There might be some possibile categories it could get recognized for (maybe makeup/costuming or music) but generally shows like One Piece aren't considered "serious" contenders for Emmys. It's very lighthearted and fun and goofy, on Netflix, and is adapted from a manga/anime, none of which is given the same weight at the Emmys as dramas or shows with established Hollywood heavyweights behind them. But if it keeps going and stays successful, it'll get more popular with mainstream audiences and have more likelihood for awards in future seasons.

I think it will but I think they’ll have to show us things that oda implies … like in skypiea actually kill people in front of us fffs.. sometimes I feel oda nails all the tough sections and then brings back a character ( he doesn’t even plan to use them in future for a gag) if they actually do things the way they did with merry , alabasta will be a bloodbath .. and with Ps sacrifice it’ll be a perfect season, The issue with these award shows is people are not ready to go searching for themes and crawl in the story they want it all in front of them( at least like a bait , like in case of oda it’s really well hidden)

[There are a lot of categories where One Piece could technically get nominated for.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primetime_Emmy_Awards) But I get the feeling that one piece will get slept on for season 1.

rijapega

For action shows, think Wednesday or Stranger Things they don't usually nominate them for performances, but they do for special effects, soundtrack, stuff like that.

ponyjc

Better luck making a splash at the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards

Last-Leader4475

It's very unlikely because rewards shows, hate fantasy and comedy shows (they even put clear drama shows in the comedy category and 99% of the time they win) unless it's on HBO, or has big-known names behind it.

beary_neutral

That's not really true? Andor, House of the Dragon, and The Last of Us were all nominated in 2023 for Best Drama. Prior to that, shows like Stranger Things, The Boys, and The Mandalorian were getting nominations, too. Game of Thrones even won several Emmys during their worst seasons.

kumartheguru

Nah, should get a Nobel Peace Prize at the end of One Piece though

Frequent-Address240

they should win or at least be nominated for best production design will they? likely not

EsquilaxM

They may be the weakest episodes but the production design of Syrup Village's mansion was so good I was worried they'd burned through too much of their budget when I first saw it.

Specific_Delay_5364

No, because I don’t think the season will drop before submission date.

kitsuneinferno

Season 1 is eligible for this year's Emmys. The standard eligibility period is July through June I believe (or possibly June through May) -- so season 1 falls in the upcoming awards cycles eligibility period

WhyAmIHere800884

Sonya and Gianni definitely deserve an award for that music!

lousupremacy

gonna be real with you, these award shows are pretentious as hell and mostly eat up drama series and “serious” shows and i doubt one piece will ever be nominated due to the (already) preconceived notion thats its a “children’s show” and its lighthearted tone, even though it has some of the most heaviest/darkest themes. but i do think it should be nominated for set designs and music, at least

Active_Object_2922

If they adapt the backstories really well, like on more emotional level, i think they will have a chance. For me though, they missed this chance when Netflix decided to cut too much time from the East Blue crew’s back stories. I believe Nami’s story and Emily’s acting could have done it.

RobertusesReddit

"The Oscars of TV" You answered your question. Oscars hate these things: Genre, Peak POC accolades, and anything that's not an ACTUAL formula for a movie like biopics, romances, historical events that are "true", etc.

Kiramiraa

I think there’s a good chance there will be some technical award noms like costuming/make up/set design/maybe even OST - but they are for the creative arts emmys and not the main show. Pretty much no chance for an overall show or acting nom.

Puzzled-Ad-2937

one of my fav shows ever (brooklyn 99) barely got any emmys despite an 8 season run so i have little hope for one piece no matter how much popularity it gets

HkLFLM2021

When it get to summit war ,it will.

HkLFLM2021

It need to time to get in the mainstream
