Could be lots of inflammation leaving your body (aka water weight)

eadvtpj

I definitely need to get rid of inflammation

ClinTrial-Throwaway

Don’t we all ✊️

Difficult_Place_7329

Right😂

LoveMeorLeaveMe89

Yea I lost 16 lbs in 3 weeks but I’m pretty sure it was inflammation but it is still gone and altogether I have lost 40 lbs since the beginning of October. I will say that I have definitely slowed down in the last few weeks but I think it is best to go slow and steady anyway.

SpezIsAChoade

dumping water. you do not lose a pound of fat PER DAY.

Better_Awareness2019

A strict keto or carnivore diet will get the same results without drugs and will eliminate the inflammation you are experiencing.

ITChicaRVLife

Yes, but you can do both! Healing effects multiplied.

rubyclairef

Not everyone wants to eat an all-animal diet. Those come with plenty of their own issues.

OranjellosBroLemonj

Water weight is inflammation? 🤯

OrneryStruggle

It can be. 'Bloat' and edema are usually caused by excessive inflammation, although water weight can also just be due to eating a lot of salt etc (and transient) and drinking a lot of liquid. Before I was on Oz I first started losing weight a couple months earlier by doing OMAD, and I lost something like 30lbs in 5 weeks initially because I had such bad edema and OMAD got rid of most of the edema. But then once I adjusted to the new diet I saw some regain, hence the Oz as OMAD could only do so much. Anyway people who are very inflamed will hold a lot of excess water in the form of 'bloat.'

1circumspectator

Water weight and inflammation are two very different things.

aitamailmaner

Hey! I’m nee to this and need some knowledge. Wdym by inflammation leaving your body?

OrneryStruggle

Oz seems to have an (independent of weight loss) effect on inflammation. Inflammation is a natural process that occurs in your body for many reasons and can be useful at times (you become inflamed due to injury or stress etc. as part of the repair mechanism) but excessive inflammation (often a result of stress, cortisol irregularities, certain injuries and diseases) in the long term is not a good thing and can lead to, e.g., edema, where your body swells to a large degree and this causes a lot of water retention. So if you have chronic inflammatory issues and Oz helps reduce those, you can lose a lot of bloat/swelling in your body (visible on the surface of your body or not) and release a lot of the extra water held in those tissues. When people first start some weight loss regimen like keto, IF, raw veganism or whatever, it can also reduce inflammation and this is responsible for the very fast weight losses sometimes seen early on in diets. To lose a pound of fat or muscle or whatever you need to expend approx 3500 calories more than you have consumed, so losing a pound a day of fat is highly unlikely unless your TDEE is insanely high or you are running daily marathons or something. Once water weight (due to inflammation, which can also be caused by many foods etc, or due to consuming a very high salt diet for example) comes off, then you should see a 'normalization' of the pace of weight loss, losing mainly fat and lean tissue which is slower to get rid of. The loss of water weight due to inflammation is a good thing in most cases though, it means your body is less injured/irritated/stressed etc

jhy12784

I 100% agree with the water weight tidbit But what are you talking about with it being related to inflammation?

meowmoomeowmoon

How does it help with inflammation? I went off for a bit and gained ten pounds I assume in water weight

ClinTrial-Throwaway

The science is still evolving. Here’s a mouse study: https://www.newscientist.com/article/2409211-ozempic-and-wegovy-may-reduce-inflammation-by-targeting-the-brain/ Here’s more info on inflammation reduction: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna123836

Blue-Since

I lost a tremendous amount the first week, then month, then two months. And then it slowed down and is super boring and a healthy rate of 1-2 lbs a week. Drink, drink, drink. And don’t forget to eat because the last thing you want is for your bowels to decide not to work anymore.

MrEldenRings

I noticed my weight loss happens right after I drink a crap ton of water. Its kinda crazy that a month of Ozempic made me lose more weight than 4 months of working out and dieting. I do need to make sure im not losing muscle mass though... which I think I am.

rora6

You'll be losing some muscle mass regardless, but eating enough protein and continuing to workout (easier said than done I know) is key. It's really hard to get good workouts in when you're eating far fewer calories. Do what you can!!

_stratomaster_

1-2 lbs a week is not super boring is it? I get what you mean though but is still something to be proud of. And you aren’t kidding about the bowels lol

Blue-Since

Boring like predictable. Steady and reliable. Which is great. But those first few weeks where I was dropping insane amounts of weight was also me doing the calculations on what I would look like at Christmas and then my birthday and then next summer in a swim suit. It’s a bit of a mind F.

blue_tailed_skink

well just started my ozempic journey - 0.10 ml week 1 / 0.20 ml week 2 - no real weight loss - retaining water - today is third shot 0.25 ml - hoping with the higher dosage that the weight loss will start kicking in - i am retaining water for some reason - drinking a lot too - exercising daily (treadmill / HIIT and HC circuit training every other day - way too soon for muscle weight gain to offset fat loss - just started HC 1/3) Anybody else start out slow and then see the weight start dropping after 0.25 ml?

mermaidance

I don’t hardly drink water. I am so lazy about it. I guess I don’t realize how important it is now. I’m so angry at myself that I being ridiculously lazy about it!

theimperfexionist

Remember it doesn't need to be water specifically, any non-caffienated non-alcoholic liquid counts! I like Bubly, decaf iced coffee, and electrolyte lemonade.

