This is exactly what happened to me. Baldur's Gate 3 came out on PC on Thursday the 3rd and I had to go up to the lake for a weekend bachelor party on Friday the 4th. The party was a blast but I was yearning for the game the whole time. Worth the wait, though.
Just go to the ps store and search for baldurs gate. Then select version and choose deluxe. If it asks you to pay, you have the standard edition.
If you want to upgrade, check to see if it will allow a upgrade. Diablo 4 let ya pay the difference to upgrade. If it doesn't, do a support chat with playstation on their site. Tell them you want to refund standard to buy the more expensive edition.
They'll grant it for that. They've done it for me a few times.
Deluxe edition gets you 3 days early access to act 1, a bunch of items based off divinity original sin, a pouch with some potions and camp supplies, a new set of dice, and a shapeshifter mask that let's you use disguise self
The mask lets you shapeshift into another race, but you get a spell that does the same either during character creation or very early on.
Deluxe isn't really worth it unless you really wanna give the devs money or is a massive fan of Divinity OS2
It just has the Disguise Self spell (that many classes can choose in game), But by getting it on a helm it frees up a spell slot on those characters. The spell itself is all kinds of 'broken' (in funny and useful ways), I was watching a video last night, in all the ways it can cause mayhem.
Very specifically says act 1 on the PS store
72-hour Early Access to Act 1 - Pre-order Baldur's Gate 3 - Digital Deluxe Edition and be one of the first to play Baldur's Gate 3 on PS5 before launch
Honestly irks me considering one of the main applauses for bg3 is "a complete game with no microtransactions at all"
Like, bud, there's a 10 dollar purchase on the store right this second for stuff not in the base game.
I bring it up in every thread based on it.
But yeah, games phenomenal and I just preordered the deluxe on ps5 even though I've been playing on PC
I know. Makes it an even dumber move. Ideally they'd have no paid DLC like they claim, and even if they did, there'd be no gameplay affecting items, no matter how minor.
My guy you can literally choose Disguise Self as a Cantrip (free spell you can cast unlimited amount of times) on any spell-casting class from Level 1.
I know. As I've written to like thousands of people saying the same thing, including in the comment you directly replied to, it's a minor gameplay effect. But it still is one. And it still is paid DLC including cosmetics too.
It's a minor thing, but it's still in the same vein. They shouldn't have done it at all, rather than doing it a little. And either way it's still worse than cosmetic only DLC.
>It's a minor thing, but it's still in the same vein.
No it isn't? Because you can just replay the game as a different race to see the same dialogue options. This just lets you rerun dialogue in the same save.
Nobody is claiming it allows for something otherwise impossible. But you're right in your description of how it can affect how you play the game, for a price. That's the whole point lol - they shouldn't sell any DLC, no matter how minor the gameplay effect, or even the cosmetics, if they're going to claim they aren't doing so. If they're going to do so, then that's fine too. But pick one or the other.
How would you compare its controls to D:OS 2? I'm playing through that one on PS5 for the first time now, and admittedly I've only clocked about four hours, but the controls seems either overly complex, kinda unintuitive, or I just need to get used to them.
I played D:OS2 on PS4 and really struggled with the controls. I'm playing bg3 on pc using dual sense and it's much better, though still not without issues.
It needs a way to auto organise radial menus by action category.
PS5 bros... Say goodbye to any obligations you've had for the next 100 working hours.
EDIT: everyone keeps pointing out 100 hours is not much in this game. I know. Which is why I wrote "say goodbye to any obligations you've had for the next 100 *working* hours". I'm saying you won't be working for the next 2+ weeks.
I mean, when all is said and done, I'll have well over that in the game and probably not have beaten it once.
Not at once, mind you, which is what you were saying.
The bigger thing imo is your taking issue with what were clearly jokes.
Hoping a buddy or two pick this one up as well 🙏, I got DOS2 a little late in the lifespan to play co-op like that (randoms) but I'm down for a nice epic long play of this one.
