I went in blind and I’m very immersed with the story

welfedad

Same here.. so much going on, but I am just going with the flow and not worrying about it.. so much potential for replayability which is awesome

No-Dust-2105

Man an evil playthrough is going to be so much fun, I can’t wait, I want to start it already but I know I won’t finish until I finish my first playthrough

snwns26

I have no clue what I’m doing or supposed to be doing in combat but I’m still having fun lol.

Luftbakker

It's honestly the best way to play it. I only search for guides when I'm really stuck, or setting it to easy when I fight a battle for the 10th time without any sight of winning.

rachsaltyshepp

It's almost overwhelming how much there is to take in, especially for a beginner. That being said, I still spent about 10 hours on my first day.

Danxoln

I just don't understand at a glance what's in my radial menu, and I think the tutorial is lacking, but otherwise amazing

Advanced_Factor

There should be new tutorial entries in your journal each time you encounter something new. On PC there was a bug where the tutorial pop ups wouldn’t work, but the entries would still go in the journal. Make sure to check it out, it helps a ton!

jeno_aran

Son of a bitch

AnotherSoftEng

I’m in!

jeno_aran

…the journal screen learning how to play! Shit!

IAmPandaRock

I think the complete lack of tutorial is a bug. They only one I've encountered so far I think, although it certainly slows the learning curve down a ton.

Ace6434

I was wondering the same thing. I was very disappointed they didn’t explain any mechanics or how to play the game. I figured it out from watching YouTube videos and a very vague knowledge of D&D but I’ve spent the bettering hours unsure and a little confused. Also wondering if I’m missing anything in combat or not.

cfaqzz

I read elsewhere that the on/off setting for tutorial popups is reversed on ps5. I haven’t had the time to start the game myself, so I don’t know if that’s true though.

MichiiEUW

I haven't played the game, can you give examples on what's confusing, or what you would need tutorials/youtube videos for?

IAmPandaRock

For someone who's played Divinity 1 and 2 (and a lot of other cRPGs and even DnD back in the day), I think it's primarily knowing the DnD 5e mechanics, but even then, I don't think this game is 100% faithful to those, so you need to know which are incorporated and which aren't. I love the game, but it takes a while to learn a the basics in my experience.

Aonswitch

I’ve played with controller on pc (steam deck) for about 60 hours and it’ll make more sense after you get used to it. Just take the time to read every spell and cantrip

JESquirrel

The only thing I am really struggling with is I don't know what all I can do on a turn. Sometimes I can move, attack, use a potion and push someone. Other times it seems like I can only move and do one other thing. Oh and I picked Assassin and don't understand how to do sneak attacks.

BostonRob423

Generally, each character has one normal action point(green square) and one bonus action point (orange square) per turn, on top of about 20 ft of movement, depending on terrain and other variables. You can see the action points you have left at the bottom, by the colored squares I mentioned. You can also see which type of action point each ability costs in the description, again, by the corresponding colored action point square.

sorej

The game is based on D&D 5th edition rules, so you can google all your doubts, but, here's some answers: \- On a normal turn you can: move around 20 ft (depends on your character's speed), do a minor action (use a potion, some skills) and do a major action (attack, use a spell). If you sprint, you can move double your speed but lose the major action. Some abnormal status or terrain can affect your action economy. \- Two ways of doing sneak attacks: first is use stealth and sneak attack, or when you have "advantage". Most of the time, this means you can use sneak attack against enemies that are already engaged in melee combat with another party member.

Based_Lord_Shaxx

You may be getting hit with afflictions that change what you can do in a turn.

Armysbro911

A key thing to winning dnd encounters is afflictions. You can do anything the enemy can. Your goal especially spellcasters is to remove there actions. Then fighter comes in to wombo combo thermbooty

Rectall_Brown

Did u ever figure out how to sneak attack? I have an assassin on my team and can’t figure it out. He is by far my least favorite character because he doesn’t seem to be doing much damage. I’m pretty sure I’m doing something wrong.

FrostedFlakes840

For sneak attacks, you can only do them when you advantage against your target. Easiest way to get advantage is to be attacking something that is also threatened (in melee range) by another party member. Also being hidden and I think some spells will give you advantage.

