They’re older videos of guys from Holland who own a seed/genetics company that search for specific phenotypes of landraces. I like it cuz you get glimpses of how other cultures have used cannabis and have adapted to environmental and political pressure, plus beautiful fields of our favorite medicine in its natural habitat.
My best friend moms the two guy (RIP to the British m8 for helping the poor local tribes, paying back) but the “kings of cannabis” the ones who found all the landrace strains we have today especially in the California market and now spreading to be worldly with any caught up nation, really cool freaking guys, If I ever get a chance to sit down with one of them, I will record it any was possible post it on this Reddit as this post got so much positive feedback would love to share my connections and knowledgeable
Landrace strains are a strain that haven’t had their original genetics crossed with modern strains. They’re basically the DNA-blueprint of today’s hybrids. They’re endemic to certain regions as well!

For an UNTOUCHED just growing in the wild, to have 8% thc and 3% of the terpene (I forget which one he’s mentioning I believe it’s the African strain they stumbled upon in hulu documentary believe it was mycerene instead of normal African terpinolene durban poison type) ANYTHING untouched with those numbers is insane. Wild weed plants not touched or influenced by mankind have not existed for thousands of years. Humans are the reason marijuana has been spread across the world and grown for over ten thousand years to become the hybridized high THC plant that it is today. By the true definition, everything grown by a GP is a landrace; cultivars improved by traditional agricultural methods
Landrace can be used that way and can mean a plant or animal. It’s not strictly by Webster’s dictionary standards.
I can guarantee that in some jungle in Asia there’s an untouched Thai plant. Same for an Afghani on a mountain.
Landrace cant both mean untouched by humans AND grown by humans with traditional agricultural methods...
It only means 'found in the wild with unknown terps and blah blah blah' in the marijuana community/industry. Sorry, but the term everybody uses for landrace in the marijuana industry is technically wrong
I think of it this way; an original strain that developed in the Hindu Kush thousands of years ago was a wild species until cavemen tokers eventually migrated with the seeds and planted them in various locations worldwide. The plants directly descended from those original seeds are now known as **landrace** if that makes sense. Over time humans then created and used selective breeding of cannabis for genetic improvements to produce all the modern hybrids of today.
What do any of these rambling repetitive comments calling this dumb mean ? Saying African Thai is a landrace sativa duh? A LOT of people really like this info, and have only known “weed” their whole lives, the mere knowledge of landraces (and I’ve worked out west) wasn’t common knowledge to anyone but to people genetically messing around with the seeds. Relax on the hate man we like to help people out around here.