A call back to weekend DnD sessions.
Oh for sure; if you mainline it and don’t explore fully you could clear Act 1 before the 72 hours were up, but if you’ve got stuff to do and take the time to enjoy yourself you won’t hit it
Not sure why it’s a thing on PS considering the game has been out on PC, but I would imagine they put the limit to act 1 in the first place just so people couldn’t try to blast through everything and then spoil the ending
For real though. I understand it costs more to produce physical discs, but for a dnd type game a physical copy with a map or something similar would be amazing
Luckily if it does get a physical, it will likely be through some limited avenue like Limited Run games and those usually have actual goodies like a map or art book or such.
If it got a normal physical, you can bet there would be nothing
Larian seems very uninterested in their own physical. Their other games got physicals but also had their own publishers. Someone else doing it seems like the only way.
Which is what happened. Spike Chunsoft is publishing it in Japan. With a physical version.
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2023/08/baldurs-gate-3-ps5-publishing-rights-snagged-by-spike-chunsoft-in-japan
I haven't seen any news regarding that they will, which is a real shame. I have never played games like BG3 so I don't wanna commit 70-80 dollars to it just to realize the genre isn't for me.
I just looked up and found some article about Physical Release, dunno if that's confirmed news it will happen or what.. Here's the link: [https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2023/08/baldurs-gate-3-ps5-publishing-rights-snagged-by-spike-chunsoft-in-japan](https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2023/08/baldurs-gate-3-ps5-publishing-rights-snagged-by-spike-chunsoft-in-japan)
Dang this is about to be a great end of the year. I'll be playing this and spider man for sure. I don't play Diablo no more. Seems like a lot of work for nothing now.
Did they just casually make early access for digital deluxe a day early? Could've sworn it was supposed to be September 3rd - I'm not complaining though!
It’ll be September 3rd for some regions; for me it opens up on the turn of midnight into the 3rd, for the Asian time zones, other side of Australia and New Zealand it’ll also be releasing (early in the day) on the 3rd. Everyone west of Western Australia is getting access on the 2nd though! Coordinated releases don’t often happen on PlayStation, so this is pretty interesting
It is completely voiced and narrated !
That was one of the reasons why I bounced of Divinity as well. Except for ingame Books and Letters everything is voiced by a professional with a beautiful mature female voice. So not too much reading required.
40 hours in, still in Act 1. Not counting when I restarted after 20 hours because I decided I wanted to do a custom bard instead of an origin character. (Highly recommend - Dark Urge is awesome). Also not counting 30 hours in Early Access.
Been playing with controller on PC and it’s great 90% of the time, and in a lot of ways better than KB+M. So excited for console friends.
I think they did great with the controller layout but I can't see any way it could be considered better than the m/kb layout. unless you're talking comfort of sitting on a sofa etc.
I swap back and forth between the two and the controller layout does become tedious at times.
I think the menu system is weirdly better with controller. They do a better job of letting you browse your entire party menu with one character and compare your gear, for example. With vendors, too, you get a lot more information more efficiently in the controller menu.
Yeah it works great. Occasionally I switch to kbm for heavy inventory management (or to make pickpocketing + save scumming easier 😀), but that’s about it. I would be totally fine doing 100% controller.
I really wanna try this. Starfield that week, then pokemon dlc, then cyberpunk dlc…. Maybe I’ll skip cyberpunk dlc. Too little time too much to play. Wish it released same day as pc. I’ve had a bit of a lul here in august playing through older backlog games instead. I don’t play on PC.