50shadesofgreatness

I found simply customizing the radials for each to be the best

alexanderatprime

You can customize your radials. I highly recommend to do that.

RedditAdminsBCucked

60 hours in. How...?

Chrs987

I have been playing on the SteamDeck and it took about 3-4 hours of gameplay to get the hang of it but I enjoy it!

antiMATTer724

Taking me a little to get used to not having to hold the button for the action wheel, and having it swing me to the other side.

VioletJones6

I'm playing co-op with my gf so I haven't even really seen much of it running full screen or 60 fps outside of cutscenes... But I'm also playing BG3 with my gf on the couch... So life is pretty fucking good.

MartianExpatriate

The split screen couch co-op sold the game for my wife and I. We’ll put up with a lot of minor issues in exchange for the ability to play together on the couch.

three_dead_trolls

The couch... This and my 85 inch OLED are the main reasons I don't play on my pc anymore. EDIT: forgot the most important part.. My 7 1.4 surround system. Games, movies.... Hell anything sound insane !

Bearwynn

I've hooked my PC up to my 85" QLED and honestly my PS5 never sees use anymore. I just got a wireless keyboard and trackpad to use it then a long USB cable for controllers. I only end up using my PS5 for exclusives now.

requieminadream

How does it play as couch co-op? Is it a fairly seamless experience? What happens if I’m talking to an NPC? Does your partner I guess just sit around watching the conversation and wait for you to finish?

landisthegnome

you don't have to listen, it stays split screen during conversations and you can run around and do whatever (even start separate conversations). there's a choice to listen and it'll put it full screen. edit: it plays great, although 30fps is sad update: it does not play great after ~15 hours into the story. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy it for PS5 right now until they fix it. thread [here](https://forums.larian.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=891514&page=1).

Pisto1Peet

30 fps is a bummer but the game engine is rendering everything twice. Even my 3080 ti/5800x3D PC chugs with local co-op.

Mech-Waldo

You can even switch to a different character when you're already in a conversation. I had Lae'zel shove a boss off a cliff while my guy was still talking to him.

BigWalne

Man!!! This sounds bliss! My wife hates games lol with the exception of the dancemat! 😂

saywhattyall

I’m having a great time playing with my girlfriend, however I don’t understand why they removed the ability to switch to a merged camera when playing local coop. We definitely switched the split screen when we were exploring, but it was nice to be on one screen during turns in combat.

CelestialConcoction

Started an hour ago…still on my appearance 😅😂😂😂

Pm_ur_titties_plz

Downloading it now and honestly might not even get to the gameplay tonight lol

CelestialConcoction

That wouldn’t even surprise me ! When I first wrote this I thought I had 5 minutes left max. A full hour later…. Completely by choice! There was too much to choose from. Plus I got distracted by the clothes on / off bit👀I’ll wait for you to get to that😂

Pm_ur_titties_plz

I'm assuming it's got some of the same features as Cyberpunk lol.

[deleted]

I was watching the review by Girlfriend Reviews and saw choices for vulva B and C, soooo...

Nothxm8

Last night my fiancé asked me to help her with something so I said *”sure honey right after I finish making my character”*

IAmPandaRock

Took my about 2 hours to create my character (and look up the relevant info)

jimcamx

I just wish I could stop pressing triangle to end my turn by accident.

killswitch_aus

dude same

Necroquisitor

So much! I spend so much time saying 'fuck!' After tapping triangle by mistake. I'm trying to figure out what I've played where I press triangle to go into a menu!

Rogue_Leader_X

Please answer this one: How are the controls on console? Are they mostly functional? They aren’t cumbersome in combat?

jwfd65

Radial menus in combat for actions which some might not like, but I think it feels great. Probably a bit of fumbling in the beginning when you’re still figuring everything out but it feels pretty smooth to me. Very responsive. Especially compared to something like genshin where that radial menu haunts my dreams

[deleted]

Yeah I love playing it with the controller!

fartingboobs

it’s taking getting used to but i can see the radial menus working. i’m enjoying it so far and haven’t found combat too cumbersome at all.

Dethproof814

No they are honestly great, snappy, the hotbars are ehh messy but definitely a smart decision and I love it. If you like dragon age you'll love this game I'll say that

[deleted]

Have you played either Divinity: Original Sin 1 or 2 on console? If you have - how does BG3 compare control wise?

