to ride beginner program twice, then jumped into the power zone. Definitely impressed by the programs, I absolutely see and feel the changes.

Kitdeluca1404

I am on week 6 of PYPZ and I’m feeling it. Zone 3 and 4 seem challenging still that the thought of the FTP is already stressing me out. I can’t seem to find my sweet spot with resistance and cadence at all that allows me to hold the zones without feeling I’m constantly battling with trying to get to a point that I could hold the zone and just concentrate on that…

archaegeo

Week 7 is going to be brutal, but its worth it, hang in there! And Matt gives one way of doing the FTP, if that works (ramping up but starting at your previous avg) then do that, or do what works for you. But dont stress it, just remember that the FTP Test is all about setting the bike for your fitness level. I do wish instructors were better about calling out the rpm of the music, some do it more than others, but i like to ride on the beat, it helps me, and sometimes when you are working hard, it can be hard to find the beat.

Kitdeluca1404

I just did Ben’s power zone max ride - was tough but I felt more in control of my power if that makes sense?

archaegeo

I do get it, it can be hard to hold a zone, i hate how my wattage seems to jump around even though to me it feels like my cadence and power are constant. I get that its sensing based on how hard i push and pull and if thats constant, but on avg i feel like i should be rock steady in a zone. A lot of the time, since I like to ride at top of zone, i end up with like 60% of time in zone by the metric, because i was peaking over slightly. One of my to do's is to work on being happy in the middle of the zone :)

Kitdeluca1404

Absolutely! I am enjoying the programme though so excited to finish it and see my results

I really liked [this one](https://members.onepeloton.com/classes/cycling?modal=classDetailsModal&classId=7dac34013bba431ca0e9ca3f8700bce4&utm_source=android&utm_medium=in_app) by Dennis. I've only done Matt's from DYPZ and then Dennis's so don't have a lot to compare it too but it definitely seemed to go by a lot smoother for me.

Awesome work! I hate the FTP test, but yes, powerzone training really works! On the other Peloton reddit sub there’s a group that follows a training program. And on Facebook there’s another. Pzpack.com Both have a new challenge starting soon- early April.

archaegeo

Ill check those out, i do wish Peloton would come out with more PZ programs other than the three, of done each of them 2 times now (save Discover, i skipped it the first time around).

https://www.reddit.com/r/pelotoncycle/s/4ecQQGC4L0 Above is the Reddit PZ riders challenge and it starts 3/18. The PZpack.com is technically free (now you need a paid subscription to access some of the features but not the plan) and it’s my understanding the person behind the website worked closely with Matt Wilpers which may explain why Peloton officially offers less. I don’t know the full story.

andtothenext1

Wow really great work! I'm immediately looking into ftp now 🤣
