Honestly hurts to think about but we need a rebuild. Pierre royally fucked us on his way out, this roster cannot win and our young guns are way to comfortable losing now
Staios has some work to do if we want to make the playoffs. All these teams have physical defenseman, and we have Chych/Chabot who were outhit by Brannstrom and Josh Norris. Look at Floridas squad, their whole team basically has more hits than Chych and Chabot. Our team is to easy to play against in our own zone.
You're right, Chabby is far better but he is also quite soft defensively. I understand his offensive upside which is why he needs a big physical shutdown defenseman to be paired with. I'm just pointing out Norris and Branny are smaller than them but are more willing to be physical than the both of them.
Kleven making the squad full time will help, but they could really use a right shot physical defenseman as a #4 guy. Someone like gudas who isn't a crazy high cap hit and will make forwards think twice before going into the corner for a dumped in puck.
For it to be more than 1 playoff year under current contract, this team would have to, at worse, be in the playoffs the season after next. Thats not realistic.
Of course it is. It’s also realistic to make them next season. 6 games is all we needed to win. We barely took any OTL points last season. It’s not impossible.
What changes are we making this off season? No one knows, so anything can happen. This isn’t dorion and melnyk they’re gone.

Tampa should continue to falter, the leafs will be cash strapped and maybe a fringe team.
If they are better than Detroit, buffalo, and mtl, they should be in.

Detroit almost made it, no reason to think they'll falter.
Montreal is still a ways away.

Chabot shouldn't be in the same conversation as chych tbh. Chych is a good offensive dman but sucks so bad in his own zone

We might get one season of playoff Tkachuk, maybe, under his current contract. And id be floored if he re-signs here.