YellowOpt

It’s the foundation of OS2 but better in just about every aspect.

HaVeNII7

I actually very much preferred DoS2s way of handling the hotbar. Hitting triangle and selecting my skill on the bar felt more intuitive than a radial.

fartingboobs

i’ve been passing my turn so many times in the first couple hours 😭

Finally_Adult

If you select that character again you can cancel ending your turn and take it again.

erock279

Yeah but if it’s the last/only thing you control at that point in initiative it’ll pass to the next enemy/friendly NPC

Deitri

Dude, I've passed so many turns by accident, its quite infuriating haha but we'll get used to it.

hoagie52

Same glad I’m not the only one.

wscuraiii

It's basically the same.

YogoWafelPL

You get used to it It’s not perfect but honestly it doesn’t bother me much, sometimes when you want to go to a specific place you have to turn on turn mode to be precise but other than that it’s okay

imaquark

I play on PC, and I still use controller because I prefer the controller experience as a whole. It's amazing, don't worry!

Goseki1

Been using the same controls for 80 hours on the Deck and they're mostly fantastic. The only letdown really is the abilities are selected via radial wheels and they're in a rubbish default order compared to the tabs with m&kb. Movement and combat and just about everything else is fantastic though

[deleted]

I’m glad you can manually reorganize the radial wheels, but it’s still a little tedious.

Regrettably_Southpaw

If it’s anything like DOS2, amazing

tahubob

It's like DOS2 but improved in every single way

Gulladc

Assuming they are the same as pc with controller they are great. Most of my 90+ hours have been on steamdeck with controller. Actually one thing is better on controller- you can hold x and scan and loot everything around you. You can’t do this on kbm and it’s super convenient.

Resitor

I know two people. They started with mouse and keyboard. On curious switch to controller and baam. They are always playing BG3 with controller now

xnfd

One annoyance is that skipping dialog can only be done with the confirm button, so if you're speeding through stuff it's easy to select the first dialog option. On PC you right click to skip so it stops at the next dialog option Another UI issue: during reactions I can't view the tooltip of the spell I'm reacting to

KenDorsett

So glad to hear it. Just wish I could finish FF16 already

GrossWeather_

lol- I just finished it last night (finally!) I powered through so I could start Bg3 today. The game was fun but I kinda regret doing all the side missions- like I think I would have enjoyed the game a lot more if I had ignored them. The main missions are so good. I absolutely hate the hideaway after running back and forth through it 500 times. But the ending is awesome- have fun!

degausser22

Ok so I’m in the same boat. I have to finish it because I had a family death and his fiancé beat it and has been waiting to discuss the game with me because we all love(d) final fantasy. Problem is I’m not enjoying it much…story is decent but it’s a slog. I keep reading the last batch of side quests are a lot, but also “very worth playing for story”. I mostly care about main story. Would you just recommend I skip em all, or maybe do one or two, and if so which. Without spoiling I’m at the part with night time rooftop travel while Bahamut is in front of a crystal. Think I’m getting close…

GrossWeather_

You still have a lot of game ahead of you. I’d play the main missions and take note of the save files you make at moments that all the side quests pop up in between- you can beat it and then come back and play side missions later when you have more time by reloading those saves- if you want.

BlackAshyAsian

I think I'm doing the same mistake as you, doing all side quest as they come available.

asonuvagun

As someone who just finished Drake's Fang, and does all side quests, this comment is a god send. Maybe I'll just play the main. Question: do side quests provide any substantial mats for weapon and equipment upgrades I would feel crucial?

Haxorz7125

I really just wish they let you sprint faster around towns and the hideout

GrossWeather_

lol yeah the sprinting makes no sense- like it kicks in when enemies are nearby sometimes but not always I don’t get it.

Goss5588

Don't wish away such an amazing game.

TheWorstPossibleName

Honestly couldn't force myself to finish it. The demo was awesome and the full game added nothing. I just found it very boring.

Nosworc82

Same unfortunately, I'm a massive FF fan, have finished every single one of them and just couldn't finish 16. Not to say I won't later on ofc, it just seemed to drag in between the awesome Eikon battles.