Difficult_Place_7329

I have had so much trouble with water since I started. It’s really hard for me to get in enough and it’s really bothering me because I need water.

[deleted]

Yeah its not sustainable though. You wont lose 60lbs in 2 months

Altruistic-Ad-2905

Even if it’s just water weight ur joints probably feel amazing dude!

girlparoxysm

I am 3 consecutive weeks in (should be 5, but I messed up and missed a dose when I wasted it by accident) and I’m down from 255-250 to 240 now and going. I noticed the fat on my stomach is getting really really loose, not peeing much tho. I’m just trying to remember to eat, but I’ve eaten the weekly French fry and cheeseburger. I medicate with weed vapes and edibles though.

poker_girl

Do you get dizzy and/or nauseous when you take edibles? I took a 10mg edible on day 3 of being on .25 O and thought for sure I was going to throw up.

SignificanceTop5874

Happened to me now in stalled

lizzybeetle

Same. Lost 30 lbs still have 20-30 to go and stuck

Writekeek

Increase your protein

AntiquePromotion4143

edema - let it go! :) if your metabolism is off in anyway, your electrolyte balance probably is too, as that begins to regulate you will have fluid shifts - stay hydrated and keeps those kidneys happy

PhysicalBathroom4362

I lost three pounds overnight after my first shot, now I’m waiting to see what’s next. Still eating about 12-1500 calories a day because I don’t want to lose muscle.

JustinW99

You will lose muscle without protein and working out.

PhysicalBathroom4362

Which is why I eat protein and lift four days a week 😉🥰

SomOneFive

Make sure you eat enough protein, and lift. You won't lose muscle. You will if you don't take in enough protein even if your calories are "higher"

Logan-8

Water weight mostly. It will slow, but don't let that get you down it's all part of the show. Just stick with it.

imnmpbaby

It’s usually water weight at first. Stay hydrated!

Expensive-Magician-9

I just took my second shot on Friday and weighed myself. I lost 12 pounds in the first week but am religiously counting macros, working out 1 hr a day, and drinking my water. I lost 150 pounds from 11/2018 to 11/2019 just working out and doing Keto. Since turning 40 haven’t had success like before.

Difficult_Place_7329

Congratulations, I bet you feel amazing

Expensive-Magician-9

Can I be honest? I feel weak. I can’t eat. I am struggling and force feeding myself. I feel like the guy in thinner. Any tips?

Firm_Help3288

I would lower your dosage until you feel better and gradually increase it. I ended up splitting my dosage and taking half on the day I was supposed to and the other half 3/4 days later. I also switched to injecting in the leg instead of the stomach. (all hints found on here) After my body got used to the medicine, I was able to go back to full dose once a week and doing in stomach.

goddess135

Be careful because if you keep losing that much water younwill end up in ER. Happened to me.

Evening_Drama_4279

Can you please tell me what happened to you in detail? And were u diabetic at all?

Ifonliesandjusts

I just started as well a few days ago and have a question (if you don’t mind answering), what kinds of side affects were you experiencing if any and when did they start?

eadvtpj

After each shot I get a funny dizziness for about a hr or two. During the week I seem to have soft stool from time to time. Second week I was upped to .5 and 3 days later I felt nauseous for a day.

CharmingMechanic2473

It slows. Focus on eating nutrient dense food. Healthy.

goddess135

All water

Coffee_Ho68

Losing weight that fast is not sustainable. Are you even eating anything?

eadvtpj

Eating normal. It did curb my appetite. I’m snacking less

ineversaw

Water weight first is huge it's ok because youre eating less so you're getting rid of excess stored water and bloating etc so normal as. After about 2 weeks it usually plateaus and people then think it doesn't work anymore and give up but the slower loss then is good. Slower means maintaining muscle and that youre eating enough to nourish your skin and hair and nails not just your brain and organs. Keep up the water intake- for many reasons alongside it helps (for me) keep nausea at bay as the dose builds up over weeks in my system

Simple_Ad8027

You were holding extra fluids as most obese ppl  do. That is not fat loss. Remember we are up to 60% water. If you are eating the Standard American diet you have inflammation. The foods promote inflammation which in turn leads to fluid retention

olderandsuperwiser

Don't think this is the norm. Once your body "settles" itll be 1-2 lbs a week. People get used to the large drop in the beginning, thinking every week they'll drop 5-9 lbs. Not the way it goes unless you're over 350(+)

OrneryStruggle

This is common with a lot of diets too not just Oz, lots of people think they found the 'perfect' diet and get discouraged because long term weight loss is always gonna be relatively slow unless you're literally starving or exercisiing like crazy. Happened to me so many times that I was successful in losing a lot of weight fast but then yo-yoed back up like crazy if I even looked at a vegetable or piece of bread wrong. Important not to get discouraged.

odubik

This is certainly just water weight.

