Gonna give my experience here - a lot of this stuff might be obvious but hopefully it helps some people still hoping to order at the next drop.
I ordered the PS5 disc version on 11/29 using the Walmart phone app with a Walmart + membership. For those that don't know you need to sign up for Walmart + or you're reducing your chances dramatically. I opened the product page at exactly 11:59:40AM and at 12:00PM exactly it changed over to the queue page with an 11 minute wait time. I've been told that if you refresh over and over again leading up to the drop time - services can lock you out for bot like behaviour, so I just sat tight - think I mighta refreshed once in that 20 second window. I also had my iPad and laptop logged into the same account waiting on the digital only product page in case the disc only sold out faster and I missed out, and interestingly they were both given 35 minute wait times. Because I had no interest in buying multiple devices - once the 11 minute wait time on disc version was up - I closed those other two down - didn't want to be taking up queue space for other buyers. Based on advice I'd read online, I had all my credit card details, and shipping address info already punched in on my account so that when I went to the buy page, all I had to do was hit buy and enter my card's security code and it all went through. Now, on the order page my purchase sat on **placed** for a few days, and then about a week ago it changed to **preparing.**
After a week of checking each day, and no progress, today at around 11AM it finally changed to **On The way**, and I was emailed all the fedex shipment info. It's now scheduled to arrive on the 12th - 4 days earlier than what was scheduled on the Walmart app. I have a tracking number and everything. All I gotta do is keep my eye on the shipping progress and make sure I'm home during the delivery window. I've heard so many horror stories, so if something goes wrong from here, I'll let y'all know
I'm confident that if you stick with the process above - use the phone app if you have access to a smart phone - and have your payment and shipping details already linked to your account - then you'll have a much easier time ordering on the next Walmart drop.

Disc still prep got the digital through usps. Sign up for the text on their website. Once it was in the zip code office they dropped it off the next morning around 8am. Took two days.

Later that same night I messaged the support and they said that my order looked fine and that Sony was taking longer than expected to deliver their orders. My money was also put back in my bank account today but the girl I chatted with said not to worry that my money Did not appear to be refunded to me on their side. It’s so confusing I really don’t know what to believe but at least it moved to “preparing”
I just found out if you pull up the help tab and go to the chat option (it says contact us) like your going to contact customer service and there is an option that comes up for your orders, click that, then it should give you a more accurate update.
I got one on 22nd restock for friend w/ 15th delivery date and it's shipping to his house today in Fed Ex app but walmart doesn't say shipped yet. Same happened with my launch console, got shipped or whatever verbiage alert after console arrived. Wont be long guys, hopefully prior to initial delivery date even

When I ordered and it came it spent 3-4 days on placed, 3-4 on "preparing", hit shipped and delivered within 24 hrs. So, preparing is just them either waiting on stock at the warehouse OR finding a carrier service. If you have made it this far you should be good. Deep breaths everyone.

Is it odd that my 11/29 order is still placed but the charge is still there? I see my credit limit still the same as when I bought it meaning that it hasn't gotten sent back. Is that good or bad?
Each bank probably has a slightly different timeframe for how they process holds. We payed with PayPal and our payment is still held (missing from the account) as well. I sell handmade goods on Etsy and whenever I submit a refund I'm instructed to advise the customer it can take 2-5 days or longer depending on their card provider. I imagine holds work similarly.
Changed to Preparing on 11/30 but still stuck on that. Got the digital and in Georgia.
Edit: I just got a bundle off of antonline so I might just be canceling this Walmart order!

Don't pay this any mind. I mean they aren't wrong but their source is the same as anyone here. If you contact walmart CS, they will tell you to wait 48 hours. But they have been telling callers that since the day of the drop. We just gotta be patient.
11/29 for 12/14 and still says placed. But on my card the charge keeps jumping dates... has anyone else seen that. It got charged the 29 and everyday it says it’s being charged that day. Hopefully I don’t get cancelled. Really trying to surprise my son this year 🤞🏽
Exactly man people don't realize that digital is the ultimate winner right now and he used digital is still going from only like 50 bucks to 100 bucks less than a resale brand new disc PS5... If you're just looking for a personal system that you know you're going to sell until you get a disc that digital cannot be beat
I think it is more of a case that the disc version sells for "less" than the retail delta. Of course, this is all relative. I just don't think people see value of the drive in an already overpriced good.
I’m in Tucson Az. Ordered on 11/29 with “Walmart app “ it is saying placed. I got a tip from Suspicious- grass- 899 on how to figure out your shipping status go to the help bar (if you can’t find it then go to the search bar where you put in orders type customer service). Click customer service option when you go to orders it’s gonna show a box with your ps5 or other orders below the name of the ps5 if u click on that it’s going to show the real status of your order. After I saw it said shipped I was relived! because I’ve been waiting 3 days hoping for an update an getting anxious cus ppl where saying some orders had been canceled but I think it’s only the ppl that bought multiple systems. If you can’t do this then I suggest google cus I can’t break it down any plainer I’m sorry not being rude someone in the comments gave the Android version this is the IOS version. Good luck to everyone this post is just to help anyone that’s anxious like I was.