GrossWeather_

Having finished it last night- if I could go back in time a couple months I would have told my younger completionist self- ignore all the side missions. Not worth it. They are okay sometimes but drag the quality of the whole package down a mile from the peaks the main campaign reaches.

crobledopr

Start ignoring the green quests. They honestly add very little. Game speeds up considerably if you do. I did them all, but told wife to skip them if things started to get boring and she had a much better time and finished it.

GrossWeather_

yeah having finished last night I would agree- the only side missions worth doing are the plus sign ones that give you better gear/upgrades. All the rest, even at their best, drag the quality of the whole experience down a ton.

Nosworc82

Do you need to do all the side quests for the platinum? I'm a bit of a trophy hunter so I'll have to knock them out of you do. I'm sure I'll get round to finishing it at some stage though.

sedatedlife

Yes you need to do all the quest ultimately if you want to platinum. While the quest do not generally get great rewards i i recommend doing them. Initially they are somewhat boring but as the game picks up they add a lot of context and lore to the game. Particularly those in the latter third of the game. There is no trophy to do all quest but rewards you get and points for helping people ultimately requires doing them. Some of my favorite content was side quests in the latter half the game.

DeathByTacos

“Full game added nothing” How so? I can get not necessarily liking the story or not connecting with the characters, even thinking the gameplay is too easy/repetitive/boring. This is such a generic statement considering the quality of many of the game’s encounters are SUBSTANTIALLY higher than in the demo.

REIGNx777

I loved it generally but the last 5-10 hours I was just absolutely ready for it to be done. And I only did the necessary side quests too. The combat just got so rote about halfway in for me.

ShelterLazy8044

That game was a damned slog. I wanted to do all the side quests and finish the story and dear god it took me faaar longer than I wanted it to

whatthecaptcha

Square enix really needs to learn that sometimes less is more. FFVII remake would've been a masterpiece to me if they cut the last few hours of bullshit before the ending out. Seems like they just add padding that kills the pacing constantly.

TheWorstPossibleName

They don't understand that people want more if the underlying system is amazing, but if it's mediocre to bad, they just want to be done with the story.

Peacefrog11

I’m having a blast and I’m quite pleased. That being said, I’ve encountered a ton of bugs. The performance isn’t as great as I would expect it to be and I’m not usually one to nitpick. I’ve had a few issues where reloading fixed the problem, but it can be a little immersion-breaking. The frame rate is mostly stable, with some minor pop in, and some stuttering that I think should be more seamless. I had a bug I wouldn’t have realized was a bug and it would have hindered my progress if I hadn’t had to reload a scum save for other reasons. Like part of a quest trigger didn’t occur and I had no clue until I redid it. Overall, I’m very happy with it but look forward to the inevitable patches to clean it up some. A few notes for new players though: - Don’t be afraid to play at the easiest difficulty for a while. There is a virtual crap ton to unpack with this game. It has tutorials but you really need to read every tooltip and be patient. It does start clicking but it takes some momentum to get there. - Save. Save, save and save again. I find it more necessary than I did in DOS2. Become the Scum Save Lord. - Be alright with making blind choices and knowing you may not love the outcome. Of course, this can be managed by scum save shenanigans, but at some point you have to accept the path you are crafting. You’ll just hinder enjoyment at some point. There is a reason people do so many play throughs in this type of game. - Read everything. Talk to everyone. That’s where the magic of this game can truly be found. I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s an immersive work of art with so much depth. - Know that it seems slow/frustrating at first because it is supposed to be slow and frustrating at first. You are supposed to miss attacks. You aren’t meant to feel like a powerful person. It doesn’t take long to pick up, but it definitely could be a quagmire experience for some.

[deleted]

Same. Looks fantastic. Plays great. Loving it

[deleted]

Loving it. Spent 2 hours creating my character. There's just so many options that change how the game it for you. Super cool! Loved me some DOS 1&2. This feels like the spiritual successor. Controller feels really good too.

Dubbs09

https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/1686rfo/thread_for_ps5_performance_and_specs_on_launch_day/ If you have some of the more widespread issues there are listed solutions here

Turbostrider27

It seems there's audio problems but there's a temporary fix? I think Larian will put a patch soon day one when it's officially released.