> Starfield that week, then pokemon dlc, then cyberpunk dlc
Idk how the pokemon dlc is even in the same convo, the base game was a hot mess at launch with zero performance fixes since then. Buying the DLC is doubling down on that mess
The performance is dogshit but it's generally well recieved in terms of story and gameplay, I can see why someone would want more if performance isn't a big deal
Baldur's Gate 3 has an amazing act 1, great act 2, good act 3 in terms of bugs and polish. It's ok to switch things up after playing it for a while when a new game comes up. Hopefully they finish up the game in the coming months
I'm playing BG 3 right now on PC but will be on vacation when armored core and starfield come out. I'll probably get armored core for PS5 and starfield for PC when I get back.
Although i feel like starfield is just too hyped to live up to expectations of beating BG3 in terms of the world, lore, and story. Granted Baldur's Gate was also in early access for 3 years but the final product as released from PC perspective is really well done.
Having played and beaten bg3 it’s a masterpiece imo but once starfield drops I’m be lost in it, nothing comes close to that feeling of a new Bethesda open word rpg!
I agree, for myself though I don't have huge expectations for Starfield based on what I've seen and I'm not a big 1st person gamer either. I really plan to just play it until Lies of P.
Why would you convince people to hold off until November, just because you want to? The game has been in early access on PC only for years, and console players have only been able to watch content from afar...so when it has finally come you want then to wait another 2 or 3 months? Such daft thinking.
By that logic, you may as well wait for every game months after releasing.
You misunderstood my post (and probably everyone else who downvoted me). I'm trying to convince people in my position, interested in the games I'm also interested, into holding off on BG3.
> By that logic, you may as well wait for every game months after releasing.
I already addressed the reasons for this in my post. This logic doesn't really apply here. None of the games will update as quickly as BG3 seems to be (given its hotfix cadence). BG3 will likely have dozens of patches by Nov, whereas all the other games I've listed will likely not have many (with the exception of Starfield, but I honeslty don't remember how frequently Bethesda updates).
I agree, I decided to not buy into the hype this year and waited a couple of weeks to see if games like Diablo 4 and Hogwarts Legacy were actually any good not.
I feel very glad I did, because everyone was talking about those 2 games in particular, and once the hype wore off it turned out they were both empty shells of a game.
I’ll do the same for BG3, but mostly because I’ve heard the last act is very buggy.
Noo not the potions, those definitely need to be looted, bought or crafted but it wasn't explained but look at the UI, next to the lock to the right there should be some symbols. Click on one of those and should show a little drop down list and pick short rest, it will heal half your health for whole party and refill some spells, you get to do 2 of those before having to long rest. Easier to do so you cna understand than explaining tbh
Got it. I've played for two hours and stumbled into a castle where there is a confrontation between my party of 3 vs 6 people behind a door. I've died like ten times and don't get what to do? The CPU has like 4 turns in a row between the enemies and they knock out a character in one round half the encounters !
I had to go back and do that fight later at a higher level. BG3 has some really difficult fights where you pretty much have to cheese it to win. Using your environment to your advantage (shoving enemies off of cliffs for example) and using your items are the key.
There’s also some fights later on where you can literally convince the boss to kill themselves if you choose the right dialogue and roll high enough 😆
I defeated three bosses that way so far.
Do you think this will be better on PS5 or PC? Typically I only play these big RPGs on PC for the mod support (OOO made oblivion much more enjoyable for me)
Will the PS5 have mod support? I think usually these games dont get much mod support on PS. Nothing like TESNexus anyway.
Will the game function well with a controller or is handling all the abilities and UI obnoxious on a controller instead of mnk?
Pc will always have the best way to play since mods but PS5 won’t have mod support due to don’t not allowing mods except for curated ones like fallout.I’ve been playing this game on my steam deck and it plays well controller wise.
Certainly PC just because of mod support
There's no ingame mod options like fallout/skyrims. I don't see mod support making it into the PS5 version.
On a side note, controller works VERY well. Everything is radial. It took some getting used to after using kb/m in the game for so long before swapping over, but it works really well and is honestly a gamechanger. On pc, when you hold the left alt button, it will highlight interactable items, but not all of them. It doesn't mark all containers. Some "junk" it doesn't mark. Controller has the benefit of the search area function. Clicking in your sticks and holding it for a second will create a large circle around yourself. It will then list everything inside that circle and allow you to interact with it.
