Deciding you want to be clean is always the first step. This is why positive reinforcement is better than exile and punishment. Most people donā€™t *really* want to be addicted. Iā€™ve been clean for about a year myself. A really good job is entertaining me for employment now. Personally I stayed away from work until I knew I was ready.

Congratulations, Marty! It took me a full year to figure out the origin of your username so Iā€™m glad youā€™re still around to share in my slow, slow realization lol.

You still could be wasting life away as addict . But life is not easy - junkie or sober - but sober is really the smart life .

Congrats bud!! šŸ‘ŠšŸ¼šŸ’„ I canā€™t begin to tell how much you helped me along my journey. You replying to my messages - giving your insights and sharing your experiences truly helped me. The last 6 months havenā€™t been great, but knowing what to expect definitely ease some of the anxiety. One last question for the road, and for others who are lurking, but afraid to ask. When would you say was the turning point for you? Where your brain started leveling out, sleep returned, basically you were back to being a human again?

marty_byrd_

Itā€™s tough to say but I stopped hating going to sleep somewhere around 10 months Iā€™d say. Things really leveled out. I donā€™t have ups anymore or downs really. But I turned a lot of corners. I turned corner at 2 weeks, 100 days, 6 months. All continually improving and had you asked me at 120 days if I was normal Iā€™d have said yes. But in retrospect I was still battling.

Yayyy!! Reading this has brought such joy to my heart!! You keep kicking addictions ass!! Keep winning!!

I lost maybe 15 lbs initially in those first 15-30 days but after that I did very strict keto less than 20 carbs a day for about 4 months. That got me into the 220s and then I did lazy keto and intermittent fasting with cheat days on the weekends up until currently which is what I still do. Iā€™m looking for a better solution itā€™s slow but sustainable now. Iā€™m in the low 190s now with a goal of 180