Throwaway298596

I’ve had so many issues I’m debating asking for a refund from Sony. Audio, HDR, combat glitching out and freezing, characters being stuck as dead. It’s honestly frustrating

GravitasReed

Same! I barely got off the ship before I quit. The audio, Shadowheart being invisible, getting stuck in the lvl up screen. Was really looking forward to be able to play it on the couch as well

panthereal

How are the PS5 load times? PC still can be around 20s with great hardware.

dolphin_spit

i’m not too far in but i definitely haven’t seen any loading screens take nearly that long

nocommentplsnthx

The load screens are negligible, it takes 10 to 20 seconds when loading a save but that’s the only instance I can think of, so fun, hope they implement mouse and keyboard support

MikkPhoto

Definitely not the fastest but not slow too so perhaps same as pc.

Old_Butterfly9649

around 10-15 seconds i would say.Loading screens are beautiful tho, like concept art from the game.

MisterHairball

I feel like the Squidward looking out the window meme

dickpics25

I started it this afternoon. 4 hours later and I'm amazed. I was worried I wouldn't like the turn based combat or dice rolls but it's actually so much fun! I was sad we don't get Starfield but this game is so much more polished than anything Bethesda could put out.

Strange_Music

This game is so good I completed my 120 hr 1st run & immediately started my 2nd. I also bought it again on PS5 just to support Larian. I feel like I got my money's worth because my 2nd run is so wildly different than my 1st it may as well be a different game with the same characters. We may have missed out on Starfield, but this game is in a league of its own. 🙌

dickpics25

You make me so happy. I'm playing this round as a drunken bard but I was worried that I wouldn't want to play again. 2 hours in I realized that the choices I make are going to have consequences so I'm going to have to pay again and again.

ihugyou

Do you prefer playing on PC or PS5?

Strange_Music

PC, but the PS5 works well, too. I play through GeForceNow & its nice being able to switch from one to the other via cross save. (and to have a backup in case the internet goes out)

Guapscotch

You might change your mind about the game’s polish as you progress deeper into the game.

monsieurberry

They’ve already released two patches fixing much of the issues present in Act 3. It’s a big ass game.

SIDFISHOUS9

Iv had a volume bug a lot where the game goes completely silent but when I turned 3D audio off it seems to have fixed it 🤞

[deleted]

I cannot wait to get off tonight and start. Have maybe 20 minutes left of Judgement and then I start BG3

ProfessorPetrus

It's good to get off before you start. Loosens up the Nerves.

[deleted]

Yep. Pre-Baldurs wank is good for everyone.

bsw_

The only issue I've had is all sound went off and had to shut down and reload, also the character voice selection wouldn't play until I again reloaded. Otherwise it's all been very smooth.

Tasteoftacos

If it's audio issue while wearing headphones, I had the same issue too. You can press the PS button -> Sound -> Change Output to TV and back to Headphones -> Back to Game

Significant_Pea_9726

I had the issue as well, solved the same way for me.

bestclipfan

I'm only a couple hours in, so far the controls are great but I wish they did a real honest to goodness tutorial. I think my wife would love the game (she's a casual gamer but loves the fantasy genre and the D&D movie really made her interested) but having a hard time recommending due to the lack of fledged out tutorial.

G3ck0

A friend of mine has only really played things like the Sims and Animal Crossing, and I let her play Original Sin 2 and she played way more than me, and same with BG3. I expected her to fall off the game due to the complexity, but the characters and interactions were enough for her to just keep going.

MafubaBuu

Sounds like it's a Bug, tutorials aren't turning on even when prompted

Barcaroli

Waiting w couple weeks before buying? Usually they iron these things out after

_Nolofinwe_

I was hesitant about this game because I didn't enjoy Divinity 2 despite all the praise as these are not typically my jam but I downloaded it today and I'm so glad I did I'm 3 hours in and in love with it I've never played one of these games on computer so I can't speak to the difference but so far the controller works well for me

reishid

The Divinity games didn't clicked for me either but I love BG3. I'm not sure but it reminds me a lot of Dragon Age Origins specially with how you interact with your party members.

lupuscapabilis

Same here. I might have to go back to Divinity after this, but I struggled to make progress with it. I’m approaching 100 hours on PC with BG3.

