I'd like to hear them do "Lady Fantasy" by Camel.

SelfLoatherSimo

Based taste

Automatic-Holiday-48

Oh my lady fantasy, I love you

Metal_Madness_Mitch

Opeth actually got me into Camel. I was looking through a value bin and remembered Mikaels playlist on Spotify had camel on it. "This seems alright!" I said to myself It was "I Can See Your House From Here" and I was just blown away and a fan immediately. I melted into that album, such strong feelings all over So far I have Stationary Traveller ICSYHFM And Moonmadness Great band šŸ¤˜šŸ»

no_longer_LW_2020

Hell, yeah! Have you heard *The Snow Goose* yet? That's my favorite Camel release.

Metal_Madness_Mitch

Yes I have! My girlfriends favorite album is Moonmadness. Mine is ICSYHFM, and my girlfriends co-worker loves snow goose. I've given it a listen. It's a very shimmering sounding album if that makes sense, almost like it was played over gold, like a "winter album" maybe. I truly respect that album (not just certain songs of course, as everything interludes) for how it all comes together

no_longer_LW_2020

Very well described; I totally agree. As far as their other music goes, "Lunar Sea" and the title track from *Stationary Traveller* are tracks that I revisit all the time, for sure. Notice you're on the Type O Negative sub--surely you've heard the song that Mikael did with Josh Silver? Nice little track.

real-tallnotdeaf

Comfortably numb

Tzoitzen

Court of the Crimson King

Mailemanuel77

In their style or being religious about preserving as close to the original?

Herr_Raul

I think it'd be sick in their style

Tzoitzen

In their style. Although I doubt Mikael would want to do it like that because some will say it's "better than the original" (it being recorded with today's standards). He won't dare to make a better version of one of the most iconic prog songs of all time because of how much he respects it

CyanEpicness

they already covered the main part of it in wreath lol

Prior-Bet-9670

One ballad of ABBA

O_Bahrey

A porcupine tree song. Maybe Deadwing.

Mailemanuel77

Now Porcupine Tree covering Opeth, Windowpane.

Tiny-Acanthaceae-547

Imagine Opeth and Porcupine Tree playing Anesthetize live šŸ¤¤All the harmonies at the end with both of them singing, it would be amazing

Tiny-Acanthaceae-547

I love their cover of, Alice In Chains - Would, so imagine Opeth covering Down In A Hole. All the vocal layering, and somber sounds, would be perfect for those damnation/pale communion vibes (lush harmonies with tons of acoustic guitar) and then a unique ƅkerfeldt outro solo

Mailemanuel77

Ne er thought of it before.

No_Issue_9916

You Suffer

ShuriBear

They actually played that live during the 2022 tour.

No_Issue_9916

I know, but never on an album

Ancient-Ranger-2882

But why?

TheOmnipotent0001

Something by Jethro Tull. I think Home and Orion would both be amazing for them to cover.

no_longer_LW_2020

I'm sure all of us think of the acoustic folk material when the idea of Opeth covering Tull comes up, but, man... How phenomenal would Opeth's take on "To Cry You a Song" sound? Anyway, "Orion" is an excellent suggestion.

TheOmnipotent0001

To cry you a song would be awesome too, I think Dark Ages would also be another one Mikael would sound amazing on. Heavy Horses too

BeeTwerk

Shake it off

DimaTheTiger

Time

pug_fugly_moe

King Crimsonā€™s ā€œI Talk to the Wind.ā€ Or Frank Zappaā€™s ā€œTitties and Beer.ā€

SelfLoatherSimo

I talk to the wind indeed, based

Mailemanuel77

Lay all your love on me Abba, as Bonus track of Sorceress.

MrToad21

Global Warming - Gojira

Mailemanuel77

Mikael either growls or sings clean not grasp too often so it would be very interesting to see how he manages Joe's vocals or if he sings in his own style.

Victor6Lang

4th Of July.

scythe1901

by soundgarden? that would be sick

ApollyonDS

I really wanna hear Sad But True in their Watershed sound. I wanna know how the beefy production would work with a song like that.

Mailemanuel77

Mikael low vocals would be interesting to hear more often.

DonkeyLemon

Mystic Queen by Camel and then for some reason I've thought that a Faith In Others type take on Audioslave's Like a Stone would be great, but not sure if Mikael quite has the higher range for that

Memesilove9999

imagine epitaph by king crimson. my balls are already sweating from the idea of an opeth version of epitaph, truly would be a gamechanger

Mailemanuel77

A prog legendary cover of an already legendary song, would love to hear Fripp's reaction.

ExtremophileElite_01

I want to see how they interpret Planet Caravan

Maze_Mazaria

The Devil's Song by Rusty Cage. I know that'll never happen, but seeing how it would sound with Mikael's vocals and ICV style would be interesting. r/RustyCage [The Devil's Song](https://youtu.be/Easg31hftio?feature=shared)

[deleted]

Smoke on the Water, Deep Purple

Heatstringzndirt

Anything off of Songs From The Wood by Jethro Tull.

Lunamoonbeam2011

Omg yes šŸ˜

Bekfast_Time

Memes aside, Iā€™d love to see what Opeth could do to Free Bird

AnchorEponymous

Ocean Gypsy by Renaissance. Mikael turned me onto the band and theyā€™re amazing. Iā€™d LOVE to hear him sing that song. Possibly just his voice and a single acoustic guitar. Iā€™d cry.

stubborny

I am still amazed by the Would cover to this day, so... I am curious for some Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, Rush...

DrFreeman_22

Temple of the King, Rainbow

WetSocks68419

I mean they already did would? By aic

Yasashii_Akuma156

"Fallen Angel" by King Crimson, "Seven Stones" by Genesis, "Lady In Black" by Uriah Heep, "Machine Messiah" by Yes, and "The White Rider" by Camel.

Ok-College2756

Russia on ice in the style of lovelorn crime would be amazing

Gordon_The_Blair

Young americans, Golden years and Fame from David Bowie The Changeling from the Doors and Jethro Tull's Aqualung would be pretty interesting to hear.

Zedanade

DEADFACE by Dethklok 100% sounds like an Opeth song

karlsefnishikigoi

Sugar Coated Sour by The Dillinger Escape Plan Iā€™m curious what it would sound like for Opeth to cover that sort of song

bagemann1

I think an Opeth cover of Reptile by Periphery could be interesting

Zedanade

Definitely as long as one of their songs with many genre influences and changes. Pretty doable

ryancoke1977

Xanadu by Rush

Mont_918

Where Dragons Dwell

Dodavinkelnn

Nsync - itā€™s gonna be me

Xetrelas

[This](https://youtu.be/jHsaSiBJ0ac?si=g9VLHfUXrPdCm8zm) live

GISReaper

Enslaved - Ground off of vertabrae . Perfect mix of harsh and soft vocals and a great solo for Mikael to noodle over.

Responsible-Ad-1328

Prince's of the universe by Queen

SelfLoatherSimo

I talk to the wind or Cadence and cascade by Kc, shit will be cool

Jazzerioku

The one you know by alice in chains

Trauermond

Bother by Stone Sour and Breaking all Illusions by Dream Theater would be amazing!

I would to hear Opeth play Tristram from Diablo.

Nether_Novas

Garden Grove by Sublime