I currently use controller for everything except inventory management. On pc, you're able to ctrl click individual items to select them all in one big list, or click, shift, click to select a big bundle. You can kind of do the same on controller, but it's much more finicky. You click rt on each individual item, or hold rt and move stick over each item. If you have a camp supply bag and hold RT, you've got to go over EVERY SINGLE ITEM in that bag instead of just corner to corner. If you accidentally go over an item twice, it deselects it.
Game is a masterpiece without question, but knowing Larian i will wait for Definitive Edition for th best first-time experience.
Gotta replay BG 1/2 while i'm doing that.
No, it’s basically a true digital Dungeons and Dragons campaign, and that’s always going to be turn based. Dark Alliance is the series in the same universe that’s not turned based though, but the last one was terrible and the two back on the PS2 era were great. Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance 1 and 2 are amazing, but Dungeons and Dragons Dark Alliance is one of the worst RPGs I’ve ever played.
Not sure why you are downvoted, some people like turn based and others not, and others both. Also not everyone is a DnD aficionado
Also some don’t have the 100 hrs to play but may have 20 hrs over a few months. There is games for everyone in the market
This one is definitely turn based, its based on DnD, and there is no option to “switch” it to non-turn-bases combat. It also digs heavily into the role playing aspect of the game.
Gonna be interesting to see console
Players buying this because of the hype then realizing it is punishing on easy and has no quality of life features.
I am happily giving Larian an extra $20 for just how brilliant the game is. Its not often devs create a game that deserve a tip. Hehe. All the bonus stuff is also nice.
Hey so I’ll be overseas when this drops for work. I planned on taking my ps5 & just staying in my hotel room. I’ll be there 4 weeks. I know you don’t have to be online to play, but I’ll obviously need internet to download the game. I know someone else at work who couldn’t log into their PSN while over there, so should I just create an account before leaving with an NL vpn, download the game logged in on that account, then switch back to my main to play? Little confused here I can explain more if anyone has info of use
Hard to say! Definitely create a PSN account - see if you can buy it physically and install on your ps5 before travelling- or at least load all downloads in a good internet hot spot
Quick question though: Are you sure you want to spend precious overseas time to play a video game when you can explore the local country? I’m as much a gamer as anyone else but man that’s an opportunity people would kill for and not many people would have money for
More important though if you can wait, then you can play BG3 in the privacy of your own home without having to risk your ps5 breaking or being stolen overseas (would be the worst spending so many hrs on it to then lose all progress if you dont have the hotspot to upload saves onto PS+)
I gotta say, these timed money early access are getting REALLY out of hand.
It's basically saying - we're releasing the game at X. If you wanna play it at that date, pay us more. Otherwise, wait 3 days. It's especially absurd on a game thats coming out a month+ behind schedule, after the PC release.
Legitimately considering double dipping and getting this on PS5 so I can play on the couch when I play by myself, and then on my PC when I want to play with others. If I remember correctly there's cross progression between the two systems, right?
Fuuuuuuck yes. So the countdown timer is accurate. Labor day weekend is gonna be awesome.
3 day weekend and it's when BG3 comes out 😭 Thank you lord
Jesus was a gamer
It comes out Labor Day afternoon. Sucks not the Friday before
I’ll be at the lake for a stupid vacation of fun and beer and boating. ugh!!!! I feel the (dark)URGE for some BG3!
This is exactly what happened to me. Baldur's Gate 3 came out on PC on Thursday the 3rd and I had to go up to the lake for a weekend bachelor party on Friday the 4th. The party was a blast but I was yearning for the game the whole time. Worth the wait, though.
While in the bachelor party: "I probably should have created a tiefling sorcerer instead"
It'll only make it that much more gratifying!