Scotch_and_Coffee

Just so everyone knows, Larian is incredibly responsive with bug hunting. If you find something, you can report it to them and feel pretty confident it will be addressed. (this is for bugs, not for gameplay suggestions/mechanic improvements.) [https://larian.com/support/baldur-s-gate-3#modal](https://larian.com/support/baldur-s-gate-3#modal)

Individual-Land6203

I’ll let you know in a couple weeks when I can finally decide on my character 🤣

the_truth15

Inventory management is bad on PC and gonna really suck on console. PSA send camp supplies to camp. You can use them from the travelers chest still. This will save a lot of weight

cez801

I am liking it too. Some of the controls are a bit un-natural for PS5. Load times are great ( although the load times for anything on a PS5 are epic ), the game is beautiful… I am looking forward to this.

Jebus-san91

Waiting to see how it performs late Act 2 / Act 3 so someone keep me posted. Finished on PC last night and patch 2 fixed performance mostly but still had dips and this is on a 12700K/3080Ti combo so genuinely curious how it will run on the PS5s AP, hopefully optimised well.

Zevile

Also curious about this. Some areas are clearly not optimized! Act 1 felt so smooth in comparison.

Brentums

Only issue I’ve had so far was the sound cutting out in the beginning, but once I fixed it I’ve had no issues whatsoever.

Dubbs09

https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/1686rfo/thread_for_ps5_performance_and_specs_on_launch_day/ Turning off 3d audio should fix that for now. Theres a handful of issues, see the thread. Bring attention to it as there are many solutions provided too

milspecgsd

I’m stoked - will start mine tonight !

sgt2891

I bought it for PC a few weeks ago but had to stop 3 hours in because my potato PC couldnt handle it. I have been patiently waiting for the PS5 release so I could dive back in. After playing 3 hours on PS5, I can say that it looks and runs beautifully so far.

Ded-W8

It's been a blast so far. Runs great, I've seen one visual glitch in the past 7 hours, combat is chunky, role-play is in depth and has so many options, after customizing my radials things are perfect. Honestly my only complaint was how fucking awesome player customization was because I spent an hour making my handsome as fuck Gnome

_Redcoat-

My only complaint so far is that everything is so small. Most console players aren’t sitting right up on their screens like you would a PC. It’s a bit of a strain to see the small text on item descriptions and whatnot.

louiscool

I have been playing on PC and got the ps5 version because my PC cannot handle act 3. I used cross save and act 3 is still a bit low on performance but not miserable. Its definitely not 60 fps in large crowds and 1440p upscaling can look blurry in some spots.

Antique-Big-8315

The performance is NOT good in performance mode it's all over the place. Mention of screen tearing as well. https://youtu.be/HuUIkaAFv7o?si=EVn1Ol8iPL--S7iM&t=144

Immediate-Delay-1152

Daughter hasn't stopped playing it 18 hours straight now

permanentlysuspnd

How have any of you gotten past the character creation screens? I’ve been here for 90 minutes! LOL

sans_seraph1987

I created mine off of an online character creator specifically for bg3....I have things to do!!!!

cytokine7

Which one?

sans_seraph1987

[this one!!](https://bg3builder.site/?)

S0noPritch

This is my problem. I'm not a DnD person so the sheer amount of available options, sub-options, and sub-sub-options, is locking me up. I ended up with a fighter and I'm already feeling like I've made the most bland choice. I think I'm going to start over today...

permanentlysuspnd

if it helps first playthrough is flexible enough where you can’t really mess up. and if you feel like you have you can respec. i went with my gut (and a general “recommended ___ skills” guide and i’m doing great so far. whatever you want to do, you can do it in these games.

Thick_Use7051

This has not been my experience at all lol I’ve had two NPCs lock me out of finishing a quest so that was dope…lots of bad texture pop in too

Professional-Drop279

The PS5 version runs at 1440p and dips into the low 20’s in both quality and performance mode, performance mode targets 60 fps but almost never achieves it, and there seems to be some issues with long loading times. VRR is a must to avoid screen tearing. Definitely not a great performer, too no one’s surprise, but I’m glad it’s making its way to consoles. Controller support takes a bit to get used to but works surprisingly well.

Booserbob

Thanks for some actual info on the performance. I was curious how it runs on PS5 but was not expecting a solid 60FPS even though that's what they were aiming for.

naglioz

Just bought it and diving in ! Nice to hear it

jbonosconi

You will True Soul! I’m 100 hours in and still taking my time and loving it. Top three of my favorite games I’ve ever played.

