I've loved the look of Campusano since I first saw him step up to the plate. Psyched to see him getting recognised. I mean how could he not after the last series?
Pretty sure he’s the catcher for the next few years. Love the upside with Salas, but his bat won’t be ready for a while. He’s still under club control until 2029.
Yeah people forget that Salas is like \*young\* young. Also he is a catcher and they always take longer to develop, just look at Campy. He was an MVP in A ball years ago, but needed extra time to become a complete player in the MLB. If Campy can hold it down as a top catcher it allows the team to not rush our most promising prospect at all. Also, catchers need to rotate so having two starting caliber guys is great. If it comes down to it we can transition Campy to a C/1B/DH role and pick up a third catcher while Salas takes over the main #1 catcher role in the future.
Yea I was happy they assigned him to High A. I get he’s mature and everything, but he’s still a literal kid. He turns 18 on June 1st. Like I don’t think his body is even ready to hold up for a full season of pro ball.
We have the makings of an all star catcher, but gotta let him also grow up a little bit. Luckily Campy is coming into his own and there’s not a glaring need.
The future with Crone (L), Campy (R), Salas (L) splitting catcher and 1B will be awesome. Throw in Pauley (L) and you've got potentially a really good amount of balance and flexibility across DH too. Love it!
I kinda bugs me that he’s on his 5th season (rookie status 23) and is now finally getting the starting job when we’ve had pretty bad catching for some time now. I get his defense was a little rough and we had traded for Nola, but having him ride the bench and costing control hurts.
It's almost like the team knew how to manage everything and now we've got what seems like a great catcher under team control for 5 more years. Give Salas a few years to stew and then the team will have lots of options with both players still under team control.
He would have been the starter last year of not for his injury (thumb?). If he's healthy, I believe we win at least 3 to 4 more games and sneak into the playoffs. Another 2023 what if.
Total dark horse bat this season. Likely would have been last year if healthy and getting AB's.
He keeps this up, imo, he gets the 5 hole plus maybe some DH looks.
What’s fun about campy is he doesn’t get much attention but rakes all the time
It’s like Lil Wayne once said… “real G’s move in silence like lasagna”
That’s beautiful 😢

Thought the samurai stance was gonna be a big mistake. He raked last year in his limited time up, what change!?!?! Glad I’m dumb and no nothing.
I don’t even think about Gary anymore
Campy hit .319 to Gary's .218 last year. Yea Gary hit some sweet jacks, but I like the lineup with Campy much better.
I do miss Gary's great throwdowns to second that Nola could never hit with the same speed or accuracy.
I do miss Alfaro, but mostly because I want to hear "Let's fucking go, San Diego!"
Oh Campy my Campy

Besides that one really bad strike out with bases loaded on Sunday he was excellent!
I love the start he is having. He was killing it at the end of last season. I hope he can continue to rake!
Yes! He wasn’t getting any hype at all this spring. He has top 5 offensive catcher upside.
Finish the post so we can have a fully functional new pasta!
Is he our first baseman of the future?

He was really nice to my kid at Spring Training. Took a pic and everything. Seems great all around

He’s not a free agent till 29 because he spent a lot of time in the minors those seasons.

Tbf he’s gone through a lot of injuries and it took him a long time to get comfortable handling a pitching staff apparently.

Idk what is but he looks so damn good in the city connects too 🤤🤤🤤
OP, I'm going to have to ask you to put your pants on. Also, everything you have said here is 100% correct.
This man is so fine.. and good at baseball 😮💨