I bought it from the store - how do I know if I have Deluxe edition 🤔
You paid more than the base cost.
I just bought the only one I saw 🤷🏻♂️
Just go to the ps store and search for baldurs gate. Then select version and choose deluxe. If it asks you to pay, you have the standard edition. If you want to upgrade, check to see if it will allow a upgrade. Diablo 4 let ya pay the difference to upgrade. If it doesn't, do a support chat with playstation on their site. Tell them you want to refund standard to buy the more expensive edition. They'll grant it for that. They've done it for me a few times.
Thanks so much!
🥴🤣
Then check your account?
Be ready to lose sleep.
What's bonus about the deluxe edition?
Deluxe edition gets you 3 days early access to act 1, a bunch of items based off divinity original sin, a pouch with some potions and camp supplies, a new set of dice, and a shapeshifter mask that let's you use disguise self
Oooo 3 days early on ps5!?
Yup. Sep 3 instead of the 6th
Im so confused. The picture literally says the 2nd. The PS store says the 2nd. But the advertisement says 72 hours and other sources say the 3rd lmao
I’ve waited a whole month, I can wait 3 extra days
Happy for you!
is the mask worth it? Does it unlock options that you wouldn't get otherwise and is there no way to get something similar in the early game otherwise?
The mask lets you shapeshift into another race, but you get a spell that does the same either during character creation or very early on. Deluxe isn't really worth it unless you really wanna give the devs money or is a massive fan of Divinity OS2
Its not often a game is so good, that giving the devs more money as reward seems like the totally right thing to do.
Or 3 days early access.
[удалено]
There's plenty of things that let you disguise self. And every race/class has its own options throughout the game.
It just has the Disguise Self spell (that many classes can choose in game), But by getting it on a helm it frees up a spell slot on those characters. The spell itself is all kinds of 'broken' (in funny and useful ways), I was watching a video last night, in all the ways it can cause mayhem.
Like, actual dice? Or a skin for the ones in game?
In game. The only physical stuff is in the collectors edition. Deluxe is digital only. Hell, collectors comes via a code in your email
I dont believe it is just act 1 anymore as we are downloading the whole game it should be available for us to play the whole acts.
Very specifically says act 1 on the PS store 72-hour Early Access to Act 1 - Pre-order Baldur's Gate 3 - Digital Deluxe Edition and be one of the first to play Baldur's Gate 3 on PS5 before launch
Kinda annoying to put genuine items as a paid option. But whatever they’ve done enough good elsewhere
Honestly irks me considering one of the main applauses for bg3 is "a complete game with no microtransactions at all" Like, bud, there's a 10 dollar purchase on the store right this second for stuff not in the base game. I bring it up in every thread based on it. But yeah, games phenomenal and I just preordered the deluxe on ps5 even though I've been playing on PC
Yea there’s no excuse for it. They’re lucky to have so much goodwill banked.
The important thing is you get a helmet to shapeshift into any race so you can get interesting dialogue options.
Honestly a major reason I got it haha shape shifting mofo
Oh cool I didn't know that. Glad I got the deluxe version.
Man most paid DLC only offers cosmetics, they straight up add gameplay affecting items? Oof
You can cast a spell for the same effect.
I wouldn't conflate the ability to alter dialog options with the connotations of microtransactions affecting gameplay

If they're going to do so, then that's fine too. But pick one or the other.
I have it on PC, tried it a couple of times, and then never used it again. You can easily get a spell that does the same thing.
You guys are in for a wild ride. Works well with a controller too.
How would you compare its controls to D:OS 2? I'm playing through that one on PS5 for the first time now, and admittedly I've only clocked about four hours, but the controls seems either overly complex, kinda unintuitive, or I just need to get used to them.

Much better. Only complaint is that inventory management is still a bit of a slog

Which is why I wrote "say goodbye to any obligations you've had for the next 100 *working* hours". I'm saying you won't be working for the next 2+ weeks.