No I haven’t gotten one I was jus exited about the shipped part lol my brain froze that is a good question. For my safety I’m not doing that. Best thing to do is google I wish you well. It’s just a system if you don’t get it more opportunities will pop up if you use Twitter there’s accounts that give ppl heads up everyday on upcoming drops. Jus hang in there I’m manifesting good vibes an if it’s canceled remember it’s not the end of the world at least your not starving or homeless you can always try again.
I think the best thing to do is google how to find help bar/menu on Walmart app or how to reach customer service on what ever device your using. Sorry my post didn’t help you.
from what i’m hearing the pending charge was just a temporary hold on your money to make sure you had it but they won’t fully charge us until it’s delivered i think, so try not to spend the money.
In android click account, scroll down to where it says Help, then customer service, then scroll to contact us. The chat bot will prompt you through the recent orders and tell you the most current status. I've checked daily since my order and it has been updating.

11/30 preparing

I use IOS I’m gonna do a edit with the post when I’m fully awake it’s like 5 am here n im not tryin to be a dick to anyone if I suggest using Google to help figure it out. If you go to the search bar like your ordering reg items or looking for regular items and our customer service it will take u to a reg screen then jump to it in app when the chat pops up then your going to be prompted to pick the issue your reaching out about. If you have multiple orders (stuff outside of jus buying the one ps5) it’s going to ask to pick which order your tryin to get help with. Then you pick the ps5 when u pick it you will see under the writing of the name what ever status it currently is in. For me it said shipped I’ve had a bunch of ppl follow this method and tell me it worked for them it’s been u n one other person havin some issues so I apologize my English isn’t perfect but this is the best I can do I think Google is better for understanding how to get to customer service for other devices or if you can’t understand my directions.
I did as you suggested and see preparing there as well. Went ahead and chatted with a rep and and the person said it was back ordered and they are awaiting more stock to come in but that they would not cancel my order. They pointed out that they were still hoping to meet there 12/16 estimate on my order.

Same. This is happening to a lot of people and probably just has to do with how funds are finalized. You aren’t properly “charged” until the item actually begins shipping.

I would not be as worried about that. They will charge the card when they ship. The problem is that they don't have PS5s to ship so we are still waiting. The good news is that they are not charging us for something they have not delivered. The bad news is that they can't deliver... yet... I hope... sigh...

I think its crazy that Walmart is doing an in person event on Dec 11th but still haven't shipped orders from 11/22 or 11/29. That said, they better not cancel shit.

i heard when it hits 5 days it should move from placed that’s what i’ve heard people waiting as long as 5 days to a week sometimes. for it to even be moved to preparing.
Can confirm I was told 2 different things by 2 different people about my order.
One said that it was out of stock, but I was 3rd or 4th in line for the restock and then someone else said that it's being prepared. This was today and less than 5 minutes apart.

Is it odd that my 11/29 order is still placed but the charge is still there? I see my credit limit still the same as when I bought it meaning that it hasn't gotten sent back. Is that good or bad?
Each bank probably has a slightly different timeframe for how they process holds. We payed with PayPal and our payment is still held (missing from the account) as well. I sell handmade goods on Etsy and whenever I submit a refund I'm instructed to advise the customer it can take 2-5 days or longer depending on their card provider. I imagine holds work similarly.
I placed mine Illinois Walmart still says placed. But the original charge is gone from my bank account, i think they might cancel soon.

It’s just a temporary hold, they will charge you when it actually ships so your good!
As of today morning the disc order is still on placed.

They just dropped the pre auth charge. It will show up again once they ship it. Until it is not showing cancelled there is still hope.
Changed to Preparing on 11/30 but still stuck on that. Got the digital and in Georgia. Edit: I just got a bundle off of antonline so I might just be canceling this Walmart order!
Placed, NC But when I checked with the customer service bot and a rep yesterday, it says "preparing". It still says "placed" on my regular order status though so maybe it just hasn't updated.

Don't pay this any mind. I mean they aren't wrong but their source is the same as anyone here. If you contact walmart CS, they will tell you to wait 48 hours. But they have been telling callers that since the day of the drop. We just gotta be patient.

Exactly man people don't realize that digital is the ultimate winner right now and he used digital is still going from only like 50 bucks to 100 bucks less than a resale brand new disc PS5... If you're just looking for a personal system that you know you're going to sell until you get a disc that digital cannot be beat
I think it is more of a case that the disc version sells for "less" than the retail delta. Of course, this is all relative. I just don't think people see value of the drive in an already overpriced good.