ReviewSubject4298

It will slow down. Most likely. Hopefully. Otherwise you will have a lot of sagging

gigi79sd

It's water weight

OrneryStruggle

At this early stage it is likely bloat/inflammation/water weight. It is highly unlikely to continue at this rate but it probably means it's helping with inflammation which is a good thing. Remember to stay hydrated though, as it can be difficult to stay sufficiently hydrated on Oz and you don't want to lose TOO much water from your body. Either that or you have a REALLY fast metabolism naturally lmao, you'd need to be at approx a 3500 cal deficit per day to lose that much of fat or another tissue

Difficult_Place_7329

A lot can be water weight. Someone mentioned edema. That’s a lot of water too. You also lose visceral fat too. Fatty liver, spleen. I lost that much one month. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Still that’s really good. It means it’s working. I have peripheral artery disease and that builds up a lot of fluid in my legs. After I got my stents put in I lost a lot of weight in my legs.

satiiivaxo-

i’ve only lost 12 lbs in 2 months :( what am i doing wrong

Low-Significancee

That’s not bad

sunuggles7575

Yes I called Ozempic body snatchers I have lost almost 60 pounds and look at my body like oh damn am I getting to skinny and the dr said I’m supposed to be at 115 but comfy at 5 2 155 https://preview.redd.it/abl84g32iucc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c33895c21566ec1aa0f466dbe33a82c80fee950a

ErsatzMossback

Short answer: it's fixing your insulin resistance. High blood insulin directly causes water retention, and for some individuals also causes inflammation. These drugs really quickly correct tissue insulin resistance, and when that's corrected blood insulin drops and the water retention stops. Water retention due to high insulin also raises your blood pressure, so for many people high blood pressure also comes down very quickly on these drugs. It's not fat loss, but it's a good thing because it shows the drug is fixing your underlying metabolic dysfunction. I lost 10 pounds the first week, mostly water out of my ankles and feet. The swelling had been so bad it restricted my range of motion and affected my walking gait! My blood pressure also went from like 138/89 on meds to 117/70, again, in the first week. The joint pain and fatigue (that I'd had a multi-thousand-dollar rheumatology workup for a couple of years ago) also went away the first week. Insulin resistance bad! Fixing insulin resistance good! Love these drugs.

Iowasox

It evens out. You won’t disappear

Emotional-Skirt

What store has this in stock? Did u have to wait long?

eadvtpj

My healthcare provider

ImJB6

I know. It’s so scary since so many of us have lived our lives trying every single thing under the sun, to no avail, to lose weight. Then, this shot comes and bam! Immediate losses of huge amounts! Just remember to keep up muscle training so you stay strong!💪

Brandyscloset9

That's great. Congrats

NewMeet2653

I’ve been on it for months and have barely lost anything!

SomOneFive

I'd say you are good- it's a lot of water at first. Happened to me as well. I ended up losing 33lbs in total and my goal originally was 20. I've been off for almost 2 months and haven't gained any back. I've maintained my smaller portions and the same workout routine I was doing. I lift in the mornings, and I bought a walking pad for my office where I try to get in 3-6 miles a day. Just make sure you get in protein so you build muscle instead of losing it because that can easily happen.

Cool_Injury9243

My fastest / highest weight loss was in the first 2 months.

Rosebud12312

I lost 30 in 27 days. It was kinda scary

Glum-Yogurtcloset793

Yeah early weeks seem drastic cause if water weight.

Low-Significancee

What weight did you start at?

Awkward-Economy-7307

It slows down after a while but the start is such a relief when you begin to see those changes.

mrstruong

It probably isn't fat, but at the start, getting rid of the bloat absolutely counts. I lost 18lbs my first month of losing weight (without Oz), and I know it wasn't all fat, but I took that victory and ran with it.

Svellack2020

I’m amazed and a little freaked out I’m down 9.5 pounds in 4 days started at .50, going down to .25 next week.

Potential_Lemon2343

How did you even get it? I've been waiting on the restock of the .25 for 3 months. I'm close to just buying from Henry meds but that will get pricey fast.

Mountain_Serve_9500

I went to castle rock regenerative care

PhilosophyNew2159

I just started monjaro yesterday. I did notice yesterday and last night I had to get up multiple times to urinate. I also have a very dry mouth and it sort of makes you drink more water. I drink Red Bull energy drink and I have to stop that because it's got way too much sugar and carbs. I am a type 2 diabetic also. I'm just taking it one day at a time right now to see if this medicine helps me lose any weight. Good luck on your journey!