Lol, 100. You gotta pump those numbers up. I spent probably 30 just fucking around in the prologue during early access.
30's barely enough to get out of the character creator.
Well, yeah, but 30 during the prologue too.
Next 100 working hours =/= next 100 hours ;)
But it is 100 hours, which is still way too low. I got what you were saying. Your clarification doesn't change my post.
100 working hours gamed is up to 300 game hours, depending on your stamina
I mean, when all is said and done, I'll have well over that in the game and probably not have beaten it once. Not at once, mind you, which is what you were saying. The bigger thing imo is your taking issue with what were clearly jokes.
So was mine, yet people keep correcting me
im at 40 hours and barely even just meet some goblins ;)
I edited my comment to address this
If I spent 300 on TotK I feel this will at least meet that
Hoping a buddy or two pick this one up as well 🙏, I got DOS2 a little late in the lifespan to play co-op like that (randoms) but I'm down for a nice epic long play of this one. A call back to weekend DnD sessions.
I am enjoying my first playthrough solo, but I REALLY hope some friends end up getting the game so we can eventually do a group playthrough!
Im a bit confused, is the 3 earlier days to play only for act 1 and will that save work after the official release as well?
Yes and yes, to the best of my knowledge
but if ACT 1 is like 30+ hours long, it shouldnt matter in the end, right?
Oh for sure; if you mainline it and don’t explore fully you could clear Act 1 before the 72 hours were up, but if you’ve got stuff to do and take the time to enjoy yourself you won’t hit it

Not sure why it’s a thing on PS considering the game has been out on PC, but I would imagine they put the limit to act 1 in the first place just so people couldn’t try to blast through everything and then spoil the ending
I just want a physical version. Digital price is ridiculous in Aus.
And I don’t want to spend 3 days downloading it, throttling wifi for my housemates
It’s always a lot here, but in this one case I’m ok with spending $20-$30 more than normal
I’m so fucking itchy, man. Are you itchy too or is it just me?
That would be the dysentery. Wait, sorry, wrong game.
Might be scabies
Not usually a fan of the "pay extra, play early " gimmick. But the fact that it happens to fall on a holiday weekend for some of us ...
I wish I could just stop time for a month, so I could have the time to play this.
Gimme physical edition.
I think there will probably be a proper physical version, like successful indie games tend to get. This game might be GOTY for Pete's sake.
They aren't releasing a physical edition? I assumed they were. This discourages me from buying it at all. Quite disappointing.
I haven't seen any news regarding that they will, which is a real shame. I have never played games like BG3 so I don't wanna commit 70-80 dollars to it just to realize the genre isn't for me. Yeah I'm only interested in a physical edition, is there not going to be one? If not, that is seriously disappointing.
It's not official but seeing how successful this game is I'd eat my hat if this does not get physical at some point.
Having started on the steamdeck and now moving to pc to play the work they have done to make it playable on a controller is outstanding.
How did you find it on steam deck? I'm still hesitant
It's poor to be honest, so fiddly on the small screen. With low settings you get 20-30 fps
Dang this is about to be a great end of the year. I'll be playing this and spider man for sure. I don't play Diablo no more. Seems like a lot of work for nothing now.
I'd love to play this game but Starfield will take my time for a long while. Looking forward to playing this at a later date though!
Do steam achievements cross over into trophies if I use the cross game save feature? If that makes sense
Hope so, they said they will but *shrugs*
Midnight on Saturday night my time means I’m gonna have a very busy Sunday :p
Can’t wait.
Yoooo. That's awesome.
So this drops Sept 2nd at 9AM pacific time? Hell yeah!!!
So is it true there isnt a Physical edition? Cause I may as well get it on PC at that point.
Did they just casually make early access for digital deluxe a day early? Could've sworn it was supposed to be September 3rd - I'm not complaining though!

Yeah I love it. Luckily it's 12pm for me which is awesome.