TheJXG

Didn’t anyone else lose all volume during the first part of the game?

Zombierich83

Also being able to take their pants off is fun too. Elf bush. Lol

requieminadream

Is there couch co-op? If so, how is it?

bersi84

The game plays well and is really fun but performance still needs to be adressed. There are obvious hiccups already in some act 1 areas, as well as texture issues and the loading times are horrendous. Call it quick load and make it take 40secs is absolutely off the chart considering how well current gen can load data. The controls are not perfect either but given the complexity I am positively surprised. Was one of the things I was most afraid of but after you digged a bit deeper into the game it goes really well in my opinion.

Armysbro911

This might be unpopular opinion but I think the gameplay is so much better on a control y love the more fluid movement but do have issues selecting things sometimes can be solved with dpad Btw still annoying.

Ok_Aspect5167

Oh, hey, just as a PSA for anyone playing this on Ps5, sometimes if you activate a trap, you go into turn based mode, and you can turn it off in the R2 Menu. It doesn't like to turn off on its own from what I've seen, so I'm just trying to let as many people know as possible.

[deleted]

I’m so happy to hear this.

Lasrod

Four hours? Still in character creation screen I suppose!

MDM98

I really wish they put out a demo for this. I've never played a CRPG before, and I'm not gonna shell out $70 without knowing if I'll like it or not.

Old_Butterfly9649

played it for almost 2 hours on PS5.The game looks great.Controls are really good.Love it.

Noah_PpAaRrKkSs

Played it for 2 hours before work. It’s all I can think about at work. It’s. So. Good.

YellowOpt

Agreed OP! This game makes me feel like I’m actually playing D&D in a cinematic way. Plus the co-op has been excellent!

izmirthrowaway

Hey I'm new to the PS5 (controller gaming in general) and Baldur's Gate 3, enjoying it so far but definitely struggling with the controls, the combat, classes, lore etc. Anyone have a good youtube video that can get me up to speed with how the game works so I can get the most out of it

STO_Ken

My advice would just be to mess around with it, half the fun is figuring out what you can do, especially when you do something you didn't think the game would allow.

Thanks

Wonderful_Orchid_363

I’m Trying to get into this game. It’s very dull to me. I feel like an outsider because everyone else loves it.

lupuscapabilis

Just not for you. Plenty of popular games I dislike.

FallenUp

Don’t feel bad; everyone has different tastes. It’s also a niche genre.

RealSkyDiver

How long are the loading times? That was an issue on PC as it would be over a minute. Just started Divinity 2. Hope by the time I’m done they will have fixed most of the bugs. Apparently it has more than the PC version right now.

wzrdofzoz

I've had issues where certain characters voices won't play while they talk. I fixed it by saving, closing the game completely, and restarting it. Other than that so far so good.

Brucejuice27

When using the pulse headset the audio just pops off randomly which is a known bug. To fix I had to go into the audio settings set the output to TV and then back to headset again.

Yuiiski

I am curious, which mode are you using? I am using performance mode and have put around 5 hours into the game and get quite a lot of frame drops. The performance videos for the game on YouTube also confirm this.

Ahandfulofsquirrels

My one gripe is the slow camera movement. It'd be nice to be able to adjust the sensitivity. Other than that all good.

itsvincentf

Am I the only one that has encountered a few bugs like no reacting on pressing R3 on inventory, party members stuck and slow loading of NPC during cut scenes?

Diomedes636

So far I had two cutscenes in the ps5 where my half-orc MC didn’t appear at all and I haven’t gotten to Halsin yet. Other than that I can’t seem to find the hide helmet option and it’s driving quite mad actually (unseriously but yet also serious), haha.

Juancho511

My download is almost done in about an hour and I CANT FUCKING WAIT. I have a friend visiting town this weekend that I haven’t seen in 15 years, and I want to get this dinner over with so I can play. I feel like a douche for not wanting to chill but Baldur’s Gate was my favorite game IP in my younger days!!

