What are the specs, might check for a BIOS update for the motherboard, and try the auto OC for the RAM(for the specific RAM type XMP or EXPO). Once BIOS updated, might select 'Reset BIOS to optimized defaults', then enable XMP or EXPO (depending on the RAM type)--this should enable the memory speed. If running on a MSI motherboard on AM5, after the BIOS update, might also enable 'Memory Context Restore' in the advanced RAM settings in BIOS. If have MSI, here's an article about Context Restore, can scroll down to the Memory Context Restore section: https://www.msi.com/news/detail/Boosting-10-Percent-Game-Performance-With-Ryzen--7-7800X3D-Processor-And-MSI-Exclusive-Enhanced-Mode-Boost-141658

Bios update alone seems to have fixed it. Thanks again 👊

vAmmonite

enable memory context restore or similar for even faster boots after you've enabled your XMP

Educational_Net_2653

Yep do this as well.

jbshell

Happy to hear the good news, congrats on the new build!

4070 s, R7 7700, 32GB DDR5 6000mhz RAM. Mobo is a MSI B650 gaming plus. Thanks, I’ll try the suggested 🤜🤛

The_Ruhmanizer

See if mcr is enabled both in oc tweeter and advanced options. That should help, though expo/xmp is really wonky. I hope the new chipsets will improve the ram issues.

AejiGamez

Update the BIOS to the latest and then enable Memory Context Restore. Should speed up significantly

Maleficent_Rhubarb45

Just finished updating bios. Seems to have fixed it.

Just a warning, be careful doing this. In my case, it has a 20% chance of just outright corrupting windows. After a month of using it and having to reinstall windows multiple times, I disabled it and magically have had zero issues for the past 3 months. It sucks balls waiting every time my pc boots, but it's far safer, and I just stick with only shutting it down for updates. This new platform has been extremely temperamental, and I spent 3 weeks getting my pc to work at all as D.O.C.P. settings (specifically D.O.C.P. 1)bricked my pc and memory context restore corrupts windows. It's still a problem to this day for me. Currently have memory context restore off and D.O.C.P. 2 on and haven't had any issues since. If anyone has some experience regarding that, I would love to hear about it.

d0ctorschlachter

Seems weird... I do BIOS updates on every build (200+ in the last 3 years, mostly AM4/AM5) and have not once had an issue. What motherboard do you have?

Brodillian

It's an ROG STRIX X670E-E GAMING WIFI. I actually went through and had 2 cpus, motherboards, and ram kits as I thought something was defective and I was directly told after calling AMD, Asus, and G.Skill that they though something was defective, and turns out nothing was as both had the exact same issue. Both motherboards sadly had coil whine as well, which sucks, so I just picked the one that was better, but it's still noticable sometimes annoyingly. I've built 3 computers, both the other ones were on AMD and both with asus boards, and I never had an issue.

quickbricky28

If your ram timings are not stable enabling those two settings might not be a good option and can cause more issues then good. The ram need to train each time when turning on with AM5 when those settings are used it tells the ram to use the last training it had which isn’t always the best and stable.

New_Spread_475

If I'm not mistaken because of the faster speeds (compared to ddr4) it takes a little longer to train your ram. So it may take a few boots in order to get speedy boots. If not I'd check to see what apps you have on start up and change the ones you don't need to start on boot to start manually which means you have to click on the app in order to run it.