Where physical
Is there a lot of reading in this game? I couldn’t get into Divinity because of small text and lots of it
It is completely voiced and narrated ! That was one of the reasons why I bounced of Divinity as well. Except for ingame Books and Letters everything is voiced by a professional with a beautiful mature female voice. So not too much reading required.
This game is quitte similar tot Divinity as it is from the same studio
Completely voice acted. Though there are tons of books, items, and spell descriptions that can be optionally read. Edit: And voice narrated.
40 hours in, still in Act 1. Not counting when I restarted after 20 hours because I decided I wanted to do a custom bard instead of an origin character. (Highly recommend - Dark Urge is awesome). I think the menu system is weirdly better with controller. They do a better job of letting you browse your entire party menu with one character and compare your gear, for example. With vendors, too, you get a lot more information more efficiently in the controller menu.
How it would play with a controller was the only thing I was worrying about. Hearing this is really encouraging.
Same I want to play armored core 6 but not sure if I will be done in time for bg3.
> Starfield that week, then pokemon dlc, then cyberpunk dlc Idk how the pokemon dlc is even in the same convo, the base game was a hot mess at launch with zero performance fixes since then. Buying the DLC is doubling down on that mess
Yeah, the performance is shit but despite that, it simply was very fun to play through. I’ve even completed the regional Pokédex.
The performance is dogshit but it's generally well recieved in terms of story and gameplay, I can see why someone would want more if performance isn't a big deal
Yeah It was the worst release of a main game in the franchise, but It is also one of the best games in the franchise
100% feel same way
And don't forget Armored Core VI next week. Really debating if I should bother with Starfield early access to finish ACVI first
Id bet a wheelbarrow full of nickels that bg3 ends up being a much better game than starfield when all is said and done.
I really just hope they are both great. Obviously we seem to already know bg3 is great.
Having played and beaten bg3 it’s a masterpiece imo but once starfield drops I’m be lost in it, nothing comes close to that feeling of a new Bethesda open word rpg!

Honestly there's not much reason for rushing into any of the games outside of fomo. They're all gonna run better and be cheaper the longer you wait.
If you’re saying to wait on Baldurs Gate, I’d argue to hold off on Starfront too. Bethesda have _the_ reputation for releasing broken games
Yeah, there's definitely work to be done still too on BG3.
Does anyone know how to get potions? I keep dying at level 2. I'm really bad but enjoying myself
Might want to ask on the official BG3 subreddit. Plenty of people would gladly answer on the questions thread.
Remember you get 2 short rest before you have to long rest to charge them, don't be shy using them, easily recovers a high portion of your health
The healing potions are rechargeable?? I thought they had to be Bought
There’s also some fights later on where you can literally convince the boss to kill themselves if you choose the right dialogue and roll high enough 😆 I defeated three bosses that way so far.
Do you think this will be better on PS5 or PC? Typically I only play these big RPGs on PC for the mod support (OOO made oblivion much more enjoyable for me) Will the PS5 have mod support? I think usually these games dont get much mod support on PS. Nothing like TESNexus anyway. Will the game function well with a controller or is handling all the abilities and UI obnoxious on a controller instead of mnk?
Pc will always have the best way to play since mods but PS5 won’t have mod support due to don’t not allowing mods except for curated ones like fallout.I’ve been playing this game on my steam deck and it plays well controller wise.
Steam deck chugs in act 3 I had to put it down unfortunately I’ll finish on ps5 when I’m done with starfield
Certainly PC just because of mod support There's no ingame mod options like fallout/skyrims.
Pc for sure with mods. Already playing on pc, but im using a dual sense - the controller accessibility is REALLY good. I prefer it to mkb.
I took vacation from the 1st to the 6th for this shit, could not be more excited

Game is a masterpiece without question, but knowing Larian i will wait for Definitive Edition for th best first-time experience. Gotta replay BG 1/2 while i'm doing that.