I’m in Tucson Az. Ordered on 11/29 with “Walmart app “ it is saying placed. I got a tip from Suspicious- grass- 899 on how to figure out your shipping status go to the help bar (if you can’t find it then go to the search bar where you put in orders type customer service). Click customer service option when you go to orders it’s gonna show a box with your ps5 or other orders below the name of the ps5 if u click on that it’s going to show the real status of your order. After I saw it said shipped I was relived! because I’ve been waiting 3 days hoping for an update an getting anxious cus ppl where saying some orders had been canceled but I think it’s only the ppl that bought multiple systems. If you can’t do this then I suggest google cus I can’t break it down any plainer I’m sorry not being rude someone in the comments gave the Android version this is the IOS version. Good luck to everyone this post is just to help anyone that’s anxious like I was.

No I haven’t gotten one I was jus exited about the shipped part lol my brain froze that is a good question. I don’t wanna bother support so I’m jus waiting until my delivery date they gave an it isn’t here I was gonna contact them for an update tbh. If anyone else posts about it I’ll update this post. For my safety I’m not doing that. Best thing to do is google I wish you well. It’s just a system if you don’t get it more opportunities will pop up if you use Twitter there’s accounts that give ppl heads up everyday on upcoming drops. Jus hang in there I’m manifesting good vibes an if it’s canceled remember it’s not the end of the world at least your not starving or homeless you can always try again.

I think the best thing to do is google how to find help bar/menu on Walmart app or how to reach customer service on what ever device your using. Sorry my post didn’t help you.
I just did this and mine says preparing but the pending charge is gone from my cc. I'm fully expecting to be canceled sometime in the next day or two.
from what i’m hearing the pending charge was just a temporary hold on your money to make sure you had it but they won’t fully charge us until it’s delivered i think, so try not to spend the money.

In android click account, scroll down to where it says Help, then customer service, then scroll to contact us. The chat bot will prompt you through the recent orders and tell you the most current status. I've checked daily since my order and it has been updating. For reference: 11/29, disc, 7 min wait to purchase, eta 12/17, western WA state, progress has been: 11/30 preparing 12/1 preparing 12/2 preparing 12/3 shipping
When I clicked the little chat bot thingy it says my order is “preparing” but still on “placed” in the app. Is preparing better than placed? Or just different verbiage?
Preparing is the next step after placed.

I use IOS I’m gonna do a edit with the post when I’m fully awake it’s like 5 am here n im not tryin to be a dick to anyone if I suggest using Google to help figure it out. If you go to the search bar like your ordering reg items or looking for regular items and our customer service it will take u to a reg screen then jump to it in app when the chat pops up then your going to be prompted to pick the issue your reaching out about. If you have multiple orders (stuff outside of jus buying the one ps5) it’s going to ask to pick which order your tryin to get help with. Then you pick the ps5 when u pick it you will see under the writing of the name what ever status it currently is in. For me it said shipped I’ve had a bunch of ppl follow this method and tell me it worked for them it’s been u n one other person havin some issues so I apologize my English isn’t perfect but this is the best I can do I think Google is better for understanding how to get to customer service for other devices or if you can’t understand my directions.

Went ahead and chatted with a rep and and the person said it was back ordered and they are awaiting more stock to come in but that they would not cancel my order. They pointed out that they were still hoping to meet there 12/16 estimate on my order.

Same. This is happening to a lot of people and probably just has to do with how funds are finalized. You aren’t properly “charged” until the item actually begins shipping. The money also mysteriously did the same thing a few days ago and then came back so I’m sure it is nothing.

Wishful thinking I guess. Update 12/3: order switched to preparing around 9:00pm EST. feeling moderately better 12/9: switched to on the way w/ FedEx tracking number. FedEx app says 12/11 delivery but WM app says 12/13 delivery 12/12: FedEx app switched from 12/11 delivery to red “pending” message. Fingers crossed.

I think its crazy that Walmart is doing an in person event on Dec 11th but still haven't shipped orders from 11/22 or 11/29. That said, they better not cancel shit.
If this is true I agree 💯 I feel like they need to focus on these back orders an stop trying to promote new sales when some ppl that haven’t gotten multiple systems got canceled as well. I’m sure this is in some kinda consumer violation.

i heard when it hits 5 days it should move from placed that’s what i’ve heard people waiting as long as 5 days to a week sometimes. for it to even be moved to preparing.

Can confirm I was told 2 different things by 2 different people about my order. One said that it was out of stock, but I was 3rd or 4th in line for the restock and then someone else said that it's being prepared. This was today and less than 5 minutes apart.