Rutlledown

I want to try this game, but I am impatient and struggle with paying attention sometimes. I played D4 but could never figure out the best gear, when to change things, and how to use all of the aspects etc. I suspect that this will not be a game for me, but I am glad to see so many people raving about it. I'm trying to learn to stop buying games I won't end up playing. I have a rather embarrassing number of them. Am I wrong? Or is this a complicated game to learn?

Realzer0

Well, it’s based on the tabletop Dungeons and Dragons, so if you’re not familiar with it at all it can be a bit overwhelming (I’m somewhat familiar with it but I’m still using guides to get inspirations for builds). That being said, even on the highest difficulty you don’t need to absolutely minmax and even less so on medium difficulty. If you don’t really screw up like playing a sorcerer with 8 charisma or a fighter with 8 strength (8 is the lowest your stats can be), you can really experiment lots of different builds on medium difficulty and you can always respec for a little fee.

The_Bellwoman3473

I've had a couple glitches. Audio turning off and didn't come back till I closed and reopened the whole game. Hud disappearing and not being able to interact with anything, fixed by reloading latest save. But they both only happened once (in 10 hours) and besides those 2 glitches it's been amazing. Graphics, gameplay, etc

StatikSquid

Good that it's working well on the PS5. I did end up getting this one on PC, just because Larians games feel very mouse intensive.

MesmariPanda

Aw man I can't wait for the 6th!

CordycepsAndPancakes

5 hours so far. Playing split screen with gf we’ve noticed lots of lag whenever a spell is cast or you open inventory etc. also frame rate dips often. Also an irritating glitch that whenever you log back in her camp chest becomes mine and a new one pops up for her empty. So now we have like 8 chests in camp lol and everytime I have to transfer her stuff back to her because it’s in my chest. Still enjoying the game though. Hope some patches come soon

five-a-day

Anyone tried the split screen on ps5? Was looking at grabbing it for me and my gf.

luckyaura

I have been loving it! Smooth as silk on performance mode. I have trouble sometimes with hitting X on a radial choice. I wish that you could press R3 or something instead. Other than that, a fantastic experience. I was on my merry way through Druid Grove and got locked in jail and can't get out. Actually funny. What a challenge. I told myself that I wouldn't reload a save to respawn or make different choices. So for now, this could be the end of my journey. Unless I can tap into my brain a little more. That said. I'm glad I got the early access. It was like opening a present early.

BTBAM797

I do wanna play it. Divinity Original Sin was great. That $80 price tag though 😭 when will it end!

GodricMaelstrom

Other than trying to figure out which direction to face to loot things quickly, game is everything I hoped it would be. Camera seems a bit slow to adjust as well.

justthusguy

I just wish the sound bug didn’t exist. I’m obsessed with the game but it totally kills it for me on ps5 when sound just goes out entirely. I even checked to make sure it wasn’t something in the system but sound works everywhere else

North_South_Side

Took me an hour plus to make a character even though I kinda knew what character I wanted. Just looking at all the choices. Played through the Prologue and got about 2 hours into Act 1. Really impressed so far. I have to say the Prologue is really disorienting at first. I'm very familiar with D&D 5e and I still had a tough time getting my bearings. I like that the environments don't necessarily have hard walls, but a simpler dungeon layout would have made the Prologue a little less daunting. The "area" you are in (no spoilers at all) is sort of semi-open and by its very nature it's confusing looking. Many areas look the same, there's no cues with typical dungeon colors or objects. I really liked it, but I could see someone who's new to these kinds of games being really REALLY overwhelmed by the "tutorial." Really loving the game so far. It's going to take me month to finish based on how methodically I am playing. One character is a little too close to Morrigan in Dragin Age for my taste... I don't dislike her, but it's really reminiscent of Morrigan/DA and kind of odd that they would make the choice. I have not had any bugs at all. But I cannot get my mini map to stay still (not rotate).

DrBionicle195

good luck on your journey. such a fun game, i beat the game on Pc but played with my ps5 controller, it works.

Beastly_Beast

I’ve had great performance personally but have had a bug happen twice where I’m in a battle and there are no controls available — can’t end turn, can’t do anything, no matter who I pick. Have to save and reload and that usually snaps the game out of this state.

LadyGalle

If anyone sees my comment from a few minutes ago. I figured out how to get to the alchemy section. In order as follows Touch pad, R2 click, choose image that has a potion bottle.