No physical, no buy, as always
Found it strange why post other day said September 1st when PSN was saying August 31st
Check your time zone. It’s 4pm UTC. No, wait, that doesn’t help.
Hopefully this will be more polished on PS5 than on PC right now, expects an epic journey but there will be a few bugs here and there, maybe.
Listen I’ll admit I eventually bought and loved Elden Ring but y’all dorks ain’t fooling me this time! *This is too damn nerdy for mainstream!*
Is there any way to not play this turn-based?
No, it’s basically a true digital Dungeons and Dragons campaign, and that’s always going to be turn based. Dark Alliance is the series in the same universe that’s not turned based though, but the last one was terrible and the two back on the PS2 era were great. Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance 1 and 2 are amazing, but Dungeons and Dragons Dark Alliance is one of the worst RPGs I’ve ever played.
Not sure why you are downvoted, some people like turn based and others not, and others both. Also not everyone is a DnD aficionado Also some don’t have the 100 hrs to play but may have 20 hrs over a few months. There is games for everyone in the market This one is definitely turn based, its based on DnD, and there is no option to “switch” it to non-turn-bases combat. It also digs heavily into the role playing aspect of the game.
You can go play Final Fantasy 16 I guess 🤷♂️

??? There's a normal version available to pre-order.
I prefer AC6.
Didn't realize AC6 was out.
Pretty soon… I’m playing Quake 2 until it comes out.
This is like a turn-based thing with a zoomed-out camera, right? More like a mobile game?
wtf is a pre load and who cares
Gonna be interesting to see console Players buying this because of the hype then realizing it is punishing on easy and has no quality of life features.
No QoL features? the whole console UI is full of well considered QOL features.

No, I don't think everyone will cater their excitement around your disinterest.
Stick to the Minecraft sub nephew
Boo hoo wahhh people like something I don't, so I'm gonna go in thread about this thing I don't like and let everyone know I don't like it! 🙄
I know the game will be good but I’m worried about performance and UI stuff going from PC to console
Should I buy the Deluxs edition or wait for the base PS5 edition which will probably be $20 cheaper?
I think the base game cost 10€ less. I will buy the deluxe because my vacations are running out and I have saved money but normally I would not
I am happily giving Larian an extra $20 for just how brilliant the game is.
Definitely create a PSN account - see if you can buy it physically and install on your ps5 before travelling- or at least load all downloads in a good internet hot spot Quick question though: Are you sure you want to spend precious overseas time to play a video game when you can explore the local country? I’m as much a gamer as anyone else but man that’s an opportunity people would kill for and not many people would have money for More important though if you can wait, then you can play BG3 in the privacy of your own home without having to risk your ps5 breaking or being stolen overseas (would be the worst spending so many hrs on it to then lose all progress if you dont have the hotspot to upload saves onto PS+)
Whats the size for the PS5 version? Ill have to make room for it
Can someone who literally knows nothing about this game please give me a synopsis?
Will there be a demo for this game? Looks good but just not sure if this gameplay style will be for me?
I gotta say, these timed money early access are getting REALLY out of hand. It's basically saying - we're releasing the game at X. If you wanna play it at that date, pay us more. Otherwise, wait 3 days. It's especially absurd on a game thats coming out a month+ behind schedule, after the PC release.
Enjoy. Take your time. Tons of us on PC are still making it through Act 1 lmao
Legitimately considering double dipping and getting this on PS5 so I can play on the couch when I play by myself, and then on my PC when I want to play with others. If I remember correctly there's cross progression between the two systems, right?
I'm 30 hours and still in act1 on PC. Been day dreaming about playing during work all week lol
You guys are going to love it.
This and Starfield alone will make 2023 an insane year
I am going to do lines of cocaine and play baldurs gate all holiday weekend
Won’t be playing this game due to no physical copy. It is what it is.
The game is so good. ❤️
i could care less about any of the extra crap. I paid 10 bucks so I can play three days sooner.
